Guidelines about JNTU Final Project

The objective of this document is to present the general guidelines for the writing up of a proper Final-project report.

All JNTU B-Tech IV-II students have to do a project in the given time period by the university.

By this time u would have got some idea about the project work as u have done with your mini project in III-II Semester.As in most of the colleges we were given choice to a study project or kit based and this could be done in an Institute,Industry or own.Most of chose to do a study project and were given permission for this and had to work on project during your IV-II Semester & we had to submit this report by the end of IV-II Class work.This project will be evaluated at the end of semester (The mini project and its report shall be evaluated with this final project work).

Basically in this Final project student can take up any Industry oriented application in his/her field of interest in their respective field/branch.First one has to submit an Abstract of the project to their concerned department head (HOD) and once he approves it ,he will assign a project guide to the individual or batch after this project work is to be started. Generally batch for a final project may have 1 to 3 members in it.

Important Points:

1) Final Project will be your key to success because when ever u attend interviews in any company the first question would be "Tell me about your project ?". so do the project with a proper attention on it.

2) Better to do the projects in the fields of latest upcoming technologies so that it would fetch u a plus point during the evaluation of project & also during the interviews.

3) If your role in the project is limited to few modules,Try to have a complete idea on the project (i.e., know about all the modules & steps involved in the project) because during the project evaluation the project supervisor (i.e., evaluator) may put forward few questions regarding the other modules also.

4) Out of a total 200 marks for the project work, 40 marks shall be for Internal Evaluation (The internal Evaluation shall be on the basis of two seminars given by each student on the topic of his project) and 160 marks for the End Semester Examination.The End Semester Examination (viva-voce) shall be conducted by the same committee appointed for industry oriented mini project. In addition the project supervisor shall also be included in the committee.

5) The topics for industry oriented mini project, seminar and project work shall be different from each other.

6) The mini project and its report shall be evaluated with the project work in IV year II semester.

(RESUME) Hot Tips on Resume Writing

1. What is a resume anyway?

Remember: a Resume is a self-promotional document that presents you in the best possible light, for the purpose of getting invited to a job interview.It's not an official personnel document. It's not a job application. It's not a "career obituary"! And it's not a confessional.

2. What should the resume content be about?

It's not just about past jobs! It's about YOU, and how you performed and what you accomplished in those past jobs--especially those accomplishments that are most relevant to the work you want to do next. A good resume predicts how you might perform in that desired future job.

3. What's the fastest way to improve a resume?

Remove everything that starts with "responsibilities included" and replace it with on-the-job accomplishments. (See Tip 11 for one way to write them.)

4. What is the most common resume mistake made by job hunters?

Leaving out their Job Objective! If you don't show a sense of direction, employers won't be interested. Having a clearly stated goal doesn't have to confine you if it's stated well.

5. What's the first step in writing a resume?

Decide on a job target (or "job objective") that can be stated in about 5 or 6 words. Anything beyond that is probably "fluff" and indicates a lack of clarity and direction.

6. How do you decide whether to use a Chronological resume or a Functional one?

The Chronological format is widely preferred by employers, and works well if you're staying in the same field (especially if you've been upwardly-mobile). Only use a Functional format if you're changing fields, and you're sure a skills-oriented format would show off your transferable skills to better advantage; and be sure to include a clear chronological work history!

7. What if you don't have any experience in the kind of work you want to do?

Get some! Find a place that will let you do some volunteer work right away. You only need a brief, concentrated period of volunteer training (for example, 1 day a week for a month) to have at least SOME experience to put on your resume.Also, look at some of the volunteer work you've done in the past and see if any of that helps document some skills you'll need for your new job.

8. What do you do if you have gaps in your work experience?

You could start by looking at it differently.General Rule: Tell what you WERE doing, as gracefully as possible--rather than leave a gap. If you were doing anything valuable (even if unpaid) during those so-called "gaps" you could just insert that into the work-history section of your resume to fill the hole. Here are some examples:Travel and study -- or Full-time student

9. What if you have several different job objectives you're working on at the same time? Or you haven't narrowed it down yet to just one job target?

