Comic Book Frame Wall

So I have a baby on the way and was setting up the room and I was trying to figure what I was going to do with the walls. My wife came up with the idea to put up comic books on the wall because I like superheroes. So the first thing I did was do a Google search for, “comic book frames” and the first item that came up was, “Ikea Comic Book Photo Frame Hack | Youseph Tanha“. It detailed how Youseph used $1.99 frames from Ikea to add his comic books to his wall and it made a great look. I kept reading and he would put up updates on his readers using his idea. There was one update from Brilliantly Easy blog that said that Dollar Tree has $1 frames that they used to accomplish the same concept. This was perfect because I have a Dollar Tree and I went and found these, “Black Plastic Photo & Document Frames, 8.5×11” and bought 20 of them for my project. All in all I am satisfied how my comic book frame wall came out and thank the wifey, websites and authors for the inspiration.

Sean Price Stole Christmas

Khrysis makes the Grinch his own with a smoothed out sound that makes you nod your head. Kimson Albert provides the slick visuals to add the icing on the cake bringing the whole project together. How do you follow up Kimbo Price which felt like a knockout? With a finishing blow as expected called, “Mic Tyson” to be released October 30, 2012. Sean Price the “Brokest Rapper You Know” needs no introduction but I will educate you anyways. After being attacked by “Monkey Barz” on his first solo album, now it is time for him to lay them all out on his newest joint (see album covers below if it doesn’t make sense). With his latest animated video for the track, “STFU, Pt. 2”, it becomes very obvious what he wants people to do that doubt him. Sean Price still has the crazy wordplay with rhymes that make you rewind to make you think did he just say that. Sean Price’s Mic Tyson is shaping up to be an album of the year contender and really did anyone doubt this.

20 Years of Beat Junkie Sound

The World Famous Beat Junkies was founded in 1992 so 2012 would mark the groups 20 year anniversary. I can still remember seeing a Beat Junkie battle on VHS or picking up theÂ The World Famous Beat Junkies Volume 1 mixed by DJ Babu on cassette and many others. I have seen them do all the individual and collaborativeÂ projectsÂ but they always keep the Beat Junkie sound. The documentary, “The Beat Junkies – For The Record” takes us on a road down memory lane. It talks about how the group formed and how the individual members got into the group. Some of the best moments come from watching how the members still have so much support for each other and how they look up to each other. If you love turntablism and want to know more about one of the best groups still doing it, then you owe it to yourself to watch this.

Arrival Of The Merch Girl

So my package has arrived ofÂ Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl by Murs and Josh Blaylock. If you need it a refresher of what this is then check out the successfully funded Kickstarter page for more information. I ordered the package with the T-shirt and picked the art of Jim Mahfood with his envisioning Â of Yumiko. Included in the delivery was a download card with the album and comic digitally, a hard cover of the graphic novel and the Murs & Foundation CD. I was waiting to get the physical comic to read it but it looks great with the artwork of Jose Garcia with a quick flip through. The RZA With The Iron Fists

The RZA has been doing his thing in the music industry for awhile and has championed his craft in that arena. Now he is tackling the movie industry with the same decimating talents and taking the directing hat and lead actor role in his new movie called, “The Man with the Iron Fists”. He is using the all familiar elements from classic and current kung-fu flicks that we grew up with and adding his own twist to his take on the culture. The premise of the movie is laid out byÂ Wikipedia:

In nineteenth century China, a blacksmith who makes elaborate weapons for a small village, is forced to unite with warriors and assassins to protect the village and defeat a traitor who threatens to destroy them all.

He has also assembled anÂ all starÂ cast with Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Byron Mann, Rick Yune, David Bautista, Jamie Chung, Pam Grier & Jin Au-Yeung. Quentin Tarantino has given his stamp of approval with the “Quentin Tarantin presents…” title and it is written by RZA and Eli Roth. There is no release date yet but I will be in line at the premiere to see this one. Watch the red band trailer below and yes that is RZA punching someone’s eyeball out.

Amazon MP3 Store knows how to make me spend my hard earn money on music by having crazy low prices. I have been on a mission to replace all the music I use to have on cassette tape or lost/stolen compact discs. Amazon is helping out because right now they are having a limited time sale on mp3s for $2.99. My favorite on the list that I didn’t have was, “A Tribe Called Quest – The Low End Theory“. It hasÂ arguablyÂ one of the mostÂ recognizableÂ Tribe song that everyone knows called, “Scenario” but I just could not wait to hear the whole album again. If you don’t have this in your collection or like me need to get put it back in your collection then this is the perfect time to pick it up.

