THE SOCIAL MISFITS THAT WE MUST OVERCOME

IN LIFE TO UNALINIATE FROM THOSE

THAT WE HATE BUT WE LOVE

In 1976 I must have been living in the State of Puebla where I used to live with Ruth, Nohemi, Alex, Josue, Jorge, Mom and Dad. Divorce in my village was unheard-of around this time. “Unlike Anarchy in the Tenth Grade” my parents were going through some rough times for the fact that my dad used to drink cheap Mexican beer and other homemade remedies his friends prepare for him. I think he also cheated on my mother and used to hang around with criminals who stole cattle from the nearby villages.

Nothing like Greg Graffin whose immediate life and survival was challenged and harassed by, “ the geeks, nerds, dorks, wimps, and pussies (or worse, wussies)” for his deficient 'knowingness' to communicate with the rock bands that he used to hang around with and with the world of the farandula of “Rodney on the Roq ‘(on station KROQ) ‘ ”. Although, liquor, beer, honey-water and mescal were my dad’s consumption to get intoxicated because in those days psychiatry drugs weren’t yet prevalent and peyote didn’t really grow in my village. My dad had to also escalate among his gang, he had to learn to ride colts, break down stallions, manicure mares, raise a foal, vaccinate, and last but not least fitted them with horseshoes. Then, had to learn to shot rifles and pistols from all calibers and target practice. You were not consider a lower class if you didn’t do any of these things, my dad used to do, because I want to assume the people in town didn’t really believe or thought in measures of lower class, second-class, upper class; however, if you belong to a gang and you failed at demonstrating your cowboy’s vigor you simply were ridicule and disrespected by your team.

It was survival for my father to participate in some of the activities with his teammates accordingly if he pulled back when necessitated of their friendship and help to plant, harvest and haul fertilizers for his land they will not be there for him. If he was in need of a pair of oxen or mules to put the yoke to fix his land because he didn’t have them for whatever reason. He will go to his brother (Felix) or friends and they will help him to get what he needed. Even, if my dad needed more land for plantation, they will provide it. I want to assume my dad is a good person but survival in the forties, fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties in my village was hell. We used to drink water from the rivers where animals defecated and urinated and where women washed their laundry. I don’t endorse the fact that he deviated to commit some illegal and immoral acts but here we are alive because dad learned to overcome many of the challenges that life gave him. I am sure he hated being alienated from his church because I observed him not attending and because on one occasion he communicated to me that he was undignified of the life he used to live or that he was living. Mom told me that dad didn’t belong to his teammates but I say he did because I am alive. I am dignified to be his son, their son. Just like Greg Graffin is dignified to have gotten in to his next Ph.D. program.

I could not agree more with Doctor Dean Ornish and his eight Pathways to Intimacy and Health. It would be an absurd generalization on my part to label all MDs as drug pushers, without doubt make no mistake about it because many are. Honestly, Doc. Ornish wants to share with humanity more effective and efficient methods to alleviate the minds of those profoundly affected by the lack of social support, love, and affection without the use of narcotics. He conveys his studies in a practical tone level, with certainty and expertise. I feel safe and not attacked when reading his books. I am awfully inclined toward holistic medicine so we share many similarities Doc. Ornish and I.

For as long as I can remember and since I have power of reasoning , I have never used any kind of drugs to ease my ills and pains the same way most Caucasians and Anglo-Saxon love doing that usually a minor headache activates the worm to recur to pain killers. I am proud to announce that I am healthy and free from narcotics, and painkillers. I am an enemy of the Industry of Death which is (psychiatry) pharmaceuticals, and today the government of Indiana. I can’t allow my body to be artificially immunized by something synthetic that belongs to the art of chemistry

My life experiences define who I am today. Some are very significant that I recall vividly with eye of my mind. As a little child, I almost didn’t receive enough social support from my parents. Dad didn’t communicate much about life in general with me. For instance, I never knew much about him until, I was a grown up.

How, I would‘ve wished my dad would ‘ve the knowledge to teach me, the difference between good and evil, everything love related, techniques to love one another or at least that he could had instilled on me to be affectionate to my brothers and sisters.

I would be a lot happier if dad would have passed on to me his own life experiences. When he was socially supportive of a love one or a demonstration of his affinity toward his wife and children; lectures on how to have endurance to be victorious could have assisted me to not be timid. I would have been able to better understand myself, to overcome toils over anything in life, and the whole nine yards but I never had that.

My mother loved me but sometimes humiliated me. She concealed weapons behind a door or below the bed to inflict pain upon me. Too violent was my mother that when school assignments were a total mess, she would make me do it again; when I did not comply with the house chores or if I leave the house unauthorized that trigger her anger.

I started working for money when I was in elementary. I sold popsicles to buy my mom’s groceries and produce such as cilantro, jalapeno peppers, onions, and tortillas but never enough for meat.

Mom and Dad were planning their breakup a day after he has been drinking and had tried to kill every one of his offspring and wife. Earlier that day Mom asked me to go get him from the street where he has been consuming alcohol with friends and whose friends intentionally mixed various types of alcoholic beverages that gave it to him to drink that it completely intoxicated him. After, I persuaded dad to come home by clinging from his legs, he scream “go away, leave me alone, take this five pesos” said, dad.

Latter that day, dad tripped either on the way home or on the way back to his friends (honestly I don’t recall) hitting his head on a huge bolder. He laid almost death on the dirt gravel road for five minutes. His sister, Ines and mother, Adela resuscitated him with rubbing alcohol and by blowing throughout his face with a sombrero. The place got crowed it and some relatives cried out loud. At the time of resurrection, he immediately asked for his baton that he used to keep on the edge of the house’s roof. Then, he asked his sisters, “were my wife and children,” but as soon as mom found out that dad wanted to kill every one in their family, then she fled with her family for love and survival of her children.

How do we restrain or retrain from the anger?

Everything “boils to the reactive mind” said, L. Ron Hubbard, in his book Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health. The unconscious mind as it is commonly called in psychology, is the sole cause of all psychosomatic illness which is (the mind making the body ill) and my conjecture is that this mind is the mind that is dragging us to the last of all wars so we must do something about it.

