Some really cool things that I want to share with you guys.

Love this pendant. It is masculine with the matte black surface and an Edison bulb, but with some feminine blingy details:

Also love this ceiling lamp. It is Asian looking but with a very modern twist.

Also how cute are these George Nelson clocks for Vitra? For decades their designs stood the test of time. I will always be enamored with mid-century modern anything.

Ebay win / Sigerson Morrison shoes

I am so thrilled about these new shoes I got really cheap on ebay today that I wanted to share their loveliness. They are by Belle by Sigerson Morrison. I love patent leather flats to begin with, and I find that particular green in patent leather especially adorable. Plus, the cut-out details and the flap in the center of them are very cute, and it is a very nice fit on the feet, as all Sigerson Morrison shoes are from my experience. Plus, we have the woven jute details around the bottom, which I have previously professed to love.

It was a total steal. New in box, and I won it at $33, when it had a retail value of $230. I never pay retail for anything. I shop primarily online; mostly I visit discount sites like gilt, ruelala, ideeli, hautelook, etc etc, and sometimes I come across good deals on ebay as well. Or I use coupon codes on pretty much any site out there when the items I desire go on sale. I save tons of money in a year. And I strongly suggest anybody reading this to do the same. You just gotta be patient, and not impulsively buy anything at full retail value.

I do the same with grocery shopping by using lots of coupons. For example, recently I got John Frieda hair dyes for free at Target. They were on sale at $ 12 , and I had two manufacturer's coupons for $ 5 each and two Target coupons for $ 5 each ( at Target you can use both a manufacturer's coupon AND a Target coupon for the same item), and Target also had an additional promotion of if you bought two, you would get a $5 gift card. So, I bought two and not only did I get the hair dyes for free, but I even ended up making $1. Why not save money when you possibly can? Because anything else is pretty much throwing away money. And everybody, except perhaps for the filthy rich, can use some saving.

Lovely shoes

I want to make a shoes post today. I have always loved wedges, and this summer there were so many to choose from. My favourite has always been the jute ones, because it is such a raw material that it makes the sandal look so natural and organic.

I don't normally wear heels, but high wedges are no problem to walk in. Like this woven jute one by BCBGMaxAzria:

I also love these sandals by Jil Sander. They are a mix of a Birkenstock and color-block wedges. And I have always loved the gray/silver-yellow color combination:

And one of my favourite brands due to the high-quality leather and other materials they use, is Sigerson Morrison, especially their Belle collections. This one with these colorful, beautiful ribbon lace-ups are great flats. They come as wedges too, but I got the beige suede flat ones (it had lots of colors from the ribbons but also was very summery because of the beige suede), as soon as they went on sale for half the retail price. Here is the red one, and below is a picture of the beige suede one on my foot.

My bedside manner

I went with a salmonish color on my bedroom walls, and this is the look of what is on the left side of my bed. The wall decor is antique, the drum side table was bought at Target's online store many moons ago (I don't know if they still have it or not), the chair is from Anthropologie, the candelabra is from a store in Manhattan (forgot the name of the store, as it was long time ago), and is by a Mexican artist. The lamp base is from Ikea, and the lamp shade is by Mibo.

My side table in my living room

I am not that big of a fan of white, but somehow I ended up with this lovely side table vignette in my living room. The bird porcelain box and the decanter are both by Jonathan Adler. The half-porcelain-half-glass vase is by Chapeaux. The table has a glass top, and underneath you can see pebbles painted in silver, with rusty, oxidized-looking in-betweens.

VOOS furniture

I want to talk about a showroom/store in Brooklyn called VOOS. It is co-owned by a friend of mine, Serap Demirag. They showcase and sell unique, creative works by local designers. And since Brooklyn is such a hot spot for innovative design minds, they carry some really noteworthy stuff, some of which are pictured below.

I wanted to share with you my previous finds from Etsy. I purchased these items many years ago, and still love them to this day.

