What is MyLot?

MyLot is mainly a discussion platform whereby users in MyLot can discuss on any topic, or start your own discussion topic, if you wish to seek help or get some advices from the community. Furthermore, you can also discuss on headline news. Top international news are updated in MyLot so the community can share their own point of view.

You can make new friends. MyLot has a profile system, something like Facebook. Build your own profile, or just view on others. Find similar interest through discussions, and make friends.

Last but not least, make money. MyLot has a earning program to reward you with money just by participating in discussions. Provide quality feedback or begin an interesting topic and you will get rewarded.

That is all for the overview of MyLot. Let's go into the details.

Participate in discussions

Discussion section by far is where all the community of MyLot located. There is unlimited range of discussion category that can be choosen from, if it doesn't exist, just create a new one. How it works is that, you choose a category, and mark it as one of your favorite, and you will get updated with any new discussion started within it. Like this

Click on image to enlarge in new window

Don't worry, there won't be annoying email update alert on each topic started in your favorite category, however, every new reply to you in the discussion that you started or participated, you will get an email notification. Luckily there is a setting in preference menu whereby you can turn this off, or you can just create a filter like what i do in my gmail account. Skip the inbox and tag it in a label.

One thing special about MyLot is the quality feedback that you get from the discussions. No spam, no promotion from any user whatsoever, pure quality discussion. This is possible due to the earning program offered by MyLot. What happens is that, whenever a discussion or reply had been posted in a topic, anyone get to rate it. Obviously, you get to earn more if your reply or discussion is rated '+' by other users, and less if it is marked '-'. People who took initiative to rate others comment also gets incentive for participation. This is by far, in my opinion, the perfect system to get people to participated effectively.

However, don't expect every topic to be full of community ready to answer your question, some very niche topic can get left out pretty easily, since the community often sided to the hot discussion category. Some example of left out niche topic is website topic like Friendster, game topic like tetris and 'things i have done with my life' topic like i messed up & regret...i learned and grow!!! (There can be very weird topic titles)

Here is a discussion i have started, and others. Have a look! (You might get annoying grayed screen to ask you to signup, but you can skip those and view the discussion without signing up.)

Best way to approach a stranger (Girl) - My topic of seeking relationship advice. LOL
Over the counter medicines - Interesting topic that i have never thought of, 12 responses in 7 hours.
Global warming and mankind - Great responded topic with two side of opinions.

I had also mentioned discussing on everyday headline international news. However, this section of MyLot looks rather inactive. All the news posted have either one reply or none, perhaps all these is updated frequently and old news are pushed away from display? I'm not so sure, but this section could have be a great and very interesting place to comment on if the news posted were geographically targeted, so we can discuss and share opinions on our country's news. Don't you think so?

Profile and friend system

It is great for MyLot to have a profile system so that we can make friends with the community here. Some of you may think, do i have to abandon Facebook since there is another alternative for it? Absolutely no. MyLot profile and friend system is not as powerful as Facebook, where you can share your photos and update your status to tell your friends what's going on. Profile and friend system here in MyLot is a much simpler system to allow MyLot community to text each other, as well as get updated whenever your friend started a new topic, and view your friends recent activity, and that is it. This is my profile if you are interested to see. =)

Earning program

This is something that you can ignore totally, because don't expect big bucks from MyLot, cause the most they pay you is a dollar a day, if you totally have no life and spend all day responding to discussions and starts your own. Nobody knows exactly on the earning algorithm or formula in this program. It is kept secret and bringing it up as a discussion topic is against MyLot rule and regulation. So that nobody can exploit it or find a loophole and make a good profit out of it, without making quality respond, which destroy the whole purpose of MyLot.

There is also alternative to earning in MyLot, such as doing tasks that other community request or playing games in an associate sites at WorldWinner.com. However, the task given is all signup to a bux site task, or some task that requires you to download and install unknown software, so i do not encourage you to do any of those. There are some easy tasks such as commenting and like some Facebook picture or blogs, but mostly they only pays you fraction of a dollar. (for Facebook competition such as vote like on picture to win something, this is a site where you can place your offer for people to hit the like button for you, yeah its a little bit of cheating lol!) I am also strongly discourage you to join WorldWinner gaming site, it is most definitely forbidden for Muslim users, since it is a gambling site, and for non-Muslim users who wish to try, please be noted that there are tons of reviews out there states that this site is exploited to ensure you lose more than win through gambling.