I don’t know if Homeboy Sandman likes every song that I do or it is aÂ stroke of good luck because he keeps releasing videos for my favorite songs off his albums. TheÂ latestÂ creation from his album, Chimera is the moving video for the music, “Hold Your Head”. In the music video Homeboy Sandman tries to time travel to transform his life. It doesn’t work out the way he wants but he still holds his head up and delivers a message to his present self to not give up. If you are going through bad times this song is your motivation to stay up.

Incredible Katamari Hulk?

Found this nice piece of work byÂ Fennewalde on DeviantArt called, “We :RAWR: Katamari”. It combines my favorite comic book character the Incredible Hulk with my favorite game Katamari Damacy. He uses pencil and photoshop to illustrate the Hulk going berserk in the Katamari world. Here is what the artist has to say about his work:

Super Baked In A Cage

So I was listening to some of Cage’s previous albums and decided to do a little search on the internet to see what he is up to. Well I hit the jack pot because it seems like he will be dropping two EPs in the near future so he is dropping new joints on his SoundCloud page. All of the songs are jamming on there but the one that caught me the most was his song called, “Super Baked”. ProducerÂ FSTLANE gives Cage the perfect backdrop to infuse his haunting lyrics over and they blend perfectly. I can’t wait for the new albums and the new songs he will be leaking on his page. Pep Love Tells Us With Rigmarole

I have always been a fan ofÂ HieroglyphicsÂ and their music and I am still glad they are still putting it down for hip-hop. They have never stopped so this is not a come back. It is just time for Pep Love to shine on his own with his new album, “Rigmarole“. Rigmarole has lots of different meanings but I think this one would suit it best:

Which is why we are getting this album now. Â The first single and video, “Can’t Nobody Do It Like Us” (see below), doesn’t need to be explained it is just want it says nobody does it like Hiero.Â The second single and video (see below), “Hip Hop My Friend” does a great job of making you feel the way you felt the first time you heard good hip-hop in your soul with a sample to get you in that zone. The album will be released March 6, 2012 and he currently has a pre-order (which I bought the deluxe verison) of three bundles:

ESP Gaming Agenda: The Backlog

If you are like me then you have the too many games and not enough time to play them. It is the infamous backlog of games thatÂ accumulateÂ over time that can not be avoid thanks to websites such as CheapAssGamer, Amazon Digital Download and the Steam sales. So I have set a goal (new year resolution?) to complete and chip away at this growing list of games. So far, I have beat several games and wanted to give a quick recap of each game:

Saints Row The Third
What is not to love about this game with its over the top gameplay and insane story line I will be looking for the next installment.

Battlefield 3 (Single PlayerÂ CampaignÂ and Multiplayer)
What can I say about Battlefield 3 that hasn’t already been said a million times in tons of reviews. Just go play it and enjoy it too.

Bioshock 2
The twist is in the first one you fought Big Daddies and in this one you are one. If you choose the evil route you get a demented ending that I will not spoil here.

Red Faction: Guerrilla
A open sandbox game that gives you hammer and stuff to smash sound fun? Yes it is.

Battlefield Bad Company 2Â (Single PlayerÂ CampaignÂ and Multiplayer)
An unorthodox group of soldiers have to save the world and give you all the weapons and vehicles you will need.

Just Cause 2
Open your parachute and discover all the secrets on the island of Panau while people shoot at you.

ESP Music Agenda: Bigg Jus

One thing I always worry about is when a group breaks up or want to put out solo albums is that one artist gets the shine and releases more music. It happened to Dilated Peoples with Evidence, Vast Aire and countless others putting out multiple albums while their counterparts Rakaa, Vordul Mega and others put out one or two at the most. This happened when Company Flow went separate ways with El-P making his label with a sudden stream of albums with Bigg Jus starting a label and putting out two solo albums and twoÂ collaborativeÂ albums but then he seemed to slow his output. Well all of his can rejoice because he is back with a single called,Â “Advanced Lightbody Activation“. It is that futuristic on the next level music that you expect from the King Spitter himself. Not only that we found out he is releasing an album called, “Machines That Make Civilization Fun” on May 8, 2012 andÂ with a title like that you can only imagine what he is cooking up for his fans. If you go to the Mush Records’ (the label putting out his new album) Sound Cloud page you are enticed with the new sound that will hitting your ear lobes. Saints Row: The Third Gets A Little Cheapy

You know I like cheap games and I have put over 57 hours into Saints Row: The Third. So how can the two get combined and make me put in more hours, well put some Cheapy D on it. That is right my favorite website for looking up cheap games, CheapAssGamer has gotten the owner of the website Cheapy D into the game as a DLC coming on January 17th. He won an auction to become a playing character in the game. Here is a video showing Cheapy D messing people up and getting burned at the end. ESP Music Agenda: The Dirty Politicians

