I’m telling everybody I know about the benefits of eating more raw foods.

Hi Yuri,

I’ve heard of “alkalize & energize before, but your book has much more info. The recipes are great! I had been using the them for about a month before Easter weekend & had begun to notice that I wasn’t so exhausted & hadn’t had heartburn for a while so I asked my husband how he was feeling & he noticed the same things I did. Then, on Saturday, we went to my father’s b-day party. The food was pretty tasty, but it was all cooked & lots of meat – including a whole pig that had been roasted on a spit. Then on Sunday we had a large ham dinner. Again, the food was really good, but I couldn’t help thinking – “Poor food! It had so much to give & we cooked the life right out of it all!” The next day – Monday, I could hardly get out of bed. I slept over an hour later than I usually do & still felt exhausted when I did get up. When my husband called me at lunch time, I asked how he was feeling & he said “A little sluggish”. I had a spinach pear smoothie & about an hour later I noticed I didn’t feel quite as tired. Then for supper I made Yammy’s Pad Tai. I LOVE that recipe! Today I woke up closer to my normal time & even went to the gym! I’m feeling much better!

Sorry this is more than 2 or 3 sentences, but I couldn’t say everything in that short a space – I am just so pleased with my results so far. I am continuing in my endeavor to live a much healthier life.

I’m telling everybody I know about the benefits of eating more raw foods. I wish your book was in hard copy form I’d get a copy for everyone I know! How much do you charge for your live events? Will you be in the Philadelphia, Pa area any time soon?

Thanks Yuri & Yammy!

May God continue to bless & prosper you in your mission! Luv, Di

“Eating for Energy” has been a godsend for me.

Hello Yuri,

“Eating for Energy” has been a godsend for me. I switched to a raw vegan lifestyle four weeks ago and your book, emails, and video clips have helped make the transition to my new lifestyle so much easier. You have been an incredibly positive, supportive, and motivating force for me. And here I sit four weeks later….I’m already 20 lbs lighter and have an INCREDIBLE amount of energy. Thank you Yuri!!!

I can’t even begin to describe how AMAZING I feel.

Hi Yuri,

I recently finished reading Eating for Energy and am now putting the teachings into action. I have been 75-80% raw for almost 3 weeks now and I can’t even begin to describe how AMAZING I feel. My body feels stronger, faster, lighter and full of energy. I love your recipe section too. All the ones I have tried are extremely tasty. Thank you VERY MUCH for making this outstanding nutritional guide available to everyone. My life is forever changed.

Brad E.

I’ve lost almost 20 pounds so far and can’t wait to keep losing.

I have definitely noticed a change in energy when I eat raw or use the recipes in the book compared to when I don’t. When I do I feel ready to take on the day and when I don’t follow it or eat meat I feel lethargic and just want to take a nap. I’ve lost almost 20 pounds so far and can’t wait to keep losing. I think my very favorite part of the book so far is the end where you list the vitamins in fruits and veggies and tell what they do. Very very helpful!

I have lost 10 pounds of that stubborn menopause weight in the last month and know that I can be the weight that I choose to be.

I am 59 years old and have been a vegetarian all of my life. I have also struggled with food being an obsession because of cravings that kept me out of control much of the time. When you crave something, you are controlled by that thing because it is what you think about. The Eating for Energy information helped me to understand what sugar and other processed foods do to your body. Yuri has helped me to change my desires for anything processed. Raw food tastes better to me now. The greatest blessing is that all of my food cravings are gone. Food is something that I now enjoy instead of fearing. I used to eat whole grains as a mainstay of my diet. I have cut out the grains almost completely. I have lost 10 pounds of that stubborn menopause weight in the last month and know that I can be the weight that I choose to be. Thank you for all of your efforts,

My emotional well-being has definitely been affected. I feel so happy!

Hi Yuri,

I’m on week three of Eating for Energy and I can tell you that I do feel better already. My emotional well-being has definitely been affected. I feel so happy! Even my 10 year old son has noticed the difference. He recently told me that I’ve been a lot less crabby now that I eat my veggies. I notice that I don’t have the sluggish feeling that I used to have. I’m able to get up in the morning and exercise. I can roll out of bed without my previous whining about “having” to get up. So thank you and I’m looking forward to the following nine weeks and the other transformations that I’ll see!

I live in Australia, and am nearing 66 years of age. Have been looking at different ways to improve my health and lose some weight. Whilst doing some internet research on raw foods I came across your site. So glad I did. Eating for Energy and your other very helpful articles have helped to get me on to a new path. I am not yet 100% raw, but probably up to about 85%…..have lost approximately 1 stone so far in only a few weeks….tried on a pair of trousers I have not worn for 2 years…Fit just great now…WOW!!! I just feel so much better…
I must also thank you for your regular contact as I find it is so helpful in encouraging me to keep at the changes. I am endeavoring to encourage some friends to consider making some diet changes to help them regain their energy and health.
Keep up the great work you are doing

Thank you so much for putting this information out there, it is really changing lives!

