The African Energy Chamber has reinforced its strategic partnership with the Republic of Congo following a high-level meeting between Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk and newly appointed Minister of Hydrocarbons Stev Simplice Onanga in Brazzaville this week. The discussions signal a renewed push to accelerate investment, strengthen local capacity, and expand the country’s liquefied natural gas footprint.

Held shortly after Minister Onanga’s appointment, the meeting highlighted a shared focus on faster and more efficient deal-making across Congo’s oil and gas sector. Both sides agreed that reducing delays in project approvals and execution will be essential to maintaining the country’s competitiveness and attracting fresh capital into upstream and gas developments.

Building Local Capacity and Strengthening SNPC

A central theme of the talks was the development of a stronger domestic oil and gas industry. Minister Onanga outlined his ambition to see Congolese companies evolve beyond traditional service roles into operators, license holders, and regional players capable of competing across African markets. This vision includes building firms that not only support domestic projects but can also export expertise and services beyond Congo’s borders.

The African Energy Chamber welcomed this approach and committed to working closely with the Ministry to support the emergence of a new generation of competitive Congolese companies. Efforts will focus on strengthening technical capacity, improving access to field development and drilling opportunities, and enabling greater participation by local firms across the value chain.

Discussions also emphasized the importance of reinforcing Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo. Minister Onanga expressed the goal of transforming the national oil company into one of Africa’s leading energy players by expanding its role beyond partnerships with international oil companies to include asset management, project leadership, and direct involvement in exploration and production.

“Congo is focused on building a stronger national energy ecosystem from the ground up,” Ayuk said. “We agreed with the Minister on the need to develop Congolese companies into competitive players that can scale beyond borders. Strengthening SNPC is central to this, so it becomes a more active operator managing and developing assets.”

LNG Expansion and Regional Energy Positioning

Beyond local industry development, the meeting reinforced Congo’s ambition to strengthen its standing within Africa’s energy landscape. Minister Onanga highlighted the importance of aligning national strategy with continental priorities, drawing on his experience as former Chair of the Board of Governors of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization. Continued engagement with institutions such as APPO and OPEC remains central to this approach.

Gas development, particularly floating LNG, was identified as a key growth pillar. Congo has already made notable progress through projects such as the Congo LNG development led by Eni, which includes the Tango FLNG unit and the upcoming Nguya FLNG facility. Together, these projects are expected to lift the country’s LNG export capacity to around three million tonnes per annum.

Building on this momentum, discussions explored the potential for additional FLNG developments. With favorable conditions and ongoing project discussions, further expansion could significantly scale production, strengthen export revenues, and support domestic gas utilization and industrial growth.

“With Minister Onanga, we’re seeing a real commitment to getting things done — moving deals faster, empowering Congolese companies, and scaling LNG,” Ayuk said. “The stars are aligning for Congo to lead the continent in floating LNG.”

With renewed emphasis on fast-tracked investment, local industry development, and LNG expansion, the African Energy Chamber’s engagement with Congo signals a more execution-driven phase for the country’s energy sector, aimed at delivering long-term growth, stronger regional influence, and greater in-country value creation.

Martin Deffontaines, Country Manager for Angola at TotalEnergies, has been confirmed as a speaker at the Angola Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for September 9–10, with a pre-conference day on September 8. His participation comes as the company advances a broad offshore expansion strategy and positions itself for the next phase of Angola’s oil and gas development.

As one of Angola’s largest oil producers, TotalEnergies continues to play a central role in efforts to sustain national production above one million barrels per day. Deffontaines is expected to provide insight into how the company is aligning brownfield optimization, frontier exploration, and deepwater investment with Angola’s long-term production goals.

Extending Core Assets and Unlocking Additional Value

A key pillar of TotalEnergies’ strategy in Angola is maximizing output from existing producing assets. Earlier this month, the company signed a Principles Agreement with the National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency to extend its license for Block 32 through 2043. The agreement outlines the framework for the block’s continued development and includes provisions for the potential application of the Incremental Production Decree to support output growth.

Block 32 remains one of Angola’s most significant producing assets, encompassing six fields and including the Kaombo project. The license extension signals a long-term commitment to sustaining production from mature offshore assets while leveraging regulatory mechanisms to enhance recovery.