How human relations really affect my health?

Perhaps, it is more significant if I quote the following statistic to see how much people in the United States suffer from psychosomatic illness, As will be stated next, HearthMath n.d. had reported, that 75 to 90% of all visits to primary care physicians’ result from stress-related disorders (Paul Rosch, para. 3).

According to the Durkheim Study 1897, the relationship between loneliness and suicidal, is greatly impacted by the lack of social support, love, and affection from our parents (Ornish 1999, p 37). But Many times the ups and downs in life can also be caused by our acquaintances, Hubbard wrote (1949) “a man is not victimized by his enemies but by his friends” (p.139). They are responsible for our coldness and the lack of healing because simply many of us just don’t learn to heal. Doc. Dean Ornish makes a powerful point in his book Love and Survival the subject of his research is relationships; he makes it really clear that we begin to awake to reality to become aware that we have a correlation with parents, because for the first time, parents are we spent our first years together. They are who watch, care, and love us earliest. That if something painful and injurious happened to you was because lacked the strength of love and care from your parents. The Harvard Mastery of Stress Study’s objective was the relationship between students and parents which results indicated that the warmer the relationships the healthier the individual (Ornish, 1999, p. 34).

In the United States especially in Oregon is quite difficult for me to have real friends. I mean worthy, meaningful, everlasting, and fully caring for one another. Interpersonal relationships were rough when I was an adolescent. According to The Scotland Study “ those who were diagnosed with lung cancer tended to have more disturbed interpersonal relationships and had particular difficulty in expressing their emotions, especially those involving intimate relationships” (Ornish, 1999. p. 37).

History of Pickwick

From childhood, I was a farmer in Mexico and dad sent me to pasture our sheep. I would not bring out lunch, fresh potable water with me. And, I worked for long hours under the heat and obviously many times was affected with stomach cramps. I lay on the floor and began to roll over holding my visceral trying to ease the pain. Who cares for the sheep in moments of delirium? I does not recall, when or how I went home, but at my arrival, grandma who was the nurse and midwife of the village took care of me. She knew lots of home remedies and really knew how to assist people of all ages. From assisting a mother in giving birth to her baby to purging her body from postpartum. Grandma grabbed a huge metal silver syringe to inject me an intravenous solution. If a sharp, piercing tail of a scorpion sting one her grandsons she injected an alcohol intravenous to the boy. She was an incredible grandma. Today she is approximately one hundred and seven years old and lives in Tula, Tepexi, Puebla.

Grandma consumed palo dulce (sweet three); it is a medicinal three with a white bark. People boil the bark of this tree because they extract a pinkish juice that they administer to purge animals and people. From childhood, I always had a rotten luck, I always suffered from various illnesses such as appendicitis, dysentery, insects bites, dogs’ bites, fall from horses, and even witnessed fired at point-blank amongst the people of my village.

I am very timid to go back to re-experience those kinds of moments in my mind. My parents never wanted me to suffer; they loved me to the best of their ability. When parents have their first baby, they lacked skills, experience, and tolerance. My fathers were farmers and had not schooling where to learn the basics for love and survival. It was really hard for them to give me a healthy rearing. Free me from unhealthy relations that would affect my wellness, mind, and soul. Mom and dad tried really hard so their son could have peritonitis surgery; however, the doctor chose not to perform it, they don’t remember the technicality but the problem was solved later with home remedies.

When I was about fifteen, my family was in need of abundance of social support. The Mexican economy was in real bad shape 1970. I chose to go ahead to look for ways to financially assist my parents. By his own efforts, he got a job with cousin Jacobo. He owns a factory of onyx tables. Honestly the factory belongs to Uncle Felix, causing Alberto, and Dad. In fact they are the founders. Jacobo a causing of mind has robbed, chit, and lie to the founders of the company. He had transferred the documents in his name. The entrepreneurial here was my uncle Felix and he asked his brother Daniel Alejandro to be part of the business but dad did not have enough funds for this risk- taking business; however, Felix persuaded his brother to sell some cattle and that was how he became part of this joint venture. Dad invited his nephew Alberto, to come on board. The triad was now embarking on an unknown journey; they knew zero about business, management, and mathematics. All will turn out bad in the end, Jacobo kept the company, even when it didn’t belong to him. Uncle Feliz and Dad are still not talking to him after three decades. So this brings me to the point of Roseto’s study were, the researchers wondered if Roseto’s stable structure, its emphasis on family cohesion, and the supportive nature of the community may have been protective against heart attacks and conducive to longevity…this loosening of family ties and weakening of the community in Roseto was accompanied by a substantial increase in death due to hard attacks” (Ornish, 1999, p. 41). I can’t say dad and uncle will live as long as grandma because cousin Alberto passed away three years ago of cirrhosis.

However, I remained working for my causing Jacobo because I was been pay. Most employees at this company are relatives. Ruben a relative of mine instigated me, “go see your girlfriend by the lagoon, she is with Louis” indeed by the time I got there he was already with her. Nor I have ever asked Irene out neither she was my official girlfriend. Also, I don’t know whether Louis was her official boyfriend. Louise through me into the cactuses and I fell flat on my back. My body received a lot of bruises and several scars by the blows of his fist. However, the point that I want to get across, is if it had not been for Ruben’s instigation because he said that my girlfriend was already being kissed by another man at the lake then we would have never fought each other. It is true unhealthy relationships can end up killing you.

How do we restrain or retrain from the anger?

As a young kid, anger and rage were conspicuous so anecdotes of unhealthy relationships are plentiful. Adam and I are getting back home from school. He and I hated and beat up each other for no reason. Whenever we run into each other we would harm each other. Today, I sit to reflect upon those kinds of incidents that brought me bad karma. I used to wonder why I had such an unhealthy rearing. I didn’t comprehend why of my Ire as a kid.