Testimonial for Eating for Energy
This book has been the key to me losing the last 5 pounds. I never realized how MANY fruits and leafy greens were required for good health. The Green Cappuccino has completely replaced my morning desire for coffee and makes me feel healthy from the inside, not jittery. Thank you so much for putting this information out there, it is really changing lives!

I feel so much better, my energy levels are far greater…..

Well it’s been 3 weeks since we started. I feel so much better, my energy levels are far greater than they were, even though I’ve always been very active and energetic, I do feel that I can go for much longer without the tiredness I used to always fell. My partner however has lost 6kg (15lbs) in this time and is also feeling that she has far more energy now than she’s felt in years. My partner is still having cooked dinners sometimes but is raw up till then. Me, however, I’m all raw and loving it.

Thank you Gaby

I have struggled since 1998 with some health problems…..

But always have set out to find a solution. I’ve been a vegetarian for 12 years now and the raw food diet seemed like the next step. I was feeling good the first 2 1/2 to 3 weeks and now have gotten exhausted again. With my feet, hands and cheeks just burning up again, and needing to sleep 1-3 times during the day. I get quite depressed when it feels like I’m on the right path (and I believe I am) but then this happens. I would be happy to share more if you want but want to not go on and on.

I will keep on with the raw as I believe it is the best…..

I’ve gotten it to about 90% of my diet raw. And I’ve lost 7 pounds. I do need to lose a lot of weight (about 50 pounds) but the weight loss isn’t as important to me as being healthy & full of energy. Before I got sick in 1998 (had a fever of 99 degrees to 101 degrees for an entire year)…anyway, before that, my husband and I played golf 3 times a week, rode motorcycles and played basketball. All that changed in 1998. I’ve been searching for solutions since then.

Janelle Rydell

I absolutely recommend this change in every ones lifestyle….

This is my testimonial: I heard about Raw Food lifestyle from a friend of mine who live in NYC, after researching it on the internet Eating for Energy pop up so many times that I decided to buy it. I live in Argentina, and here the food we ate is healthier than in most part of the USA. I was always trying to eat healthier and I always want to lose some pounds (9 approximately) I am pretty slim, but as many girls, I prefer to look a little bit slimmer. Since I never eat a lot, every time I start a diet I ate approximately the same amount of food I usually did and I could never lost a pound, and It was kind of irritating since I was feeling I have to cut some of my favorite food.

I start with the raw food in a 70% approximately, I continue eating my favorite food, and in 2 month I lost 6 pounds, I can’t really believe it, I eat more food than ever, I have a new relation with the food itself, I now think that the more I eat (fruits and vegetables) the better, before I felt that the less the better. Now I feel great and energetic, I start to learn how to eat, what to order in restaurants, I start to uncook, and now I start to feel more related with this kind of food, I learn to cook fast, I learn what to snack, and everything is going up. I feel so inspired, and my body feels so great.

I absolutely recommend this change in everyone lifestyle. I hope that gradually I became a 100% raw food, because I can definitively feel the difference when I eat the other kind of food I once thought that was healthy.

Thanks for your help Yuri, Eating for Energy is great, lot of information I need in this transition I am in, I am still reading it, it is just what I need to feel and understand the changes I am feeling.

Sorry for my English, Carolina

And that’s cool…

Because I’m happy to share it with you – for the most part.

Although I’m not 100% raw, I do try my best to eat as many raw fruits and veggies throughout the day so that by dinner time I have a little more flexibility.

In this picture, I’m about to eat my favourite treat – Oscar!

So here’s what my day looked like yesterday…

8am – morning jog (can be substituted for family walk or morning workout or yoga)

9am – massive green smoothie

INGREDIENTS: head of lettuce, 1 pear, 1 apple, 1 banana, handful of parsley, juice of 1/2 lime, and water

12pm – decaf almond milk latte

1pm – pear

5pm – Moroccan kale soup (one of our Cleanse recipes)

INGREDIENTS: kale, lentils, chic peas, cilantro, carrots, celery, onions, garlic, cumin, cayenne, tumeric, water.

7-10pm – Tennis (my love!)

10pm – 1 liter of water with electrolyte solution (courtesy of my friend Lucas Rockwood)
- pear
- blueberry cereal (blueberries, shredded coconut, organic peanut butter, almond milk)

10:45pm – bedtime

NOTE: Tuesday nights I end up eating a little too much before going to bed thanks to my tennis league. This morning I woke up feeling …not so hot. Just a reminder to not eat a lot before going to bed.

Some people are pretty robotic with what they eat each day. Me…not at all.

The only thing that stays pretty consistent for me each day is a green smoothie, my decaf almond milk latte, and usually lots of veggies at dinner.

