Where to Eat Near LA’s Most Popular Music Venues and Concert Halls

Pre- or post-show dining options abound around the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and more

Los Angeles is home to dozens of live music venues of all scopes and sizes, from iconic amphitheaters, like the Greek Theater and Hollywood Bowl, to legendary stages, like the Troubadour and the Wiltern, and a smattering of small indie clubs, too. Not to mention Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium, which can seat over 70,000 concertgoers for A-list performers, like the recent multi-night runs with Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. On-site concessions will do in a pinch, but real pros know to plan for a memorable meal before or after a performance. Below is where to eat near LA’s most popular music venues and concert halls.

For this edit, new additions include House of Pies before (or after) the Greek Theater and the James Beard Award-winning Kuya Lord for those heading to events at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Ray Garcia’s Asterid (which is temporarily closed for the summer), Long Beach’s Ammatoli Bites, and Little Dom’s will come off this round.

Mona Holmes is a big fan of consuming a big meal before a concert, walking as much as possible to the venue, and avoiding the traffic crush after the show.

The Best LA Restaurants That Are Open on Monday Nights

Head to some of LA’s best restaurants and hottest tables on Monday nights

Most of the time, Monday night dinner is made for comfort food in simple surroundings, or even having dinner at home. For many Angelenos, it’s a recharge day after a long weekend at hip bars and hot spots across the city. Still, for those really in-the-know diners, Monday night represents a chance to beat the crowds while still eating well at some of greater Los Angeles’s best restaurants. These are places that work for date night or just a nice friend hang, restaurants where the service, drinks, and decor help to pull the whole meal together — and where it’s possible to actually get in, without waiting for months on a reservation list. Here’s where to score a table on Monday nights around Los Angeles.

New this update: East Hollywood Afro-Caribbean restaurant Bridgetown Roti, South Bay standby Ryla, Inglewood’s Two Hommes, red sauce joint Donna’s, and Korean barbecue spot K-Team join the list in this update, while Nando Trattoria, soon-to-close Here’s Looking At You, and closed Bar Chelou and Yangban come off.

Rebecca Roland is a Los Angeles native who appreciates the quiet of restaurants on Monday nights and relative ease of securing a last-minute reservation.

Follow Eater editors as they share their favorite dishes they ate in LA

The editors at Eater LA dine out several times a week, if not per day, which means we’re always encountering standout dishes that deserve time in the limelight. Here’s the very best of everything the team has eaten this week.

Vietnamese-style lomo saltado from Nam Kitchen in Gardena.

Over the past year, I’ve determined that Nam Kitchen has become the South Bay’s best overall casual Vietnamese restaurant thanks to stellar pho and a handful of creative dishes like this Vietnamese-Peruvian fusion lomo saltado. The kitchen takes slightly sweet soy flavors of bo luc lac and tosses them with classic lomo saltado ingredients of red onion, tomato, and French fries, topping them with cilantro and serving with a side of creamy aji verde and a mound of white rice. The tenderloin pieces are as easy to eat as marshmallows, savory and covered with black pepper. Frankly, this could be one of the best lomo saltado preparations anywhere in the city, and it’ll be something I crave. Nam Kitchen’s other fusion dishes are worth exploring, but even the pho đặc biệt is top-notch, piled high with quality beef and a spice-laden broth. 1530 Artesia Boulevard, Gardena, CA 90248. — Matthew Kang, lead editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest

Steak tacos from MidEast Tacos in Silver Lake.

Silver Lake is lucky to be the home of MidEast Tacos, an Armenian-Mexican taco restaurant from Mini Kabob’s Armen Martirosyan. Operating out of a brick-lined corner space along Sunset Boulevard, right across from the former 99 Cent store, the restaurant serves up toum-topped tacos, crispy potatoes with Aleppo pepper, and burritos stuffed with marinated chicken. But for me, the best way to experience MidEast Tacos is with the simple steak taco, with a corn tortilla instead of the flour tortilla it comes with. The steak is reminiscent of the flavors of Mini Kabob’s own beef, with a slightly smoky and well-spiced profile. The meat is chopped to a size reminiscent of a street taco, just large enough to get the entire flavor without it being overwhelming. A size of crispy papas brings the entire meal home, which is best enjoyed at one of the tables on the sidewalk. 3536 W. Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90026. — Rebecca Roland, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest

Spicy salami pie from Little Goat Pizza House in Glendale.

