Recently, a number of comic blogs have thrust spotlights onto the Eben07 comic - which I enjoy, and I am sure D. Bethel does as well, but for our boss who has to keep things quiet and secret… well let’s just say he doesn’t like getting “phone calls from corporate.”

I try and try to assure him that the right thing to do is to spread the word out about the comic - let people read it and be distracted by the artwork and silly words and they’ll forget all about the 638 ways the United States government tried to assassinate Fidel Castro, that nuclear assault on Fort Knox, or the secret location of the Ark of the Covenant (it’s not in Warehouse 13, folks…) or hell - they’ll forget all about the fact that my great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather tried to -REDACTED J. HERMAN SHEPARD- and I’m really just a -REDACTED J.HERMAN SHEPARD-

Plus, do the people that are enemies of the Intelligence Cleaner Agency really read the likes of Fleen? or Two Guys Talking Webcomics? or the Art Patient blog? or the ever funny Muddlecreek? I love reading their well-informed webcomic news and opinions to get a pulse on what’s happening in webcomics, but scouring their pages for our nation’s top secrets?! With all due respect, Mr. Shepard. Our agency isn’t springing leaks because these guys find D. Bethel’s artwork visually compelling.

Even as I sit here with this reprimand in my hand, I have to wonder - wasn’t the whole point of this comic to distract the public’s attention from what we really do? Oh well - I guess it is safe to say Operation: Mongoose doesn’t only have the comic communities attention anymore…

His short films are nothing short amazing - the skill he has in mixing in digital effects with the real world environments.  Another called “Tetra Vaal” shows a robot police officer policing the third world. Of course, probably one of the most seen was the work he did for a promo for Halo 3 called Landfall, after production halted on the Halo movie he was allegedy going to direct with Peter Jackson.

There are a lot of Blomkamp works on the internet, one I’ve had trouble tracking down is the short he did with Peter Jackson called Crossing the Line.

Anyway, I’ll be seeing District 9 as soon as possible. It looks fantastic and I think Blomkamp has a bright future in the movie business.

Eli Kilgore
Inspector
Dept. of Secret Sanitation

Eli has made signifigant strides since beginning with the I.C.A. and has been awarded Employee of the Month for his work as an inspector in the Secret Sanitation department. At first, Eli was found to be pretty useless and we weren’t quite sure he’d last too long in his position. Honestly, he pretty much just sat around and talked about metal and his band, Bloodsignal, while everybody else did his work. Something changed in the last month, and Eli has had incredible marks for his inspection work - perhaps he just found something interesting and he’ll go back to his old ways. Hopefully, we’ll get him inspired to stay the course as he recieves this award.

A historically important revelation about I.C.A. founder Abel’s involvement in the many assassination attempts on Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, in the 1960’s.

Declassification Notes

Just as John Wilkes Booth’s journal had torn pages, so does Abel’s. Cuba stands as a breaking point for Abel; a point of loss, debt, and an evaluation of his purpose. Faithful to his charge, Abel must have hid or destroyed these desperate last details. Between this comic and the next is somewhat of a mystery…

As Abel was the world’s leading espionage janitor - mess cleaner - problem eraser - and was the preeminent authority on the subject with almost 200 years of experience by the 1960s. He could sneak into any location on the globe and return it to polish - free and clear of intelligence liabilities. He was a shadow, a ghost, a completely invisible instrument of mending and cleanliness. His art of infiltration sent him to Cuba - sent by his President to kill another - and commit an act of espionage - something he had no experience committing - but his loyalty, his patriotism, are what forced him go.

Abel’s failure was simple - he was a mess mender; not a mess maker. Failure was in the cards from the get go - shadowy hands guided his fate to this moment - to page 13 - where Abel has lost all control of his former life as the man behind the secrets, keeping the safe - washing them and setting them to dry in the sink guard of forgotten warehouses and paper shredders.

What pains me of Abel’s fate here, is that he had no choice. Some may say choose death… but for a man of Abel’s enigmatic age; perhaps that was not an option either.

Next Tuesday’s comic marks the end of Operation: Mongoose’s release, but certainly will not end this story.

WASHINGTON — Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, according to current and former national-security officials.

The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, these officials said, and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and its controls. The intruders haven’t sought to damage the power grid or other key infrastructure, but officials warned they could try during a crisis or war.