I also have a sweet tooth so occasionally I indulge in a local baked treat.

But for the most part, I try to stay raw vegan because that’s when I look, feel, and perform the best.

I also realize that we are all different and that’s why it’s important to really listen to your body and figure out what works best for you.

Another resource that has really helped me add more simple and delicious raw recipes to my diet is my friend Joy Houston’s Rocking Body Raw Food program.

In fact, her “healthy” coffee alternative – MACA Fava – is awesome. That’s what initially got me hooked.

Now, I’m a sucker for many of her smoothies and other really unique raw recipes.

But the 2 things I like best about her program is that since all the recipes come with video instruction, I can actually see Joy making the meals, which is really helpful.

Second, her raw recipes take little to no time at all to prepare and that’s a big thing for me – time is precious!

==> You can learn more about her raw food program here

I would actually suggest you join her 14-day program and try it for yourself. It really is great.

Today, we’re going to talk about what to eat after your workout and Joy has once again provided us with 2 delicious raw post-workout snacks.

The first one is her “Watermelon Gazpacho” (this is damn good).

Gazpachos are cool, refreshing summer soups, but this one is particularly good in that it successfully pairs the sweetness of watermelon with the coolness of cucumbers and the spice of jalapeños. If you are not big on the fire factor of jalapeños you can use green pepper instead.

Again, this doesn’t necessarily hit all the protein needs for a post-workout snack (on it’s own) but I would definitely use this to rehydrate after a sweat-inducing workout or any type of prolonged outdoor activity.

Watermelon Gazpacho

Ingredients:
2 cups of watermelon juice (if you don’t have a juicer, blend it in the Vita-Mix)
3/4 cup watermelon diced to 1/4 inch pieces, seeds removed
1 heirloom tomato, seeded and diced to 1/4 inch pieces
1/2 cup English cucumber diced to 1/4 inch pieces
the juice of one lime (reserve the zest for garnish)
1 tablespoon minced cilantro (reserve a few leaves for garnish)
1 teaspoon minced jalapeño
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt

Combine all ingredients in a glass bowl and stir well to combine. Serve chilled and garnished with fresh lime zest and cilantro leaves.

Alright, so you’ve got your gazpacho, which has helped rehydrate your body and replenish those vital fuel stores within your muscles.

Now, let’s top up the fuel tank with Joy’s “Ginger Lime Colada”. Again, a little different from most “nut heavy” post-workout smoothies but this is another great electrolyte and fuel replenishing raw food recipe:

As you can tell, Joy’s got some really cool raw recipes up her sleeve and she’ll be sharing more of them with us over the next little while.

Stay tuned (and stay hydrated)!

Let’s meet a few of the people whose lives have been transformed through this incredible raw food program..

“Hi Yuri, I’m on week three of Eating for Energy and I can tell you that I do feel better already. So thanks a ton and I’m looking forward to the following nine weeks and the other transformations that I’ll see!”

“The Eating for Energy program is now my Food Bible! You couldn’t ask for a more in-depth look at the good food we should all be consuming on a regular basis. I thought I knew most of the “super foods” on the planet, but now I am truly informed and feel so much better about all this information. Yuri explains everything so well and with a sense of humor. Anyone that cares about their health should get this program!!

“Hi Yuri, your article on ENZYMES has given me back my life – I am a late stage cancer battler (head and neck) literally starving to near death. After the 4th round of chemo, I was skeletal with zero energy.

I appreciated the logic of good nutrition but how to consume enough was the problem. This was where my precious vitamix machine came in useful. After 7-10 days of drinking down raw whole vegetable n fruit smoothies (not the most delicious things I have ever tasted!) but my energy level was and still is unbelievable.

While not able to tackle Mt Everest, yet, I am up and about, self-caring, smiling (because I no longer feel fatigued) and planning to celebrate my 32nd wedding anniversary with a party to thank all my family and friends for their kind prayers and support through my dark journey.

Thanks, Yuri, keep up your good work and may the Good Lord bless you always.”

Pretty amazing stuff, wouldn’t you say?

Each week, I really look forward to reading all these new and amazing testimonials from our newly transformed Eating for Energy around the world.

Will you be next?

Dinner can be one of the best meals of the day to go “Raw” for a number of reasons:

Raw vegan dinners take minutes to prepare – perfect after a long day at work

They can be made in batches in advance, so you don’t need to prepare dinner every night

They will fill you up without being heavy, which is perfect for the last meal of the day

Raw Vegan Dinners Ideas

These dinner ideas will satisfy you and give you the energy to get through the rest of the day, without piling on unneccessary calories that you probably won’t burn off for the rest of the day.

Raw Vegan Soup – there are many Raw soup recipes, such as those in Eating For Energy, which are both energizing and satisfying.

