{Casey's challenge}

My friend Casey was gifted this super cute, striped dress from Element by a mutual friend Kristi. Casey came to me for some suggestions on how to wear the dress. Because of the see-through nature of the dress and length, I recommend pairing black leggings or tights with the dress. Try on some tall, brown riding boots, ballet flats, or brown sandals (once the weather warms up). My favorite part of this solution is pairing the stripes with a denim jacket. A cream, long cardigan will look cute as well. A skinny belt with the dress will also bring some definition to the waist if the dress is too loose. Hope that helps, Casey! --JdB

{THURSDAY}

Right now is absolutely boot weather in So Cal! I find brown boots to be more versatile than black boots. Interestingly enough, I know that I wear my brown boots more than my black boots.

The jeans I'm wearing here are from Forever 21 and are really soft and thin. These are perfect for pairing with boots because they are not bulky like traditional denim. I have some Joe's Jeans jeggings that I love but they have no pockets!...so this lightweight pair works great. Also, hot pink always looks great with navy. My top is a striped navy top.

Oh by the way! This was a 4 day work week so our normal "casual Friday" was given to us on Thursday. Yay!

This yellow toggle coat is one of new favorite coats at the moment! I have always wanted a toggle coat but my most favorite detail of the coat is the polka dot lining on the inside! Living in Southern California does not afford me the opportunity to wear coats too many times in a given year but it was very cold today.

I used to be better about matching my bag with my shoes. These days I usually use a bag for a few weeks/months then switch it out unless I'm forced to use a different type of bag. I vow to switch it up more! What are your bag habits?? Comment below!

When we adopted Franny into our lives, we knew she was born sometime in February. She was the tiniest thing at 5 weeks old! To make it fun and more memorable, we decided that Feb 14 was her birthday so today we are celebrating our pup's 7th birthday. Happy Birthday Franny!

It was so dreary out today that I really wanted a punch of color. Originally, I wanted to do more of a monochromatic look today but it didn't feel right. I pulled this old sweater out and it achieved what I wanted perfectly! Add color to your day!...esp when it's overcast and cold!

Happy Monday Editors!

I have "edited" my closet so finely over the last few years that--unless I'm feeling splurgy--I really need to be inspired to spend money on clothes these days, especially with my budget. For someone who loves to shop, this can be a bit of a conundrum. Soooooo my solution is to shift my focus to areas of my wardrobe that have been overlooked...i.e. sleepwear then possibly active wear.

Saturday was retail therapy afternoon at Nordstrom Rack and I found this! Just because you're sleeping doesn't mean you shouldn't still look fashionable. :)

{SUPER BOWL SUNDAY}

Love peasant tops! Here is one of the pieces I picked up at H&M. I love the red trim against the navy. In hindsight, I think black jeans would've paired better with this top. Also, AdB said these jeans don't really fit me well anymore, too loose...not a bad problem to have.

Pendleton is a classic American brand. They have great flannels and blankets, among other things as seen below! Did you know that The Beach Boys wore Pendleton? California Design @ LACMA

Living in a midcentury ranch required me to check out the California Design exhibition at LACMA (part of the larger Pacific Standard Time collaboration of cultural institutions across Southern California.) It was again very inspiring and tugged at the creative strings within me. What an experience to see actual Eames furniture, a portion of the Eames home, and Eichler floor plans in person! Even the audio/visual stations had earphones which were nostalgic of that era. Me, AdB, and some friends also happened to stumble upon Metropolis! See pics below.

Hello "Editors!"

Today is the start of my very own process of "editing!" I'm very excited to share this experience will all of you. I hope that you gain some knowledge and notable tips for styling and editing yourself.

I think this is a good way to wear brown and black. The black makes the pink and camel colors pop. My professional dress code is Business Casual but I like to have lots of fun with it.
