Tax season has officially started- so what are you doing to prepare yourself? When I was first married, I spent a lot of time researching the best places to go to file my taxes. Living in a small community, there are not many options and to be completely honest, I was too terrified to do my own taxes. Here I am, almost five years later, researching again. Why? Our finances are not what they once were. We are down to one income, two children and wanting to get back every possible dollar- just like millions of other individuals.

Here are some tax deduction reminders:
First-Time Home buyers Credit: First-time buyers should begin planning now to take advantage of this new tax credit available for a limited time. The credit applies to primary home purchases between April 9, 2008, and June 30, 2009. Normally, this tax credit must be paid back in equal payments over 15 years. The credit is 10 percent of the purchase price of the home, with a maximum available credit of $7,500 for either a single taxpayer or a married couple filing jointly. You are considered a first-time buyer if you have not owned a home in the three years prior to purchase.

Real Estate Tax Deduction: There is an additional standard deduction for those who don’t itemize their deductions, but pay real estate taxes. The additional deduction amount is equal to the amount of real estate taxes paid up to $500 for single filers or up to $1,000 for joint filers.

Tuition and Fees Deduction: You may be able to deduct qualified tuition and required enrollment fees up to $4,000 that you pay for yourself, your spouse or a dependent. You do not have to itemize to take this deduction. However, a taxpayer cannot take both the tuition and fees deduction and education credits (Hope & Lifetime Learning Credits) for the same student in the same year. For more information about this deduction, refer to IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education.

Educators’ Out of Pocket Expense Deduction: This deduction allows teachers and other educators to deduct the cost of books, supplies, equipment and software used in classrooms. Eligible educators include those working at least 900 hours during a school year as a teacher, instructor, counselor, principal or aide in public/private elementary or secondary schools. The deduction is worth up to $250 and available whether or not the educator itemizes deductions.

Recovery Rebate Credit: Remember the stimulus checks sent out in 2008? Well, if you did not qualify or receive the maximum amount for the 2008 economic stimulus payment, you might be entitled to a recovery rebate credit when you file your 2008 tax return. If you visit the IRS website, the Recovery Rebate Credit Calculator can help you figure out the amount you should claim on your 2008 tax return. Be sure to review the instructions, including the recovery rebate credit worksheet. You’ll need to know how much your stimulus payment was.

There is a lot to say when it comes about finding things that are kid friendly. What is really great is if you are in the uk, or are traveling they have this amazing site which will help you plan your vacation all the better. I have a book called Rough Guides traveling with Babies which helped me a little bit but for those who don’t have that and like to have family vacations having someone else do all the extra research for you really does help save a lot of time!

I know I love when people do all my work for me even though it doesn’t always work out that way and I end up having to re-do or remind, or just do it myself by the end of the day. Child Friendly is an amazing site which offers things like FREE getaways, lists of family friendly pubs, restaurants, hotels, parks and so much more! I mean seriously.

They also for those who live the high-life have luxury travel options. I just did a quick random search in the Cayman Islands and found that the Ritz-Carlton would be my best choice for family friendly stay. However, I did wish the site would give you more suggestions once you pick a hotel but it just directed me to a third-party website for more information. A little let down but the overall fact was the site was more helpful then not.

One of the biggest problems many women have in their every day lives that could be making it harder to conceive is stress.

If you are a woman who is easily agitated or who has a short fuse when it comes to anger, those attributes could very well be hindering your ability to become pregnant. There are many different ways to lower the amount of stress in your life and while this may seem like a truly challenging task, it just may be exactly what your mind and body needs to get ready for pregnancy!

Some of the ways to help eliminate the stress in your life are essential oils or aromatherapy; there are many essential oils and herbs that have been proven to be excellent stress relievers. If you cannot find essential oils, aromatherapy bath salts, soaps, body washes, salves, butters and lotions are readily available at nearly any store and are definitely worth looking into.

Other kids, significant other, grandparents, pets, etc. If it’s the people (and pets) you love who you realize are boosting that stress level, try taking a few hours of your day, every day, and spend them doing what you want to do. Taking some time for yourself is one of the best things that anyone can do and while you may be thinking to yourself “But I have job! Responsibilities! Other kids to take care of! A husband who doesn’t know how to put the toilet paper on the roll!” By taking those few hours out of your day, you can sit back and relax and keep in mind that your problems will still be there when you get back, but your stress won’t be!

Tea is another great supplement to give your body in order for you to relax and unwind. Tea contains antioxidants and not only is it delicious, but it is also used a stress reliever, especially when sipped over time before bed.

You will probably think of others that will undoubtedly help lower your stress level over time, but these are some basics to get you started. If you have found other stress relievers that have worked for you, share them with us in the comments!

Figuring out what credit card is right for you is a very important and sometimes time consuming decision. Are you a frequent buyer? Do you always pay your card off as soon as you receive the bill?

Credit cards can definitely be tricky, especially since you really have to trust yourself to either pay your bill as soon as it comes as not to get stuck in paying interest for the next 10 years or to not use it as much as you may be tempted to. There are a variety of different cards that companies offer–So what’s the difference?

No annual fee credit cards are the absolute best option for people who use their card sparingly or in case of an emergency only. No annual fee credit cards do not charge you to carry the card and only charge you for what you purchase using the card. If you are currently building your credit or are repairing your credit, this type of card is ideal for you because it lets you use the card when you need to and pay it off immediately with no other fees getting in the way and getting you into debt.