I traveled to Mexico 1988; the farmers were inaugurating a water pump and a deep excavation was been dugout because they just found water in dad’s property. Adan’s parents were invited at the celebration so I took the opportunity to send my apologist to him via his parents. When were kids, his parents always came to my home trying to discuss with dad, why was I engage in striking his son? I don’t think he hates me yet it has been about thirty years since I have last spoke to him. I don’t keep any resentment toward him and I am sure that he has forgiven me. Why we used to fight and who was the instigator? We would never know.

How unhealthy relationships affect your future?

Around in 1980-1982 while attending preparatory school in Puebla City, I met a classmate in one of my classes. He invited me to move into his home and I accepted. He volunteered his time to come help me to pick up my blankets, books and other stuff to take me to his home using his Renault car.

Once I was living in his home, I was like a brother to him. We went out always together. On one occasion he invited me to go visit his mother who was in a hospital resting after surgery. She was pallid, about forty years old, and attractive. I never inquired upon her illness. Cesar introduced me to his mother and then we went back home. Cesar had two sisters: Virginia and Melissa and three brothers whose names I don’t recall. I only recall his sister Virginia because she used to feed me every morning when I went to school. She was very social as opposed to his oldest brother who at one point while I was working for him, a police officer came to try to take off of his truck his license plates because he parked on the non-parking area. In Mexico in those days if you park at the wrong area, transit officers just take off your plates. They used to carry a set of screw drivers. Any way going back to the previous story, Cesar’s oldest brother struggled with police for the license plates. Both were stocky but the police cut him in his face with the sharp edge of the plates and I am witnessing this.

To make ends meet, I had to go work with Cesar’s oldest brother. He sold enormous cheeses throughout the Nordic Sierras of Puebla. It was a par time job but it paid for my school supplies. Also, I exchange work for rent. They never asked me for money but I never wanted them to be angry at me so I tried to keep the books straight. Sometimes, if the cheese business was slow, Cesar had a light & sound business that he rented it to all kinds of parties. He was a DJ and I assisted him.

At one of these gatherings, I was introduced to Martha. She and I hanged out together for sometime and then we fell in love. After a while, Martha introduced me to her mother but never to her father. He was a firefighter and he was never home. Yet, the mother and brothers new of our relationship and I could come to her home daily If I wanted to. Martha became my official girlfriend from now on. Nevertheless, something inopportune happened a day that I went to pick up Martha, I knocked on the door and her mother opened it, I asked, is Martha here? But her mother said that she just stepped out and that she might be at Paseo Bravo Park. I head out in that direction and unfortunately a block away from home she was kissing and hugging another man and wearing the clothes, I bought her. I came closer and I told Martha why you do this to me? I slapped her on her face for treason. The guy was older and chunky, immediately right after the confrontation he wanted to fight me yet a friend of mine was passing by so he assisted me to kick him out. Martha said, “is your fault” but what happens was that I used to work for a liquor store; it occurs to Martha to come place a visit at my work. One that day some thieves came to my store to still wine bottles, snacks, and money at gun point. A little while after my incident Martha appears at my work asking me, “can you come with me to the 8^th avenue, I need to go buy some eggs” honestly, I was not having an enjoyable day and I think I told her, something like “do not bother me or I can’t go” she left but when I got out from work I went to look for her and it was when I found her with the other idiot.

My memories are many, but I realized that they were not wholly healthy; I always thought I could do better in life. Even if my immediate life wasn’t wholly good, I am not alone. The Even Better Study posits, “we can’t change what happened to us in our childhood or adolescence, but we need to do so. By working on mechanisms such as nutrition, behavior, perceptions of situations and solutions, stability, and healthy relationships, support, spiritual, values, and practices (Ornish 1999, p 38).

Relationships between human beings is established when you are sincere; when you are truth to your friends; when opening your hearth and trust of the other sentient being that wants to have a connection with you is present. (Ornish, 1999, p. 39).

I would like to end off with the following quote; Schopenhauer was contrary to Doc. Ornish’s research and discoveries because Schopenhauer defended, “that humankind was driven by desire, as well as the forces of nature, are manifestations of a single will, specially the will to live, which is the essence of the World. Schopenhauer asserted that since operation of the will means constant striving without satisfaction, life consists of suffering and that only by controlling the will through the intellect, by suppressing the desire to reproduce, can suffering be diminished” (Hubbard, 1992, p.139) But he is saying loneliness and Doc. Ornish is saying, but what are friends for better yet how do we have those friends without procreation? Schopenhauer was advocating a wrong doctrine impossible to live by you yourself on planet earth. You would need 8 pathways to Intimacy and Health.

GUT LEVEL REACTIONS

“Gut level reaction” of how I think & feel about what he wrote about the U.S.

Sincerely, first think that comes to my mind is the fact that the time that took Robert Khols to investigate, The Values Americans Live By, deserves value and admiration.

How he expressed it? It is maybe a generality but I think one size fits all American values in these thirteen observations by Mr. Khol. He is been honest and assertive.

Write an objective analysis of each value.

Personal Control Over the
Environment/Responsibility

Positive: In what respect to Christianity, does God control our future and every action we make through fate, or is there a combination of free will? How would you explain this somewhat philosophical debate in terms of Christianity’s beliefs?

Perhaps unrelated, yet it has been on my universe for some time. If Judaism didn’t have any idea of hell and Christianity was provided to the world from him, who was himself a Jew, how is it that Christians belief in hell? Why something as important for punishing would will be left out from the Old Testament and suddenly appear in the new?

Negative: I wonder what Elie Wiesel or an American soldier would think if you call him backward primitive or hopelessly naïve because they both believe in destiny (fate). As Wiesel has noted, “that day I encountered the first American soldiers in the Buchenwald concentration camp. I remember them well. Bewildered, disbelieving, they walked around the place, hell on earth, where our destiny had been played out.

Negative: Why if Americans don’t believe in fate? Why then some folktales indoctrinate us how useless it is to try to evade fate. One (from Minister-in-Sheppey, Kent) tells how a man killed his horse because a prophecy that it would cause his death- and so it did, much later, when he kicked its skull, cut his foot on a splintered bone, and died of blood-poisoning (Westwood, 1985:97-9).

