The Data Quality Report 2026: Introduction

The global transition to sustainable mobility is a complex undertaking that relies on more than just the expansion of physical infrastructure. It requires a seamless digital experience that mirrors physical reality. As EV sales continue to accelerate, reliable, accurate charging station data has become increasingly important in furthering consumer trust.

To better understand these challenges, Eco-Movement collaborated with SBD Automotive, a global leader in automotive technology research and consulting, to publish the Data Quality Report 2026. SBD Automotive brings decades of expertise in analyzing the strategic needs of the automotive industry and conducting in-depth consumer research, providing a critical lens through which we can evaluate the real-world impact of charging station data.

The Strategic Impact of Trust Erosion

SBD Automotive’s research consistently demonstrates that consumer experiences related to charging remain the most significant source of friction in the EV ownership journey. Concerns regarding range, charger availability, and reliability dominate both pre-purchase anxiety and ownership pain points.

Crucially, SBD’s findings indicate that drivers do not view data errors—such as an “available” charger being offline—as isolated technical glitches. Instead, they are experienced as systemic failures of the charging infrastructure itself. This erosion of trust has a direct consequence. Drivers who struggle to access functional chargers are significantly more likely to revert to hybrid vehicles for their next purchase rather than a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).

To better understand the role of data accuracy in mitigating trust erosion, Eco-Movement’s performance benchmarks in this first Data Quality Report serve to understand what the current issues are with widely used datasets. It also shows where Eco-Movement’s platform helps.

2026 Performance Benchmarks

The 2026 report establishes a benchmark by evaluating Eco-Movement’s verified dataset against leading European datasets used. The findings highlight the critical importance of a specialized POI data source:

Coverage and Visibility: Eco-Movement’s dataset contains 24% more EVSEs on average than the benchmarked datasets, with gaps as high as 84% in mature markets like Norway. This discrepancy often stems from large networks being entirely absent in the benchmarked datasets, effectively making them “invisible” to drivers using native vehicle systems.

Geospatial Precision: Accuracy is inseparable from perceived reliability. Approximately 10% of locations in the report required manual coordinate correction. Of these interventions, 60% involved locations misplaced by over 10 meters in other datasets – a distance that can render a charger inaccessible in dense urban environments.

Technical Integrity: We identified systemic errors in AC 3-Phase power calculations in benchmarked datasets, leading to overstated capacity for over 45,000 EVSEs. Such errors disrupt the charging experience and damage consumer expectations.

Currency and Latency: Real-time availability is essential for reliable route planning. Eco-Movement’s low-latency pipeline processes 80 million raw status updates daily with an internal processing time of approximately 5 milliseconds. Independent testing by an OEM partner confirmed that while other data flows took multiple minutes to propagate, Eco-Movement updates appeared in the vehicle interface within seconds.

The Path Forward: Empowerment through Expertise

Eco-Movement and SBD Automotive believe that high-quality data is the primary tool for growing the adoption of EV. By utilizing Eco-Movement’s proprietary governance framework – which combines automated validation, machine learning, and manual verification by specialized data teams – we empower our partners to provide a predictable, high-quality user experience.

For automotive OEMs, this data integrity creates “stickiness,” encouraging drivers to rely on native navigation and digital interfaces rather than third-party platforms. Ultimately, this strengthens brand perception and ensures that charging becomes a managed, confidence-building interaction rather than a source of uncertainty.

Write in at contact@eco-movement.com with your requirement.

Anstehend: Die DATEX II-Anforderung zum 14. April 2026

Bitte senden Sie Ihre Anforderung an contact@eco-movement.com.

Los Angeles and Utrecht, Netherlands – 19th March, 2026 – GO TO-U, the operating system for smart EV charging infrastructure, announced its integration with Eco-Movement, the leading independent charging station data platform. Through this collaboration, charge point operators (CPOs) using GO TO-U can extend the visibility of their infrastructure across leading navigation services, mobility platforms, and automotive OEM ecosystems that shape how electric vehicle drivers discover where to charge.

One Connection to the Broader Navigation Ecosystem

Eco-Movement provides a platform for distributing EV charging location data across navigation providers, e-mobility service platforms, and public sector organizations. With this, CPOs can rely on a more streamlined approach that improves operational efficiency while expanding market visibility.

Extending Visibility into OEM Ecosystems

Through Eco-Movement’s network, charging data reaches several leading automotive brands. For CPOs, this creates a broader and more strategic digital presence across the channels that increasingly shape driver choice long before a vehicle reaches the site.

From Visibility to Charging Demand

Visibility is the first step in improving charging infrastructure performance.