However, it has a good referral system, each person you refer to MyLot, you get 25% incentive bonus of their earning. You get paid only through PayPal account with a minimum Payout of $10. If you don't have a Paypal account, you can signup for free here.

User Friendliness

So far I have no problem navigating around this website. All links and menu can be accessed through the navigation bar from every page in MyLot. Rules and regulations are easily understandable as well as getting use to the site system. There are many settings and preferences to be adjusted, so you can modify them to suits your preference. Don't forget to read their FAQ and guidelines if you have problem with the website, they have listed a very comprehensive of common questions and answers there.

Bottom line
The bottom line is, this is a great site for you to participate if you love to respond and discuss on anything, or you would just looking for some advice and helps from any question that has been boggling your mind.

Give it a try if you are interested at MyLot.com!

Some of you may heard about Squidoo before, but some may not. Let me introduce this awesome site that everyone is able to worthily spend their time on the internet.

What is Squidoo?

Squidoo is a publishing platform with tons of community that allows you to publish and share things that you like online into something they call "lens". Lens is something like pages, it can be videos, some interesting happening you experienced, your story, talent, anything that interest you, tutorial, article, and anything else. It is named lens because like lens of a camera, in Squidoo, your lens is your perspective of something.

While there is things that you can share online, there are also tons of lenses contributed by everyone that joined Squidoo! All of them are well and comprehensively written. There are just too many things that you can learn from this lens library. If you are worry of quality, there are absolutely no spamming lens, bad grammar lens, low content lens, that bores you if you just browsing around, thanks to good moderation and ranking system. You can be a member for free, and in addition to its kudos, if your content is good, you might just get some money royalty for charity or yourself, I'll get to that later.

Here are some of my favorite lenses:
Creating a Bucket List - 100 things to do before you die
This lens basically have a full ideas and summary that you can take it and create your own check list of things to do before you die! Not that we are looking forward for that day, but nobody wants to verge to the day when we are dying regretting there is not enough time to do things we always wanted to.

Do ghosts exist?
Here is another of my favorite one, you can basically debate with the community on whether or not ghost exist! This debate type of lens is also another feature on Squidoo. Also debate on tea or coffee!

How to donate your hair?
Apparently, you can donate your hair to do charity! I never knew about this after I came upon this lens.

What I learn being homeless
Personal experience of a person being homeless.

There are so many lens in so many different categories and niche that exploring them seems endless.

A few fun facts (Taken from the website)

1. Squidoo has nearly 1,800,000 hand built lenses.

2. Squidoo has been reviewed by the New York Times, Mashable, BoingBoing and sites and papers around the world. But the reviews we're most proud of: those from our lensmasters, who talk about Squidoo and their lenses on their blogs.

2.5 We call our pages "lenses" because each is one person's focus on something that she's interested in, something that matters to her.

3. Squidoo was founded in 2005 and was live to the world in 2006. The founding team consisted of just four people. In 2010 we're only at 6 full time people.

4. As of October 2010 we are one of the 100 most popular websites in the US.

5. Squidoo grew 91% in 2008. 2010 update coming soon.

6. We launched the site with the tagline "Everyone's an expert (on something)." We have since learned that while this is indeed true, most people are too humble to consider themselves serious experts. Rather, most people think of themselves as hobbyists, passionates, interested (and interesting) folks. And that's what we've got here. Taglines are overrated.

7. We generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual royalties to charities and to our users.

8. There's a Squidoo cookbook! In early 2009 Seth and Megan wrote The Joy of Squidoo: A Recipe Book for Great Lenses.

9. If you want to know more about Seth Godin, Original Squid and founder and bestselling author and blogger, look here.

10. Many lensmasters earn more than $1,000 a year from Squidoo. Some make $10,000. Others are happy with $40 or $4. Lots give it to charity.