Change Seen as a Natural and Positive

Positive: I can tend to agree with Mr. Kohls regarding what he means by change that indeed means a positive view for the minds of many Americans. The most fundamental idea in Scientology is called the Cycle of Action. It is apparency as follows: create, then

survive, then destroy. First there is creation. Then this followed by survival. Then this followed by destruction. The image above can best illustrate my point.

Negative: The cycle of action could also be defined as Create-Stop-Change.

Although I don’t disagree with the positive commentary towards change seeing it from the first perspective neither I disagree with the second point of view seeing it from the perspective of the more traditional American Culture. For instance if my dad lived in the United States of America I don’t think that he would want to change anything in his life. Nor his way of dressing, diet, hair style, language, beliefs, customs, his façade and heritage this attributes may not be valued as important for others but for sure worshiped by my dad.

So my definition of change is as follows: when change is too rapid, both ‘beigness’ and ‘havingness’ suffer. When change is too slow, both ‘beingness’ and ‘havingness’ suffer. For change is essentially the redirection of energy.

Positive:

Time and its Control

Positive: what is time but an abstract manifestation which has not existence beyond the idea of time occasioned by objects, where an object may be either energy or matter. For a more clear analogy check out the image. I think I would like to agree with the Mexican proverb, “ Al que madruga Dios le ayuda (early risers get God’s help…?)” for the last twenty five years that I’ve lived in the United States I noticed that factories, value (reward) you there at work and on time even if the company has little or no production at all. Personal observations. I can appreciate American culture for this specific attribute. Maybe that is why the average American has abundance because they also wealth. Yet abundance of assets comes with being able to keep a job, have good control management of time and or scheduling.

Negative: My parents in Mexico never really brought me up aware of why time was really an issue may be not in Mexico, in my little village or ranch but they could not anticipate that one day I will become a Citizen of the United States and time will become an important value to respect if I ever wanted to survive here in this enormous nation i.e. the United States of America. The eighteen years that I passed being raised in Mexico I never really had to work for a factory where I need to abide by punctuality. My job was paid on commission most the time. I manufacture onyx tables at my dad’s business for most of youth. I did not really have to worry about the fact that, “I am running out late for work, see ya!” like people will say in America. Another think that stroked me from living in America is that time is every one’s enemy. Everyone is always running and so friends and acquaintances never really have the time to create a long lasting relationship.

Equality/Egalitarianism

Positive: Our father founders intended it that way to be able to have a free nation away from the tyrannical British government and Monarchy oppressor rulers. I am very glad and I really value: Abraham Lincoln for his Gettysburg speech that he gave to all the death soldiers who fought in the Civil War. It has been one the most famous speeches ever written in the history of this nation; America is not longer the same country and we are seeing the changes now just we the reelection of our forty four newest president. Thomas Jefferson tremendously admired for his Declaration of Independence and as Mr. Khols has researched under Equality/Egalitarianism the United States won’t be the Beacon of Light for the rest of the world without the axioms written in his most cherished document which is the Declaration of Independence. Martin Luther King, were able to

Negative: The fact that you come from Africa and you want to be treated as a Prince. You have your dad who is the King of Sierra Leone and you come to the United States to check things out and you run into sticky situations where you are not treated as you were treated back in your country where you have your picture on your currency and so forth.

Individual and Privacy

Positive: I valued people from all walks of life. In my religious philosophy we work mostly with the Fourth Dynamic which is the Mankind dynamic. We are not alone in this vast planet our next door neighbor is our symbiont. However, today we all have to “think locally but act globally” what is that announces? Well! It does communicate the fact that we got to become more universal. Regaining power, status, wealth and individuality are good traits of the founders of New England back in the Middle Ages and that was the period of the Renaissance. Is close to a millennium after the arrival of the first settlers and we got to look for the way out of this garbage can I call Earth. Must be done collectively, we ought to work in teams groups, that is the way.

Negative: I remembered I said in class, that I don’t share my space and or food. Well maybe that was true yesterday but your class has completely shifted my point of view toward my son in law, Derek Warden. I had an unclear position here on food and space. I thank you for helping to think differently. It was negative how I behave by labeling food in the Frigidaire and so forth but I see that Americans value sharing their food and I will, from now on too.

Self-Help Control

Positive: What can I say when I have myself benefited from the greatest self-help book seller of the New York Times that is Lafayette Ronald Hubbard. I value this attribute of the American culture tremendously; I think this nation has great humanitarian people. Although, the United States, at least, for me will not be the only place in the world to reach my dream. I respect Americans for the fact that they are not self-important. I don’t think I have a preconception about them. I know them.

Negative: Americans know everything that it is almost impossible to share a piece of data with them. It is not the truth, you ask an American, can I help you, and their immediate reaction will be, do I have a sign on my back that says I need help? I don’t really appreciate that but every head is one world.

7. Competition and free enterprise Americans compete among each other these are annoying because if a group has the same ideals and purposes should support each other to emerge to valuable society.

Positive aspect: I hope that it is right that competence is driving this society to a better one; we do not of all the achievements of our society. Competence is making it better?

Negative aspect: Americans create discord, negative relations, dishonesty, braking relationships destroying others for cause of their one’s achievements

8. Future orientation Americans think of tomorrow, planning for tomorrow living and hopping that tomorrow will be better. It is what I noticed in the elections. They were hoping that the new President will change the economy, the war, and the

decadency of this nation.

Positive: Thinking of the future will remove the stress of the present and will help to prepare to organize anything with a better perspective.

Negative: to belief that planning will solve a problem is sometimes not good because sometimes we miss the important details of the present.

9. Action work orientation

Americans value work because it compensate for the things they owe. Americans recognize that hard work pays. People are busy planning organizing even they find time to volunteer for others in some cases.

Positive aspect: the working class has more than one job, executives will work in weekends to finish work, its very positive aspect because shows a high level of responsibility and they are ready to change the environment and

not to be effect of it.

Negative aspect: people that work a lot does not have time for personal relationship, feel lonely, and will not have friends, will not care for who is next to him.

