Famous Historical Places Part 2 - Odd Blocks at Karnak

I choose to write this in connection with the Sphinx Temple, because I think the construction seem very similar. But I will let You be the judge of that.

Karnak is surely another famous historical place, especially to the ancient Egyptians.

Since I worked as a guide, even in Karnak, I know the regular guide story by heart. I can easily retrace the path that we would take through the temples of Karnak.

So the last couple of times that I visited Egypt, I very purposely took a different path. Instead of following the pharaohs line, I followed a mixture of astronomy and gods and goddess connections, and it was on this path that I saw them...

some spectacular over sized granite blocks, even their placement seemed rather odd, yet very clever. They are hidden in the open, only being covered by a strangle angle, which might make us overlook them...

Gigantic Granite Block

The block shown on this picture, looks bigger than the blocks used on the sphinx temple, and they are surely much heavier, because of the granite material used.

The wholes in the block leads me to believe that it most likely belong to the roof section, which has been lost for many centuries.

The wholes is actually something we still use today, when we construct buildings, known as wall ties (danish: Murbindere). They are used to hold the slabs together, this alone should make you reconsider some things in regards to our modern sciences...

I know this because I am educated in what is known as Building and Construction (I did the technical drawings of buildings or houses).

This slab also reminded me of the ceiling blocks used in the Kings chamber inside the Great Pyramid at Giza.

The Odd Angles

One thing that has baffled most Egyptologists surrounding the Sphinx Temple, was the odd shapes that the blocks have.

It would be much easier to create the temple with regular square blocks, like normally done, so why use these very odd angles and shapes?

There are also many people that think the Sphinx temple is the only construction with these odd shaped blocks,

imagen my surprise then, when I stumbled upon these blocks...

I feel like I have to tell you the story that lead me to these magnificent construction blocks, because somehow I feel like the journey is as important as what the journey brings.

When I am in Egypt, my mind swifts to being completely spiritual in what it perceives. This little story will give you a peek into that part of my mind.

When I am there I am completely absorbed by the universe itself, it is as if all people and everything modern completely evaporates from my mind...

Back to Karnak and the journey...

So there I was sitting on the balcony in the hotel at night, Orion was at one side, and Sirius was at the other side. The city lights reflected in the Nile water, and I was enchanted by the present of what once was...

The Moon seemed further away than the star and constellation, which it off course isn't. And yet it looked like that.

I was there looking for something... I have no idea of what.. but there is something nagging at me... something...

The only thing I knew, was that I wanted to change the way that I saw the temples at Karnak, I was tired of the pharaohs stories, and I was wondering what if?

What if they built the temples in a certain pattern, with a purpose more visible than we might perceive right now... what if... there was a path of the stars themselves, present in the path among the temples? What if?...

I had printed satellite pictures of the entire area of all the temples at Karnak, as well as further out in each directions. It did not take me that long to see a pattern in the temples.

I found myself following the Moons path, to where the 12 moon calendars once stood. I also knew that I was treading in the footsteps of the ancient family line of Tuthmosis and Hatshepsut.

I have never seen a guide tour in this area of the temple complex, which I find rather peculiar.

It was on this path that I found these remarkable and gigantic granite blocks. Among the thousands of smaller sandstone bricks, there stood these huge blocks.

It was clear to see that the destruction of the temples at Karnak, had been focused on this path... The path of the Moon of the family line of Tuthmosis', the area of Thoth.

The Path that religion still despise... The path of seeking Wisdom...

Interestingly these granite blocks have the name of Tuthmosis III, the same person that erected the dream stealer between the front legs of the Sphinx.

"In a land fare to the south, lays a gigantic creature unlike any other. It carries many secrets from the past, and enchant people to have thousands of theories, of it existence.."

Truly this magnificent ancient structure, must be seen as a historical place set a part from the great Pyramids. I would say that it has earned its right, simply by surviving for thousands of years.

The sphinx of Giza was once upon a time also known as "The Terrifying one", it is considered a Mysterious structure on earth, the rock cut sculpture has a human head, and lions body.

The statue is located on Western bank of River Nile along the Giza plateau.

There are many mysterious theories about the Sphinx, one of them, is the theory about who the Sphinx portrays, and it is believed that it is the face of one pharaoh named Khafra.

A German archaeologist named Rainer Stadelmann, did a careful examination of the beard, that was detached and the headdress, and he concluded that it was more parallel to Pharaoh Khufu.

He supports this, with the evidence that the Khafra’s Causeway was constructed to suit the pre-existing structure, which by then could be the sphinx.

Of all monoliths, this is the largest ,standing 74 meters long, 19 meters wide and 20 meters tall. The structure may have been built from 2558-2532 BC.

There are many questions regarding the sphinx, and the countless of questions has led to the formation of different sphinx riddles.

According to evidences found, it is thought that the structure was part of a larger funerary complex.

The valley temple and sphinx temple are build with 200 tone stone blocks that have been excavated from the structures enclosure.

Many people have tried to explain the origin and the nature of the sphinx.

Early Egyptologists know that the structure was unearthed during the reign of the Egyptian pharaoh Tuthmosis IV.

