She is heartbroken angry and in terror.
She is also tired and pregnant and there is a lot of healing work to do with Jesus and no guaranty that he will stay alive and heal. All are resembled in the silent cave and all their power is badly needed.

So many vicious wounds, so much blood lost and for what? To prove his point..
His sacred mission and scarcely a thought of their new child in her belly let alone of her.

And even if he survives, what are they going to do? Where are they going to take refuge?
The Romans will be at his throat as soon as he starts his provocative sermons and healings again
Which he will, she knows he won't back off... ever.
No one promised her a rose garden, true but she had hoped for a bit more than just thorns

She looked at Joseph of Arimathea, his real father. Why hadn't Joseph told him who his father was. He might have listened better to his advice. Too late for that now. She saw the deep lines of grieve and anxiety in his troubled face. She felt for him... no father should have to see his son tortured and broken, just because he carries the Light of God.

The Romans and the Pharisees had clearly another opinion though.

...since I updated my scribble blog, but now I get in the mood again...

For a time I thought scribbling on my tablet was the thing to do, but although fun, nothing can replace pencil and penand paper, so today I bought myself a new fountain pen almost perfect for sketches, two blanco school cahiers, a good pencil and some kids colour pencils.

Sitting on the terrace of 'Red' one of the nicest eko cafe's I know I sipped my coffee and let my pen play. I almost forgot how... almost. Heidelberg is mellow, both the general mood and the weather. I'm here now for more than one week and it is time for slow travel again.

Tomorrow I'll be on my way bicycle trailer and all and I'm looking forward to it... but I'll miss Heidelberg, the most suave city I know, even surpassing my hometown Amsterdam.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen was closing and I mean closing... This is the period between seasons: summer season and winter ski fun. The inhabitants close their hotels, hostels, guesthouses, restaurants and even cafes. Some supermarkets and cafes stay open for the locals. Jan my Slovenian roommate spotted a 'Irish pub' where we had a few beers in the evening and where we enjoyed the Irish Bavarian mixed atmosphere. Next morning I was on the road after a free breakfast offered by the friendly hostel lady, off to Seefeld. Some snow had fallen that night, but nothing to be concerned of and the Alps were smiling down at me

When I arrived in Seefeld, there was a lot more crispy snow and as it was getting dark the road began to be slippery and treacherous. I had to find a place to camp. No hostels and frankly I was in for a bit of rough camping... Well it got rough.

I found a camping site that pretended to be open but no one was at the reception and all facilities were locked. So I just took it as a luxury wild camping spot, put up my tent even cooked a soup and tucked in. That night the temperature dropped to minus eight celsius and I was thirsty as my drinking water had frozen in the bottle. My feet stayed icy and I didn't get a lot of sleep.

The next morning was cloudless and the sun warmed me quickly. Lack of sleep made me a bit sluggish but on my way to Innsbruck I quickly discovered a terrace in the sun with excellent Italian espresso. I needed three to get me going again ((-:[=

First of three...

I had some difficulty with my GPS and made a detour of 20 km. No big deal as the last bit was a breeze going through the Inns valley next to the river and a beautiful bike road it was too. In Innsbruck I recognised the Altstadt and the congress centre where I had been eight years ago. Good to be in this friendly city, I found a cute little hostel above cafe Mundig in the Schloss strasse where I took a day off to stroll around a bit in town and cook a nice pasta. Tomorrow it's back west along the Inns to Landeck one step back as it were,Then I'll head south to Malles Verosta in Italian Tyrol and from there go east to Merano. No way I could take the Brenner or any shortcut, I'll have to make a bit of a detour. No matter, the weather forecast is splendid, not too much snow and with a bit of luck I'll have a couch surfing host in Landeck!

Cosy hobbits here in Tyrol ...

The background picture is A clamp for an extinguisher lying on the floor. I thought it had an uncanny resemblance with 'Skrik' from Edvard Munch.

It is also symbolic for the panic blabbering politicians and economists instill in the masses by warning that 'our' economy stagnates and that we must suffer austerity measures to get it growing wildly again.
In the real world, that is Nature, the only equivalent of such a process is cancer in all its forms.
All other organisms grow till they reach their optimum (not maximum!) size, after which they start to reproduce. ( prof. Bob Goudswaard and Diane Coyle wrote about the economy of enough )
For now though the prevalent mood is more of the same: the wild goose chase of indefinite growth... long live the cancer!