Expanding Into New Offshore Frontiers

Alongside asset optimization, TotalEnergies is pursuing new exploration opportunities offshore Angola. In March 2026, the company signed an agreement with the ANPG and ExxonMobil for the allocation of four offshore blocks in the Benguela and Namibe Basins—Blocks 40, 41, 42, and 58. The agreement sets the stage for the formal signing of contracts and future exploration activity in underdeveloped basins.

This follows a 2025 agreement between TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, and the ANPG to study and evaluate the Free Areas of Blocks 17/06 and 32/21. The initiative focuses on identifying new prospects within two of Angola’s longest-producing offshore blocks, supporting longer-term production continuity.

Deepwater Projects Drive Future Growth

TotalEnergies’ investment pipeline in Angola is anchored by large-scale offshore developments, led by the Kaminho deepwater project in the Kwanza Basin. Representing a $6 billion investment, Kaminho is the first major deepwater development in the basin and is expected to produce approximately 70,000 barrels per day through an FPSO incorporating lower-emission technologies. Final investment decision was reached in 2024, with first production targeted for 2028.

The project builds on recent operational milestones achieved in 2025, when the Begonia and CLOV Phase 3 offshore developments came onstream, adding a combined 60,000 barrels per day to the company’s Angolan output. Together, these projects reinforce TotalEnergies’ position as a leading offshore operator in the country.

Deffontaines’ participation at the Angola Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition comes as Angola intensifies its focus on production sustainability, offshore economics, and deepwater investment. As one of the country’s largest international investors, TotalEnergies continues to influence strategic discussions shaping the future of Angola’s offshore oil and gas sector.

Greenpeace Philippines has strongly criticized Shell plc following its reported $6.92 billion quarterly profit, saying it reflects a global energy system that continues to prioritize fossil fuel earnings despite escalating climate impacts and rising living costs affecting households worldwide.

The group also urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to accelerate the country’s transition away from fossil fuels and strengthen accountability measures for major polluters. Greenpeace said continued dependence on oil and gas is worsening both environmental risks and economic pressures on vulnerable communities.

<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1752706097657216"

Shell profit criticized

Greenpeace Climate Campaigner Jefferson Chua said Shell’s earnings highlight the long-term environmental and social costs of fossil fuel dependence. He stressed that corporate profits are closely tied to emissions-driven climate impacts that continue to affect communities.

Chua stated, “Shell doesn’t need to launch missiles to cause immense suffering. Its profits are built on decades of emissions, environmental destruction, and extreme weather events that continue to destroy homes, livelihoods, and lives of Filipinos.”

He added that global supply disruptions and geopolitical tensions are being used as opportunities by fossil fuel companies to expand operations rather than shift toward cleaner energy systems.

Chua said, “Shell has shown that it will take every crisis as an opportunity to profit. Instead of abandoning oil and gas in favor of renewable energy, fossil fuel companies responded to supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz by expanding operations elsewhere.”

He also criticized continued fossil fuel expansion projects, arguing that these deepen the cost-of-living crisis as households face rising prices for food, fuel, and electricity.

Fossil fuel accountability push

Greenpeace Philippines renewed its call for stronger government action on fossil fuel accountability, including support for the proposed Climate Accountability Bill. The group said polluters should be held responsible for environmental and economic damages caused by emissions.

Chua emphasized that fossil fuel profits come at a growing global cost and said governments must act decisively to protect communities from further harm.

He stated, “These greedy corporations must be stopped from further tying down the world to dirty energy sources, as their greed also pushes us away from reaching our climate targets.”

He added that the Philippine government must accelerate a just transition to renewable energy and ensure affected communities receive justice and compensation from major polluters.

Chua said, “President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. must urgently accelerate a just transition away from fossil fuels. Instead of allowing companies like Shell to profit from the suffering of Filipinos, the government must make these polluters pay.”

Enlit Africa 2026 will place commercial and industrial (C&I) execution at the center of its agenda on Wednesday 20 May, with a focused programme spanning the Power Hub, Water Hub, and Renewable Energy & Storage Hub at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The event runs from 19–21 May 2026 and is created by VUKA Group, bringing together utilities, municipalities, financiers, developers, large energy users, and technology providers to address real-world infrastructure delivery challenges across Africa.

