I am via Vegas in t-minus 7 hours. Packing for business trips is getting easier and lighter with a cost. I find myself hoarding all sorts of little bottles, vials, and jars so I can shove as many of my toiletries in them. The travel size aisles at Target and Bed Bath & Beyond bring me excitement…except now my purses and carry ons are filled with unnecessary necessaries. Wrinkle remover sprays, a whole dental hygiene kit, mini tissues, wet wipes, 3 different mini lotions, hairspray…wtf I rarely use hairspray!

My habit overflows to how I pack my clothes and tech. I used to need a carry on for just my shoes and jewelry, but now I rarely bring more than 3 pairs: a heel, a flat, and a boot…and some flippies for the hotel room. This time, I am bringing less outfits than the days I'm staying to attempt some mix and matching (!!). I've always had this weird fear (or excuse) that I need to bring more clothes because the weather will go horribly wrong. Then I replay a crazy freak accident where someone drives through a puddle and soaks me in the middle of a sidewalk so I'm left having to change twice in one day. That is normally my reasoning. My tech load has also gone from DSLR+Macbook to iPhone camera+iPad. The iPad is a traveler's dream and an online shopper's worst pet so getting this toy has basically turned me into a happy, occupied, broke airplane buddy.

Goodbye Zoe

Today I will be going to our vet to give peace to our toy poodle Zoe. She's been such a wonderful companion for the past 10 years and we're thankful for all the memories and love that she's given us. It's so sad to let her go, but watching her go through pain is so hard on the family. Her health has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs; sometimes she would have horrible coughing spells, vomiting, uncontrollable bladder, and no appetite but then be OK for a couple of weeks. Now she just seems to be getting worse and we can't keep giving her pain medication to alleviate her suffering. It's going to feel very empty in our house for a while, but we'll always remember her and reminisce on the special attributes that we loved about her:

Zoe looooves fruit, especially bananas and watermelon.

She used to enjoy walks but as a grandma she's a total couch potato.

She loves watching TV with her arm perched on the arm rest,

and her favorite shows are Housewives of Beverly Hills and Iron Chef.

She loves being photographed and often poses whenever I start shooting.

She has a love-hate relationship with her little sister Sasha Bella because Sasha yaps and bothers her, but Zoe secretly likes the attention.

Zoe would never bite or harm anyone. But she does get upset if someone tries to hurt her family.

We have a second door bell because she barks until we go downstairs if someone is at the door.

She has lived in two homes with us and saw my sister grow from 3 and a half feet to 5'8.

She broke her right arm...twice. A yellow cast and a pink cast. And my mom wouldn't let ANYONE sign it.

Did you know that toy poodles are the smartest dogs of its size?

That's why they were often bred as circus dogs.

Zoe is very intelligent and knows many tricks.

My favorite is when I say "Bang Bang!" and she falls to her side with her legs straight out. She doesn't budge until I give her the treat.

Bad hair don't care! When I took her for her last haircut a couple weeks ago, I was angry on the drive home because she looked like a bobble head with a shaved little body. I don't think it got to her.

In less than an hour Zoe will be in a better place where she can do all these things she used to enjoy. Rest in Peace.

I cut my hair! (a month ago)

As mentioned in my previous post...I cut my hair! On January 1st I woke up with an insatiable urge to chop it all off. My dad has been going to Marc Jung who recently moved to the new Loxy Salon in Irvine with great things to say about him, so I felt at peace with entrusting him with this irreversible, compulsive request. Thank God he was open during holiday because I don't know if I would have followed through if I had to reschedule. Less than 3 hours after the call, my hair was 12-15 inches shorter, lighter, healthier, and so much better. My sister came along and got a trim too, which she clearly enjoyed as you can tell from the picture above.

There are fleeting moments where I miss having long hair...like when there's a cold breeze or every time Kim Kardashian swishes her luxurious locks on a Kim and Kourtney Take New York commercial, but every other living breathing moment, GOD I love my short hair. It air dries in 15 minutes and styling consists of spritzing Sally Hershberger's Shagg spray.

I told Marc that I wanted something edgy, but that it must be VERY low maintenance, proceeded with two iphone pics. Yes, my haircut was a lovechild of Ashley Olsen and The Haute Pursuit blogger Vanessa Hong's bobs. Marc and I opted for a blunt a-line that was long enough in the front to flatter my face and let me tie it up and end at the nape of my neck. If you've ever considered cutting your hair but you're hesitant, just go for it! The best thing to do is talk to your hair stylist about your concerns and lifestyle to help him or her customize the right length for you.

