Permission slips went out for the event in the first week of February and we would like to thank those of you who have returned one. 

Unfortunately, only about half of our students have turned in their permission slip.  The due date for the permission slip and payment of $4.00 to see the play is March 1.  If your student is in need of a scholarship, please check that option on the permission slip.  Many families have donated money for scholarships, so there are several available.  We do not want the cost of the performance to prevent anyone from seeing the play.

Parents, guardians, and students please take a moment to get the slip signed and return it along with the $4.00 fee as soon as possible.

Students who do not return the permission slip with payment or scholarship request will not be able to attend the play.

Completed and signed physician’s physical every twenty-four months (two calendar years)

• Student-Parent Concussion Information Form
• Eckstein Eligibility Card (“blue card”).
• ALL forms must be completed and turned into the Athletics Director prior to participation in practices or competitions.

Eckstein Athletics Progress Report

Currently, Seattle Public Schools is in the process of adopting a new curriculum for Japanese and French.  This is the first time we are undergoing a curriculum adoption in these two subject areas in almost 20 years.  We encourage you to visit our district web site to learn more about the curriculum adoption.  You can do so here: http://www.seattleschools.org/area/curriculumalign/wladoption_index.html.  There is a survey on the web site which we would also encourage you to complete.  We welcome the feedback.  Also, you will have an opportunity to see the curriculum at Eckstein in the coming weeks.  From 02/23, the Eckstein Library will have the materials on display for you to see.

If you have specific questions, please feel free to speak with French teacher Trina D’Angelo about French and Japanese teacher Kurt Thompson or Assistant Principal Chris Cronas about Japanese.  All three staff members are on the curriculum adoption committee and are quite familiar with the materials .

The FUNDRED DOLLAR BILL PROJECT is an important artwork organized by artist Mel Chin that involves 3 million students and educators working together with leading environmental scientists, health care professionals, landscape architects, and arts organizations to neutralize lead-polluted soil in New Orleans.

The initial phase of the project is a fun and simple classroom project appropriate to introduce though social studies, science, community service, history, political science, or art and design. The 3 million FUNDRED DOLLAR BILL “artworks” individually created by students will be collected by armored truck and delivered to Washington D.C. where an even exchange of the value of their art currency for actual funds will be requested.

The FUNDRED DOLLAR BILL PROJECT supports OPERATION PAYDIRT, an innovative art/science project to address lead-contaminated soil and helping to end to childhood lead poisoning in New Orleans and eventually many other cities.
