We have been organizing Eclipse Day India for last two years with mixed success and responses. It has been good experience so far for most of us. But frankly, we still have a long way ahead of us. So far we have been able to keep it a free-to-attend event. However, we now need to brainstorm our way forward. Easiest thing to do would be to run a poll. But who shall decide the choices? Eclipse Day India is a community event so its best that Eclipse community decide its fate.

I request to all Eclipse enthusiasts to come forward and share your 'uncensored' comments with us. I put forward these three challenges

1. Should the event to charged or continue as free-to-attend.
2. Attracting quality speakers
3. Active community participation

Let us know what you want but also tell us how we can do a better job of achieving them. Together lets shape up a great Eclipse Day India 2012.

From Eclipse Day India

Creating Modeler Using Graphiti Framework (EDI2011 Track 2)

Thank you for making Eclipse Day India 2011 a success. We had more and better presentations made as compared to last year. 50% more attendance - though it could have been much more had all those who registered had turned up.

Thank you Ashwani, Prakash, Supriya, Pavitraa, and everyone who made the event a success.

Thank you SAP Labs India for supporting the event so generously. Thank you Progress Software for continuing your support from last year - the t-shirts look really great.

And a big thank you for all the attendees and speakers - you may the Eclipse community in India rock! We hope to hear more from you so do let your comments and thoughts flow.
Just like previous year, we will have three types of talks. Short talks, Long talks and Extended talks.

Short talks are for 30 minutes. This is a good one if you want to introduce a new concept to the audience (like CSS styling in e4 or using eGIT).

Long talks are in-depth & advanced talks for 60 minutes on a particular topic. e.g: EMF Tutorial. You are expected to cover the advanced stuff with demos

Extended talks are hands-on workshop for 120 minutes. e.g: Workshop on Xtext. You have to walk-through the subject along with your audience and make them understand the complete concept

Submit your proposals here: http://bit.ly/EclipseDayIndia2011Submissions

The last date for submitting the proposal is Feb 28th 2011, but that doesn't mean you have to wait till that date to submit your great talk. Start submitting the proposals at the earliest.
That makes it easy to access all the photos from one single URL: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/eclipsedayindia
From Eclipse Day India

Eyjafjallajökull and Eclipse Day

Mother Nature gave us a nice lesson on Butterfly Effect. How else we can relate an volcanic eruption and Eclipse Day. As you all know, the recent volcanic eruptions at Eyjafjallajökull has literally grounded all European flights. Because of this Daniel Megert could not catch his flight to India. He whats us to convey that it would have been his pleasure to interact with Eclipse community here. Hopefully, we will get another opportunity to catch up with him.

What say?

Here are the rules of the game

Think and prepare a topic related to Eclipse, preferably plug-in development. <s>No slides. No white-boards</s>. No more than 10 slides. Bring them in a USB pen drive. Its OK if you want to do it without slides.

Mention your topic on the Unconference board.

If there are more speakers than the time we have, then there will be a voting. And in that case, only voted topics will get a chance to speak.

You will get not get more than 15 minutes to speak.

Speakers can not participate. They can surely vote though.