11. Most of our best users aren't here for the money. It's just a fortunate byproduct of their passion and great content.

12. As of October 2010: More than one million people visit Squidoo (that means your lenses)every day. The more traffic one lens brings in, the greater the chances that visitor will see your lens as well. That means it's good for you when your competition on Squidoo succeeds.

13. 100,000 people are subscribed by email to the Lens of the Day award and email, full of tips for making better lenses. Are you?

14. SquidU is our lensmaster-run community for teaching and talking about great lenses. It's a great place to go if you need help.

15. Squidoo is free to use.

16. Many of our lensmasters earmark their earnings for charity, and the Squidteam also makes donations to worthy causes throughout the year. So far, Squidoo has generated more than $500,000.00 to charities around the world, including Acumen Fund, charity: water, Room to Read, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and literally hundreds of others. We hope you'll join us in creating positive change in the world.

- What does 200mW means in Laser?

mW is the measurement of miliwatts, which refers to the power level of the laser beam. Higher value corresponds to brighter laser.

- Laser wavelength?

Light or photon particles do not travel in a straight line, to be exact, in wave format. Wavelength, measured in nanometers (nm) is the distance between each wave. This affects the color of the light. 400 - 700nm display a color range of violet, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. Typically, lower wavelength laser product produces brighter beam with constant power output level.

- Hazardous?

Red laser are a lot less hazardous compared with green ones. This is due to the radiation projected from these lasers. Red laser does not project infrared radiation, while green one does. These radiation are invisible, and does not cause pain to eyes, since they are not visible, but they can make you blind!

- Laser Product Classes?

Here is a table of all classes, it's hazard and product example:

Description

This product comes with a short cotton lanyard, and an adjustable focus lens. The focus lens is used to adjust the focus point of the laser, whereby amplifying the power output to burn matches, pop balloons, etc. It is attached to the laser using screw thread. The tolerance in the screw joint is quite high, causes it to become a bit lose when attached. The spring itself doesn't make the condition any better, but I changed the spring into a harder one that fixed the problem.

The laser diode is sealed in the laser compartment, to prevent any unwanted modification, such as removing the safety chip which can overpower it into a more dangerous laser or simply destroy it.

There is a clicky switch on the back end of the laser, also screw lock. Press once to turn on and again to turn it off. In my opinion, this isn't the best place to place a switch on handheld laser. It is not convenient enough to hold it by one hand, whereby you have to keep changing your holding posture to turn it on and back to holding it again. Normal laser pointers would have its button attached on the side of the laser, which you can hold down your thumb to turn it on. On the upside, this configuration allows you to leave it on without holding it, which you can hold it with a tripod holder. Something like this.

The middle compartment of the laser is made of coated metal. They seem to be sturdy and won't get deform easily on hard impact. It uses two CR2 batteries which are sold separately.

Want to see the laser in action? Here is a video made by one of the buyers. He managed to pop balloons (he painted the balloon with marker pens because black absorbed laser heat more than transparent body), light matches, and many more. This shows how powerful the laser is!

Some reader at this point must have wonder, what possible use I could get it out of this? Its a boy's thing, we are easily fascinated by powers and technology. Basically this toy is mainly used to impress other people, create a prank by popping parade party balloons, use it to light cigarettes if forgot to bring lighter, and write a blog review about it (just kidding!). These are just toys, not for small children though, because they can be quite dangerous. Never point it directly into the eye, and never stare at the focused beam for a long period of time, this may cause dizziness.

Before buying this items, please be acknowledged that lasers above 1mW are illegal to purchase or shipped in Australia and above 5mW for USA and Netherlands. For those unlisted, please be sure to check with local authority.

Lastly, price comparison. Some famous branded laser products such as WickedLaser.com and DragonLasers.com, sells laser at same output and wavelength, price ranges from USD 99.90 to 319.00! The one from DealExtreme.com? USD 27.09! The price was USD 27.40 when I first bought it. This is hard to get price in the world, and according to many users, they proved to produce rated output.