Then write a different resume for each different job target. A targeted resume is MUCH, much stronger than a generic resume.

10. What if you have a fragmented, scrambled-up work history, with lots of short-term jobs?

To minimize the job-hopper image, combine several similar jobs into one "chunk," for example:1993-1995 Secretary/Receptionist; Jones Bakery, Micro Corp., Carter Jewelers -- or 1993-95 Waiter/Busboy; McDougal's Restaurant, Burger King, Traders Coffee Shop. Also you can just drop some of the less important, briefest jobs. But don't drop a job, even when it lasted a short time, if that was where you acquired important skills or experience.

11. What's the best way to impress an employer?

Fill your resume with "PAR" statements. PAR stands for Problem-Action-Results; in other words, first you state the problem that existed in your workplace, then you describe what you did about it, and finally you point out the beneficial results.Here's an example: "Transformed a disorganized, inefficient warehouse into a smooth-running operation by totally redesigning the layout; this saved the company thousands of dollars in recovered stock."Another example: "Improved an engineering company's obsolete filing system by developing a simple but sophisticated functional-coding system. This saved time and money by recovering valuable, previously lost, project records."

12. What if your job title doesn't reflect your actual level of responsibility?

When you list it on the resume, either replace it with a more appropriate job title (say "Office Manager" instead of "Administrative Assistant" if that's more realistic) OR use their job title AND your fairer one together, i.e. "Administrative Assistant (Office Manager)"

13. How can you avoid age discrimination?

If you're over 40 or 50 or 60, remember that you don't have to present your entire work history! You can simply label THAT part of your resume "Recent Work History" or "Relevant Work History" and then describe only the last 10 or 15 years of your experience. Below your 10-15 year work history, you could add a paragraph headed "Prior relevant experience" and simply refer to any additional important (but ancient) jobs without mentioning dates.

14. What if you never had any "real" paid jobs -- just self - employment or odd jobs?

Give yourself credit, and create an accurate, fair job-title for yourself. For example:A&S Hauling & Cleaning (Self-employed) -- or Household Repairman, Self-employed -- or Child-Care, Self-employed, Be sure to add "Customer references available on request" and then be prepared to provide some very good references of people you worked for.

15. How far back should you go in your Work History?

Far enough; and not too far! About 10 or 15 years is usually enough - unless your "juiciest" work experience is from farther back.

16. How can a student list summer jobs?

Students can make their resume look neater by listing seasonal jobs very simply, such as 6/96 to 9/96.

17. What if you don't quite have your degree or credentials yet?

You can say something like:Eligible for credentials -- or Graduate studies in Instructional Design, in progress -- or Master's Degree anticipated December 1997

18. What if you worked for only one employer for 20 or 30 years?

Then list separately each different position you held there, so your job progression within the company is more obvious.

19. What about listing hobbies and interests?

Don't include hobbies on a resume unless the activity is somehow relevant to your job objective, or clearly reveals a characteristic that supports your job objective. For example, a hobby of Sky Diving (adventure, courage) might seem relevant to some job objectives (Security Guard?) but not to others.

20. What about revealing race or religion?

Don't include ethnic or religious affiliations (inviting pre-interview discrimination) UNLESS you can see that including them will support your job objective. Get an opinion from a respected friend or colleague about when to reveal, and when to conceal, your affiliations.

21. What if you got your degree from a different country?

You can say "Degree equivalent to U.S. Bachelor's Degree in Economics-Teheran, Iran."

22. What about fancy - schmancy paper?

Employers tell me they HATE parchment paper and pretentious brochure-folded resume "presentations." They think they're phony, and toss them right out. Use plain white or ivory, in a quality appropriate for your job objective. Never use colored paper unless there's a very good reason for it (like, you're an artist) because if it gets photo-copied the results will be murky.

23. Should you fold your resume?

Don't fold a laser-printed resume right along a line of text. The "ink" could flake off along the fold.

1. Tell me about yourself.

Keep your answer short and focused on your professional life. This is not the time to bring up relationships, childhood experiences, family etc. A brief history of education, career and special interests is what is called for here. End it with why you are interested in this particular job.