C&I delivery focus

The 20 May programme opens with a keynote session titled “How a coordinated energy/water plan could change African resilience” scheduled from 09:30–11:45. The discussion frames energy and water as interconnected operational systems that require coordinated planning rather than isolated management.

The agenda then transitions into practical implementation tracks aimed at decision-makers responsible for delivering and sustaining large-scale projects across industrial environments. The focus remains on execution, investment readiness, and operational reliability across sectors.

In the Renewable Energy & Storage Hub, the sessions move directly into project execution topics such as “Project implementation for multi-megawatt C&I projects” from 11:45–13:00. The programme continues with “Clean energy adoption in the C&I market” from 14:30–15:45, followed by “Mobility: Management of electric vehicle fleets for C&I” from 16:00–17:30, highlighting operational electrification strategies for enterprises.

<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1752706097657216"

Water and energy systems

The Water Hub agenda addresses industrial water reliability and compliance requirements through a series of technical and applied sessions. These include “Next-generation water treatment technologies” from 11:45–13:00, followed by “Advanced water treatment & smart water systems” from 14:30–15:45, and concluding with “Accelerating water technology deployment for C&I operations” from 16:30–17:30.

The programme structure reflects a growing regional emphasis on integrating water and energy systems into unified operational strategies rather than treating them as separate infrastructure challenges.

Together, the three hubs create a consolidated platform designed for utilities, municipalities, and industrial operators focused on execution rather than theory, with an emphasis on deployment, scalability, and measurable infrastructure outcomes.

Have you ever noticed how a simple spin feels more exciting when music, clicks, and small win sounds play at the right moment?

Sound has a strong effect on how players feel during a game. It can make a quiet screen feel active, add tension before the reels stop, and make even a small result feel more memorable.

Sound is not added by accident. It helps shape the mood of the game from the first second. A soft background track can make play feel relaxed, while faster beats can make each spin feel more energetic. This is why audio plays such an important role in online casino games, especially in games built around quick results and repeated action.

Why Sound Matters In Slot Games

Sound helps players understand what is happening without needing to study every part of the screen. A spin button, a reel stop, a bonus trigger, and a win can each have a different sound. These signals make the game easier to follow and more engaging.

Sound Creates A Sense Of Motion

When the reels begin to move, the sound often rises with them. This gives the feeling that something is building. As each reel slows down, the sound may change slightly, making the moment feel more intense. Even before the result appears, the player can feel that the game is moving toward an outcome.

In many online discussions, a slot game is often described by its look, theme, and bonus features, but sound is just as important. A game with weak audio can feel flat, even if the visuals are strong. A game with well-timed audio can feel lively, even when the basic rules are simple.

Sound also gives structure to each round. The start of a spin, the middle tension, and the final stop all become clearer through audio cues. This makes the experience feel smoother and easier to follow, especially for players who enjoy short sessions.

A good sound pattern can also make repeated play feel less plain. Since many rounds follow the same basic action, audio helps prevent the game from feeling too still. Small changes in pitch, rhythm, or effects can keep attention on the screen.

Music Builds The Mood

Music gives a game its emotional tone. A game with an adventure theme may use drums and rising notes. A calm theme may use softer sounds. A bright, playful game may use cheerful melodies. Each choice changes how the same spin feels.

Background Tracks Support The Theme

The background track is usually not too loud or too busy. It sits behind the action and supports the overall feeling. When it works well, players may not even think about it directly, but they still feel its effect.

Some players prefer games that allow flexible starting amounts, and terms like depo often appear in online searches connected with low-entry play. In this setting, sound can make short sessions feel more complete, because even a few spins can carry a clear mood and rhythm.

Music also helps connect the player to the theme. If the game is based on ancient ruins, the sound may feel mysterious. If it is based on fruit symbols, the music may feel light and quick. This connection makes the game feel more like a small scene rather than a plain set of reels.

Strong music can also help players remember a game. People often recall a tune, a win sound, or a bonus effect long after they stop playing. That memory can make one game stand out from many others that may look similar at first glance.

Win Sounds And Player Emotion

Win sounds are some of the most noticeable audio elements in these games. Even a small reward often comes with a clear sound effect. This makes the result feel more satisfying and gives the player instant feedback.