P.S.!!! Those horrible roots are gone now. Just thought I'd share because they look so repulsive. :D

Random Inspiration Board

I was going through my computer and found these pictures that I'd accumulated. I guess I'm going through a vintage glamour moment because I'm drawn to rich hues of navy, dark burgundy, mustard, and emerald mixed with muted silvers and golds. But on the contrary I'm obsessed with modern and minimalistic shapes. I'm waiting for an opportunity to wear my silver velvet Alexander Wang maxi, maybe downplay its seriousness with a neon chartreuse knit sweater. This obsession to simpleness might come naturally with my mood. There are so many complicated things going on in a flurry among work, relationships, etc that I'd prefer all other things to be...simple. I got black Zara heels last week that were obviously inspired from Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang. I like that it doesn't have a platform and how it hugs my ankles at the thinnest area, one of my favorite features on my body next to my huge ol ass.

T-Ties

I saw her necklaces by Jennifer Fisher and reminisced back to my beloved T-Ties that Adam Scott gave me as a forget-me-knot. I met him at the last Accessories Show in New York where we bonded over the love of monochromatic clothing with POC (Pops Of Color --thank you Brad Goreski for creating this ABBRV!), ombre hair/clothes/bags/everything, and his experiences teaching fashion courses at Parsons while designing this line on the side. Apparently, the luster that ombre brings me is overkill for Scott--all of his students were just as obsessed; ombre has worn its welcome in his gradebook. Oh speaking of ombre, look at the ombre photo I found on Stop It Right Now that I posted at the bottom. And while you're at it you should check out her blog! She posts great photos, something I definitely need to work on. ughhhh ...I think I just skipped 3 topics...but it's Monday so I'm going to use that as an excuse.

Fuck it I should have tried this before I dyed my blonde hair darker and chopped off 15 inches. Oooohhh I didn't tell you yet! I cut off all my hair. :) Photos lata playa, Intelligentsia & Friends are waiting for me.

My mom and I spent New Years Day doing the usual, walking around Fashion Island and getting our coffees and scone at Pain Du Monde. This time, we even tried the chicken tortilla soup because it was that awkward hour where it's way past lunch but too early for dinner and we were so hungry. Oh man, there are chunks of avocado in there with some rich, thickly grated slices of gooey melting mozzarella cheese and crunchy tortilla bits on top of a bisque-like broth that has a spicy kick in it. It was perfect.

Those are some of my favorite days.

I totally suck, I've been keeping these giveaway items to myself per say, more like, hung on my door to admire/remind me I need to post the giveaway, because it has taken me forever and a half! But I swear it's with good reason. This month was quite cray CRAY.

Our dress up pieces? Spring 2012 Givenchy sweaters covered in sorbet tinted sequins, Nicholas Kirkwood stilletos, a creme chiffon Galliano gown that would only zip three quarters up my side...Ugh, reality check.

Anyway, back to my main objective of this post:

This food and styling post is long overdue, yet just in time because we just got the final photos today!

My sister and I were craving traditional Korean soups to warm us up after a long day of shooting so we headed over to Surah in Buena Park. Danielle had just gotten some shots done by Michelle Kim, a great photographer and friend whom I've worked with multiple times for school, work, and play. :) I put together some looks, Robyn made Danielle's hair and face flawless, and Michelle jazzed up her *UBER* cool apartment (overlooking the beach!!) into a studio. Can you guess which photo was being taken while Danielle was rockin out to "Whip My Hair"?

Mike likes to give me a hard time for my lack of an adventurous spirit when it comes to choosing a restaurant. It's not that I won't try new things, I just always crave the exact same thing. Creature of habit, I suppose...

Anyway, one day Mike proceeded to talk crap so I went on Yelp and GPS'ed the nearest Thai restaurant on the way back home. It took us to Tasty Thai in Lake Forest. The food was clean, nicely presented, and delicious! The massaman curry was my favorite, but buyer beware it is a VERY small portion. The pad thai was made with an unconventionally thin and chewy noodle and had more of a korean pepper paste flavor than a peanut flavor--it almost didn't taste like pad thai at all-- but I liked the originality about the flavors in that dish.
