<p>They were both asking and praying for the rain, but still the rain did not come.</p>

<p>From the time he knew what it meant to be a &#8216;real life boy&#8217;, Pinocchio wanted to be one.</p>
<p>I plan to watch the animation this coming weekend; it makes for good, clean fun &#8212; much-needed, nowadays, but that&#8217;s a story for another day.</p>
<p>Tonight is Christmas Eve and I am reflecting on dreams versus reality, illusions compared with actual circumstances.</p>
<p>For many years, as a capable web site developer and web hosting services provider, I wanted to be an Internet marketing expert, to be recognised for my knowledge, talents and wisdom in the field of Internet marketing. I wanted to be a guru, to hang out and party with the gurus.</p>
<p>But you know what? No amount of wanting made a skerrick of difference. I just kept eking out a pittance of a living as a small-time web developer with a few dozen customers and a head full of dreams.</p>
<p>Only when I resolved myself to take action, to prepare and pursue a definite plan for achieving mastery, did I start to achieve any results.</p>
<p>So what has this got to do with Pinocchio?</p>
<p class="style19">Pinocchio may be a fictional character, but he learned an important principle that a lot of people may have yet to grasp &#8212; the power of being the one &#8220;pulling the strings&#8221;, so to speak.</p>
<p class="style19">But wanting to become a &#8216;real boy&#8217; doesn&#8217;t come by itself. Pinocchio had to prove himself first. It required his time and investment. And, all the lessons he learned proved worthwhile in the long run.</p>
<p class="style19">Pinocchio definitely got it right. Would you rather be a puppet? Or would you rather be &#8216;real&#8217;?</p>
<p>What can you learn from Pinocchio about being real and succeeding on Twitter?</p>
<p class="style19">Twitter is like that. People would rather meet other &#8216;real people&#8217; online. Depending on your behavior, you can easily be misinterpreted and labeled a spammer or a robot, while you are actually doing as best you know how to bring your marketing online.</p>