2. Why are you applying for this particular job?

Show interest and demonstrate that you have researched the job and know what you are getting into. Bring up evidence from past work/ studies that supports your interest in this role and any skills you have acquired in preparation for the role. You can say something like 'I would like to work for a leader in innovative network and telecommunications solutions and my college degree in computational mathematics has given me a solid background for this role. Mention the value-added you can bring to the job.

3. What do you know about our company?

Indicate what you have learnt from your research activities - from their annual reports,

newspapers, word of mouth, other employees etc. Use this to flatter them and show that you have done your homework.

4. What makes you qualified for this particular job?

Again, explain that you are very interested in the job and demonstrate what it is about your past experiences, education and qualifications that makes you ideal for the job. Show enthusiasm and support your answers with evidence wherever you can (e.g. my summer internship at Citibank gave me broad exposure to the area of equity analysis and I think I can apply many of the tools I learnt there in this job). Elaborate on all the past experiences and skill sets that make you suitable for the job. In cases where your past experience is not directly relevant, you can still find elements of it that can be useful. Play up team skills, computer skills, leadership roles, specific courses and independent research activities that can be useful to the job at hand to show your initiative even where you don't have directly relevant job experience.

5. What can you do for us that someone else can't?

Demonstrate key strengths, skills and personal characteristics.

6. Why should we hire you?

See 3. Because you have all the experience/ traits/ credentials demonstrated in 3 and in addition to being qualified, you are enthusiastic, intelligent, hardworking, flexible and willing to learn. Also mention any key relationships you may have that may assist you in the job

7. What do you look for in a job?

Be honest. Also mention keywords such as challenging, steep learning curve, good work culture, demanding, rewarding, opportunities for advancement and growth, team environment, opportunity to build and maintain client relationships etc.

8. Why are you looking to make a career change?

Mention your interests and make sure you bring up all skills/ experience however insignificant that can support your move in this new direction. It is quite common in this day and age to make a career switch. You need however to show that you have very carefully thought about the change, have a strong interest in the new career and can use some of your previous skills/ education/ relationships to make that move.

9. Why did you leave your last job?

Do NOT use this as an opportunity to badmouth past employers or peers or talk about a failure of any sort. Any of these answers are acceptable: you were looking for a new challenge, your learning curve had flattened out in the previous job and you were looking for a new learning opportunity, the company or department were restructuring, you were ready to start something new after achieving your career goals at the previous company etc.

10. Why do you want to work for us (as opposed to the competitor companies)?

Demonstrate that you know something about the company, that you believe they are leaders/ innovators in what they do, or you think their work culture is exactly what you are looking for, or you like their product(s) or you have friends who work there and have always been attracted to the company etc. Flatter the company and show you know something about it.

11. How long will it take you to start making a meaningful contribution?

Show that you are enthusiastic and willing to learn and will put in all the hours and effort necessary to learn the ropes and start making an immediate contribution. Indicate that your past experiences/ skills/ credentials will enable you to make an immediate contribution at some level while you quickly learn all new aspects of the job. An Interviewer wants someone who is willing and able to learn and will make a return on his investment sooner rather than later.

12. What are your strengths?

See 14 below. In addition, keywords such as good teamplayer, work very well under pressure, very creative, very strong quantitative or computer skills, and very strong client relationship skills may be appropriate depending on your chosen field.

13. What are your weaknesses?

Do NOT mention key weaknesses here. This is not the place to say you are bad at meeting deadlines or you never mastered highschool mathematics etc. Turn this question around to your benefit. For example, you are 'overambitious' or 'extremely attentive to detail' or 'like to take on too many projects'. Make it sound positive.

14. What are your career goals?

Show you have thought forward and are committed to your career.

15. How would you describe yourself?

Any of these are good examples of attributes employers are looking for: intelligent, hardworking, quick to learn, enthusiastic, honest, efficient, productive, ambitious, successful, compassionate (in the medical fields).

16. How would your colleagues describe you?

Do not bring up anything negative here.

