A watch battery, which popularly referred as button cell, is a small single cell battery typically used to power quartz & non-quartz analog & digital watches. They provide tiny amounts of power continuously for a very long period. Their life largely depends on the functions available in the watches.

Generally, more the functions a watch offers the shorter the battery life will be. However, on an average one can expect some two to four years of life in a watch battery. One can prolong the life of a watch battery by pulling out the crown into position 3, which will make the second hand stops moving when the watch is not worn for a long period.

Moreover, keeping the battery away from high temperatures also prolong it’s life. Most of the time, when a watch battery starts going bad, it makes the time to run slow & eventually, causes the watch stops running altogether. There by requiring a battery change. To do this you can approach the watch dealer from which you purchased the watch or you may try it on your own. The basic procedure of changing the battery is as follows.

1.Turn the watch over, taking care to prevent scratching the crystal of the watch.
2.Carefully remove the back cover & then the gasket.
3.Locate the battery & remove it carefully.
4.Identify the battery with it’s number & then fix an identical fresh replacement battery.

But here it can be mentioned that most of the high end men watches like Rolex watches (incidentally Rolex invented the modern automatic watches back in the 1930s) & the chic Seksy watches for the fashion conscious women or the clothing accessory watches like Flud watches are mostly automatic watches powered by self-winding mechanism. Even the contemporary day-to-day use watches for men are also mostly automatic watches.

However, this should not be construed to mean that battery powered watches have become obsolete. They are still largely popular & made by almost all the watch manufacturers & are available with a large variety of optional functions.

The popularity of battery-powered ultra luxury Hublot watches is an indication in this regard. Although this type of Hublot watches price is extremely prohibitive but still they manage to sell in good numbers. New Classima Executives Baume & Mercier Watches for This Spring

Hi:) Baume & Mercier are about to release two new out sized models from their Classima Executives collection. The Classima Executives Magnum XXL Chronograph with a steel case and the same model again but with a black PVD steel case (pictured here to the left) are the two new 44 mm diameter case watches to join this classic and timeless collection of distinctive timepieces.

Both models have Baume & Mercier's recently created fluted case in satin-finished and sand-blasted steel, a case that is accentuated by profiled push-pieces; for the black model the steel case is PVD coated. The screw-down case-back allows the watch to be water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters. Both models have a black dial with appliqué rhodium-plated hour-markers that have been coated with Superluminova and have hollowed luminescent hands that allow for perfect readability in the dark.

This new XXL chronograph is driven by a mechanical self-winding movement. A date calendar is situated at 6 o'clock, a minutes sub dial at 3 o'clock, and a small seconds sub dial at 9 o'clock.

As a final touch, the fluted screw-down crown bears the Baume & Mercier logo – the emblematic Phi symbol.

Tudor Heritage Chrono Watch Video Has American Flair, Not Sold In America

Hi:) Asia's fascination with the Tudor watch brand continues to elude me. Maybe that is because Tudor watches haven't been sold in the US in a while (at least as far as I know). So I have no emotional connect to the brand or its timepieces. As most of you know, Tudor is a brand run and owned by Rolex. Some call it baby Rolex, some call it "poor, but not so poor man's Rolex." Their new watch marquee watch for 2010 is the Heritage Chrono. Not exactly my favorite piece, but this Tudor made video makes it look cool. American music (though covered, and not the original song so as to avoid expensive royalties!), in an American looking lifestyle ad (with a German car) look squarely aimed at a western audience. Though none of these Heritage Chrono timepiece will officially be sold in America. Ironic yes, but more a point on how many products are sold in Asia as being of western influence, when in fact that aren't even sold in America (but sometimes in Europe of course).

Swiss Watch Exports Head For Worst Year In Decades

Hi:) Swiss watchmakers are facing the worst decline in demand in at least two decades as consumers across the world remained wary about treating themselves to luxury timepieces. Watch exports in April dropped by 26 percent on the year, data from the Swiss Watch Federation showed on Thursday, taking the decline in demand in the first four months of the year to 24 percent.

"We forecast a 15 percent decline in Swiss watch exports in 2009 -- the worst performance in 25 years," Citi analyst said. Take care:)

Swiss Watch-Maker Ties Up With Damas - Cool :)

Hi guys:) Swiss watch-maker Roger Dubuis said it has signed a partnership agreement with Damas naming it as the company's official retailer in Dubai. Following the announcement, Damas will be the sole point of sale in the city for Roger Dubuis’ collection of watches and jewellery, that includes the Kingsquare, Excalibur and Easydiver watch collections.