10. Informality

Americans now days do not even say hi come in to the building and ignore you. In the higher level they use a hi! From the country I come from a good salutation protocol is expected. Dressing is true people do not dress up properly not even at work. People do not even shower in the mornings.

Positive aspect: informality promotes freedom, friendliness, and equality.

Negative aspect: for someone who cares for old traditions formality is a sign of class and status, informality will be braking with traditions long ago established.

11. Directness, Openness and Honesty

Americans are direct you can notice this on their news casting the more horrifying crimes are in display. Although it is hard to tell that this news are honest since sometimes they only emphasize one side of the story.

Positive Aspect: Directness, openness and honesty are practical tools in decision-making. It saves time and money. Americans really on these elements since decision-making is very important aspect of Americans transactions.

Negative aspect: do not take in consideration the humanism sensibility of others, some times to be direct and honest damages relationships. Prejudice of others can lead to ruptures in relationships.

12. Americans are practical?

I do not think that this is a general rule look at the war in

Iraq

billions of dollars spend daily. While the education system is failing to educate the future leaders.

Positive value: certainly Americans have created better ways of living developing technology and promoting that things can change for better.

Negative aspect: It is not truth that humanism is not involved in practicality. Leonardo Da Vinci was both a person who observed how things work and created masterpieces.

Believing that we can create ways to live better lifes involves philosophy and the arts. “Dreams are created by artists’ (LRH).

13. Americans like to spend?

This society is marketing oriented. Television is the medium to promote the new. Analysis of television commercials will easily tell who is directed to. The Americans spend in things that make them feel is worth their hard work.

Other cultures that did not have a valuable things when immigrate to America appreciate what they can afford and even buy used things.

Positive value: enforces their drive to production like a game. People benefit of this drive since production increases and products are sold.

Negative Value: Americans expend more time worrying about making payments to their lenders than desiring to have something instead of enjoying a person conversation.