As a Northeast LA resident who loves grubbing on pizza from the comfort of my home, my options are often limited. Especially when comparing neighborhoods that are flush with celebrated pizza spots, I frequent the same restaurants more often than I care to admit. That doesn’t serve my job very well, so after branching out into Glendale, I took home two pies from the Little Goat Pizza House. The results were worthy of a return, particularly the spicy salami pie. Though the margherita was respectable, the combination of the Neapolitan-style crust covered in San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, salami, garlic, tarragon, and a respectable amount of spicy honey made my day. I assumed my patented pizza-consuming position next to the low coffee table, opened the box, and dug in. I was impressed by the consistency of the beautifully leavened sourdough placed in a wood-fired oven. I will happily sit down on-site and consume it hot out of the oven next time. It tasted perfect the following morning for breakfast. 942 N. Brand Boulevard, Glendale, CA, 91202. — Mona Holmes, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest

Whole grilled branzino from Zinque in Century City.

Of all the homegrown restaurants in Los Angeles, I didn’t peg stylish French hangout Zinqué to become a fast-growing chain. Armed with key locations in West Hollywood, Downtown, and more recently in Century City, the restaurant has grown to Scottsdale, Westlake Village, and even its spiritual homeland of Paris, France. Given its prime locations, I’m starting to see Zinqué as a viable alternative to places like Cheesecake Factory or Houston’s, serving reliable if sometimes predictable food with generous portions. Zinqué’s strength isn’t in innovation, but rather in serving high-quality ingredients without much fuss. Their charcuterie board is ample and quite good, while their mushroom bucatini could’ve used a touch more salt. The bistro burger is delightful and satisfying for meat-and-potato types. The whole-grilled branzino gets a gorgeous golden brown interior and a hefty pile of shaved fennel and arugula. For $45, they serve a fish big enough for the table to share. And the branzino was juicy, fresh, and nicely seasoned, the dry-herb chimichurri bringing a vegetal punch when needed. You could see why Zinqué has mass appeal, an easy option for fussy palates and large groups. 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90067. — Matthew Kang, lead editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest

A ‘White Lotus’-Inspired Coastal Italian Stunner Opens Inside the Thompson Palm Springs

Bar Issi. | Jakob Layman

Bar Issi is now open for brunch, dinner, and drinks at the Thompson Palm Springs from Marissa and Matt Hermer of Olivetta and Chez Mia

Celebrity-drawing restaurateurs Marissa and Matt Hermer open their next restaurant, Bar Issi on June 6 inside the Thompson Hotel in Palm Springs, their first expansion outside of Los Angeles. With a similar color palette of Italian reds, blues, greens, and earth tones, Bar Issi’s maximalist style, courtesy of Tom Parker of Fettle Design, is poised to become a beloved part of Palm Springs’ dining scene. According to Marissa Hermer, the look and feel were inspired by the wildly popular Season 2 of HBO’s the White Lotus, which took place on a luxe Sicilian resort, as well as San Luis Obispo’s iconic overdesigned Madonna Inn with its floor-to-ceiling patterns and textures.

Bar Issi’s original inspiration comes from the short-lived Issima that opened as an indoor-outdoor ground-floor restaurant inside the West Hollywood La Peer hotel, serving chic pastas, pizza, and wood-fired seasonal produce. In October 2024, the Hermers also opened French Mediterranean restaurant Chez Mia in the old Ago space on Melrose, cementing their status in West Hollywood (Olivetta is undergoing renovations, while their first restaurant, the Draycott, closed at the end of 2024). Issima eventually morphed into Charbel Hayek’s Ladyhawk, and the Hermers brought the Issima concept over to the desert, where it somehow feels more lived in. The 180-seat space joins the eastern Mediterranean-inflected Lola Rose Grand Mezze and Hall Napa Valley Tasting Room on the Thompson property.

Spread of dishes at Bar Issi.