If you are currently trying to get out of debt and have a few cards that you are currently carrying debt on, the best option to consider is to consolidate the debt you are carrying on all of your cards and put them onto one, low or no interest card. This is called a balance transfer credit card and this option makes paying off all of your debt easier, with having one bill instead of three or four and most cards as incentive to go with their card rather than the other companies, will give their new customers a 0% interest rate for up to a year, making all of those additional interest rates you are usually hit with disappear so you can focus on your initial debt.

Education is one of the most important things to have right now and one of the most influential universities in Jerusalem is the University Technology Transfer of Yissum.

Yissum is a Technology Transfer that has granted more than 400 technology licenses in the past 40 years and have a past of highly successful products that generate over $1 billion each and every single year worldwide, which is an achievement for any business, no less an education institution.

The work done in Yissum fully supports and encourages their research, development and education and they are completely dedicated to putting their research into the hands of the public where they can benefit from it. The education they provide to their students is top notch and by being a student there, you are guaranteed an excellent career that will put you at the top.

They got their start in technology transfer services in 1964 and has since been protecting, promoting, managing, and commercializing intellectual property and through their successful years, they currently have over 3,800 research projects in progress with around 1,400 senior faculty members and over 100 laboratories and research centers.

If you are in that area, an education at Yissum is a must.

Summer not only marks the time for vacation, it is also the season for concerts!

As a long-time concert-lover, I know first hand the amount of money that goes in to purchasing concert tickets, especially if you’re purchasing them through a company and you’re immediately smacked with processing fees and other charges that they sneak in there and hope you don’t realize the fact that they are blatantly ripping you off. Before you know it, a couple concert tickets are costing you an arm, a leg and a spleen. Don’t you wish that there was an easier and cheaper way for you to get the tickets you want? Well now there is.

Viagogo is an efficient and secure online ticket exchange in the UK that brings ticket buyers and sellers together, giving you the luxury of being able to shop around for tickets and buy them at the most affordable price. They offer a safe way for you to get the tickets that you are looking for, whether they be concert tickets, festival tickets, or even sports tickets. Whatever you are looking for, Viagogo is there for you; they also offer full ticket tracking, managed logistics and live customer service support.

One of the biggest tours out there now is Madonna. A pop icon with nearly 3 decades in the entertainment industry and an alarming amount of great hits, getting Madonna tickets will most definitely pose as a problem for her next tour taking into account the amount of fans that this icon has accumulated over the past 3 decades.

So what’s a fan to do when trying to get these Madonna tickets, especially since as soon as they go on sale, a person has a half hour window before they are all sold out? You can go to your ticket purchasing website of choice and refresh continuously for minutes before the tickets go on sale and hope that you click the purchase button in time before the masses of people looking for these tickets do. You can wait in line for hours, or in some cases, even days before tickets go on sale and hope that you got there in time before tickets are sold out. You could even pay someone to do the dirty work of waiting in line for you and hope that person comes through with your tickets. You can do what a lot of concert goers do and hope that there are scalpers outside of the concert venue the day of the show; but if you’re driving a far distance to get to the venue and your reliance on a scalper being outside with extremely over-priced tickets doesn’t pan out in your favor, you’ve just wasted a considerable amount of gas money, time, effort and driving back to your home will undoubtedly waste an entire day for nothing.

Your best bet is to sign up for Viagogo and snatch Madonna tickets up before anyone else does; or get the tickets of your choice for any concert this summer.

With the recent hype of going green and saving the environment, the environment isn’t the only thing suffering right now; people are beginning to notice declines in their health earlier in life and children and adolescents are growing at a much more alarming rate than people were just a few decades ago. The reason for this is that farmers and food companies are simply taking the easy route when selling their products to consumers and more often than not, the food that you are consuming and feeding to your families is poor quality and contains more harmful chemicals than ever before.

While buying organic may be a bit more expensive than what you are used to spending, there are many reasons to make the switch to organic meats and produce.

Organic farming is completely unlike conventional farming. Organic farmers do not use pesticides and cut out all chemicals that are used in conventional farming; because of this, organic produce is free of harsh chemicals and pesticides that could potentially contaminate our drinking water. Organic farmers also use all-natural compost materials which results in food with far more nutrients and rid of what could potentially harm your body.

Organically raised animals are not fed growth hormones that then, when consumed, go straight into your body. Growth hormones are the reason why so many children are physically growing faster than they were a few decades ago; growth hormones are used to make livestock grow bigger, faster, if you then consume that animal, the growth hormones are still intact in the meat and that is not safe for people to consume. Cows that are not raised organically are often fed remains of other cows; this is what spreads mad cow disease and it is also to blame for the health of people diminishing. These animals are also free to roam in a happy, natural atmosphere instead of being confined to small cages their entire lives; they are not killed for selling purposes; they are treated more like pets to organic farmers.

Best of all, organic food tastes a whole lot better than food that is commercially farmed. I personally have experienced this first hand. My boyfriend loves this specific brand of milk and once I bought it for the house, I looked at the label and it said that it had no artificial ingredients or growth hormones and organic food is a completely different experience.

While it may cost a bit more, buying organically is a completely different experience and quite a bit healthier than non-organically raised and farm food.

With summer just around the corner, I thought I would talk a little more about vacations and the types of vacations that are available for families to have a relaxing, fun and exciting time together.

While most families visit amusement parks, beaches and family members that live states away, I was thinking about really fun and exciting vacations that families could take that aren’t so run of the mill and always prove to be a fabulous time. Cruises, while they may seem extravagant or a trip people take mostly to celebrate their honeymoon or anniversary, make really get family vacations as well–And there are a variety of different cruises that are available for you to choose from.

Cruise Vacation Center has been making people’s getaways the best that they can be for the past 15 years.