So it is another year with another new site design and another ESP Music Agenda. This one makes me proud because it comes from my brother Cardiac and his group, The Dirty Politicians. They are making moves in Bakersfield (Killer Kern), California and have opened up for some big names such asÂ 2 Live Crew, Onyx, Sean Price, Rakaa , Afro Man, Tech N9ne, Sand People, Luckyiam, Sic Jacken, Keith Murray, and more. I have even put one of their songs, “Rockey Red Eyes on theÂ Ecliptic Sight Podcast: Future EditionÂ and one of theirÂ live show videos. So I have been waiting for this and now I can put the world on The Dirty Politicians album, “Dirty Architecture” on Bandcamp. If you have been missing that west coast music like I have then you will be happy to add this to your catalogue. With songs like, “Flip the Page” that talk about their trials and tribulations to, “West Up” you will been nodding your head until it falls off. With Merge on the beats, he is crafting music that is intoxicating that will make you appreciate real hip-hop again. I can not speak highly enough about The Dirty Politicians and their music. Cardiac and Merge have dropped the visuals for their song, “Cold Box” off the album, “Loose Leaf & Lead” on Youtube that is directed by Evil Duer of the group and it shows that their creativity doesn’t just stop at the music. Blame it on the games, Batman: Arkham Asylum (playing the the first one because I already bought Arkham City), Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. I will try to keep up but with the holidays in full swing and great games coming down the pipeline it will be hard to juggle everything. Slaughterhouse!!!!

I have been telling people that Slaughterhouse is about to blow up and I have had a couple of examples to give them. They are fourÂ separateÂ artists Â Crooked I,Â Joe Budden,Â Joell OrtizÂ andÂ Royce da 5’9″Â that have been doing their thing on the solo tip then they performed a song on Joe Budden’s Â “Halfway House” which they knew they had a chemistry to form the group. They released their first album, “Slaughterhouse” in 2009 on E1. In 2011 they released an EP called,Â Slaughterhouse EP, to hold over the fans until they could finish up their Shady Records debut album. They say they are about 75% finish with that album which I know will finally put them on the map. So to display their lyrically ingenuityÂ Eminem, Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse decided to go to the B.E.T. Awards 2011 Hip Hop Cypher and murdered the whole thing. Now back to your regular Ecliptic Sight program: I made that sound like something epic was happening but it is the just the new marketing (genius?) campaign from Sony called “Long Live Play. The video above just makes me think that we are changing lives when we play games it was perfectly executed allowing us the viewers to be drawn into their make-believe world. They also make us keep watching the video so we can try to spot and identify all the characters in the video. That is all i got I have to get back to my gaming.

Copperthistle Starts Anti Biters Coalition

Let me start off by saying all the art below does not belong to myself or Ecliptic Sight. All rights and artwork is by digital artist known asÂ Copperthistle on Deviant Art. I put that disclosure at the top because it seems he has a problem with biters (people that steal his work without giving credit to him). So he transformed it into art by starting the Anti Biters Coalition.

The concept works well with his hip-hop inspired work which also has a lot of biters in the industry. Here Copperthistle transforms MF DOOM into a zombie with the dark colors flowing into the haunting image of him devouring human remains.

Trying to expand my vinyl catalog and was surprised by a nice little gem some record companies are doing to keep buyers purchasing physical copies. They are adding digital download cards to the vinyl so you have it on the computer as well on your turntables. I definitely support this movement because it is easier than trying to rip your vinyl and separate the songs through an audio program. Little Work Makes Big Design

I first witnessed Juart Little’s impressive work at DeviantArt and was taken back by his use colors and expressions. He definitely chooses some of my favorite artists to give his interpretation through his designs. Little has drawn Aesop Rock, Cypress Hill, Planet Asia, Afu-Ra, Pharaohe Monch, RZA, Tash, Immortal Technique and many others giving the underground hip-hop some shine. Juart’s art does not stop at hip-hop and his work goes from tattoo designs to fonts and much more. His website at digitalbluecollarworker.com displays his work in a simple but elegant way to let his designs become the focal point.

I love it when I stumble across music like this. I was on Fifth Element to see if they had pre-order on the new Evidence album. On the front page I saw an album cover for a group I have never heard of. They are called Soulcrate Music and the album is, “The Kick Rocks Collection” and I clicked the link to see what they were about. So I ventured to YouTube to see if I could find their videos and was greeted with this one called, “See Today” off their album I mentioned above. So I thought I would share a new group I discovered so you can do the same.

ESP First Impression: Denon AH-D2000

I have just received my Denon AH-D2000 headphones and instead of giving a full review with such a short time with them. I thought I would point out what initially stands out to me.

