You’ve probably seen home gyms on television that cost $500, $1,000 or more! And although you may like the convenience of exercising at home, few of us have the budget to create a state-of-the-art workout facility in our own house.

Here are the pieces you need to create an inexpensive home gym:

Cardio Equipment

Aerobic exercise will help you lose weight, build your endurance levels and boost your fitness. Some of the best cardio equipment is quite inexpensive–or even free!–like a jump rope ($10 at a sporting goods store) or exercise DVDs (free from the library). Choose a variety of DVDs so you can keep your workouts interesting a varied. If you find a DVD you particularly enjoy, consider purchasing it used from a used DVD store or an online auction. This allows you to own the workout video for a small financial investment.

Other possible inexpensive cardio workouts include going outside for a brisk walk or jog (or to your local park or track) for a free aerobic workout. You could also turn up the music on your stereo and dance in your home. Dancing is an excellent and fun aerobic workout. Finally, consider heading out to the park with your family. Playground equipment like jungle gyms and merry-go-rounds allow you to get a cardio workout while you enjoy time with your children.

Weight Equipment

Strength training will increase your muscle mass, boost your metabolism and reshape your body. Unfortunately, an entire supply of weights can be cost prohibitive. Keep costs manageable by choosing three pairs of plain hexagonal dumbbells in varying sizes (such as an eight pound pair, a ten pound pair and a fifteen pound pair). If you’d like to add some equipment to your stretching routine, a sticky yoga mat is a good choice. Yoga poses are exceptionally good exercises for stretching your muscles and increasing flexibility.

First, an individual needs to identify what they are trying to work at on their body. Are they trying to lose weight? Build muscle? Tone their body in a mild manner? Whether a person has a large goal or a more accessible goal, it is important to have this goal clearly outlined in order to help identify the proper work out exercise program or home gym. Next, it is important to look at what the individual is physically capable of doing. It is pointless to spend a lot of money on a home gym if you cannot lift weights; there are probably other options for the individual to consider first. Aside from what the individual feels comfortable performing, they may have certain limitations put on them based on their physical stamina and abilities. Most individuals that need to be concerned about this will have advising statements made by their physicians and doctors outlining for them what they can and cannot do. A popular physician-based limitation would be that the individual needs to limit their cardiovascular activity, such as hard running or fast-paced aerobics. This is often the case for individuals that have heart trouble or who may suffer if their heart is too vigorously overworked.

Once the goals and physical limitations of the individual are considered, financial constraints need to be looked at. A home gym is going to be much more money than the basic home exercise program, although many people would argue that the home gym has a lot more to offer in its capabilities as compared to a simple self-created or purchased home exercise program. Weigh the pros and cons thoroughly prior to moving ahead. Consider how often you work out, your budget, and think about how long you plan to live in your house. I bought this DVD Micro Stereo System about a month ago. I am still amazed by its quality. For starters, I did not have great expectations, but the sound quality is great. I only realized it when i connected it to the TV and popped in a DVD. The sound was great. I would happily recommend this product. The only downer so far has been the Radio. May be I can buy a different antenna and connect it. Other than that I also felt the shipping cost was too much. About 50% of the price of the product