GO TO-U complements this expanded visibility with operational tools designed to improve station utilization and make charging demand more predictable. At the center of this is GO TO-U’s Advanced Reservation Technology, which enables drivers to plan charging sessions in advance while giving operators the ability to manage charging demand more efficiently. By connecting discoverability with reservation-based orchestration, GO TO-U helps transform charging stations from passive infrastructure into actively managed assets.

“Navigation platforms play a central role in how EV drivers discover charging infrastructure. Through our integration with Eco-Movement, operators using GO TO-U can distribute their charging station data across major navigation platforms and broader digital ecosystems through a single connection, making it significantly easier for drivers to discover their infrastructure and for operators to strengthen utilization,” said Nazar Davyda, Co-founder and CEO of GO TO-U.

“We are pleased to have GO TO-U integrate with us. Reliable charging location information benefits everyone in the EV charging value chain,” added Sjors Martens, CCO at Eco-Movement.

Building a More Discoverable and More Effective Charging Ecosystem

With this integration, GO TO-U continues to strengthen its role as the platform that helps charging operators improve visibility, increase utilization, and build charging networks that are more predictable, more efficient, and more valuable.

About Eco-Movement

Eco-Movement, is a leading global platform for EV charge point location and pricing data. Customers of the platform include navigation providers, charge point operators, eMSPs, and the public sector. As an independent platform with almost 2 million connectors in over 80 countries, Eco-Movement is in a unique position to support the electrification of passenger and commercial vehicles.

About GO TO-U

GO TO-U is the operating system for smart EV charging infrastructure. It helps charge point operators build charging networks that are more predictable, efficient, and commercially effective. At the core of the platform is GO TO-U’s proprietary Advanced Reservation Technology, which enables operators to improve utilization, reduce wait times, and manage demand more intelligently. The platform combines reservation-based orchestration with payments, back-office management, driver applications, and integrations with leading EV charging hardware manufacturers. By turning charging from static infrastructure into a managed digital service, GO TO-U makes EV charging more reliable for drivers and more valuable for operators.

The post GO TO-U Integrates with Eco-Movement first appeared on Eco-Movement.

Utrecht, The Netherlands, 5th March, 2026 – Eco-Movement, the leading independent charging station data platform and a Dow Jones Energy company, announced a partnership with Cariqa.

Through this integration, Eco-Movement’s industry-leading datasets—which cover nearly 2 million connectors across over 80 countries—will now support Cariqa Connect payment links. This allows navigation apps and digital mobility platforms to offer end-to-end charging and payment experiences.

“This partnership is about removing friction across the entire EV charging journey, for both drivers and the platforms that serve them. If you already expose high-quality charging data to your users, enabling payments should feel seamless, not like bolting on a separate system. By embedding payments directly into the data layer, we make charging simpler for drivers and dramatically easier for partners to launch, iterate, and scale customer-ready EV charging experiences.” said Issam Tidjani, CEO & Co-Founder, Cariqa.

Driving Value for the Data-Led Ecosystem

By embedding payment links at the data layer, EV driver platforms can bypass the technical hurdles of building payment infrastructure, managing multi-currency compliance, integrating with CPOs or roaming hubs, and navigating complex tariff structures.

“Eco-Movement makes high-quality charging data easy to integrate and easy to use. By working with Cariqa, we now enable direct payments as part of our data feed. That means our customers can go from displaying chargers to enabling charging far more quickly, without additional integrations and costs. Their users do not need to register anywhere and simply pay with their preferred method. We believe this feature will be valuable for many of our clients.” said Sjors Martens, Chief Commercial Officer, Eco-Movement.

Availability

Cariqa’s payment links are available to Eco-Movement customers on request. CPOs integrating with Cariqa benefit from Eco-Movement’s extensive reach, as it provides data to 50+ maps, apps and navigation solution providers.

Charge Point Operators (CPOs) have multiple priorities. Among them is not just building charging infrastructure but maximizing visibility (and thereby laying the groundwork to optimize for utilization) while adhering to National Access Point (NAP) requirements. We are excited to announce that Eco-Movement has integrated with the AMPECO Marketplace, allowing CPOs to automate global visibility and regulatory reporting through a single connection.

The Visibility Use-Case

A key aspect of visibility is presence on various platforms that millions of drivers use. Via a single, free connection to Eco-Movement, CPOs can be present on several platforms including Google, Apple Maps, Waze, TomTom and HERE, among others.

Compliance Without an Engineering Strain

While visibility is about access, complying with NAP requirements gives rise to different complexities: Operating across the EU requires adhering to AFIR regulations and connecting to 27 different National Access Points (NAPs).

Managing this internally requires constant monitoring of changes and maintaining custom connection requirements for every jurisdiction. CPOs working with AMPECO can now automate:

EU NAP Reporting: Automated data sharing across all 27 member states.

