I am writing to let you all know about what we are doing, hopeful that you will join us!

Everton plays Bolton in the late morning of Saturday the 20th March, then that evening the RedBulls NY play Brasilian side Santos to serve as the Grand Opening of their beautiful new stadium. Red Bull has several festivities planned for this event. As a group we will depart Mr. Dennehy's at 4pm to take a bus out to the grounds to enjoy a live game and then return to the bar after the game. Estimate getting back to Mr. D's around 10-10:30 (giving us an hour to get out of the stadium and then an hour or so to battle parking lot traffic etc).

The Haiti disaster was a big factor in our decision to try and make it a day out for charity. Current Red Bull Seth Stammler leads the sportingchancefoundation.org, an organization dedicated to improving lives of those in Haiti. American International and former Red Bull Jozy Altidore, proud of his Haitian heritage, is also a longtime supporter of Sporting Chance. We hope to raise funds for this cause to help better the lives of those that have survived the devastation and must find a way to go on in their home country.

The purpose of Everton USA NY putting this together:
1). We are a large group of friends and fans that enjoy each others company.
2). We enjoy soccer in all forms and want to promote our club, Everton FC, as well as promote our local team, RBNY. (We WILL have an Everton USA banner with us, and hope you ALL wear your royal blue!)
3). The easier it is for people to help out, and the less we have to think about it, the more likely we are to donate. If we get an enjoyable day out as part of the bargain, all the better for us!

Tickets may be purchased at Mr. Dennehy's for $50 per person and everyone - regardless of the team they support - is welcome while spaces last! This will be a family friendly event but we do plan to have some sort of complimentary beverage for you on the bus!!! There is also talk of a raffle... more to come on this!

So, send me an email to reserve a spot. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring your generosity (Extra donations always welcome ;)), and let's have some fun.

Yours,
Alexa
alexa.dunne@gmail.com
C.O.Y.B.

Man City Jan 16th

Live at 12:30pm this Saturday.

Be There. :)

Everton v. Be there, or be a loser... ;)

Maybe we'll see Distin get a nod in defense, and Yak get subbed in late. This Sunday, Aug. 23rd, the game will be shown on a same day tape delay at 6pm. I'm pretty sure at least a couple of our group will show up to Mr. D's for a few drinks, some good conversation and an interesting match. It will be interesting to see if we have finally secured Ever Banega for a season loan. His work permit was approved. I don't know about you, but I will certainly be happy to have a young skilled winger added to our squad.

Please PLEASE note that most of us have a habit of avoiding all possible ways of learning the score on these stupid delay-days. Helps us enjoy the match a bit more :) If you happen to know the score, keep it to yourself. I'd also suggest you keep the fact that you know to yourself... Who would show up to watch a game we already lost? I want anyone who visits NYC to be able to find us and come down to Dennehy's for the match.

Everton USA (which I hope many of you have heard about!) is organizing official chapters in several cities. I was one of the first supporters of Sara when she took over the former EFCSCNA and changed it around to EUSA. I told her over and over about our wonderful LARGE group here in NYC. As a result she sends any and all NYC related questions my way or tells them about our group - directing people to this site. It's very nice to have such camaraderie, a direct link to the club (EUSA is an officially recognized supporters group by EFC), and a way to constantly promote our group to NYC based Blue-bloods.

One of the major ways these days to get any and all information out to large masses is facebook. So, here is an EFC NYC fb group: http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=114864503371&view=all#/group.php?gid=114864503371

As a final note, there's no requirement for anyone to join EUSA (though the benefits this year for me were wonderful - free Goodison tour, game ticket included for Everton USA day etc, and many new friends) and I'm not trying to make anyone. On the opposite end, there's no need to snub EUSA just because EFC NYC has been around so long. I think both can co-exist very very nicely and honestly: Blue is Blue. The more exposure we have, the more friends we will make.

3 1/2 days till kick off... COYB!

One Week To Go!

Hello NY,

long time not much seeing! I like it more than the home version this year.

In my final update, the Europa League (formerly UEFA) draw was yesterday and we drew a Czech team who apparently beat Aberdeen 8-1 on aggregate :( We play home Aug. 20 and away August 27.

This is going to be an interesting season for sure!

new Le Coq Sportif Everton 09/10 home shirt

The Leaving of Goodison

Class !

Everton @ Sunderland May 3rd, 11am

This match will be on live at Mr. Dennehy's, so drop by sunday morning, 11am, to watch with fellow Blues. Kick off is at 3pm Eastern, and it will be shown live at Mr. D's. Probably the biggest league game for us in that if we win, we knock 3 points off the gap between us and fifth. We lose and the gap gets much larger. Fellaini's back, Arteta is a maybe. Personally I'd like to see Arteta rested a bit more, if he has any doubt at all. The FA clash next week is more important to me than the league at this point.

Saturday is the rescheduled Man U (A) game, at 12:30 ET. Currently listed for a live showing on FSC, this should be another good time to visit Mr. D's, hang out, talk football and drink a few. General concensus from online blogs and such is that Man U has a lot of injuries and that we should have all players available that have been helping us in the last 2 months of great form, that our defense is solid and that we could really steal this game. I think it is misleading to infer Man U's injuries are a big problem for them. Their bench is a lot deeper than ours and Old Trafford isn't exactly a walk in the park. This game is the least of my worries from the next three. We aren't catching Man U, and it won't get us closer to some hardware...

Wednesday Feb 4th. The 3rd Merseyside Derby in under 3 weeks. This time we will be at home, kick off is scheduled for 3:10pm ET, showing live on Setanta. How glorious it would be to come out playing an attacking game with Arteta and Fellaini back in the squad, and to send Rafa back across the park to spew more hilarious comments about "small teams" and hypocritical "10 men behind the ball is horrible" tactics. Our defense has pretty much kept Liverpool at bay twice in 7 days. So long as we get no injuries or yellow cards, I see no problem keeping them at bay again. I want to win this game so badly, that the Arse and Man U games seem like insignificant annoyances getting in the way. A strange feeling for two matches that are bound to be exciting. If we win the Cup it would help our players, showing them they can do it, that being a "small team" doesn't necessarily mean something negative. It might just raise our clubs profile enough that we find our own new investor, and to top it all, We fans would love it.

Regardless of the outcomes, it should be a great time down at Dennehy's for all three of these games. Stop by, introduce yourself (if you haven't already) and enjoy the company of fellow Toffees!

Of note: Apparently 3 players are 1 Yellow away from a suspension. I can't find the article I read this in, but IIRC the slate is wiped clean at the end of February. I have a feeling that Liverpool especially will be going after certain plaers trying to get them carded. History shows that is one of their specialties...
