FREELANCE - High School Graduation Invitation

I had the opportunity to work with Ms. Keirra to custom create Graduation Invitations for her. Keirra's mom had an idea for the invitations and of course Keirra had her own idea for her invitations. So, I brought both of their ideas to life ... they loved them both and decided to get both designs printed (indecisive eh? I love these type of design problems!).

Way to go Keirra with reaching such an incredible milestone in your life - may God continue to bless you and guide you through your new journey of life : )

Photo Tips:

So, you find the perfect picture(s) for your graduation invitation and you're ready to submit them to me for your design. Please make sure that your image:

Is appropriate for a "Graduation" invitation, sometimes when I'm contacted by younger men/women (teens or early 20's) they're images may not be suitable for a classy occasion such as Graduation. Your invitation should be "timeless", you should be able to pull it out of your shoe box ten years down the road and smile (and not frown wondering "What the heck was I thinking?").
Is not CROPPED - this is a big one! Please leave the cropping to me... I work out of pretty large templates and if you submit to me a small cropped picture I may not be able to use it.
Is not a - picture of a picture - this means you pull out your nifty cell phone and snap a picture of another picture to submit to me. This is a BIG "no no"... Phone pictures are not quality and usually have to be stretched to fit in my templates. Also, these type of pictures tend to darken and when I "attempt" to brighten them they usually turn "orange". We're in a digital age now so if you don't "own" your own scanner then please have your pictures scanned at your local library or Office Store (such as: Office Max, Staples, Office Depot, Kinko's, etc.)
Is YOURS! What I mean by this one is... please do not send "watermarked" pictures to me from your school/personal photographer... this means this image does not belong to you and I WILL NOT use it.

FREELANCE - Engagement Party

Last weekend I had the opportunity to customize and print Hershey Bar Wrapper Labels, Monogram Stickers, and Favor Bag Stickers for Theron and Chands' Engagement Party. Their color scheme is Coral, Turquoise, Gold, and Royal Blue. I never saw this color combo together and didn't know how it would turn out, but I am very pleased with the ending results. Congratulations to Theron and Chands' on their upcoming wedding may God continue to bless your relationship and your marriage.

{ Save the Date } Girl Power Back to School Bash

A few weeks ago I came up with the idea to host a "Girl Power" empowerment type of event (or Back to School Bash) for the local girls in my community. Each year I try and give back some sort of way to my community... this year I chose this forum. This event is very personal to me because I have a little girl that is five years old that is graduating from Pre-K next week and will be off to "BIG" school in August. I feel that it is very important and necessary that I instill in her at this young and tender age the importance of being confident in herself and making good choices.

It seems as though children today mature more quickly than children did 5-10 years ago, I know it has a lot to do with them being so desensitized via TV, Internet, and various electronic devices being their main source of entertainment. With so many "new age" influences for our children sometimes it's difficult to be the perfect parent you dreamed (or want) to be. I struggle with trying to find the happy medium with my daughter all the time and she's only five. Since my daughter has been around the age of three years old she's been having issues with self-esteem stemming from the texture of her hair. Ridiculous right?! Other "babies" in her school sometimes tease her or refer to her hair as being "nappy" and anyone that knows my baby personally ... knows that her hair is far from nappy - her hair texture is really soft with dry tight curls. It breaks my heart when she comes home angry, mad, or upset because she is unhappy with her hair or being teased by peers. My daughter always requests for me to "straighten" her hair and most recently asked why wasn't she "white". I know that TV and Internet have all played a major role in forming the idea (to her) that long straight hair is pretty. With so many influences contradicting everything I'm trying to teach her as a parent sometimes I feel like throwing in the towel, but I don't... because I love her and I know if I continuously instill in her positive things and support her when she needs it the most - all of my blood, sweat, and tears will pay off.