What a great joy was to listen to John Lucas, the day before Thanksgiving, for he not only makes a lot of sense when he enunciates that we have to rethink the word ‘progress’ but that he is a great logician some one not illogical, rather he has looked around and has observed that our planet is in disarray and that we must as a nation-state embark upon some type of very unique teaching methodology that can help us find out who we are? How we are going to solve our differences? Only he who knows himself can have the ability to reinvent his own life and aid in bringing order in the dynamics of humanity, which in turn will give us better ideas to improve sustainability in the dynamics of the plants and animals. Some school of thought that we can all avail ourselves from it and one system in which we all can win, and one that we can use to improve the general ‘apathy’ and ‘tiredness’ of our American citizens. John Lucas kept the class focused throughout the entire interview by Mr. Moyers. He was our main focal point. If it was not by contributions by many of the international political leaders from Canada, England, France, Germany, and Italy that ‘radiated glamorous elucidation’ to understand ‘human activity’ throughout this introductory course of politics, not since the Roman empire had anyone been so organized, and good at war, quasi-utopical society, as the United States of America. Many claim it to be, if not number one, but best country in the world, yet much of our wisdom of politics stems from Greece and Rome and the aforementioned States. Each one of the countries above has drawn quite different conclusions in addressing the following questions.
1. What is the role of political ideas in politics?
2. What is the relationship between political ideas and political events?
Let’s go over and restudy the subject matter in political ideas in politics and its executions.
What is the role of political ideas in politics?
Before we get straight to the point, it is valid to define the word polity, Hague and Harrop wrote, ‘the Athenian polis operated on the democratic principles summarized by Aristotle […] this ethos applied to all institutions of government within the community” (p.43). History has told us that to bring politics and religion to the work place is a dangerous thing to do, most public detest to engage in this type of conversations, the ordinary man ignores of the art of politics and democracy, in many instances people have lost jobs and good friends for talking about religiosity issues and political ideologies to their coworkers and associates.
What is the meaning of the word ‘the government’? Hague & Harrop answered it as:
“arena for resolving political issues….refers to just the highest level of political appointments: to presidents, prime ministers and cabinet members at the apex of power….But in a wider sense government consists of all organizations charged with teaching and implementing decisions for the community, by this definition, [psychiatry], police, armed forces, bureaucracy, and judges.” (p.5). They are although sometimes not democratically elected, after all the rulers of our lives.
On the day before thanksgiving, a student and colleague made a comment in class about John Lucas Interview, “what will I gain by taking your class? much of what I will be learning maybe useless, for my future job or career is not in politics, I feel some type of an inequality going on in here in the ‘Culture’ of the educational opportunities, why if you go to a university and get a degree in engineering, I may or may not be on top of the ‘popular classes’ that make me feel uncomfortable, I feel I am just throwing money in the drain” said the student and teacher replied “Lucas will say the rich kid will go into physical therapy, or applied sciences where as the poor kid will shoot for a social worker degree, Lucas will make us aware of trade offs, we can talk about integration, efficiency, but bureaucratic isn’t aligned with the needs of the citizens.” (Guilley). In passing is valid to illustrate some thoughts about equality.
What is the roll of democratic ideas of equality in democracy for our politics?
Everybody knows equality is an axiomatic ideology which keep us fighting for our inherent human rights of opportunities and that is a very basic human right, here, in a democratic type of government. Rigby reports that institutions, organizations, universities or colleges pay very close attention of the ideas being passed on the ‘cultivated Culture’:
“Culture is the emanation of the State and its institutions (here one sees how the educational system is regarded as inseparable from ideas about Culture): ‘la culture officielle’, ‘la culture ligitime’, ‘la culture consacree’, ‘la culture cultivee’, ‘la culture savante’, ‘la culture universitarie’.…Culture is the preserve of dominant social groups: ‘la culture dominante’, ‘le pouvoir culturel’. Those who possess Culture are ‘les cultives’, ‘les intellectuels’, ‘les esthetes’…Culture is something that is kept within a small, privileged group, a favourite image here being that of the closed circuit [‘le circuit ferme’], which is sometimes taken to be fashionable social and cultural world of [United States of America or ‘le tout-United States de la culture’, ‘la cultura mondaine’] (p. 6-7).
Is Democracy a handful of monolithic plurality and is it a progressive and political idea for the State? Democracy may be its true form of government; the citizens from a State can have, but only and so long as the minds of those citizens are restricted to an uncorrupt state or condition in their ‘ethos’. When we can achieve this dream, then, we may or may not have an utopical polis it all depends upon ourselves and how long we can keep our morality and ethics presence. Otherwise, we will continue finding fault in our political leaders, bureaucracy and in turn victimizing ourselves. ‘Tiredness’ and ‘apathism” is illogical products and good for nothings.
Why does politics need to be defended? Because, we are surrounded by untrustworthiness amid citizens of our nation-state, perfect examples are found in the Power and the Idealist, As Berman has noted:
“The Red Army Fraction, claimed a fraternity with the new breed of revolutionary groups around the world…Vietcong, The Palestine Liberation Organization, the Tupamares, [of Urugay], the Black Panters. But mostly her organization resembled several other guerrilla currents that got their start in the New left upsurges of Western Europe…The Red Brigades in Italy; the Irish Republican Army in its modern…the Corsican nationalist guerrillas; and the Basque ETA… groups nearly indestructible.” (p. 6-7).
Where does violent behavior stem from and what can negative offences do to one another, and what do we know about mom and dad and their intentions of having their baby? A similar type of questions was addressed through our class course by a female, young, colleague and student who always used to sit in the back of the classroom and some and she was always unafraid to share her political ideas to the rest of the class, such was the case of when she asked, “what is the perfect way to raise a child’? Or some other interpretation of that will be, how has it been the growing of our minds and bodis since the moment of coitus? Restated, how much mental sanity mothers was put in the creating of their embryo? Scientist will claim that taking care of the fetus since the moment of inception and fertilization is of utmost importance than later. An infant isn’t born a blank slate. On the other hand is born with memory, but most of it are painful experiences.
A lot of the minds of some politicians are vague and imprecise, it is true, if we all have negative experiences done to us, then, what can we expect from our political leaders? Well! What they can do the plurality is to subjunctively apply what they know about democracy to their constituents. When fears, upsets, insecurities, nightmares, psychosomatic illness, and organic diseases dominate our politicians well beings and inner lives must be hard to come up with new political solutions and it is understood but they must arise for above the level of ‘homosapiens’ and try to imitate ‘homonovis’ ‘superhumans’ to lead us across the bridge.
What else can we do to combat emotional upheaval in our societies because it sounds like a plague is roaming our world? A good solution to it is that we recognize the ‘common good’ of our brothers and sisters, that we always put them in perspective, i.e. first place, before us, and it is not impossible and in fact ‘doable’ that we become more, more, united to be able to reinvent our aims, ideals, so that the roll of politics is able to play a more important job in our communities and so that we do, too. To eradicate the polluted personalities in our world today is possible, but only by renegotiating sweet emotions with one another, embracing each other, but that can only be achieved when equality administrates sovereignty and only then altruism would prevail, so that is when we would be able to be perceived each other as a member of the community, medical doctors will agree with this ideologies that the eradicating of humankind’s mental diseases is possible before we can achieve our political aims.