So go and have a look, as well as read other user's reviews!
You must be thinking, since the site is customizable for the users, there has to be spams and misleading links to advertisement, their own website etc., but fear not! Sidereel administrator and moderator team had done a good job in keeping these out from their site. All the submitted link are prior to approval.

What privileged I got if I'm a registered user?

Before we go into that, let me tell you about the two ways that you can register as their user. The normal "fill in the form" with email confirmation, and "Facebook Connect". Through "Facebook Connect", you are agree upon to share your basic information to Sidereel, and you are good to go. It takes me just two clicks away to register. If you go through the normal sign up fill in the form method, you only required to share your email, time zone, year of birth and country. All you have to worry is possibly Sidereel sending spam to your inbox, so far, I received none. And even if they did, it would be easy to block spam through your email settings. Okay, back to the registered user privilege.
What else can you do?

If you feel like a contributing, feel free to submit any online streaming link that you know of, and its not been submitted yet. Mark and report any broken link that you came upon.

Purchase episode downloads. Since you get all the free entertainment from these shows, doesn't hurt if you could give some back by buying them. Show writers and actors entertain you for their living, so tips them by buying the episodes through Amazon and ITunes link. Free online streaming links are MegaVideo, CBS (not available in Malaysia), DailyMotion, and many others.

Wait, is this site legal?

Yes. Sidereel is 100% legal, since it is not hosting any of the videos in the website, but being a bridge linking all the streaming video sites to theirs. However, this website is not available to residents in US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and most of the western Europe.

Turn down

From what I had seen so far, some of the old series episodes (dated from year 2005) lack of reliable source link, you may not be able to watch some of the very old episodes. Also, there are not many anime listed here (only 28 so far). Only those popular ones, such as Death Note, Detective Conan, and Pokemon. Guess they need more Asian's contributors.

Bottom line

The site is easy to navigate. Simple easy to understand interface.

Website is very clean and free of annoying advertisements.

Video tour guide in homepage, you'll understand the whole feature provided through this video.

Easy to register through Facebook. (Note: If you want to delete your Sidereel account, simply delete the Sidereel application through your Facebook application setting.

Full range of ranks and reviews on current hottest series.

They are good company if you are worrying of taking your electronic equipment along with you, digital camera especially, while going for white water rafting, boat trip, fishing trip, kayak, etc. However, all dry bags aren't cheap, and so far I haven't seen any cheap manufacturer in the market. A typical 20-Liter dry bag price can vary from 60 to 120 Ringgit (19 to 38 USD), depends on the brand.

I've recently won a bid for this particular item, Trendz 20-Litre Dry Bag. Other sizes available in the market ranges from a small 1-Liter pouch (For small digital camera or handphones) to a 30-Liter duffel bag, travelling purposes.

The picture on right roughly shows how it looks like and it's size. The bag comes with a detachable adjustable sling where it can be attached to the D ring located on top and bottom of the dry bag. Or you can customize yourself using a Carabiner clip to attach it on your luggage, etc. Theres four D ring on top of the bag (two on the buckle clip and another two on the rubber padded strap handle) and only one at the bottom. There is a buckle clip on
top of the bag which is used to seal the bag. I'll go more detail into that later.

The joints are all combination of sew and glue. There is no part whereby the two separate layers looks peeled or improper finishing, and they don't look like tearing off anytime soon, everything looks very sturdy. The waterproof material (yellow) is made of deformable thick canvas, that feels like it is going to last for years. I'm not sure if it will get deteriorate after long exposure to sunlight though. By the way, by means of thick that I had described here, it is about the thickness of 10 sheet of papers stacked together.

Other than using the sling to carry the bag, it also has a rubber padded strap located on top of the bag for one hand carry. The quality made is superb and it feels comfortable. The strap is nicely, cross sewed twice on each side of the black rubber like material underneath, and glued on the yellow canvas. The D rings provided here allows you to secure it onto a boat, to another bag, or just hang another gadgets onto it. Feels like it can handle a lot of weight without a problem.

Now, comes to the part where I'll tell you how this bag seals for waterproof at its opening.

Just in case if you can't read the words, it says:

1) Flip flap over stiffener 3 times.

