How about a Leap Day Photographic Project?

With my recent involvement in a charity photography project I was astounded by the willingness of many many people to give their work for something good.

In that project a printed book (and other digital versions) will be the end result, raising money for a charity called Kiva (www.kiva.org). In our project I hope for enough responces to possibly do the same, but for something(s) in our parish.

In the parish we are blessed to have a mix of pro’s, serious amateurs, hobbyists and many many of you out there with a camera built into their mobile phones – so there is very little excuse NOT to take part in this!

Lets document our day on the 29th of February in the context of a photograph.

The instructions:

1. On leap day (29th of February 2012) take some photos (or just one) of any subject you wish, it could be a landscape in the parish, a portrait of the mother-in-law, or a stack of paper in your inbox on your desk at work. Be as creative as you wish, just don’t take any nudes…

2. After the 29th, submit your photo (in jpg format) to editor@eglingham.info

3. Thats it! After that its all down to me to decide what to do with them all. The more we recieve the more we can do with them!

Wine Tasting – Part 2!

Wine tasting returns for a second night of fun to Eglingham parish – this time on the other side of the hill, in South Charlton Village Hall.

When? Friday 16th March – 7:30pm

Where? South Charlton Village Hall

Christmas Market and Social evening

Sunday 18th Dec from 2.00. A seasonally themed market in Eglingham Village Hall. There will be stalls selling homemade breads, handmade chocolates, sloe crafts, patchwork quilts & cushions, photography, sweet treats, country preserves, gingerbread houses, and more!. A chance to get some last minute treats for family, friends or even yourself! There will be tea coffee homemade scones and cakes on sale also. Then into the evening the Old Post Office bar will be open and there will be a Christmas Quiz, Carol Singers, mulled wine and cider and plenty of Christmas spirit.

EGLINGHAM VILLAGE HALL AUTUMN CLEAN

This SATURDAY, 12 November, the Village Hall will be treated to a special AUTUMN CLEAN!

Apart from tidying and cleaning jobs, inside and out, volunteers will be painting, and undertaking other odd jobs.

EVERYONE who is willing to help will be welcome, even if only for a short time! There is a lot to do!

Work starts at 10am, with a break for soup and rolls at lunch time.

Summer Stroll & Afternoon Tea

Saturday 16th July is the day to keep free in your diary. This sees the 4th annual Parish Walk. The format will be similar to last year; starting from Eglingham Village Hall a choice of 3 walks from 1/2 mile to 5 miles finishing back at the hall for a delicious home baked country afternoon tea. There will be a prize draw and a tombola as well. Register at the hall between 1.00 and 1.30, teas served from 2.30. £3.50 adults, £1.50 children (under 12)

Ceilidh with Pie & Pea Supper

Eglingham Village Hall is having a Ceilidh on Saturday 18th June from 7 till 11. Music is from a local band n.e.time and the ticket price (£10 adult; £2.50 under 14′s) includes the supper and a free first drink for the adults. Ceilidhs have always proved popular in the past in Eglingham and we expect this one to be as well so make sure you buy or pre-book your tickets. You can do

June issue of Hear Abouts

Welcome to the June edition of Hear Abouts, thankfully the penultimate one before we have a well deserved month’s break!
Apologies for the late arrival of this issue, but as I alluded to last month, summer gets busy and with long light evenings I’m not stuck behind a computer screen the 18
hours a day I am during the winter months. Never the less, we’ve got there in the end with another jam packed issue, some favorite features return after short and long breaks, and others continue to take writing breaks (hopefully dreaming up cracking articles for next month’s edition!) but I’ll do my best to badger them until they cave in under pressure and submit a new article.