For almost two years this 'mibble' from my blog lay dormant in my YT channel. Then all of a sudden it started to get views... Never gave it another thought till I stumbled upon it again while uploading another video for my QR code gig in Fiverr.com

To my surprise I saw it was the best viewed video in my channel and when I clicked on the statistics it was still rising sharply... why? Never did any back linking, didn't optimise my description or any other SEO-hocus pocus... maybe just the link juice of this blog did it, which gets a lot of views. Can't think of another reason, especially as it gets a lot of thumbs down and just two up ((-:[=

Just finished the kindle-book cover for Eleonora Paauwes' book 'Nijntje in gedachte' ( 'Thinking of Miffy' ) A lighthearted series of reflections and analysis of the contemporary society, in particular the Dutch as Miffy was created by a Dutch artist (Dick Bruna).
Now I still have to finish the formating of the manuscript and then it is ready for uploading on KDP (Kindle Digital Publishing). Exciting ((-:[= stuff..

Sometimes I turn to "Illustration Friday" for inspiration to scribble a bit. The theme of this week is "Afterwards". Last night I watched a documentary about the first worldwar. The battle at the Somme struck me hard. Ofcourse I had heard of the indescribable suffering destruction mutulation and disease, but seeing it on real original filmed images was overwhelming. The deep scarring of men landscape trees plants animals was almost too much to comprehend. Some of the utter devastation and the vulnerability of life must have crept into this scribble.

Charming little chaps those moles! Among other things I do some game coaching mainly with friends who own 'The FlowFactory' One of the games is a gps rally on foot. Several teams compete and in every team there is a 'mole', not the little furry animal, but a spy, secretely obstructing their team.
Naturally I got to know a little more about the secret life and attributes of the furry mole as well. One factoid that always fascinates me is that their fur has no special growing direction as with all the other animals including us. This helps them in moving through their tunells backwards as easily as forwards. If you ever find a dead mole you can verify this yourself. I advise against handling a living mole, unless you're wearing thick gloves, they have a fierce bite.. Their saliva is poisonous, but only for invertabrae, so stay human and you'll be save (-:/=

Another oldie as I can't use my scanner right now. In the eighties I made a series of cartoons for a newsletter about optical components. A large percentage of the customers were scientists in research lab's The dutch text says; "I heard you're not to enthousiastic about your budget"

OK an oldie again, one of the angry young man cartoons, world in flames and powerlust rules. Not much changed in the meantime, will we ever get it right? I hope so, here in Holland the elections will be in one week. The bigots seem to be popular in the polls... On the other hand Holland is the only country in the world with a party in paliament defending the rights of animals,so there is still hope, we will see....

Saw the topic on 'Illustration Friday' for this week is: 'Slither', so I let my imagination wander a bit.. slimy business, definitely inspired by the snail gatherings I have reguraly in my little country cottage. On Crete I bought a handy 'salad-grabber' that I now use to pick them up and throw them out of my kitchen window, don't want to harm them, but I also won't have them slithering over my salad or fruits!

I used to do a lot of drawing for friends for free. One friend got this poster for her handicraft shop. Only the top part of it is showing, (my scanner can't handle A3 (-:) As a thank you she gave me the little gnome, she made him herself, and I still have him, be it that he lost his hat in all the removals. Below you have a actual picture of him, well and alive, be it a bit older battered and definitely wiser..

Come to think of it I don't even know his name... if you happen to know his name tell me and write a comment (-:/=

Just for the fun of it some more youth sins scanned for my blog. This peeing little man is definitely from my angry young man period, and what is better than to discharge waste fluids into the sleeve of Big Brother, even if you could be crushed at any moment.. The year is 1968, student revolts everywhere and no respect for authority. Fourtytwo years later I'm still angry but I now have respect for real authority, so I learned at least something (-; The difference between real and fake authority? The first is loving, the latter powerlusty. The technique I used is mimeography, obsolete by now, but back then the way of printing cheap loads of subversive material..

Way back then, my best pal had a very successful company called 'Fairlight' dealing in lasers and optical components. Just googled it and nowadays i's some sort of lighting company, my friend is out of business and living the good life (-: As I was interested in technical stuff myself I had some understanding of the products and processes. I was very honoured when he asked me to make a few cartoons for his newsletter . This is one is joking with the hologram and a quite ferocious mouse.

I found this sketch of a water pumping station in Rotterdam, long vanished by now. Always strange to see a picture of a landscape that once was but has vanished for ever. Linear time is a bitch, and then you die. Would there be a time and a place where it still exists?
