Because it was different, my children were initially skeptical, but after the first bite they showed such happy enthusiasm, that I felt a little sad for my mother's tuna casserole recipe. I realized it would be a long time before I made her recipe again. This classic American favorite food had been updated, sigh. But all kitchen's need up-dating once in a while. However, the cost is in the labor, not the ingredients. I can make the same great-tasting, healthy dog biscuits at home, and I do. For me, it's been much more cost-effective to use Martha Ward's Doggie Delights and Kitty Cuisine cookbook and bake dog biscuits that my dogs will actually do tricks for.<br/>

I'd bought the beef tenderloin on sale, so I was saving money too. With quiet music playing, candlelight on the dining room table, and a bottle of wine, Kay and I were pretending we were luxuriating at the White Gull Inn. The White Gull Inn is a famous Wisconsin restaurant on the Door County peninsula, and I'd  prepared their recipe for stuffed tenderloin filet.<br/>

Point in case, - Wisconsin fudge shops...But sadly, many of Wisconsin's offspring and vacationers have been forced by circumstances to leave our great state. Fearing they will perish without a sufficient supply of life-sustaining fudge, today I am passing along one of Wisconsin's best recipes for fudge. I found it in Jerry Minnich's North Woods Cottage Cookbook.<br/>

To make these simple and delicious cookies fun for our children's Halloween party, I frosted them with Helen Myhre's "basic powdered sugar frosting" recipe from her Wisconsin cookbook, The Norske Nook.<br/>

Jerry says that you could substitute lentils for the peas. Either way, he writes, "Nothing fancy about this one. But it's a good, hearty fare, another way to use up those ham scraps." Perhaps this soup will even reappear for our Halloween party. It's color and consistency create spooky fun in the imaginations of children.<br/>
