Yes, you heard right. The EcoLogo Program recently announced that it has officially kicked off its first environmental standard for toys. By developing this standard for children’s products, the EcoLogo Program is making it easier for adults looking to buy “greener” products for the children in their lives.

Collectors of Canadian AIR MILES points will be happy to learn of a new addition to the consumer rewards program. It’s called My Planet. This recently launched program allows Collectors to redeem AIR MILES reward miles for over one hundred environmentally sustainable (greener) rewards. My Planet offers a wide selection of rewards from greener personal care products to charitable donations to organizations like the World Wildlife Fund. Winners of the 2009 Sustainable Packaging Competition were recognized at this event for efforts made to lead the way toward environmental sustainability.

“The purpose of the competition is to recognize the leaders of the packaging community for their efforts in advancing the sustainable packaging movement in Canada and beyond,” explains James Downham, President and CEO of PAC.

In order to determine who should receive a sustainable packaging award, PAC examines key elements of the sustainable package system and sorts them into three categories: (more…)

Last week, TerraChoice Environmental Marketing launched its 2009 Seven Sins of Greenwashing report, revealing that more products on store shelves are claiming to be green. However, don’t let those shampoo bottles and baby wipes fool you. Many of those ‘all-natural’ and ‘organic’ products are likely committing at least one of the Seven Sins (see below).