Initially, I wanted to focus on the older girls, but then I realized self-esteem is something my daughter has struggled with since the age of three. I believe if we can catch our little one's while they're still young and impressionable providing them with the support and resources they need to understand and respect individual differences we can began to build a community with self confident young ladies. Sometimes it seems as though us new age "modern" parents are so accepting of the (seemingly unusual) things are children say or do... thankfully, I was raised by an "Old School" parent that taught me how to value myself, my body, and to treat others as I would like to be treated. Sounds pretty basic right?... but these basic teachings were the foundation that built me to be the woman that I am today. So, with that being said this event means a lot to me... I want the girls to come into the event thinking one way and leave out thinking something totally different. I want to build a network of support for them and hopefully they will connect with one another and build new friendships and gain a mentor.

I will be promoting this event all the way up until the actual event date; I really want the community to bind together and come out and celebrate our little girls. I’m currently seeking local Volunteers for this event and Sponsors. { Real Party } - Glamorous Princess 3rd Birthday Party

Oh, how I love to see my parties in action... especially when the mom decorating the party is as talented as my good friend Talia with Luxe. Event. Design - who by the way spared no detail when she threw this fabulous "Glamorous Princess" Birthday Soiree for her little one. Talia won a "Party In A Box" from a giveaway thrown on my Facebook Fanpage. I love the way Talia worked the various shades of pink and gold throughout her daughter's party with cost efficient details such as balloons, ribbon, rhinestone embellishments, and fresh florals.

The photo below is simply stunning/breath taking... I love the way Talia took small votives and embellished them with ribbon, rhinestones, gold letters/numbers, and fresh florals - a simple yet powerful "DIY" centerpiece. I also love the gold glittery ribbon she has affixed to the pink and white paper straws ... such a creative idea. Way to go Talia!

Talia customized her "Thank You" favor bags by embellishing them with the party guest name(s)... this one here of course belongs to the birthday girl, "Princess Noah". The glittery "N" with the geometric shapes adds a special touch to the table-setting.

The birthday Princess with her birthday hat and matching t-shirt... what a doll! I'm so happy that I had the opportunity to be apart of such a beautiful, memorable, and personal moment such as a third birthday party for the most adorable little girl - I spoke to her mommy after the party and she reported her little Princess had a blast - and that's all that matters : )

FREELANCE - Air Jordan Themed Baby Shower

This year has been a very busy year for me, and I am eating it all up. It's only April and I'm pretty sure I've designed items for at least 20+ baby shower's (already). This Air Jordan Themed shower is the most unique so far... sometimes I wonder where these Mommy & Daddy's-to-be come up with these out of the world themes? My goodness... this theme really challenged me in a way I thought was never possible!

It was very difficult for me to keep this theme "babyish" as it is such a strong and masculine theme... however, I played up the cupcake toppers and other labels with using text such as; "All Star Baby Shower", "It's a Bouncin Baby Boy", "Mommy & Daddy's MVP", etc. as a constant reminder that these items are for a "shower".

A pet peeve of mine is going to a baby shower, that really doesn't look like a baby shower? I like the idea of having an over the top unique celebration, but sometimes I miss the cheesy ones that had the HUGE baby bottle piggy banks, or bottles filled with candy as favors, and other small reminders to put you in the vibe of a "baby". Overall, this is one of my favorite designs... I rarely get the opportunity to work on "boy" designs so I always dive into these designs wholeheartedly and try to add my own little creative twist.

I've been wanting to do a "girly" theme like this for a very long time, but couldn't find the right color scheme - I played with many variations of pink and purple and finally I decided to go with my favorite color pink and add gold as an accent color (and not just "any" old gold - sparkly glitter gold). I'm very proud of this collection and it can be used for any celebration including, but not limited to: Birthday's, Baby Showers, or maybe even a Bridal Shower (when the clipart is removed). { Real Party } - Rainbow Candyland Party

Some mushy stuff...

