Ce que l'on désigne par musique est depuis de très longues années associé à un rite pour de nombreuses cultures. À un moment déterminé, ces rites amènent l'auditeur, comme le musicien à rentrer dans un processus transcendantal, de l'extase à la possession, le corps et l'âme sont dissociés durant cet instant atemporel. Ainsi le rôle de la musique dans la vie sociale et rituelle tant dans les cultures tribales africaines que dans la culture techno ne me parait pas si éloigné.

Pourtant à l'heure policée dans laquelle nous vivons, emmitouflés dans nos intimistes petits salons parisiens, la musique n'est souvent qu'un accessoire banalisé, un prétexte pour dissimuler dans l'hébètement une vie timide et silencieuse.

Township Nation tente, en toute humilité, une approche de la musique moderne comme rituel de soustraction à notre triste apathie des sens : basses épaisses, mélodies naïves, rythmiques tranchantes, sons étranges, clameurs hypnotiques et chauffeurs de salle à la voix rauque, savant mélange pour chatouiller nos pores obstrués.