17. How would your boss describe you?

They will check references anyways so bring up the most positive attribute you can think of about yourself e.g. hardworking, honest etc. and leave it to your Boss to say anything to the contrary.

18. What did you most like/ dislike about your past job?

Do not use this to badmouth past jobs/ employers. Keep it light and in your favour eg I outgrew the job, there wasn't a clear career progression, I wasn't learning anything new etc. Ideally, you will have loved your last job and would like to achieve the same kind of success and job satisfaction in a more challenging area as you have now 'outgrown' that job and are ready for 'new challenges'.

19. Describe a situation in your past where you showed initiative?

You could describe any new methods you came up with to do your job or to save money for the company or to turn around a bad situation. It can be something as simple as changing a filing system, or establishing a relationship with a vendor that saved your department a lot of money. If you are in sales, you may want to talk about how you brought in that big account. Creatives may talk about how they came up with that cutthroat image or design that brought in the business.

20. What were your main responsibilities in your last job?

Have these ready and list them all. Dwell on the ones that are most relevant to the new job. This answer should be smooth and practiced.

21. What do you consider your greatest accomplishments?

Many of us have one or two milestones in our career that we are very proud of e.g. that early promotion, that 'huge' deal we brought in, the design we came up with, the costs we saved, the revenues we increased, the people we trained, a new invention or process we came up with etc.

Keep it positive. It's okay to say you were very busy making the most of college and were very involved in sports, activities, social life etc. Employers want human beings not robots. Mention the areas you did very well in even if it was just one or two courses you excelled in. They will check for themselves.

27. What kind of hours would you like to work?

Employers want to see flexibility. Indicate you are willing to put in whatever hours are necessary to finish the job. Do however mention any constraints you have e.g. you would like to be home to pick your kids up from school at 3:30. Most employers are willing to work around your constraints if you show flexibility on your side as well.

28. Do you have any questions for me?

YES you do. Questions engage the Interviewer and show your interest. Ask questions that show you know something about the company or the job, that you are planning ahead, that you are anxious and willing to learn the ropes and that you are committed to the position.

HOW TO APPLY :
Candidates can apply online only from 25.08.2011 to 24.09.2011 and no other mode of application will be accepted.
Pre-Requisites for Applying Online Before applying online, candidates should.
(i) scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph and signature are within the required specifications as given in Annexure II.
(ii) keep the application fee/ intimation charges remittance details (Transaction details such as Transaction No., Branch Name & Code etc.) ready in case of Offline Payment i.e. CBS/ NEFT / Keep the necessary details/documents ready if desired to make online payment of the requisite application fee/intimation charges.

- The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the stipulated criteria.
- The scribe should posses lesser marks than the candidates and not more than 60% marks in his/her own academic stream.
- The scribe may be from any academic stream.
- Both the candidates as well as scribes will have to give a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe mentioned above. Further in case it later transpires that he/she did not fulfill any laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts the candidature of the applicant will stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written examination.

Depending upon his rank, a candidate is recruited to services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and other departments including Finance, Post and Telegraph, Revenue, Secretariat and so on. The appointment offers executive power. Promotions are time bound and increase in privileges are automatic. Selected candidates are first put through a training session for a short period. He is usually sent to an academic staff college associated with the service to which he is allocated. The greatest thing about civil service is the job security. The Indian corporate sector is busy welcoming its campus recruits and the importance of inducting right is the HR flavour of the month. But in a “Circle of Life”-esque sense, with the closure, in this case of a successful hiring season, begins the first step of the next cycle. It is the start of yet another campus calendar and smart companies are already sitting down to chalk out their game plan for the coming year.
Great campus recruitment does not happen by serendipity. It has to be crafted. Each aspect of the campus recruitment life cycle demands attention and, of course, organization-wide commitment.
First the buy-in: A truly acceptable and successful campus recruitment strategy needs a strong training backbone. It is the bane of line managers when campus recruits are “dumped” raw, to be exclusively trained by them on the job, stretching thinner already overextended managerial bandwidths. The consequence: stonewalling of this great channel of recruitment.