They know this, because of the Dream stealer which Tuthmosis IV had erected between the feet of the Sphinx.

however, the structure could not have formed a perfect sculpture of a human head and a lion’s body, the proportions between the head and body, are too different.

There are other theories like the water erosion hypothesis, which is rather interesting, and might hold the most truth of all theories.

This water erosion theory is placed in the category of geology, and it is presented by Mr. John Anthony West in collaboration with Mr. Robert M. Schoch.

One mythologist Colin Reader proposed the sphinx of Giza could have been a place for worship before necropolis.

Over the last 700 years, many people have tried to demystify the mysteries behind the sphinx, but only having theories of what could have created this amazing structure.

Other poets have depicted the structure having breasts similar to those of women...

The structure ads immense history and it is a great place to learn the ancient Egyptian culture and history.

This was a short recap of how the Sphinx is viewed by different people, some are not plausible, while others surely seem proven by nature itself.

Despite all the theories, one thing is for curtain, The Sphinx is indeed a famous historical place, where dreams meet reality and become one.

Now with this in mind, I would like to draw your attention further south, to the temples of Karnak...

We are actually going to zoom in on the building blocks themselves, those use at the Sphinx temple, and other building blocks that I found at Karnak...

Aswan Dam

Again,... Interestingly I think Sety I temple at Abydos offers more clarification upon the mysterious festival, so I will use the pictures that I took at the temple.

I am of the belief that it is NOT a 30 year festival as the scholars have settled upon, but I actually believe that this ritual festival has more to do with some Astronomical Relationship between Earths Seasons.

Now, I am well aware of, how this must sound to the scholar mind, so please do bear with me, as I venture into yet another unexplored path among the old...

I do not say that I am right, but I will prove my point with more than my own words or theories, I will use what is known, and draw attention to the smaller details that people so quickly move by.

Analyzing Festival Scenes

The deeper that I dig into these ritual scenes, the more you might be unfamiliar with them, but the scholar would know what I am talking about. Again you must remember everything is not known yet, fare from it...

So here we see the great Seti I in a running motion, he has a staff like thing in his hand and a wipe in his other hand.

It is accepted among scholars that this scene is called the Hed-Sed festival, and most believe it to be an event that took place every 30 years of a pharaohs life.

Yet there are so much evidence that points in another direction, too many pharaohs have more than one of these scenes on their temple walls, yet they hardly ruled for 60 years (30 years X 2)...

So the question would logical be (if one wanted to explore the thought even more), could it be something different that what we perceive the Heb-Sed festival to be?

- I do suspect that the answer to this, is Yes :)

As I mentioned in the other posts which are referenced to at the beginning of this post, I was thought by an scholar Egyptologist in what the Heb-Sed festival was thought to be about, yet their perception seemed very off to me..

Again I will not go into describing the celebration of the festival in this post, because I have already done so before.

Here I will show you how my mind works, and what I see, which does not follow the scholar books.

The first thing that I noticed, where both the differences in the scenes of one pharaoh (it could be either Ramesses II or Seti I, like other ritualistic images they follow a standard.. And unknown standard, yet you still see some common denominators among the scenes).

Another thing worth pointing out, is that the ancient Egyptians were masters of not only numerology, but also the dual images.

By this I mean, there is this duality which goes harmonies through everything that they did, I talk more about this in my book "The Secret of Anubis, The Winter Triangle".

They did Nothing unintentionally !

The first thing that I notice with the festival scene, was the scorpion Goddess. You might think that I am referring to the smaller lady figure with her arms stretched out, but I am not talking about her, thou I think she too, is very important.

No, I am talking about one specific figure on the other side of the pharaoh, I have drawn it with white inside the red box-thing. That symbol is normally used for the Scorpion Goddess, who is also portrayed in their astronomical charts, which are found at either their tombs or their Death Temples.

The Scorpion goddess is the constellation of the Scorpion, this is clearly proved in many ancient tombs.

Beneath the Scorpion goddess you have the symbol of "Horizon" ?.. Interesting considering...

It is also very clear that, as the scholars also say, that it is a ritual about the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt, under one pharaoh (king). This is illustrated through different symbols, such as the Pharaohs crowns on each scene, and the ladies that stands in front of the pharaoh.

The ladies that have their hands stretched out, is on one of the scenes a representation of the goddess of Upper Egypt, and in the other scene, she represents the goddess of Lower Egypt.

It is also interesting, to notice the different objects that the king is holding in each scene.

The Astronomical Connections

First off I would say, everything in ancient Egypt had deeper connections and always ends back at their most ancient Gods and goddess, namely the stars and constellations.

Placing the Scorpion goddess in the image, clearly indicates a connection to the holder of the symbol, and what she in depth stands for. Then we see a symbol of the word "horizon" beneath the Scorpion goddess symbol...

Another interesting observation about the ancient Egyptian, The Birthday of Osiris was called Heb-Tep...

Osiris is in some context seen as a Moon god, but this is interesting because of what Osiris birthday actually meant back then.