2) Close buckle.

On one side of the opening, it has some flexible hard plastic bar, which they called stiffener. As the top of the bag is rolled down, air is trapped inside this bag, which creates pressure. This pressure force will tighten the canvas around the stiffener as it rolls down, which creates seal. Multiple folds will ensure the seal is done nice and tight. Picture below shows when its open and closed.

This dry bag is classified as Class-3 in Waterproof Store System Class, which defined as:

Class 3 – Waterproof so tight it floats or can handle quick submersions. The product could be permeated by water in any of the following applications: prolonged submersion, submersions greater than 3 feet in depth, high water pressure applications.

Although it is submersible, but don't go and take this bag to go for 15 feet dive, it is not meant to function in that condition. However, it can handle quick submersions, whereby it is suppose to float after short submerse. Another important point is never fully pack your items in this bag, leave some air space so that it can float on if it is accidentally dropped. You don't want to see this thing sink all the way to the bottom if it drops into river or sea.

So that is basically it! I can't wait to use mine in my future island trips, There are other brands available, such as HyperGear, AquaPac, NRS, ProPack and many more as well as different color to choose from. I chose yellow because it is quite visible from a distance, just in case if any emergency encountered.

If you want to know how I got mine, just contact me! I'm not selling it, but perhaps I can show you some of the local options as well as international.

So, which one do you have? Are you going to buy one? Tell me your experience using it!

Leave it in the comment section below. Thanks!

I am sure most of you did not explore deep into your Google Chrome. Google Chrome extensions are some of the plugin that can greatly enhance your browsing experience! The extensions that I am going to go through below are some that i use regularly. Let's get started!

Face Book Photo Zoom
Dev: regisgaughan.com

Always a hassle to view facebook photos one per page, and need to return to album view all the pictures in thumbnails again so you can explore? Now you don't have to go through that with this chrome extension.

Just mouse over the
picture that you want to view on its original size! Some of the settings include the view fading time, opacity, delays and enable captions of the zoomed picture! This works anywhere! In photo album, profile, status and update page as long as it is in Facebook.

By the way, the picture shown here is one of my favorite singer from Singapore, Jeric Tan!
Tired of letting chrome to set your favorite page automatically, and sometimes it end up with something that you don't like? and you have to visit that specific page often enough to get it listed in the initial page tabs? With this extension, you are able to replace the old default chrome tab with your own choice of tab you want.

Customizable link, picture that represent that tab, number of rows and columns makes this a great shortcut for those who want to access to site without trying to find that tiny icon on the pesky bookmark tab or type the address on the address bar. This extension opens up a list of your favorite website every time you hit new tab.

The only missing feature that i dislike about this plugin is, the recently closed tabs button which the default chrome has. One click to re-open all the tabs that had closed in previous use.

Chrome Bird
Bored of pop up advertisements? This extension block advertisements for you from any site that you are visiting.

It comes with the option whereby you can exclude some sites to allow advertisement to be shown.

When ads is disabled from one site, it means that specific site won't be able to earn profits from serving advertisement to you. So consider a mutual benefit before you decide block ads from a certain site. It is only meant to block sites that serve excessive annoying advertisements!
Or just another scam? This site is newly established since 1st of September. This site is for every lazy people who do not have anything on schedule for few months ahead and wish to earn some change. No it is not a PTC (paid to click) site, paid survey site, nor paid captcha typing site. It is a site that is somewhat a new concept.

From the first look of the site, it offers $25 as a sign in bonus, $10 for every referral that you invited, and up to $20 each single day that you are active. Being active, meaning that you have to complete a few tasks inside the website, which you have to read their blog, complete their survey (daily), share or apply for their job listing.
If you are inactive for more than two days, your daily income will be suspended, and your account will be terminated after inactive for a month. I understand why they put the figure so high. For every newly developed system, there must be a method used to attract as many users to visit and join as possible. Without privacy intruding terms of service, and email spamming, plus non-scam review by many popular site review writers, this site has proven to be successful in its first stage in my opinion.