Small Signals Can Feel Powerful

The sound of coins, bells, chimes, or rising tones can make a result feel more exciting. These sounds are usually short, sharp, and easy to recognize. They tell the player that something positive has happened.

However, sound can also affect expectations. A loud celebration for a small result may make the win feel bigger than it actually is. This is why players should enjoy the entertainment value while still paying attention to the real outcome shown on the screen.

Bonus sounds are another important part of the experience. When special symbols appear, the audio may become more dramatic. The pace may slow down or grow stronger as the player waits to see if a feature will start. This builds suspense without changing the basic result process.

The best audio does not need to be overwhelming. It should support the action rather than distract from it. When sound is balanced, the game feels more polished and easier to enjoy.

Why Silence Can Also Matter

Not every moment needs sound. Short pauses can make important effects stand out more clearly. A quiet second before a bonus result can create more tension than constant noise.

Balance Keeps The Experience Comfortable

Too much sound can become tiring. If every spin feels loud, the excitement may fade quickly. Balanced audio gives players enough energy without making the game feel heavy or stressful.

Many games also include volume controls because players have different preferences. Some enjoy full sound, while others prefer softer audio or silence. Giving players control helps make the experience more comfortable.

In the end, sound turns simple spinning action into something more active and emotional. It helps guide attention, build mood, signal results, and create suspense. When used well, audio can make a basic game feel more alive while still keeping the experience easy to understand.

Choosing slot games wisely involves more than visuals and themes. Understanding paytables, volatility, budget, and pace can help players make more informed entertainment decisions.

The post The Player’s Guide to Choosing Slots With Better Awareness appeared first on Eco-Friendly Tips PH.

Have you ever opened a slot game and felt unsure about what truly makes one choice better than another?

Many players pick a game based only on the cover image, sound, or first impression. Those things can make a game feel fun, but better awareness comes from looking a little deeper before pressing spin.

Slots are simple to start, yet each game can feel different once you spend time with it. Some games give frequent small wins, while others stay quiet for longer and then offer larger possible results. Some focus on bonus rounds, while others keep the pace steady and direct. Understanding these differences helps players make calmer choices and enjoy the session with clearer expectations.

Understanding What Makes Slots Different

A slot game may look simple on the surface, but several parts work together behind the screen. The layout, symbols, paytable, bonus features, and return rate all affect how the game feels. A player who looks at these details before playing is less likely to feel confused by the results.

Reading The Game Before Playing

The first useful step is to check the paytable. This section explains which symbols pay, how bonus features work, and what combinations matter most. Many players skip it because they want to start quickly, but reading it can prevent wrong expectations. It also helps you understand why some spins pay more than others.

Some players search online for basic information about a slot before choosing where to spend their time. This can be helpful when the goal is to understand the game type, feature structure, and general style rather than relying only on the visual theme. A little preparation can make the experience feel more controlled.

Another important point is volatility. Low-volatility games often give smaller results more often, while high-volatility games may have longer dry periods with the possibility of larger outcomes. Neither type is automatically better. The right choice depends on how much risk a player is comfortable with and how long they want a session to last.

Thinking About Budget And Pace

Better awareness also means knowing how much you are comfortable spending before the session begins. Slots move quickly, so it is easy to lose track of time or money if you do not set a limit. A clear budget makes the experience easier to manage and helps keep play focused on entertainment.

Why Small Decisions Matter

Bet size is one of the most important choices. A higher bet can make results feel more exciting, but it can also reduce the length of a session. A smaller bet may allow more spins and more time to understand the game. Players should choose a bet size that matches their budget rather than chasing faster results.

Session pace matters too. Some games have quick-spin options, autoplay, or bonus-buy features. These can speed up the action, but faster play also means faster spending. Taking a slower pace can help players notice patterns in the game experience, even though each spin remains random.

Many players are drawn to low-start options such as slot depo 5k because they suggest a smaller entry point and a lighter way to begin. This can appeal to people who want short sessions, but the same awareness still matters. A small deposit can disappear quickly if the bet size is too high or the game pace is too fast.

Looking Beyond The Theme

Themes make slots more attractive, but they should not be the only reason for choosing a game. A strong theme can make the session more enjoyable, yet the paytable and game structure still matter more for understanding how the game behaves.