Osiris Birthday was one of the Epagomenal days, the first of them to be very exact. The birthdays of five certain gods and goddess were used to make up the calendar year, where we today use the 'leap-year' classification, because of difference in calendar ideas.

In ancient Egypt time and calendars belonged to the gods and goddess.

Again there might be some deeper connection to these scenes, than first presumed. Rather coincidental that Osiris birthday was known as Heb-Teb, and here we have a ritual called Heb-Sed?

Could this peculiar running ritual have something to do with the Epagomenal days?

Not only did they align them with the stars, Abydos temple stands as a proof of a much more advanced knowledge, where they also calculated numbers into the building itself.

Besides the beautiful Temple of Seti I and beneath ground level, You find the Tomb of Osiris.

The Greatest Astronomer, Senenmut

He is proven to be a genius of his time, to this day, his monuments still stand as a perfection of the reign of Hatshepsut. Senenmut was her closet friend as well as being her chief architect.

Hatshepsut's most devoted friend at the end of her reign was Sen-en-mut, he was also her daughter Neferu-Ra's teacher.
He rose himself from a poor boy to be a high official in the ancient world.

Who was Senenmut?

Sen-en-mut, literary means ‘Brother of the mother.’ Best known as Hatshepsut’s chief architect as mentioned, but also know under the title Steward of the King's Daughter.

He came from a modest family, but was able to rise himself to the highest place in ancient Egypt, working as a official inside the royal courts.

His image is also found 70 times, in one of Hatshepsut’s temples.
He clearly proved his diverse abilities, Being an outstanding teacher, as well as dealing with huge building projects.

Another title of his was ‘Director of the Domain of Amun’ which connects him to the temple of Amun in Karnak, read more about this below under the astronomer headline.

Who were Senenmut’s parents?

It was not a big tomb, only one room, but completely filled with ancient artifacts. Two sarcophagus* were found, one male and one female, it was Sen-en-mut’s parents.

For the first time in over 1400 years, their names would be uttered by the living once more, they were Ramose and Hatnefret.

Senenmut probably felt more affection for his mother than for his father this can be suspected because of the tombs content. First of, it would seem that there was no canopic chest* for his father, but his mothers canopic chest was there.

They proceeded to open the sarcophagus of Ramose, Senenmut’s father, but to their surprise it contained the skeleton bones of him instead of a mummified body.

The loose bandages around his bones, revealed an ink mark with an inscription “Neferu-Ra” the name of Hatshepsut’s daughter, hereby linking this tomb directly to the family of Hatshepsut.

Hatnefret, the mother of Sen-en-mut had a beautiful detailed sarcophagus, and her face was covered by a gold foil.

Upon her bandages were found the cursive hieroglyphics inscription;
‘Good Goddess, Maat – Ka- Ra, loved by Amun, may she live forever.’
It would seem that everything in the tomb actually belonged to Senenmut’s mother, Hatnefret. Not only did they come to find that this monument was built by Senenmut, but also that he had his parents buried beneath it, as a tribute to them.

Valley of the Nobles - The Unused Tomb

While archeologist's were collecting objects from the 18. Dynasty (18. Dynasty was between 1570 BC - 1293 BC.) They came across objects with Hatshepsut's name engraved on them.

But some of the objects also bore another name, the name Senenmut.

It was quickly known, that this Senenmut was not a part of the royal family (pharaohs family line), but seem to have come from a commoners family. This idea was confirmed two times at one place.

In 1930 H.E Winlock opened a monument (also known as TT71) which lies on the hill called 'Sheikh abd el-Qurna,' when exactly this monument was discovered or by who, is unknown.

It is presumed to have been discovered one hundred years before its opening.

At first glace it seems like a primitive house of some sort, wholes revealing windows and doors. Closer inspections of the monument, showed a similarity to Hatshepsut’s Great temple at Deir el-Bahari, but in a much smaller scale.

The monument was cut into the cliffs behind it, and a forecourt in front of it.

Archeologists could see that the monument was not completed, when the ancient Egyptian worker had stopped working on the site.
While A. Lansing and W. Hayes were excavating in 1936 and researching this monument, they came across a completely intact tomb.

Senenmut the Astronomer

This is an important tomb, because not only is it from the time of Hatshepsut, but this is also the location of the oldest detailed astronomical chart ever found.

The Tomb offers a unique insight, into how they viewed the dark heavens in those days.

the Decans can be seen in their forms at that time, There are 36 decans, and they are stars. In those days, they were seen as 36 weekly stars.

There is also 12 big circles in one half of the images, which corresponds to the half of a day 12 hours. If we count the rooms inside each circle, we come to find that there are 24 rooms, corresponding to the total hours of one day.

So this could also indicate that the 24 hours in the 12 circles, are 12 days. Much research has been made into this chart, and to this day, it is not completely deciphered.

Personal note

That it was Amun that he chose to service is probably a conscious choice. In his time period of around Hatshepsut’s time (1489 B.C) it was the astrological age of the Ram, known in ancient Egypt as Amun (there are three and maybe more forms of Ram’s).