It sounds too good to be true right? Indeed. The currency that they offer for the rewards above are not an available currency now. According to their TOS (terms of service), the currency is used is PayBox currency. It is autonomous and independent of all nations and governments. Something like points system that is only usable within that website. However, despite of that, the goal of this website is to create a community, whereby people are able to perform transactions, currency exchanges, online stores, business integrations, and many more, quite similar to PayPal, with extra features.

While other sites offers points in exchange of goods or fixed amount of cash, this company is creating a free flow of currency exchange which differs from different country. Its ambitious.

The system now is still enclosed, meaning that all the PayBox $ you get in balance, you don't get any value out of it till its officially allows you to.

In my opinion, the site is free to join, there is no inbox spamming, no privacy intrusion, why not give it a try since it is giving away early bird participation bonus? Who knows it may gives a good change by the end of this trial. Also, it doesn't take great effort to answer sign up details.

So far, I've done some comprehensive research on proving the legitimacy of what this site claim, to have cash to all users, even in a small portion. Here are the facts that I found:

Private domain owner - If you would go check on this domain owner from any search engine, you would have zero return. Although not all side with private owner is a scam, but this one just had another reason to turn down trusts.

Until now, all the announcements and newsletters are all repetition of previous posts. It's a way to convince people to stay on this site, but too much repetition just cause more doubts since there isn't proofs of any site advancement.

Google Advertisements - To your knowledge, PayBox pages is filled with Google AdSense advertisements. Now PayBox created a contest for over a month to this date, whereby you can vote on card designs to have a chance to win 100 USD, and the best design would win 1000 USD. Now this contest is done whereby users need to click 'Like' and 'Dislike' on each design, and the page refreshes. What this does to the website is, it creates page views, literally millions of them! Until the site is Alexa Ranked at #882 in the whole wide web! So they solely can get rich by just getting AdSense's profit! Since they could earn through 'Per 1000 Page Impression' paying method from AdSense.

My logic says, I don't invest, therefore, i don't lose any. But to the matter of fact, I've lose my time, my email information (whereby these can be sold to companies for advertising and spamming) and worst of all, my effort voting on those card designs.

Well maybe they are going to give all the visitors some small portion of the money they made from AdSense, maybe they don't, nobody know for sure. But right now, I believe that every user is having their doubts to the website already. So before any of you wanted to give that site a try, I wouldn't recommend it.
He likes small stuffs, and he use flashlights in his work to see hidden small tag number on large engines and equipments, so i thought it would be a great idea to buy him this as a gift!

Fenix is a reputable China company that design and manufacture high quality flashlights that tally with world standards. This particular model is their smallest product so far, the Fenix E01.

Its casing is made out from aircraft grade aluminum, weight only 14 grams (without the battery) and the Nichia white GS LED shoots out a tiny 10 lumens out from this small flashlight. Even better? It is waterproof!

Fenix E01 also comes with a spare o-ring and
a steel key-chain ring, which can be handy if the used o-ring wear out, and you can replace them right away.

The exact size of Fenix E01 is 7.1cm in length and 1.4cm in diameter. How small is that? Get yourself a ruler, and yes, it is that small, just like my skinny little finger.

This flash light is too small for a clicky switch, therefore, Fenix designed this flashlight to have a twist-open switch, which can be turned on by simply turning the front cap. Typically, a cheap flashlight with this type of switch mechanism tend to turn on accidentally by itself, because of bad manufacturing accuracy and tolerance. A little tap or press on the cap and you'll realize your flashlight battery depleted even before you know it. A whole different story for Fenix E01, its build quality is superb! My dad had used this over a year now, and so far, this flashlight is satisfyingly functioning well.

However, I find it funny that it doesn't have a protective glass cover, yet it still manage to meet the IPX-8 standard, which is a standard for waterproof product - able to submerged in 1 meter water for 30 minutes. Surprisingly versatile for outdoor use, whether you are going out for a river side camping, working on a wet environment, out in the dark when it is raining, Fenix E01 will not fail you.