UK PCPR Compliance: Handling open data requests and mandatory uptime reporting.

Focus on Core Business

For CPOs, this partnership simplifies the path to appearing on multiple apps while also minimising the complexity of adhering to NAP requirements. This allows CPOs to focus on their core expertise – building out charging infrastructure. It also makes it easier for them to rely on our expertise honed working with over 3000 CPOs in 80 countries for whom we have brought almost two million connectors online.

The post Bringing Your Charging Network Online: The AMPECO & Eco-Movement Benefit first appeared on Eco-Movement.

Ensuring EV driver confidence through low-latency availability data of EV charge points

The increasing adoption of electric vehicles necessitates a robust and extensive EV charging infrastructure. Crucially, this growth also elevates the demand for accurate, real-time information regarding the infrastructure’s status and availability.

And nothing is more frustrating for an EV driver than following a navigation system to an “available” charging station, only to find it currently occupied or worse “out of service”.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a hypothetical situation. It is a persistent, daily reality for EV drivers, globally. The core reason lies in the complex and multi-layered data chain that creates ‘latency’.

Changes in a charge point’s availability status must travel a circuitous route: from the charger itself, through the Charge Point Operator’s (CPO) back-end system, to the CPO’s and Car OEM’s myriad of partners (including map providers, roaming hubs, Mobility Service Provider (MSP) platforms, and navigation software vendors) where it feeds into routing algorithms before finally reaching the car manufacturer’s back-end, and subsequently, the end-user’s device or car. This circuitous route increases the time it takes for a charger to show as unavailable when a car is plugged in.

Eco-Movement, already trusted for its reliable EV charging station data, embarked on an effort to also have the fastest data by reducing the latency of the EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) status messages. A dedicated pipeline now delivers lightweight “PATCH updates” directly from the Charge Point Operator (CPO) back-end to our customers in mere milliseconds.

The real-world impact was recently validated by one of our automotive OEM partners that specialises in high-end passenger vehicles. They conducted end-to-end latency tests in several countries by plugging in their cars and measuring the time until the status changed on their screens.

The Result: Status updates, which previously took minutes, now typically appear in a matter of seconds.

UTRECHT – September 18, 2025 – Dow Jones today announced it has acquired Eco-Movement, a leading global platform for EV charging data. Eco-Movement will operate as part of OPIS, Dow Jones’s growing energy business.

Headquartered in Utrecht, Netherlands, Eco-Movement is a leading charge point data platform. The company collects, optimizes and enriches EV charging station data, and has built an extensive data platform with public and semi-public EV charging points and their real-time availability. Its platform features almost 2 million connectors across more than 80 countries and adds to Dow Jones’s suite of energy products and services available to customers.

Eco-Movement joins Dow Jones at a time of strong growth for its professional information business, which includes an expansive portfolio of products and services across the risk, research and energy sectors. In its latest earnings report, Dow Jones Energy grew 11% over the prior fiscal year, increasing its segment revenue to $278 million and contributing to the company’s record revenues for the full year of $2.33 billion. Eco-Movement strengthens Dow Jones Energy with best-in-class data and analytics, enabling smarter decisions across the energy transition for retailers, fleets, charge point operators, utilities, and financial institutions. It builds on OPIS’s energy transition activity in carbon markets, clean fuels, solar, and hydrogen.

“Eco-Movement is an incredible addition to our Dow Jones Energy portfolio at a time when we expect the EV market to grow globally. It’s a key element of giving our audience the proprietary data they need to make critical decisions,” said Almar Latour, CEO of Dow Jones and Publisher of The Wall Street Journal. “With this acquisition, our users can now see the entire spectrum of vehicle energy–from fossil fuels to electricity–around the world, and it’s all part of our strategy to enable customers to go deep on the topics they care about.”

Dow Jones was an early stage investor in Eco-Movement, participating in the company’s Series A funding in 2022. Since then, the company has experienced explosive growth, increasing revenue more than 200%.

“Joining OPIS, part of Dow Jones, marks an exciting new chapter for Eco-Movement. As the leading charge point data platform, our mission has always been to provide EV charging location and pricing data services to empower the entire e-mobility ecosystem. By combining our industry-leading data platform with OPIS’s expertise and network, we can accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility and deliver even greater value to charge point operators, OEMs, navigation and map providers and analysts,” said Roderick van den Berg, Eco-Movement co-founder and CEO.

This is the latest in a series of strategic acquisitions and investments aimed at bolstering Dow Jones’s portfolio of specialized news, data, analysis and events for business professionals. Earlier this year, Dow Jones acquired Oxford Analytica and Dragonfly Intelligence to complement the Dow Jones Risk & Compliance product suite with proprietary geopolitical risk and security intelligence.