The what and where planning: Clarity on requirements and realism in shortlisting campuses are cornerstones for a successful sourcing strategy. Why target a tier-1 institute, unrealistically, when the requirement is best met at a relatively lower-tiered institute? Case studies abound of organizations that have designed great entry-level talent pipelines by doing precisely this— setting aside their egos, targeting the right institutes and then snapping up the best.
CRM is also Campus Relationship Management: Seeing and being seen on campuses, around the year, is a great campus recruitment mantra. Relationships are not built in a day, and reaching out only at recruitment time is so passé.
My favourite is the “3 Circle Model” an organization has perfected. First they flood the campus labs with their products. Then they enter as knowledge partners, offering helpful suggestions for curriculum redesign and workshops to develop technical and interpersonal skills with the beneficiaries as much the teachers (placement coordinators included) as the taught. And finally, with the institute well and truly indebted, they send in the troops, the recruiters. Can anybody quibble if the campus is by then bending over backwards to ensure the company gets premium placement slotting—“Day minus 2” which, as one knowledgeable recruiter helpfully told me, is the new “Day 0”.

Having strong executive sponsors as campus champions for key campuses much as you would for key customers is also a great strategy. And the icing is thick on the cake if said champions are “been there, done that” successful alumni of said institute.
A great bridge to build relationships is to help campuses in their hour of need. A worthy contender, apart from the perennial favourite—funding the campus fests—is the summer internship paranoia. It was addressed by one company innovatively by setting up opportunities for students with the company’s vendor partners—talk of killing two birds with one stone. Continuing on the same theme, another offers students the opportunity for extended project participation on live projects as the nth member, virtual of course.
Branding the drive: Gone are the innocent days when branding only meant thematic and dramatic posters on campus noticeboards. Of course, they exist too, and the smart ones have a complete deck where the posters change every two or three days. But today’s company is ready to use podcasts and viral marketing techniques among students to create a buzz. Career sites of companies are developed as mobile versions to suit the smartphone era. Students are cleverly identified and trained to be brand ambassadors, leveraging the power of peer promotion. And positioning strategies with pizzazz are chosen by organizations to give them a branding edge. Gender diversity as a positioning theme is cool and highly credible when bundled with programmes such as scholarships for high-performing women students.
The not-so-subtle sell of the organization by a “vested-interest” senior is, of course, a great favourite in the immediate run-up to the placement season. But the real differentiator lies in the kit, complete with a set of frequently asked questions (and answers), to control the messaging and give it much-needed consistency.
The moment of truth—the placement season: But all this is the courtship ritual, which builds up to the placement interaction. And the focus here is, of course, on the all-important placement talk. This is the time companies really need to send out their best to hold the audience in thrall. It is not just about whetting the student appetite to clock in for the morrow’s interview, but about the lifetime impression you can leave on a young mind. I have time and again heard individuals talk about placement talks which left an indelible mark on them years after they left college, fondly recollecting the represented company. Who knows—today’s wide-eyed ingénue may just be the lateral candidate you were looking for some years down the line.
It is amazing how many companies just don’t get this. And this same goodwill opportunity boomerangs with some not-so-smart strategies. Blunders can be many—inexperienced “freshers” front-ending the process, unable to handle some “hot potato” questions, disinterested managers who wear a “this is a real waste of time” look while going through the motions, an impatient and affronted suit who sees a perceived insult in a cheeky question and stomps off the dais in a huff.
Placement talks need preparation. Students research the companies they are interested in and have great networks of both current and former employees. They respect honesty. “They told us that it will be a tough environment to work in, success won’t be easy and there will be very slow career growth in the first few years!” remarked one student, impressed with the company’s candour.
And so the stage is set for selection. The interested students sign up for the recruitment process and the selection juggernaut begins to roll. Case studies, group interviews, realistic job previews… But that will keep for next week.