Even more interesting is the fact that the ancient Greeks translated Amun as Jupiter. In our modern time we know this ‘combination’ (or the observation of Jupiter) of planets, as the star of Bethlehem (also see Constellation of PISCES ) , Jupiter was the planet that the three kings followed.

This planet has always been a significant planet, going back to ancient days. We just need to look at the year 1489 B.C where Jupiter was in the sign of Aries, but in this case, being even more precise, because it was also the astrological age of Aries.

Not only that, if I am not that mistaken then Jupiter is in conjunction with the Midheaven off course the events surrounding the Jupiter placement in 7 B.C are more significant than that.

But then in 7 B.C it wasn’t the astrological age of Aries/the Ram, so they have two huge differences.
- Just something which I thought was interesting.

Sarcophagus: Also known as the ‘coffin’ where they placed the mummified body in. The word ‘sarcophagus’ is Greek and actually means ‘flesh-eating’. Usually a sarcophagus/coffin is filled with texts, which is referred to as the ‘coffin texts’.

canopic chest: Also known as canopic jars, which are four vessels that were used for the organs of the deceased.

The little girl stood still, in the beautiful hall of her fathers palace, as if the voice had pulled her into a trance, her 9 year old body stood as still as the granite statues of her father.

Who was Hat-shep-sut

She was the first and only child by Tuthmosis I and his first wife.

She lived around 1508 - 1458 B.c.

To put this into perspective,
she lived a long time
before Ramesses II and Sety I.

Almost 4000 years ago from today.

Tuthmosis I loved his daughter so much, and unlike other daughters, she would try to imitate her father, at different events. He was proud of her, but he foresaw the troubles ahead.

Tuthmosis I finally had a son Tuthmosis II with his second wife, whom he raised to be the next heir. Yet he knew that the throne rightfully belonged to her, and that she was the one of the royal blood of the first.

But royal blood or not, the priest would Never accept a female leader.. no one knows why...

Because of the priests rules, queen Hat-shep-sut was semi-forced to marry her brother, hereby giving him the power needed to rule Egypt. She was married with her younger half brother, together they would rule for 14 years.

They did not have a son, which left Tuthmosis II with the same problem as her father was left with. Tutmosis II died at a young age, and had chosen his son Tuthmosis III by a second wife, to marriage her.

From Queen to King

Again to keep everything in the accepted orders, Tuthmosis III was still a young boy, which gave queen Hatshepsut the possibility to rule as she wanted, as long as she pleased the priests.

One day it was announced that Amun the Hidden One had spoken to her, while she was meditating at Karnak.

Amun had declared her the rightful ruler of Egypt, with such an announcement the priest were caught of guard.

They must have found themselves in a rather peculiar situation, which had never been seen before.

It was accepted both by the people and by the priests that the pharaohs was able to connect directly to the divine.

So when Hat-shep-sut said what she said, she knew that they could not really challenge the statement, because in doing so they would be challenging the entire hierarchy.

She has 3 official names

(most likely one secret name)

• Birth name
• Priestess name/ Throne name
• Horus name

From the earliest time, the ancient kings of Egypt would have 4 strong names

Horus name
Nebti name
Horus of gold name
Nesu bati name

As you can see on the pictures above, which I took in Luxor, Egypt, gives the name of maatkara.

This is actually a priestess (title) order who served under the Lord Amun, interestingly they use the word Ra and not Amun.

I will talk more about this female priesthood in a upcoming post.

A name made up of 3 words:

Maat

As you can see on the picture, maat points to a sitting figure, notice that this figure has a feather on the head.

This is the goddess known as Maat, the balance keeper of the universe. Without her, the ancient Egyptian believed that they would drift into the chaos of the universe.

"Oh lord of the universe my Ka exist by your rules alone".

The ka is the core of a human being. But like all the words in ancient Egypt, and the defiant meaning is still unknown.

It is the double, image, the subconscious self, the abstract personality, character as well as the mind.

So as you can see, the Ka is much like the word maat, we have an assumption, because we have seen it used in context, that revealed these words.

But even in ancient Egypt, there seems to be confusion about this word.

The Pyramid text tell us that,

The Ka lives in Heaven, and that one can be happy with our ka's. That one can join the ka to their body.

So these things are a lot more complex, and might give us other valuable information about the time.

The first creator on the First day. Ra as you probably already know, is the Sun..

But when ancient Egyptians would use this symbol, they could also be referring to the 'First Day', especially the first day that Ra rose above the horizon.

Now this was the queens Hatshepsut's cartouche for her throne name.

The Hat-shep-sut cartouche for her birth name looks different, and also serves another purpose.

The word means

"Foremost of Noble Ladies"

It is peculiar to me, that the cartouche above, does not seem to give the word Hatshepsut... One word is missing...

Here is how I translate this name...

The last figure, is another version of the word 'Sheps' which means noble, honourable, and the sainted dead..

The next part is the Lion front part and the letter t below it. This part makes up 'hat'

The next part is the most tricky one if you ask me. I would guess this is where they got the u from. The vessel alone means xnem: To unite, to be joined to, and below the vessel there is placed yet another t.