My baby girl has finally turned FIVE... I cannot believe how fast she's growing up. I've really enjoyed this journey referred to as "Motherhood" with her and would not change one single thing. Raising her has been a growing and learning experience for me as well... Allure has taught me so many things and has brought out a side ( a good side) of me I never knew existed. I can remember when she was a little baby and I would hold her in my arms and give her the occasional kiss on her chubby little cheeks and she would smile and coo at me, now that she's older we're having "real" conversations and she still "allows" me to kiss her cheeks and gives me that same smile : )

On to the party...

I still can remember to this day when I turned five, what a "BIG" girl I thought I would be... the thought of going to "BIG" school and gaining some responsibility around the house (chores) made me feel very special. Allure is so much like me and her personality almost mirrors mine at times ... everybody calls her "Little Tish". As her fifth birthday was approaching I could tell she had that same feeling I had when I was her age and I wanted to make her birthday party special for her ... something she could remember (and retain as a happy memory and maybe share one day with her own family). So, the theme of her celebration this year was "Candyland". Allure came up with this theme on her own (sort of)... she enjoys the board game.

Initially the plan was to have her birthday party at a local park, but here in Florida in February we can never predict how the weather will be (hot, mild, or cold). This year around her birthday it was cool (not too cold), but extremely windy. Due to other unforeseen circumstances (including the weather) we cancelled the park idea and had the party at our home. We had the party at the home I had completely wrecked with glitter dust everywhere, shreds of paper, glue... just the normal messy house stuff that happens when you're planning a party. It crossed my mind at least five times to just cancel her party all together, because my house was a mess and needed to be cleaned before guests arrived and it was just me and Allure - there was no one there to help me. I can remember while cleaning (only a few hours before the party) thinking to myself, "I can't do this"... I plopped on the couch and Allure ran into the Living Room with her little tutu smiling at me and said, "Mommy, I love you ... I can't wait until "we" decorate my pretty Candyland Party". At that moment, I knew that I could not cancel her party, I could not let my baby girl down ... I had to make the best of our situation.

Table Decor - included rainbow table cloths and sashes, colorful paper/plastic partyware, and Candyland inspired centerpieces (Dum Dum and Chocolate Candy Topiaries, large Lollipops, and other edible sweets).

Candyland Inspired Dessert Table - This Candy Buffet drove the kids (and parents) nuts! They could not wait to dive into this Dessert Table. Each child was able to take home a miniature cup filled with all of Allure's favorite candies, a cookie or cotton candy bag, a cupcake, and of course a delicious piece of birthday cake! The parents were able to take home a clear take-out box (not shown here) filled with candy.

Candyland Inspired Props - It took me some time to figure out a cool way to "personalize" Allure's Candyland party. I first wanted to make sure it wasn't something that's seen all over the web, but something that was cute, spunky and "eccentric"... then with a little "Pinterestration" (Pinterest + Inspiration) I was able to come up with these cool Skittles, Tootsie Roll, Jolly Rancher, and Snicker Bar inspired props.

Just a little something extra for that sweet tooth...

I seriously unloaded candy/sweets unexpectedly on Allure's Party guests (lol!) This party was the true definition of "Candyland"... I made sure to package/wrap all desserts/favors I did not want anyone "crashing" at my home from their sugar high : )

Friends and Family...

When I tell you... my baby girl has a lot of people that love and care about her - I am telling you the truth! It's always amazing when you have a house filled with people who love you and simply want to see you happy and be around you and share (and create) special memories with you. We had close to 40 people in our home and Allure was eating it all up ... because she knew that everyone who was there loved her and wanted to celebrate her special day with her. This milestone birthday meant so much more to us being able to share it with our closest family and friends.

{ FREEBIE } - Black History Month

Today my daughter and myself worked on photographing a freebie that is somewhat of an "oldie"... It's been quietly sitting on my blog since last year (this time). I never got the opportunity to share it last year, because I allowed time to slip right by me and I refused to let it slip by again : )

So, in honor of Black History Month I wanted to share with you my, "I Have a Dream" freebie geared towards the little ones... It's the perfect way to introduce your little one to MLK and other bright and shining stars from the past and present who paved the way for you and me.