Promiscuity in politics is destruction for politics and this is again rooted in the subconscious mind and it dates back to the moment of inception. Cells have memory, cells can store every little piece of information, cells replicate, cells mutate, one can retrieve any movie, plot, or food we ate, words have meanings and one can reactive another’s negative emotional experiences, most information about mom or dad and any other personality that took place in the forming of the baby, such as: ‘a’ ‘b’ or ‘c’ is recorded as memory in the cells. I.e. Every sound, every smell, every touch, every perception, every kinetic movement, and every moment of unconsciousness can be unveiled from those cells. Today we got technology that we can use to re-file a negative experience stored in the unconscious cells of our body and re-fill it into the conscious cells of our brain, so that we are able to think more rationally and take better decisions in political ideas. How can a politician with emotional suffering do a good job to his constituents? In other words government who lack coherent ‘kratos’ (rule) must need to cleanse themselves inside out.
Democracy is the mistress for most democratic governments. It is going to be at stake in those decisions made by a nation-state every one must live with their mistress regardless of weather a lover dislikes her for her unmagical tricks i.e. if she shares her acts of kindness. At least communists claim to be democratic, however, the real trouble stems from the moment when they announce no to pretend to do democracy.
What causes this incoherent behavior in people? Lack of information of what is right and what is wrong about the subject of politics, by not having the true data can then give them the incorrect visual representation. How have the famous political idealist and thinkers listed later on this page done it to perceive what is right from what is wrong to dictate our lives? Well, to able to reason is conditional on the type of factual information and values. A good analogy to represent irrational behavior will be that of an imperfect software program written onto a computer processor unit, like we say before it will spit out the not so reliable answers and judged as incoherently or irrational. How does the roll of political ideas cause the most stress to our political community, nation, and world depends upon the kind of inscription etched to minds of our political leaders and how ‘clear’ these man’s minds are to perceive and to discern the truth.
We really need progressive idealist, thinkers, and politicians who can think logically, and who can volunteer their time, political knowledge, or expertise only so, step by step, we would reinvent our communities and nations-states, the kind of man that we been studying this fall quarter in intro to politics, have contributed with civilizing research in the world of political ideas in politics. They are Bernard Crick, Paul Berman, John Lucas, John Stuart Mill, John Quincy Adams, Giorgio Agamben, Ernest Bevin, Hanna Arendt, Herber Spencer, Hobbes, and Tocqueville.
What would happen to our world of political ideas if we had handful of these man aforementioned? The world would not be the same, but Improvement of our world is caused by shoulder to shoulder effort, everyone pitches in, we all got to do our parts to avoid victimization, belittling of each other and be in denial, we can’t blame bureaucratic governments for all of our ailments, for if we all share our reasoning, things can get less complicated to solve. Regardless, the improvement of our earth is team effort, we would all have to recycle as much as we can for the sake of our living things, i.e. to save the fish and Monterrey pines for compensation is more fructiferous when we give to the earth than when we receive from it, the benefits are always reciprocal; hence, private and public ethics and good effects of governance are required to achieve an utopical perfection, either as societies or political bodies, we got to climb to the summit, but that requires that ‘we’ must agree, for advancement or progress to occur, the sustainability of our ecosystems is growing weaker for that reason we got to hurry up before we arrive at emulating the dinosaur theory and vanish ourselves from the solar system that we live in.
What’s so good about historical facts is that these always repeat. If we need to recount to our future generations about events that took place during World War I & II back in Germany, Austria-Ungary, and Bulgaria with Hitler. By all means, feel free to educate them that is your responsibility as a parent, government official, and magistrate. You are entitled to pass it onto your offspring because that is cultural capital. Your children should have access to all the historical facts of the past. Their peers and teachers will teach them in school whether you take the time to do it or not. Not including looking at the ultimate history of Hitler, one knows that the evil man was very triumphant where one has taught that only good triumphs. Unfortunately, the person was an immoral being. This caused Hitler to have a failure and actually caused his downfall. John Lucas has believed, “American people today are taught less history as before, a hundred years ago man knew more about their past compared to present cultures. History consist of words because we think in words, we have been trough some mutation of consciousness, so people think history is useless, but there is some appetite to be fed, we cannot be afraid of death because we won’t enjoy life. Past knowledge is inscription of people and human life is the desire for more life when our desire crashes we die” (Lucas)
In The Power and the Idealist, Berman reported that the power of attraction for autocracy has its origins in the clear unsuccessful actions of liberalism in the aftermath of First World War. The following trends of ideas, such as: Facism, Nazim, Falangism, Communism find commonality, in two fundamental perspectives, Berman reasons. first they see themselves as a strong government, with scientific ideals, that really matter to our lives, but have a feeling of being opposed by antagonistic, savage, ignorant, primitive man whose only alternative or solutions to their freedoms is to welcome such ideologies to be safeguarded by and that is done by each individual releasing of their negative emotional experiences and helping to purify the rest of ‘fractions’ of harmful ideologies. Meritocracy or autocracy does not welcome new ideas, political system to protect themselves from impurity in their political system. The rest of those ideas aforementioned; hence, despotic governance is complicated, impractical and unworkable.
Politics is a group agreement, politics is improved with communication, the ideas agreed in politics become policy and are ‘implemented by force’ to citizens, but to be able to find common ground among governance it is of utmost importance to have strong communication skills on both sides of the spectrum so as to improve the affinity level for each other which in turn one can then have agreement, yet to accomplish a logical answer on must have logical data, Falangist ambitioned dogmatic religious homogeneity, but Spanish inquisition was bad politics for our ancestors, that is why as for ideals, as for honesty, as for ones love of one’s fellow man, one cannot find good survival for one or for many where these things are absent. On the one hand, the criminal does not survive well but also the average criminal spends the majority of his adult years caged like some wild beast and guarded, both physically, mentally and spiritually in autocratic governments regimes, and for this reason totalitarian ideals shall have to be only use when controlling flock of ruminants, these mammals are obedient, and will not protest.
Morals should be defined as a code of good conduct spread out of the experience of a civilization to be used as a uniform measure for the conduct of the race and the groups. Morals are actually laws. The source of a moral code comes about when it is found out through actual experience that some act is more nonsurvival than prosurvival. The prohibition of this act then enters into the customs of the people and may eventually become a law. You see. Therefore, it is quite simple to spot the truth. It would be require that one knows this subject of political ideas affecting politics really cold before one can embark upon evaluating the so illustrious books that we read in your class. A very deep, clear understanding of ethics, and justice to be capable of providing an ‘unaberrated’ solution to any implementation of any political idea. Where does violent behavior stem from and what can negative offences do to one another, and what do we know about mom and dad and their intentions of having their baby? A similar type of questions was addressed through our class course by a female, young, colleague and student who always used to sit in the back of the classroom and some and she was always unafraid to share her political ideas to the rest of the class, such was the case of when she asked, “what is the perfect way to raise a child’? Or some other interpretation of that will be, how has it been the growing of our minds and bodis since the moment of coitus? Restated, how much mental sanity mothers was put in the creating of their embryo? Scientist will claim that taking care of the fetus since the moment of inception and fertilization is of utmost importance than later. An infant isn’t born a blank slate. On the other hand is born with memory, but most of it are painful experiences.
A lot of the minds of some politicians are vague and imprecise, it is true, if we all have negative experiences done to us, then, what can we expect from our political leaders? Well! What they can do the plurality is to subjunctively apply what they know about democracy to their constituents. When fears, upsets, insecurities, nightmares, psychosomatic illness, and organic diseases dominate our politicians well beings and inner lives must be hard to come up with new political solutions and it is understood but they must arise for above the level of ‘homosapiens’ and try to imitate ‘homonovis’ ‘superhumans’ to lead us across the bridge.