Marissa says she always prefers to serve the “kind of food I like to eat,” with old money coastal Italian fare intersected with Californian sensibility. Everything is shareable, unfussy, and tasty — never too challenging but also a few steps beyond the basic. Hamachi carpaccio comes with truffle, yuzu, and ponzu, while a Sun Gold tomato gazpacho arrives just in time for Palm Springs’ sweltering months. Squash blossoms filled with feta cheese and ricotta provide a warm appetizer while shrimp linguini with Calabrian chile gets a bright spritz of lemon. Wood-fired pizza ranges classic pepperoni with 24-month Parmesan and roasted mushrooms with fontina, taleggio, and thyme. Easy mains include lamb chops, roasted salmon with peas and yogurt, or citrus-marinated skirt steak.

Given it’s the second time the Hermers have occupied a hotel space, Bar Issi’s versatile menu and fun-first approach should play well with its key location in Downtown Palm Springs, which already boasts a vibrant nightlife scene. Though located nowhere near an actual coastline, Bar Issi’s escapist ambience and party-like atmosphere fit the bill for the Thompson Hotel.

Bar Issi is open 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sunday 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner. Friday to Sunday, it’ll serve brunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. with bar happy hour in between brunch and dinner. It’ll be located inside the Thompson Hotel Palm Springs at 410 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA, 92262. Reservations are available on Resy.

Joshua Skenes, the founding chef of Saison and Angler in San Francisco (and part of Angler LA at opening), is opening a fast-casual restaurant on June 6 called Happies Hand Made in the Arts District in the space adjacent to Tatsu Ramen. Skenes, who opened Leopardo in mid-2024 and temporarily closed it in early 2025 to work on Happies, is serving thick, spicy, Sichuan-inflected fried chicken tenders with fruit and tea drinks; heavily seasoned beef tallow fries; soft serve topped with passion fruit and strawberry; and frozen cocktails. The tenders will be served atop crispy waffles, milk bread slices, or a pile of dressed salad greens.

The surprise debut comes after months of speculation about the fate of Leopardo, Skenes’ Italian American pizza and seafood restaurant that opened in 2024 along La Brea Avenue. Leopardo had garnered some local and national recognition for its pizza and was included in the California Michelin Guide. The restaurant quietly closed in early 2025 and has yet to set a reopening date, but promises a renovated interior design. Prior to Leopardo, Skenes founded Saison, which reached three Michelin stars (it’s currently at two after his departure), and Angler, which still has a single Michelin star. Angler in Los Angeles operated at the Beverly Center from 2019 to 2023. His only previous foray into casual dining was with Fat Noodle, a venture with Umami Burger founder Adam Fleischman that never fully opened.

Chicken tender from Happies Hand Made.

In the meantime, Skenes’ Happies Hand Made restaurant opens its doors today at noon with limited hours of operation from Friday to Sunday. The fried chicken tenders are possibly the biggest in the city, encrusted with a crispy Southern-style exterior and dressed with a mildly spicy Sichuan-style chile sauce (the preparation certainly has a resemblance to Pecking House, which popped up in Sawtelle Japantown in 2023). A gentle smokiness comes through with each bite, which distinguishes these tenders from other versions around town. Craggy fries are coated in black pepper and heavy seasoning, resembling Chinese and Korean snacks; they’re fried in beef tallow for good measure. Skenes has always excelled in soft serve ice cream, with compelling renditions at Angler and Leopardo. Here, soft serve swirls are topped with strawberry sauce, passion fruit, or whole honeycomb. Prices are fairly reasonable, with fried tender combos at $26 for two tenders, a choice of crispy “liquid” waffle, milk bread, or salad, and a housemade soda. Fries are $5, and soft serve is $8.

To round out the menu, Skenes has a huge array of beverages, like fruit sodas; lemon mint, honey oolong, and hojicha tea, cold brew coffee with a whole doughnut on top; boozy slushies flavored with coconut or kyoho grape; and a few other fruity cocktails. The wood-lined space conjures a retro diner, with a slatted divider barely separating the rest of the high-ceiling industrial space from the next-door Tatsu Ramen. Still, a few wall counter stools and plush booth seating make for decent on-premise dining. The restaurant is currently dine-in only, with take-out and delivery forthcoming.

Happies Hand Made is open Friday to Sunday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is located at 427 S. Hewitt Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90013.

Your handy guide on where to eat from the editors at Eater LA

Every Friday, our editors compile a trusty list of recommendations to answer the most pressing of questions: “Where should I eat?“ Here now are four places to check out this weekend in Los Angeles. And if you need some ideas on where to drink, here’s our list of the hottest places to get cocktails in town.