The illustrations below were all hand drawn by me (please do not copy/save any of my images without permission from me), they are the available choices for your iron-on transfer and you can choose/download your image here.

Once you download your image, print it on Iron-on Transfer Paper (by the way the image is already "mirrored" or flip backwards). You can find "light" or "white" Transfer Paper at any Walmart, Target, Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, or any similar store - for my image I used Avery Light Transfer Paper. I typically trim off any excess paper when doing a transfer, as you can see below I trimmed my design as much as possible without getting too close to the design.

Follow the instructions via your Transfer Paper package... I usually iron on a "hard" surface that I can really press down on and I always have my handy dandy towel : )

***Note***.... make sure that your iron DOES NOT have any water in it and DO NOT iron on the "steam" setting!

This is the fun part (well... it was for me and my daughter), you can use a permanent marker to allow your little one to practice his/her penmanship by writing his/her name in the blank space provided...

{ Networking } Spectacular Brides of Florida Showcase

January 20, 2013 I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in my second Bridal Showcase (click here to read about my first one) - Spectacular Brides of Florida Showcase. I am referring to this Bridal Showcase as a "blessing" because I DID NOT have to pay to participate as a vendor in this show. Maricel the Lead Event Coordinator with, "Let's Make it Extraordinary, LLC" contacted me with the most amazing news ever (prior to the Bridal Show), stating that an anonymous person was inquiring to know if I would be participating in the upcoming Bridal Show. Maricel informed the person that I would not be participating and the anonymous person responded, that he/she wanted me to be there and would pay for my vending booth.

During my phone conversation with Maricel I remained composed and carried out the remainder of our conversation with plenty of smiles on my face, but when I hung up the phone with her all I could do is SCREAM - O EM GEE - I could not believe someone who knows nothing about me was willing to do something so selfless as to invest in a small business to participate in a large/upscale Bridal Show. This experience was very humbling for me, just knowing that there is someone out there "rooting" for me... little ole' me ... someone wants to see my business blossom and gave me the opportunity to network with people that I may have never had the opportunity to network with. I am so grateful and appreciative and I just want my anonymous source to know I thank him/her 1,000 times.

Opportunities like this NEVER happen to me and it felt good being on this end ... receiving my blessing and grabbing hold to my opportunity to showcase my designs/skills ...

Also, I was provided the opportunity to create the "cover" of the program for the Bridal Show...

FREELANCE { Real Party } Milk and Cookies Baby Shower

This weekend was a very busy one (to say the least) ... I had the opportunity to contribute a few "Eccentric Designs" to Abreiel and Buddy's "Milk and Cookies" Baby Shower (in honor of baby Brisson). { Networking } - Eccentric Designs First Bridal Show

December 9, 2012 I took a great leap of faith and exhibited at my very first Bridal Show held at - Lake Region Yacht & Country Club. I had such an amazing time networking and meeting with local businesses in my community. It was a great show with a nice sized crowd and more than I could have ever imagined it to be : )

It was so awesome being able to witness first hand the "talent" that was sitting right here (in my community) under my nose all of the time ... I had the most difficult time sitting still and "manning" my booth ... I wanted to venture out and connect with the other businesses and get to know all of them.

Admittedly, initially I was a little intimidated going head to head with so many professional and established businesses, but I was welcomed with open arms by all of the vendors. I didn't feel as though I was in a competition while I was at the Bridal Show ... I felt like I was networking with a group of "old friends" and we all had something different to share with the crowd and that's what made each booth unique.

Overall, the experience was great... the only thing I would complain about is MY TIME MANAGEMENT! I didn't get to work on all of my items until the week of the event ... and I've beaten myself up about it plenty of times (since then). I poured my heart into the items I had on hand, but I know deep down within I could have done a better job if I would have managed my time a little better : /

So, I definitely take everything with this entire experience as a lesson learned... I CANNOT WAIT TO SHARE ... the good news that I recently received weeks following this show - stay tuned for details!

Peacock Party { Part One } - My Mama's 50th Birthday Celebration