Balancing Fun And Information

A player may enjoy a game because it has bright visuals, familiar symbols, or an interesting setting. That is completely normal. Entertainment is a major part of why people play. Still, a good-looking game is not always the best fit for every budget or playing style.

It helps to compare a few games before settling on one. Look at return rate, volatility, minimum bet, bonus rules, and feature frequency. These details do not guarantee a result, but they help create realistic expectations. When expectations are realistic, wins feel enjoyable and losses feel easier to accept as part of the game.

Players should also remember that every spin is independent. A game is not “due” to pay because it has been quiet, and a recent win does not mean the next spin will follow the same pattern. Random results are part of how slots work. Better awareness means accepting that uncertainty instead of trying to force meaning from short-term outcomes.

Making More Thoughtful Choices

Choosing slots with better awareness is not about finding a perfect game. It is about knowing what you are choosing and why. When players understand game style, risk level, budget limits, and pace, they can make decisions that feel more balanced.

The best approach is simple. Read the paytable, choose a comfortable bet size, understand the game’s volatility, and treat the session as entertainment. A thoughtful player does not need to remove the surprise from the game. They only need enough awareness to enjoy that surprise without losing control of the experience.

Conclusion

Looking beyond the theme helps players make clearer and more responsible choices. A slot may first attract attention through its design, story, or symbols, but the real experience depends on how the game is built. Paytable details, volatility, bet range, and bonus features all shape the pace and risk of a session.

By understanding these elements, players can choose games that match their budget and expectations. This does not change the random nature of slots, but it does make the experience easier to manage. When players treat slots as entertainment rather than a way to predict or control results, they are more likely to enjoy the game in a balanced way.

A thoughtful approach allows the theme to remain fun without becoming the only reason for playing. In the end, better awareness supports better decisions, helping players enjoy the excitement of each spin while keeping the overall experience realistic and controlled.

Have you ever noticed how many forms of entertainment now live on the same screen you use every day?

Online slot gaming is part of that wider digital entertainment mix. It sits beside mobile games, streaming, social apps, short videos, live chats, and interactive platforms.

People use digital entertainment for quick fun, relaxing moments, bright visuals, and simple ways to pass time, and online slots fit into that pattern in a clear way.

At its core, online slot gaming is built around short sessions, colorful themes, simple controls, and instant visual feedback. That makes it easy to understand why it became part of the bigger online entertainment space.

Digital Entertainment Is All About Choice

Modern entertainment gives people many options. Someone can watch a video, play a puzzle game, listen to music, join a live chat, or try a quick game in just a few taps. Online depo 5k slot gaming fits into this mix because it offers fast, visual, and easy-to-follow play.

People like having choices that match their mood. Sometimes they want a long activity. Sometimes they want something quick. Online slots work well for short, casual sessions.

Short Sessions Fit Modern Habits

A lot of digital entertainment today is built around small pockets of time. People may use apps while relaxing after work, during a quiet evening, or while taking a short break.

Online slot games match that habit because each round is usually quick. Players do not need a long setup or complex instructions. The format is simple: choose a game, start a round, and enjoy the motion, sound, and visuals.

That makes online slots similar to other quick entertainment formats, such as:

Casual mobile games

Short videos

Music clips

Interactive mini-games

Digital card or puzzle games

The common thread is easy access and quick enjoyment.

Simple Controls Make Them Approachable

One reason online slots fit so well into digital entertainment is their simple structure. Many digital users enjoy experiences that are easy to understand right away.

Online slot games often use clear buttons, bright symbols, and simple menus. This makes the experience feel smooth for casual players who want light entertainment without a long learning curve.

That simplicity is a big part of their place in the digital space. They are not trying to be complex strategy games. They offer quick, visual play that fits relaxed moments.

Themes Bring Slots Closer to Digital Media

Online slot gaming is not only about spinning reels. It also uses themes, sounds, animation, and visual storytelling. This connects it with other forms of digital media, where style and mood matter a lot.

Many online slot games use settings, characters, colors, and music to create a clear tone. That makes each game feel different, even when the basic format stays familiar.