What else can we do to combat emotional upheaval in our societies because it sounds like a plague is roaming our world? A good solution to it is that we recognize the ‘common good’ of our brothers and sisters, that we always put them in perspective, i.e. first place, before us, and it is not impossible and in fact ‘doable’ that we become more, more, united to be able to reinvent our aims, ideals, so that the roll of politics is able to play a more important job in our communities and so that we do, too. To eradicate the polluted personalities in our world today is possible, but only by renegotiating sweet emotions with one another, embracing each other, but that can only be achieved when equality administrates sovereignty and only then altruism would prevail, so that is when we would be able to be perceived each other as a member of the community, medical doctors will agree with this ideologies that the eradicating of humankind’s mental diseases is possible before we can achieve our political aims.
Promiscuity in politics is destruction for politics and this is again rooted in the subconscious mind and it dates back to the moment of inception. Cells have memory, cells can store every little piece of information, cells replicate, cells mutate, one can retrieve any movie, plot, or food we ate, words have meanings and one can reactive another’s negative emotional experiences, most information about mom or dad and any other personality that took place in the forming of the baby, such as: ‘a’ ‘b’ or ‘c’ is recorded as memory in the cells. I.e. Every sound, every smell, every touch, every perception, every kinetic movement, and every moment of unconsciousness can be unveiled from those cells. Today we got technology that we can use to re-file a negative experience stored in the unconscious cells of our body and re-fill it into the conscious cells of our brain, so that we are able to think more rationally and take better decisions in political ideas. How can a politician with emotional suffering do a good job to his constituents? In other words government who lack coherent ‘kratos’ (rule) must need to cleanse themselves inside out.
Democracy is the mistress for most democratic governments. It is going to be at stake in those decisions made by a nation-state every one must live with their mistress regardless of weather a lover dislikes her for her unmagical tricks i.e. if she shares her acts of kindness. At least communists claim to be democratic, however, the real trouble stems from the moment when they announce no to pretend to do democracy.
What causes this incoherent behavior in people? Lack of information of what is right and what is wrong about the subject of politics, by not having the true data can then give them the incorrect visual representation. How have the famous political idealist and thinkers listed later on this page done it to perceive what is right from what is wrong to dictate our lives? Well, to able to reason is conditional on the type of factual information and values. A good analogy to represent irrational behavior will be that of an imperfect software program written onto a computer processor unit, like we say before it will spit out the not so reliable answers and judged as incoherently or irrational. How does the roll of political ideas cause the most stress to our political community, nation, and world depends upon the kind of inscription etched to minds of our political leaders and how ‘clear’ these man’s minds are to perceive and to discern the truth.
We really need progressive idealist, thinkers, and politicians who can think logically, and who can volunteer their time, political knowledge, or expertise only so, step by step, we would reinvent our communities and nations-states, the kind of man that we been studying this fall quarter in intro to politics, have contributed with civilizing research in the world of political ideas in politics. They are Bernard Crick, Paul Berman, John Lucas, John Stuart Mill, John Quincy Adams, Giorgio Agamben, Ernest Bevin, Hanna Arendt, Herber Spencer, Hobbes, and Tocqueville.
What would happen to our world of political ideas if we had handful of these man aforementioned? The world would not be the same, but Improvement of our world is caused by shoulder to shoulder effort, everyone pitches in, we all got to do our parts to avoid victimization, belittling of each other and be in denial, we can’t blame bureaucratic governments for all of our ailments, for if we all share our reasoning, things can get less complicated to solve. Regardless, the improvement of our earth is team effort, we would all have to recycle as much as we can for the sake of our living things, i.e. to save the fish and Monterrey pines for compensation is more fructiferous when we give to the earth than when we receive from it, the benefits are always reciprocal; hence, private and public ethics and good effects of governance are required to achieve an utopical perfection, either as societies or political bodies, we got to climb to the summit, but that requires that ‘we’ must agree, for advancement or progress to occur, the sustainability of our ecosystems is growing weaker for that reason we got to hurry up before we arrive at emulating the dinosaur theory and vanish ourselves from the solar system that we live in.
What’s so good about historical facts is that these always repeat. If we need to recount to our future generations about events that took place during World War I & II back in Germany, Austria-Ungary, and Bulgaria with Hitler. By all means, feel free to educate them that is your responsibility as a parent, government official, and magistrate. You are entitled to pass it onto your offspring because that is cultural capital. Your children should have access to all the historical facts of the past. Their peers and teachers will teach them in school whether you take the time to do it or not. Not including looking at the ultimate history of Hitler, one knows that the evil man was very triumphant where one has taught that only good triumphs. Unfortunately, the person was an immoral being. This caused Hitler to have a failure and actually caused his downfall. John Lucas has believed, “American people today are taught less history as before, a hundred years ago man knew more about their past compared to present cultures. History consist of words because we think in words, we have been trough some mutation of consciousness, so people think history is useless, but there is some appetite to be fed, we cannot be afraid of death because we won’t enjoy life. Past knowledge is inscription of people and human life is the desire for more life when our desire crashes we die” (Lucas)
In The Power and the Idealist, Berman reported that the power of attraction for autocracy has its origins in the clear unsuccessful actions of liberalism in the aftermath of First World War. The following trends of ideas, such as: Facism, Nazim, Falangism, Communism find commonality, in two fundamental perspectives, Berman reasons. first they see themselves as a strong government, with scientific ideals, that really matter to our lives, but have a feeling of being opposed by antagonistic, savage, ignorant, primitive man whose only alternative or solutions to their freedoms is to welcome such ideologies to be safeguarded by and that is done by each individual releasing of their negative emotional experiences and helping to purify the rest of ‘fractions’ of harmful ideologies. Meritocracy or autocracy does not welcome new ideas, political system to protect themselves from impurity in their political system. The rest of those ideas aforementioned; hence, despotic governance is complicated, impractical and unworkable.
Politics is a group agreement, politics is improved with communication, the ideas agreed in politics become policy and are ‘implemented by force’ to citizens, but to be able to find common ground among governance it is of utmost importance to have strong communication skills on both sides of the spectrum so as to improve the affinity level for each other which in turn one can then have agreement, yet to accomplish a logical answer on must have logical data, Falangist ambitioned dogmatic religious homogeneity, but Spanish inquisition was bad politics for our ancestors, that is why as for ideals, as for honesty, as for ones love of one’s fellow man, one cannot find good survival for one or for many where these things are absent. On the one hand, the criminal does not survive well but also the average criminal spends the majority of his adult years caged like some wild beast and guarded, both physically, mentally and spiritually in autocratic governments regimes, and for this reason totalitarian ideals shall have to be only use when controlling flock of ruminants, these mammals are obedient, and will not protest.
Morals should be defined as a code of good conduct spread out of the experience of a civilization to be used as a uniform measure for the conduct of the race and the groups. Morals are actually laws. The source of a moral code comes about when it is found out through actual experience that some act is more nonsurvival than prosurvival. The prohibition of this act then enters into the customs of the people and may eventually become a law. You see. Therefore, it is quite simple to spot the truth. It would be require that one knows this subject of political ideas affecting politics really cold before one can embark upon evaluating the so illustrious books that we read in your class. A very deep, clear understanding of ethics, and justice to be capable of providing an ‘unaberrated’ solution to any implementation of any political idea.