The end cap is a three spoke flat surface, which enable it to stand like a candle (which you can turn on the flashlight and leave it stand vertically on a flat surface to illuminate a room with white ceiling), but i don't think 10 lumens for Fenix E01 is good enough to read a book if its used in this way, however, for emergency uses, it is okay just to have a small room dimly lit up.

In addition, one of the spoke has a hole in it, which you can put the included steel key-chain ring. Attach it to a lanyard, key, or hand phone makes Fenix E01 a handy gift for everyone.

Another great feature of Fenix E01 is the regulated circuit located at the light cap. This circuit enable to provide12 hours sun mode, and 13 hours moon mode, which means constant brightness for 12 hours, and slowly dim to nothing for the next 13 hours. However, I find that the "moon-mode" doesn't really seems useful to me. But 12 hours for a single AAA battery is good enough for my dad to get his job done without worrying of replacing the battery in awhile.

The useful range for this 10 lumen beam is only two meter. Further than that, you will see a fade away purple beam resulted from the dispersed white beam. This flashlight is definitely for normal reading use only. If you are trying to get out from the forest using this flashlight, just forget about it.

Fenix E01 is manufactured in different color, mine is olive color.

Its fairly cheap, considering the quality and versatility. A great gift for your love one, and a useful thing to hang around your key-chain!
Bought this LED flashlight from Lelong.my last week, arrived two days ago. Lets have a review!

This is a product from Hong Kong's company HWA/WYS, original as manufactured without any modification. (Normally these high power flashlights' LED are mod-able). You must be thinking, flashlight? Well, this is no ordinary pasar-malam (night market) RM 20 flashlight, and here is why.
good, dropping this on the ground would just plain heart-ache. Utilizing a single CREE Q5 LED, providing a juicefull of 200 lumen (max) of bright white beam. Other feature include crown-groove like lens cap at the tip of this LED flashlight, which gives it a more tactical look.

Tail cap clicky switch is located at the other end of this flashlight, and two o-rings (one at each end of the battery chamber) provides water resistance that makes this baby best idea to bring around for outdoor purposes (IPX-8 standard allows more than 30 minutes in 1m water depth). Bring it to your fishing trip, to a night camp, dipped this flashlight in the water? No harm done. Another thing I love about this flashlight is that it has flat tail cap, which allows it to be positioned vertically on a flat surface, and use it like a candle in a closed room. Now this only works if you have a bright ceiling or bright top tent. Under a tree seems to works, but less effective.
A throw gives you ability to spot the farthest object, and a spill is needed to reveal large surrounding areas. I have to say this flashlight can really brighten up the dark like no other ordinary flashlight.

This LED flashlight circuit module also comes with 3 mode settings - High, Low and Strobe. Lower brightness increase its operating life, and strobe is used for self defense and hunting purposes (Similar in action movie "Kick Ass"). Shine this CREE powered LED flashlight directly at enemy's eyes using strobe mode will make them disorient and temporary blinded. I've tried shining this flashlight into my eyes for 0.5s, and I'm very sure that would be the very last thing i'll do. But I personally thinks that its a little bulky to become a lady's possession.
This model can use 1 x 18650 or 2 x CR123A battery. The package that i bought only include one 18650 3.7V 2400 mAh battery, that can be used for a continuous 3 hours of operating life (the picture shows the size compared to a triple A battery). One "3 triple A" battery adapter is also included that can be used in case the 18650 battery depleted. The drawback is, lithium battery must be used to match the brightness while using the 18650 battery. Retail price for one of this 18650 battery is about RM 25.
The things that i like about this pouch is it comes with the lock clip. Other than using the velcro adhesive (because this adhesive normally will worn over time), the clip can also be use as a secondary lock mechanism.

Other accessories that can be search through the internet include a gun mount (a special mount with a groove that fits modern gun tips), pressure switch, and extender (use to put two 18650 battery for increase brightness and operating life).

There are other famous model of LED flashlight, such as Fenix and Surefire, but these branded product with same lumen, can reach up to a staggering RM 200 +! I manage to bid this item at RM 74, while market price out there can reach up to RM100 +. Not a cheap price, but reasonable and useful for someone who really likes adventures, like camping, hiking, exploring, search & rescue, cave venturing, etc.