Visual Style Creates Personality

Just like mobile games or animated videos, online slots often use strong visual identity. A game may feel cheerful, calm, bold, classic, or playful based on its art and sound.

This visual style helps players choose games that match their mood. Some may enjoy bright and colorful layouts. Others may prefer classic symbols or calm backgrounds.

Here is a simple way to see how slots connect with other digital formats:

Digital Feature

How Online Slots Use It

Animation

Moving reels and visual effects

Sound

Music, clicks, and reward sounds

Themes

Different moods and settings

Quick play

Short rounds and fast feedback

Interaction

Player choices through simple controls

These features show how online slot gaming belongs inside the larger digital entertainment space.

Sound and Motion Add Energy

Digital entertainment often works because it uses more than one sense. Online slots use sound, movement, color, and timing to create a lively experience.

The spinning motion, small animations, and audio cues make each round feel active. This is similar to how mobile games use sound effects or how video apps use motion to keep the experience lively.

That mix of sound and visuals gives online slot gaming its own style within digital entertainment.

Technology Makes the Experience Flexible

Online slot gacor gaming has grown with digital technology. Faster devices, mobile screens, and improved graphics have helped make these games easy to access and pleasant to use.

This flexibility is one reason they fit into modern entertainment habits. People can enjoy digital entertainment from many places and on different devices.

Mobile Access Changed the Routine

Phones and tablets made digital entertainment more personal. People no longer need to sit in one place for every online activity.

Online slot games work well on mobile screens because the format is simple and visual. Buttons, reels, and menus can fit neatly into a small screen while keeping the experience clear.

That puts slot gaming in the same category as many other mobile-first activities: quick, personal, and easy to pick up.

Personal Preference Plays a Big Role

Digital entertainment is personal. People choose what fits their mood, time, and taste. Online slot gaming supports this through different styles, themes, sounds, and game formats.

Some players may prefer classic looks. Others may enjoy modern animations. Some may choose calm visuals, while others like bright and energetic ones.

This variety helps online slots sit comfortably beside other digital choices, where personal taste matters.

Social and Cultural Trends Shape the Space

Digital entertainment is often shared through conversations, communities, and personal routines. Online slot gaming can also be part of that larger pattern, especially as people talk about themes, features, and game styles.

Entertainment today is not always a one-way activity. People often compare experiences, share opinions, and talk about what they enjoy.

Part of a Bigger Entertainment Routine

For many adults, online slot gaming can be one piece of a larger digital routine. A person may watch videos, listen to music, play casual games, and try slot games during different parts of the week.

This makes online slots part of a mixed entertainment menu rather than a separate activity.

A simple routine might look like:

Listen to music while relaxing.

Watch short videos.

Play a casual game.

Try a few slot rounds.

Chat with friends online.

Each activity adds a different kind of enjoyment.

Familiar Digital Patterns Help It Fit

Online slot gaming uses many patterns people already know from digital apps: menus, profiles, themes, sound settings, animations, and quick interactions.

Because these patterns feel familiar, the experience fits naturally into the broader digital entertainment space. It feels like one more option in a large set of online activities.

Final Thoughts

Online slot gaming fits into digital entertainment because it shares many of the same qualities people enjoy online: quick access, visual style, simple controls, sound, motion, variety, and personal choice.

It is part of a larger shift toward entertainment that is flexible, colorful, and easy to enjoy in small moments. Like videos, casual games, music apps, and interactive platforms, online slot gaming gives adults another way to spend relaxed digital time.

Africa’s Green Economy Summit 2026 opens next week at a critical juncture for South Africa’s economic trajectory. The gathering follows the recent State of the Nation Address by Cyril Ramaphosa and comes just ahead of the National Budget Speech.

The timing places the spotlight firmly on delivery. With infrastructure reform, energy expansion and water security back on the national agenda, the summit aims to convert policy momentum into investable green projects.

Reforms across energy, water and logistics were highlighted in SONA as essential to restoring growth and competitiveness. Expanding generation capacity, stabilising water systems and enabling stronger private-sector participation have been identified as urgent priorities.

For leaders convening at AGES 2026, the shift from ambition to execution presents both pressure and opportunity. The focus is now on accelerating resilient, green infrastructure investment that can unlock long-term growth.