TOTAL ENGINEERING COLLEGES AND SEATS IN ANDHRA PRADESH

In 2011,tatally we have around 3.39 lakhs of seats and720 colleges.when you compare with previous yeat this year 44000 seats are increasing in engineering and pharmacy.among them 40000 seats in engineering,4000 seats in pharmacy.The total engineering colleges and seats in hyderabad are listed below clearly.

seats: 2.70 lakhs
this year(2011-12)
seats:3.39 lakhs
colleges: 720
the above numbers very clear says that,44000 seats are increased along with 16 colleges.

the stats says that,the engineering seats,which are not filling year by year are increasing rapidly.why its happening?there are so many reasons,some think that frr re_embresment effect,and some other saying that the quality in engineering in ap is not familiar and some other says that there was no value for engineering degree in andhra pradesh because of ther was no stuff in college faculties and poor placement records.the problem what ever it may be the seats in engineering are increased.in 2010-11,totally 194175 seats are filled.
this year 2011-12 experts and analyst estimated that atleast 1.2 lakhs of seats will not fill due to 50-50 chances to get the scholarships in this year for students,which has very strict rules to get the scholarship and also they will not release scholarship in time.

COMMON TEST FOR BANK EXAMS NOTIFICATION 2011

Common written exam(CWE) for recruitment of P.O’S & CLERICALS/MANAGEMENT TRAINEES notification was released.The CWE exam will be held on 18th of September,2011.this exam was valid for jobs under 19 banks listed below.In the list INDIAN BANK also included.You can register through online from 9th of august 2011 and the last date to fill the application online 1st of September 2011.After having the exam INSTITUTE OF BANKING SELECTION (IBPS) will send you score cards,which valid for to get the job in 19 banks.The common exam for bank exams was conducted by IBPS,approved by government of India.If any bank (19 banks)given the notification for recruitment means,you have to apply for that job along with your scorecard issued by IBPS.No need to write exam for again and again,your score card is valid for 6 months,And the exam will be conducted by IBPS twice(2 times) in a year.Your score card is valid for only 19 banks listed below,have the look

TIPS For Scoring Good Marks in JNTUK Final Exams

We hope these points will help you a lot for gaining the good marks in your final exams.

The main key point in the final exams is your HAND WRITING. If your hand writing is good then no problem if not then try to write the words clearly and make sure to keep 3 space gap between each word. Try to avoid making mistakes as the evaluator shouldn’t get irritated with your paper.

Another key point is PRESENTATION. It plays vital role in evaluation. along with neat hand writing presentation is also important. Try to write in a point wise manner and write them correctly don’t bluff in the points as it may give bad impression.

Another important point is DIAGRAMS. Most of the subjects in all branches have diagrams, so draw the diagram first before writing the theory part. The diagrams should be neat and clear so that it is clearly understood. Most of the marks can be scored in diagrams only.

If the diagram is too big then draw it in another page instead of drawing in remaining space left in the previous page.

Use a good pencil to draw the diagrams and do some ruff work before drawing it on the original location to avoid the scratches as well as to improve neatness.

Some questions doesn’t have diagrams we don’t find any diagrams in our text books or materials so for that kind of questions from the answer that you know try to develop a diagram or figure so that the complete diagram portraits the whole answer. So that the evaluator doesn’t concentrates much on your theory part.

If the answer contains any equations then try to write the equations separately in the next line and if possible draw a box over it using a pencil.

For programming languages:

Most the questions will be given on programs instead of theory. For these type try to write the program clearly. It is better to confirm the program by doing ruff works if you are not sure about the program.

Try to write the program from the next page if you at the end of the previous page.

Make sure that your program ends with minimum number of lines.

For theory type questions use flow chart representations along with theory and try to give example program to fetch good marks.

Tips for gaining pass marks in your exams:

We can’t expect how the JNTU paper comes. Some times students who prepares well will also unable to answer the questions. But don’t fear here are some tips

If you don’t know any of the questions or if you are seeing that type of questions first time just read the question carefully you will find some known words from that question try to write answer on those words as much as possible.

Don’t write more number of pages from 40 fill at least 30 to 35 but don’t write below 15

The answer should be written at least 3-5 pages

Your handwriting should be neat and clear

In programming languages try to write a related program which you know.

Figures are important in the answers, try to figure out the answer and make sure to draw clearly and neatly.

Don’t leave the paper without writing anything , try to write any related matter on that questions so that you may fetch at least pass marks.