I would translate the first part of the cartouche as 'amun/amen'

To me her name looks more like this, from one end to the other.

Her Horus name

The Horus names could be seen in a more mythological way, in that it belongs to the story of Horus, and who is the rightful ruler after Horus the great son.

The three up raised arms alone, is used to identify the KAU-spirits, plur. It was said that Ptah was the creator of the KAU spirits.

Monuments

Hatshepsut was not known for going into war, like other rulers were, but rather for her big trading expedition to Punt. She is also known for her fine monuments, which is of a very high and unique quality.

Quote from her. "Hear ye, all persons! Ye people as many as ye are! I have done this according to the design of my heart. ... I have restored that which was in ruins.."

Her monuments are to be found at Luxor temple, and Karnak temple and her great funerary temple at Deir el-bahari and at many other sites.

In my guide book, the magical guide to Luxor temple, I bring a little light upon her boat temple in Luxor temple and how Ramesses II probably felt about her.

It is widely known that Hat-shep-sut had a huge impact upon her father, and brother/husband and her Son/husband.

Many scholars believe she manipulated the men around her, when in fact she just did as a queen would do. And if we put the shoe on the other foot, then she seemed to have been seen as an object, given from one man to another.

Egyptologist James Henry said she is also known as "the first great woman in history of whom we are informed."

An obelisk that lies down in one of the temples at Karnak, it shows the crowning of Hatshepsut in male form. Upon the obelisk, the god Amun declares his appreciation of Hatshepsut as pharaoh.

Hat-shep-sut's devotion to Amun, deserves a post by itself. So I am making a post about these priestesses.

Horus strong spirited youthful of years. Horus the Golden Bright God. Egyptian queen of upper and lower lands maat KA RA.

She has erected as monument for her father master of Amun made of lots of electrum.

She lightens the two lands like Atum. She has done what no one has done since the beginning of the earth.

Forever this monument stands with the name of her father.

They are words by the Master of the Gods.

Tomb of the Queen

She had a couple of Tombs, but her body has not yet been found.

Howard Carter found the first one and wrote.
"As a king, it was clearly necessary for her to have her tomb in the Valley like all other kings - as a matter of fact I found her tomb myself in 1903-

and the present tomb was abandoned. She would have been better advised to hold to her original plan.

In this secret spot her mummy would have had a reasonable chance of avoiding disturbance: in the Valley it had none. A king she would be, and a king's fate she shared".

The second one is to be found at the base of the cliffs in the corner of the eastern part of the Valley of the Kings.

Things found inside Djosers Step Pyramid

People tend to believe that the Pyramids were empty when they were first opened, but this is not true.

The Great Pyramids at Giza are the most popular pyramids among people today, but in fact there are many pyramids all the way down to Sudan.

But even thou the Great Pyramids are so famous, how many people know about what was found inside the pyramids, when they were first opened after thousands of years?

One thing that might baffle people for eternity, could be why so few if any people have been found in their sarcophagus in the pyramids of Egypt?

Or why so many lids seem to be of some sort of importance, based on their placement and different looks?

Or why they all seem to follow a curtain building plan, in the placement of the rocks and even holes.

Djoser Step Pyramid

(also known as Zoser) 3. Dynasty 2630 - 2611 B.C.
The Granite Tomb Chamber (Supposedly Djoser's resting place);
There were found pieces of mummies in this chamber.

Under an outer roughly linen layer, another much finer linen layer was found which was neatly wrapped around (some veins) and bones of the mummy.

This was a uniquely technique, used only in the old kingdom and maybe even before the old kingdom.
New C14 age testing has revealed that the mummies are several hundred of years younger than Djoser.

The Eastern Shafts and Galleries underneath Djoser's Step Pyramid;

This Pyramid is a most fascinating building, and it is build up in different stages. But below the step pyramid, there has been found something more mysterious.

A deep structure underneath the pyramid, where there is eleven shafts/corridors that stretch towards the west.

The Galleries called I and IV, have apparently been used as tombs, because two intact sarcophagus of Alabaster were found there and fragments of even more were also found.

The Gallery called III, could be seen as a corridor that leads to an opening of a little bit bigger room, which were covered by fine Limestone. There were also found the Hip bone of an 18 years old woman, and the tomb bore the sigil of Djoser's Horus name and two other titles which belonged to Imhotep. New C14 Age testing has revealed something, which only adds to the secrets of the Pyramid of Djoser. One set of bones belonging to a woman, dates to several generations Before Djoser.

The Gallery called VI and IX, contained a beautiful collection of stone vessels, and stacks of plates and cups. Most of the items were made of Alabaster, but there were also found other fine stone materials among the items. All together there were around 40.000 objects. Many objects had inscriptions upon them, and they clearly did not belong to Djoser, they probably belonged to his pharaoh ancestors.

The most obvious mystery to Djoser's Step Pyramid
Is probably the other Tomb, which is also known as the 'South Tomb.' Excavation lead archaeologists to discover not one but two different underground levels. Both have an inner tomb chamber, but they are as fare as I know, two different sizes.

There are countless of theories as to why this South Tomb exists.