Large salad – salads are perfect dinner meals when bulked out with ingredients such as nuts, seeds, oils, avocados, sprouted seeds etc.

Raw pasta dishes – instead of wheat based pasta that will leave you sluggish and lethargic, make a huge pile of Raw pasta using a spiralizer or vegetable peeler to make “spaghetti” from vegetables such as zucchini, sweet potato or cucumber

Raw curry and rice – make raw “rice” by blending cauliflower until it resembles rice. Serve with raw curry (see the Raw indian recipes section)

Raw Vegan Dinner Recipe Idea

1/2 cup water

1/3 cup hemp seeds

2 cups kale, destemmed chopped

1 1/2 cups apple, cored and chopped

It will kick start your energy, and infuse your body with nutrients. When you start the day with a raw healthy breakfast, then you are much more likely to stick with positive eating habits for the rest of the day.

Quinoa can be the basis of many super healthy breakfast ideas, both Raw and partially Raw.

What is quinoa?

Quinoa is technically a seed (from the Goosefoot plant), although is widely used as a grain substitute. It is gluten free, and is a complete protein source. It is also is a great source of iron, B-vitamins, zinc and copper. It deserves a place as a staple ingredient in every vegan diet, but people are often unsure about how to prepare it. Here is one of my favourite healthy breakfast ideas using quinoa. This recipes use cooked quinoa, which is still incredibly healthy and is ideal for cold mornings, along with an abundance of Raw ingredients. This is a great “Raw transition recipe” for when you are trying to up your intake of Raw food, but still enjoy the comfort and sensation of eating cooked food.

Healthy Breakfast Ideas – Simple Quinoa Porridge

Serves 4
Ingredients

1 cup cooked quinoa, still warm
2 tbsp soaked nuts or seeds of your choice, chopped (almonds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower make good choices)
2 tbsp raisins
2 tbsp dried apricots or figs, chopped
Pinch himalayan sea salt
Pinch cinnamon
1/2 – 1 cup Raw nut milk
Agave syrup or honey to sweeten

Method

Combine all ingredients and leave to stand until nut milk is absorbed. Add more or less milk to achieve the desired consistency.

There are many variations on this quinoa porridge, but as long as you follow the basic principles (nut milk, dried or fresh fruit, plus some nuts, seeds and sweetener), the possibilities are endless.

If you want a 100% Raw recipe, then you can sprout the quinoa and the combine it with nut milk, nuts, seeds and fruit to make quinoa museli.

Other Raw Healthy Breakfast Ideas

If you don’t have time to make a healthy quinoa breakfast, then some other quick and easy Raw healthy breakfast ideas include:

Smoothies (especially green smoothies)
Freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable Juices
Fruit Salad
Raw desserts (which are healthy at any time of day!)

One of the great things about Raw food is that nature has already taken care of much of the preparation for you, and it is pretty much ready to eat the way it is!

But, by taking your culinary skills to the next level with Raw food recipes, you will be able to add even more variety to your diet which can save you from becoming bored.

None of the recipes in Eating For Energy require any special skills or equipment, and you could easily eat a varied and exciting Raw food diet without any of these extras.
However, today we will explore the world of dehydrators, which can add some “warmed” dishes to your Raw food experience.

Dehydrators For Raw Food Recipes

What is a dehydrator?

A dehydrator is a piece of equipment that will both warm and dehydrate food. The great advantages to a dehydrator are that:

a.) It warms the food without heating about 115. This means the nutrients are still intact, and that the food is still classed as Raw.

b.) Dehydrated foods have a much longer shelf life, so they are ideal for for long journeys and trips away from home when your access to Raw ingredients may be limited.

c.) Dehydrators can be used to make Raw treats such as crackers, breads and even Raw pizza crusts. This means you can still enjoy the texture and warmth of many familiar foods, which can make the transition to a Raw diet easier and more enjoyable.

d.) Dehydrators can make use of the pulp left over from making nut milk and juices, which can be used to make delicious Raw desserts and crackers. This means less waste and higher savings on food!

Raw Food Recipes That Can Be Made With A Dehydrator

Here are some ideas of Raw food recipes that can be made with a dehydrator:

Raw granola
Raw burgers, warmed
Nuts and seeds can be soaked and hydrated which switches off the enzyme inhibitiors
Home made sun dried tomatoes
Raw curry, warmed
Raw flax crackers
Raw pizza crusts
Raw flours can be made with the left over nuts from nut milk.

If you are looking to add dehydrated recipes to your repertoire then it is advisable to obtain a collection of recipes designed specifically for dehydrators. These can be found for free with a little research, or special recipe books can be bought

Many Raw foodies recommend the Excalibur range of dehydrators as being by far the best quality available. However, you can find dehydrators much cheaper than this on Amazon or eBay, which may be fine to start off with so you can first see if dehydrated food will play a large part in your diet.
