Can anyone help me, I have Windows XP home Service Pack 3, which I have recently upgraded and I don't know whether this prbolem relates to the same or not.

When I click on Add/Remove Components I get a Message,

Please wait, and then another message Setup was unable to open information file fp40ext.inf. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x2 at line 0. and then another message, The application could not be initialized.

I was just surfing the internet to look for an answer and luckily clicked the link

So, please help me because I have lost my wordpad, calculator, paint, and I have searched for .exe files in my system and I could not find them anywhere and I want to get them back via Add/Remove Components window, but it is not opening.

Guess what!!!! I have fixed it. Here is what I did just in case someone else is having the same problem. I ran a search on Sysoc.inf. The search showed up four files: 1 in Windows Service Pack Uninstallers and 1 in Windows\inf and 1 in Windows\ Service Pack 1386 files and the last one in Windows\Service Pack Cache i386. Some had the HIDE in them and some didn't so I changed the ones with HIDE in and took it out. And presto it worked, I guess they were conflicting with each other.

if I boot windows XP, the device receives some DTR signals during the
Windows XP logo screen.

• Imported the camcorder clips onto moviemaker and come up with message 'is not indexed and cannot be imported.
• Downloaded windows media file editor.
• Downloaded media player 11 - i have XP home edition.
• Opened file editor video clip within file editor - can see it say 'opening media' and then it just says 'stopped' after 1 second

Not sure what to do next

Any help would be smashing