Scorpion's mace head and Narmer's Palette

James E. Quibell and Frederick W. Green was investigating the temple of Horus at Hierakonpolis between 1897-1898, when they found Pharaoh Scorpion's mace head.

In a pit labeled 'Main deposit' between two walls, they found Scorpion's mace head which can be seen at the start of this Book - among the first chapters, where Scorpion's name is written.

The Palette of Narmer was also found in that deposit.

Narmer and Scorpion lived before the great Pyramid builders, hereby making it very likely that their religious belief was as the later Pyramid builders, in that they were Star Worshippers.

Crypt Underneath Dendera Temple

Beneath the sand, among the walls, under
the temple floor you'll find secret crypts.
In Abydos, in Karnak, in Kom-Ombo
and everywhere else, many have stood
untouched by any man, even till this very day.

The video clip below, is one of such chambers, that is now open to the public. You are walking with me on my first time there, seeing some of what I saw...

Before you watch it, I would like to give some pointers, so that you have an idea of what your watching.

For me it seemed like a mixed chamber, very cryptic.. In the clip you are taking down one corridor, which lies underneath Dendera temple, and you have to crawl to get into the small chamber, still not easy in a dress *lol

The walls are absolutely beautiful, a rounded 3D effect, that makes them look smooth.

Dendera temple

is an ancient Egyptian temple, that have been rebuild by the ancient Greeks, or should we say, they changed it to fit their nature.

So what you are really looking at, is the Greeks version of the ancient Egyptian story and perception. For me it seems very obvious that the Greeks got some things wrong, or their minds were on the wrong track to capture the ancient Egyptian perception.

This temple is specifically about the stars, revealing both the ancient Egyptian ideas, as well as the later Greeks version.

But...

The crypt underneath the temple

is an intriguing part to the temple, especially considering the relief's. When I look at the relief's alone, in the crypt, it's easy for me to see, that it is a kind of birth chamber. Normally the ancient Egyptian would build a birth house on ground level, as they also did at Dendera temple.

But the crypt is in one end filled with the traditional birth scenes of the gods, yet in the other end everything becomes so puzzling...

At the top of this article you were able to see a picture of one of the scenes in the video. At first glance it might seem like an odd image, and there are some different views on it.

The standard answer people give, is that it is a necklace, which was used in ritual ceremonies. Others will simply say, that it is not determined yet.

Now here is what I see..
For me it is a mythological story wrapped inside an image. Making it resemble a necklace is both appropriated, but also interestingly misleading in some sense.

I also see the overall image as a necklace with the normal Hathor musical instrument, but as soon as I look a little closer, I see much more...

You are looking at a very cleaver illustration of the cosmos or should I say a connection to the cosmos... You have the 4 pillars (drawn in light with a glow) at one side you see the Moon sailing across in his boat (drawn in light blue).

The 4 pillars in this case, are the Hathor instruments, which my eyes seem to divided into smaller sections. The pillar itself, with the head upon it, could be seen as a part by itself. The face itself regularly means 'her' in ancient Egypt, and it belongs to the ancient mythology of the cosmos.

The part above these her-pillars could be seen as gates, or a chamber of some sort... Where something is being poured into them...

I would always recommend looking at six in the early evening, as the closing time. The opening hours fit the seasonal weather pretty good, meaning, when dark approaches, so does the gates close.

The Giza plateau is a magical place to walk, and the mysteries of this place are not few. Most visitors see the Great pyramids at day time, and tend to miss the other side of these magnificent structures.

When the sun sets and the star covered darkness arrives, the lights are lithe by the great pyramids.

Orion stands in the background as a guardian of the holy night, Sirius she watches on beside him.

"Behold…," A deep beautiful Oxford voice declares from behind the ancient rocks. Suddenly the Sphinx turns from Beautiful light yellow to a deep reddish color, as the voice speaks in the name of this fascinating sculpture of rocks,
"They gave me the name of Sphinx…." Laser lights shoot its way around the Pyramids, giving away their locations in the dark of night.

If you are staying in a Hotel, then there should be a information office for the guides from the different companies. There should be some information about the light shows in Egypt, but as I remembered this information always seemed to be lacking.

But if you ask at your Hotel reception for the guide's hours, they gladly help.

Then use the Guides office time, and ask them for details about the evenings Sound and Light Show.

You should also be able to make a excursion (trip) through them, this means that the guides takes care of everything for you, and all you need to do is follow the instructions, which should be given very clearly (and never be afraid to ask any questions, even twice).
It is both easy and cheaper to do it yourself, because you off course need to pay the guide for their extra work.

If you would like to go alone, then I would recommend walking if your Hotel is in a okay distance from the Pyramids.

But if you live a much longer distance from the Pyramids, then a cab is both cheap and easy.

To have absolutely no problems under your way, then I would recommend you do one thing before you leave your Hotel (actually two in One); When your in the reception, then ask them to write the Arabic name for the light and sound show at the Pyramids or at the Giza plateau, on a small piece of paper.