I got these exact prints by Alberto Cerriteno in June 2009. I placed them in floating frames, so the background inside the frame is my red-colored wall in my bedroom. You can check out his items for sale here.

I also purchased these gorgeous antiquey-looking necklaces by 1ofmykind in Feb 2007, and still wear them today.

Now onto a piece I have not purchased, but noticed. This side table by Michael Arras is affordable for a great handmade piece of furniture, and you can customize it.

Jonathan Adler warehouse sale happening right now!

Someone pinch me! I feel like I just got a great birthday present, even though that dreaded date is in December. I went to Jonathan Adler's warehouse sale which is being held in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This was the first day, and I went there 15 min before the opening time, thinking I would be there like a lone bird waiting in front of the gate, but there were almost 50 people already in line when I got there. When they let us in, everyone rushed in. There were so many things on display; pottery, furniture, lighting, etc, but I used my laser eyes to quickly scan the setup and went for what I came for, and lucky me because the faces vase (Dora Maar vase) and the rhino box were only one each on display, which means I was lucky to grab them as early as I did, because they are such sought after pieces.

And this is the awesome craziness of it all: had I bought them all at retail value in store, the cost would have been $ 800, but I only paid $ 120. Another way to look at it is what I paid for all of them is less than half of the store price for the Dora Maar vase.

The sale will continue until the end of May 22. It is at 513 Irving avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

I am editing this post to add that I went to the sale again, because there were a few things that I had passed yesterday, as they were not on my immediate to-buy list, but after re-considering (especially keeping in mind the price, which is a great value), I decided to go get them. So here they are in the picture below. The store value for all those in the picture below is $ 170, while I paid only $ 25 for all of them.

I would not normally go for a straight-up, classic baroque chair, but this acrylic version by Acrila gives it a modern twist; and I am a sucker for a fusion of old & new.

Love this earthy chandelier by Bastien Taillard & Frank Lefebvre. For me pebbles in the ceiling is always a welcome change.

Speaking of pebbles, these KISIMI table lamps and side table/stool by Bleu Nature, that are made from acrylic and pebbles/wood are just beautiful.

I just purchased these on WestElm.com, and wanted to share with you in case you might consider them as well, since right now all these particular items are on sale and have free shipping. Plus, on top of the store sale, I also had a 20% coupon to use, which was a one-time use only coupon, but unfortunately I highly doubt the code I got will work for you, because unlike most coupon codes this is very individualized and I believe different codes were printed inside each mailed catalogue. This is a very long pillow (14" x 36"). Perfect for a bed or a sofa. It is a 100% Indian silk hand loomed Ikat pillow, and it looks very organic and raw.

Love these porcelain birdhouses. Birds not included. ;)

Going with the bird theme today. These plates are too cute to cover with food, no matter how delicious the food is. You may even want to hang them on your wall as a set, if your wall color is complementary. I have enough things on my kitchen walls, so I am just going to eat off of them.

Target find

Over the years I have come across some great finds at Target. I bought a side table, a great red chair with cut outs, a cool bookshelf which I have had now for over 5 years and a lot of plates for the kitchen at great prices at Target. Now I have come across this chair, which I don't need, but I think it is a nice design and is on sale, and one of you readers may be interested. They sell it in two's, so you'd have to purchase a minimum of 2 chairs. I like the wood back with cut-outs. I think wood legs would have worked better with this particular style though, but still it looks good.

A Turkish design company : Autoban

I wanted to dedicate a post to my fellow Turkishmen, Sefer Çağlar and Seyhan Özdemir, the designer duo behind the Turkish design company, Autoban. You can check out their website, which is in English, here.

They do interior design projects in Turkey, but internationally they are more known for their furniture products, most of which you can find in USA, both in stores and online, such as Velocityartanddesign. Here are a few examples:

They marry leather and wood in a very sleek, chic way with clean lines, like in these chairs and sofa.