Los Angeles’s pizza scene has grown substantially in recent years, with shops around town serving New York-style slices, square pies, New Haven-style pizza, and practically every other style under the sun. Many of the city’s best shops have only a single location, making them more of a neighborhood destination than a widely accessible option for pizza night takeout or delivery. Prime is among those outstanding pizza parlors in Los Angeles but has locations across the city, making it easy to grab a slice no matter what part of town one is in. The vodka pizza is a standout among the round pies, topped with mozzarella, basil, and Parmesan. Square pies consist of a simple grandma pie, a Sicilian, a spicy pepperoni, and a meat lover’s. Prime even offers gluten-free crusts for those avoiding wheat. 1900 Allen Avenue, Altadena, CA 91001. — Rebecca Roland, editor, Southern California/Southwest

For a gorgeous Italian patio vibe in the middle of residential Mar Vista: Beethoven Market.

One of the loveliest dinners I’ve had in recent memory, at least in terms of pure ambience, was at Beethoven Market, a neighborhood gem right in Mar Vista’s residential expanse. Restaurateur Jeremy Adler has made a name overseeing some of the Westside’s busiest spots, like Santa Monica’s Cobi’s, working for years to transform this former bodega into a community destination. On this front, Beethoven is overwhelmingly successful, perhaps to the chagrin of some neighbors who were happy to park their cars in our spots when we left. But the benefit of a breezy, casual hangout like this must surely compensate for the traffic. Chef Michael Leonard serves a familiar California Italian menu of fried squash blossoms, blimp-shaped arancini, personal-sized pizzas, and pastas. Evan Funke fans will find a lot of similar dishes here, such as grilled prawns in salsa verde, linguine al limone, burrata panzanella, and pesto-laden foglie d’Ulivo. Beethoven does venture in a different direction with the pizzas, which sport pillowy soft New York-esque crusts that offer a sweet fragrance; the grilled sea bass over an herbaceous Sicilian tarragon sauce doesn’t have a tangle of shredded fennel slices like at Mother Wolf. For dessert, be sure to share the excellent homemade gelati. Most people coming to Beethoven probably won’t mind the similarities, and there’s something to be said about the very reasonable pricing here (pastas are all under $20, pizzas max out at $23, a good meal can be had for under $75 a person before drinks). And Los Angeles has never been a city to ever tire of California-Italian food. 12904 Palms Boulevard, Mar Vista, CA, 90066. — Matthew Kang, lead editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest

Lines at Courage and Sqirl may never truly die down, but Virgil Village now has another option for a more easygoing breakfast or brunch. Virgil Cafe is an unassuming breakfast spot near the intersection of Virgil and Melrose, serving all the classics, like French toast, pancakes, and eggs, alongside huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and breakfast burritos. The interior is no-frills, but service is warm and quick, and the portion sizes are very generous. Fresh-pressed juices and smoothies are also available, like a green juice and a peanut butter and banana smoothie. During the daytime, Virgil Cafe serves more lunch-y dishes, including a tlayuda, mushroom burger, and fajitas. 709 Virgil Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90029. — Rebecca Roland, editor, Southern California/Southwest

Gomez’s mother, Alis Reañ, owned two notable Lima restaurants called Listo de Pollo. Listo de Pollo opened in 1969 and closed permanently in 1993, while a young Gomez and her sisters (Carmen and Flor Bermudez also operate Rosty) learned the inner workings of a restaurant. The family debuted their Highland Park restaurant in 2018, which has some of the best Peruvian food in the city. It’s a casual and friendly spot that serves lunch through dinner with an incredible arroz chaufa, a Peruvian fried rice that takes fairly uninteresting vegetables and makes them sing in a saucy mixture of herbs, tomatoes, and a healthy dose of onions. The addition of chicken makes it an incredibly filling meal, but it is absolutely stunning, even without protein. Traditional la brasa rotisserie chicken is available, but go beyond and try everything, especially the fried yucca, lomo saltado, and incredible ceviche that packs heat. The pescado frito is a filet that’s deep-fried and served simply with salsa criolla, rice, and plantains. The best strategy is to go with a group to share the full spread. 5511 N.