This will firstly give your presence to the Hotel personal if you should get lost, then they'll know. If you kindly tell your cap driver that you going to the area of the Pyramids, in English, then hand him the piece of paper with the Arabic name, and off you go.

You can make some good deals with your cap driver, for a return trip too, or you can take another - up to you.

Finding the office to buy your ticket for the show, might seem a little bit confusing, because everything is new to one.

So I recommend that you ask the cap driver to drive to the ticket office by the pyramids, but asking people will also help you right of the back, they are truly a very helpful people, and are never really appreciated for their kindness.

This story has been posted on the Daily mail as well as the Huffingtonpost, and it is indeed a interesting story.

The article posted on different news networks, try to move the story in a rather mysterious direction. Some referring to the curse of Tutankhamon, news gets a little bit out of hand with he fictional description in between the actual facts.

At the Manchester museum a small statue had been standing in its place for 80 years, from the time that it was donated to the museum, until very recently, where it was moved into a glass monitor.

Suddenly people noticed that the statue had turned, and as the days passed it would turn even more... Everything from TV physicist and the curator Mr. Campbell Price placed a time lapse camera, to record the statue moving.

Some claim that it only moves in the day hours and it only turns 180 degrees...

Some believe there is a scientific explanation for this...
While other believe that there is a spiritual explanation to it...

Fatcs

It is said to be a small statue of an ancient Egyptian named Neb-Senu, it is also said that it is an offering to the great god of the underworld, Osiris.

It dates back to around 1800 B.C. which would mean that Neb-Senu died in the time of pharaoh Amenemhet III ruler ship which was between 1842-1797 B.C.

This makes this relic very old, dating back to the 12 Dynasty, before Ramesses II, before Tuthmosis I, and further back. Very old.

On the back of the statue is a prayer asking for bread and beer in the underworld.

I like to dig a little deeper, but it is not easy to dig that much deeper, if the only thing you have is a small statue locked in a glass case..

But I can look at his Name, and see where this might lead me.

What does Neb-Senu Mean?

very superficial, the Word Senu, was incorporated into many pharaohs names. The pharaoh that ruled before Amenemhet II, was a king named Senusret III (1878-1841 B.C).

The word Neb, was used a lot in ancient Egypt. It means everything from good to bad. The word Neb was both used to describe an enemy in some context, but there was also a Grain God called Neb. I would think that this name of Neb belonged to the Grain section of the word. If he was a farmer, then it would be very fitting.

The word Senu is also interesting considering that Neb-Senu is seen as a name of the person, that this statue was dedicated to.

The word Senu, means Gods. So if we put it together Neb-Senu means Grain-Gods. This off course opens up for the possibility, that it was not the person's name, but maybe the God that the offering was for.

When we consider the prayer for bread and beer, then it is indeed something that you would pray to the Grain Gods for, because in ancient Egypt the Beer was also made from Grain, so both would go under the Grain-Gods.

These two pharaohs that I have mentioned here, are
Pyramid Builders.

On another note.

The Singing Colossi of Menon

I just have to share this with you.

The ancient Egyptians ability to work the lands material, is remarkable. Everything from the sandstone block to granite blocks all way to manipulating with the earths strongest material, known as deriot.

On the way to the Valley of the Kings, people usually stop to see the gigantic Menon statues. People stop up for 5 min and take their pictures, and I have not seen one person notice the real architectural construction of these statues.

They go beyond what meets the eye...

What people are missing when they only spend 5 min there, is the real beauty of its creation. They build these colossi's in such a magnificent way, that when the winds hits from certain angles, a musical sound is created hereby making the statues sing in more beautiful notes than normal.

It was said in the older days, that these great colossi's of Menon would sing towards the two horizons.

One should not underestimate the ability of our most ancient ancestors, for they have proven time and time again, that they were able to construct these gigantic monuments, and they also stand the real test of time itself.

We can't say that today...

Do you remember the good old days?

Black and white swamp things coming slowly up of some pit?

I thought, I would talk a little bit about how I became fascinated by ancient Egypt.

Like so many, I was hooked on the old black and white movies about mummies.

Yes once the screen was black and white, personally I have always thought that they were more beautiful in black and white :)

I clearly remember getting absolutely spooked by a mummy coming up of a swamp, this was one of the bases for a mummy movie some 70 years back.

When it comes to movies surrounding mummies, it was and is, always some curse like theme.

This kind of movie is usually based on some archaeological proven facts, but they also mix a lot of fiction into it, I do stress, a lot.

No order to the list

The Mummy 1932

This is truly one of the good old ones. This mummy film was directed by Karl Freund and was released on the 22 of December 1932.

It is 1921, and an expedition to Egypt discovers the mummy of priest Imhotep. One of the expeditions assistants reads from an ancient scroll and Imhotep is given life.

This movie has the plot stretched over years, while Imhotep adapt to the surrounding world, as he is looking for his long lost soul mate Ankh-es-en-amon.

The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb

was released 18 of October 1964, it was produced and directed by Michael Carreras.

It is 1900 and a British Egyptologists team finds the tomb of Ra and his mummy, the team bring their discovery back to London, in the hopes of having a luxurious exhibition.