Simple packaging with no filler, so less stuff to throw away
Packaging contains: heaphones, 1/4 (6.3mm) adapter and instructions
Large and comfortable ear cups
Wore for several hours without any discomfort
Nice nylon thick cables for plugs
Gold connectors for 3.5mm and 6.3mm
1/4 (6.3mm) adapter actually screws in for secure connection
Seems to have a very sturdy housing and built to last
Sound is impressive with music, games and movies (this is subjective)
Not overly bass heavy (but it is there) and seems to reproduce a more natural soundscape (this is subjective)
Drives mp3 players without needing to turn the volume all the way up

Stones Throw does a lot for music such as dropping the latest Madlib track or delivering the soulful crooning of Aloe Blacc. Now it looks as if Stones Throw will beÂ responsibleÂ for more music video content. With their 15 year anniversary, they decide they wanted the fans to get involved by having a video contest. With the vast catalog of Stones Throw aspiring music video directors only had thier own creative stopping them. The contest is now over and Stones Throw will be announcing the winners soon but you can still see all of the entries on Stones Throw’s Vimeo page. Serius Jones Takes A Well Deserved Victory Lap

ESP Music Agenda: Albums Unexpected

There are two albums that definitely caught me by surprise with releases this month. First up is a new Wu-Tang album entitled, “Legendary Weapons” similar to how their last album came out of no where called, “Chamber Music”. I will never complain about any Wu music because I have purchased my fair share of releases and they have been on a streak of hits with their recent solo efforts. The album will be out June 28th.

Next up is also a treat with the team up of Eminem and Royce da 5’9″ also known as Bad Meets Evil. If you heard the song, “Scary Movies” and this does not make you drool over this project then I do not know what is wrong with you. The new EP will drop on June 14th. With two powerhouses coming out in June this looks like a great month for Hip-Hop and music in general.

IMA-ONE creates a Robot Robinson

John Robinson delivers fierce lyrics to any track he spits on. Now he has teamed up with Robot Koch to transform into Robot Robinson. Their sound is a mash up of Hip-Hop and Electronic music to nicely combine the genres. Robot Robinson did not stop with their sound scape and injected it into their artwork with the help of IMA-ONE. IMA-ONE is a graphical genius from the land of Japan and gives his own unique spin on their concept. ESP Music Agenda: Hail Mary Mallon

So you are probably wondering who is Hail Mary Mallon? Well the answer is Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz teaming up to bring you that back and forth flow with deadly cuts that has been missing from groups recently. The name, Hail Mary Mallon is in reference to:

Mary Mallon aka Typhoid Mary, the first person in US identified as a carrier of the pathogen associated with typhoid fever.

Their first single, Smock has a hypnotic beat with Aesop and Rock carrying the verses while DJ Big Wiz provides the cuts. Hail Mary Mallon gives the visual treatment to Smock with the group driving around San Francisco with special guest appearances from DJ Big Wiz, Kimya Dawson, and artist/illustrator Alex Pardee.

Rhymesayers Entertainment will be delivering the digital release of this super group to the masses on May 3rd, 2011 with the physical CD and double colored, etched vinyl on June 7th 2011.

Tips To Beautify Your MP3s

So do you have a boring foobar that looks like this:

Well with a couple of programs and websites you can have a better layout and/or take your mp3s to any program or mp3 player and have them prepared for primetime. So let us start off with a couple of places to purchase your mp3s to begin with. The first one is a oldie but goodie, Amazon MP3 store. They have millions of albums to choose from and exclusive and daily deals to sweeten it. The newer one on the block is 7digital.com and they are becoming my favorite with there new releases usually being $5 dollars and a locker so you can redownload your mp3s.

The first program to acquire to make sure everything in you mp3 tags are correct is a gem called Mp3tag. You can go through each song or album and fix your tags with the correct information. It has alot of built in tools to accomplish this such as case conversion, tags to filename or using a website to update your mp3s information.

That being said the next website to visit is MusicBrainz.org for mp3 information. They have loads of people that submit album tags so you are more than likely to find the right version of your album on there. You can also register to become a member and update or add albums in there databases but rest assure most likely they will already be there. Another nice feature is that it is built into the Mp3tag program so you can use the database in there.

The final website to bring all this together is AlbumArtExchange.com. They have tons of album art to embedded in your mp3s so that you can view them on foobar or your mp3 player. They usually have artwork 600 pixels or bigger to spruce up your player of choice.

So you may remember Nabil Elderkin from the Homeboy Sandman music video that I posted awhile ago. Well now he takes it to the next level and grabs one of my favorite songs from Damian Marley & Nas are Distant Relatives album called, “Patience”. Nas has always been a visual lyricist weaving his words to paint pictures in your mind and Damian Marley comes with his deep rooted soundscape to collide with Nas’ wordplay. The result is one of best collaborations to happen in music. Nabil Elderkin infuses visuals and camera work that compliments their music perfectly making it a masterpiece.