Turning ambition into investable projects

“Africa’s Green Economy Summit coincides with a critical moment on our continent,” said James Vos of the City of Cape Town. He pointed to the dual challenge of meeting surging energy demand while confronting climate change risks.

With the National Budget Speech scheduled for 25 February, the summit’s discussions are expected to closely examine how fiscal policy can reinforce infrastructure delivery. Organisers say the event will also explore ways to crowd in private capital and strengthen South Africa’s green growth pathway.

AGES 2026 is positioning itself as an implementation-focused platform. Conversations will centre on unlocking bankable opportunities, supporting green entrepreneurs and mobilising capital for clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.

Shameela Soobramoney of the National Business Initiative stressed that environmental sustainability and economic progress must advance together. The summit’s framework is built on the idea that green transition and economic competitiveness are deeply interconnected.

Western Cape pushes green growth agenda

South Africa’s positioning as a gateway for green investment in Africa is becoming clearer as public and private priorities align. However, stakeholders emphasise that success will depend heavily on sustained collaboration and disciplined execution.

The Western Cape is also reinforcing this growth narrative. Wrenelle Stander said Wesgro continues to focus on attracting investment into export-priority sectors such as green energy and manufacturing.

Reinforcing its continental mandate, Africa’s Green Economy Summit 2026 is hosted by the African Union with support from Global Affairs Canada and the Global Green Growth Institute. The collaboration aligns the summit with broader efforts to accelerate climate and nature finance across Africa.

The event also highlights growing private-sector participation. Title Sponsor Sanlam Investments and Gold Sponsor Standard Bank underscore the increasing role of capital markets in driving the continent’s green transition.

Additional partners include the Coega Development Corporation, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, the Development Bank of Southern Africa and the Gauteng Economic Development Department.

“The 2026 AGES represents exactly the kind of platform Africa needs,” said Soneni Phiri, noting the summit’s role in turning climate ambition into bankable reality.

Hosted by VUKA Group, Africa’s Green Economy Summit 2026 will bring together policymakers, investors and innovators with a shared goal: moving from discussion to delivery in Africa’s green transition.

The Republic of Congo has begun first exports from Congo LNG Phase 2, marking a major expansion of its liquefied natural gas footprint just weeks before a key investor gathering in Paris.

The second phase, operated by Eni, is exporting from the newly commissioned Nguya floating liquefied natural gas vessel. The addition lifts national liquefaction capacity to 3 million tons per annum after the project delivered its first cargo in early 2026, ahead of schedule.

Developed in roughly 35 months, Congo LNG Phase 2 builds on the earlier Tango FLNG unit. Together, the facilities strengthen the country’s positioning as an emerging LNG exporter at a time when global buyers seek diversified supply.

Gas feeding the expansion is sourced from the offshore Nené and Litchendjili fields under the Marine XII license. The ramp-up gives Congo greater exposure to international gas markets as Europe and other regions reassess supply chains.

Minister engagement highlights investment drive

The export milestone comes ahead of Hydrocarbons Minister Bruno Jean‑Richard Itoua’s participation at the Invest in African Energy Forum 2026, scheduled for April 22–23 in Paris.

At the forum, Itoua is expected to outline opportunities spanning gas monetization, LNG expansion, marginal fields and new exploration acreage. The engagement gives investors direct access to the country’s upstream and midstream strategy as Congo accelerates energy sector reform.

International interest in the broader hydrocarbons sector has intensified. TotalEnergies recently secured the Nzombo exploration permit with a one-well drilling program, while Perenco is redeveloping the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II offshore field through a new production platform aimed at extending output and gas recovery.

Regulatory reform and export strategy align

Beyond infrastructure expansion, Congo’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons is advancing regulatory modernization. A new gas code nearing adoption is designed to clarify fiscal terms and streamline rules for investors.

Previous engagements at the Invest in African Energy Forum have produced tangible agreements. In 2023, Congo signed a cooperation pact with Technip Energies to enhance onshore and offshore capacity and collaborate on decarbonization initiatives.

The start of Congo LNG Phase 2 underscores a broader transition from mature oil production toward integrated, export-oriented gas development. By pairing policy engagement with rapid infrastructure delivery, Congo is positioning itself as a competitive LNG supplier in evolving global markets.