On the eve of the exhibition while everyone is anticipating what they are going to see, they open the sarcophagus of Ra, but it is empty...

If I am not mistaken, then it was this one that I watched as a very young child, I was around 10 maybe even younger. And no my parents did not know, or they would have switched it off.

When I look at them today, it's like watching the old rubber Godzilla, no point intended.
It is interesting how demanding even our eyes get, we are attuned to small things through time.

I must admit that I have no problems in watching the good old black and white movies.

The Mummy was released in 1959 written by Jimmy Sangster and produced by Michael Carreras and a Mr. Anthony Nelson Keys in England.

It seems to have been part of a series, or should I say they followed the theme of some other mummy movies from 20 years earlier.

Now I can see that there are some funny points in this movie, and looses a lot of credibility in today's world.

In this movie we have a archaeologist team searching for the tomb of a high priestess of the god Karnak (?) This made me smile.
Or maybe someone meant to say "Priestess at Karnak" Or something like that. For surely there has never been a god named Karnak...

Amazing Stories, Series 1 Episode 4, Mummy Daddy

In the late 1980's Steven Spielberg created this awesome series called Amazing Stories, which was my favorite series in the beginning of the 1990's.

This is a short film about a modern day (90's) film crew, trying to make a film at night out in the country side. The actor that is playing the mummy gets a call and is told that his wife is giving birth in the nearby hospital.

The Mummy dad stiffly runs to the car, being in such a rush that he drove off wearing the mummy costume... Not the best thing you can do while visiting the country side at night.. Panic breaks out...

I would recommend that you watch it, it is funny, and it is the people that are scary...

So to this Mummy film list, I have to add the Mummy Daddy.

Is there a Curse?

If we look at ancient Egyptian manuscript, then there indeed was a curse placed upon what was holy, and surely the mummy was a priority of any tomb.

Actually there are also scriptures on the tomb wall, which if people could read them, would probably make them more humble, if not scared...

The mummy was essential in ancient Egyptian spiritual belief, as it was the chamber/vessel of the soul. They called the soul Ba, actually it is not really the soul, I have a article post about that What a human consist off

Mummies will always capture our attention, as their ancient culture have captivated so many, through thousands of years.

The care and attention to the body after death, seems obscure to our modern day world. It is not really obscure, but rather beautiful if you look at it in a different manner.

They followed the path of the Star Sirius, which traveled for many days. The crossing of Sirius over the night sky, takes 70 days. The mummification took 70 days, as if they were trying to loosen the soul from the corpse, so that it would travel among the stars.

The constellation of the Thigh, is accepted by the general Egyptologist to be the constellation of the Great Bear also known as the Big Dipper and also known as Ursa Major.

Interesting Fact, The Constellation of the big dipper (inside the Great Bear) was known as fare back as to the time of the Pyramid builders, which is more than 4000 years old..

So what is Egyptology?

Egyptology is taken from the Greek word egyptologia, and it is the study of ancient Egyptian language, literature, history, religion and other subjects from the land of ancient Egypt.

Without people being somewhat naturally drawn to

Egypt

and the cultures past history, there would have been no such word as Egyptology.

The above text would never have been read..

First recognized as an academic discipline in 1880 because a Flinders Petrie and Samuel Birch as well as Emmanuel de Rougé and Heinrich Brugsch, began to meticulous documenting what was found at each excavation site.

Today Egyptology is a firm part of many universities, and people can take degrees under this subject. The word Egyptology is a over all description, but it can be much more specified.

Starting at the most obvious point, namely by the Pyramids and then moving south towards Luxor to the Valley of the Kings and Queens, they clearly determined that there was a timeline to follow.

According to the University of California, Los Angeles the standard text used for studying Egyptology was the book Lexicon der Ágyptologie, the first volume was published in 1975.

What is worth taking into account, is the life of vizier Khaemwese Ramesses II son. He is now considered the first recorded Egyptologist as well as many other things.

He is clearly recognized as both seeking ancient artifacts and restoring ancient monuments. Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that Greeks have always gone to Egypt (after the conquest of Alexandra the great), and their graffiti can still be seen in the ancient tombs.

I would suspect that ancient Egypt have always captivated the mind and hearts of people, since the time of their greatness.

Meaning, that it is only the word that is new, and not the study of ancient civilizations.

Zahi Hawass

He is the former Minister of State for Antiquities Affairs, and works at a lot of archaeological sites, different places in Egypt. He is very well known for his television series, which ran in the United States, the program was called Chasing Mummies.
Most likely if you have an interest in Ancient Egyptian culture, then you have hear of Zahi Hawass :)

A very controversial person.

Kent R. Weeks

Mr. Kent R. Weeks is a remarkable Egyptologist and archaeologist as well as being the genius that launched The Theban Mapping project back in 1978, I truly appreciate him for that.

One of his great achievements was to find the tomb of Ramesses II many son's.

The Empty Sarcophagus of Ancient Egypt

I have been wanting to write about the Empty Sarcophagus for years, I am unsure of why I wait as I tend to do. Maybe because it is still not accepted or even talked about, like so much..

So this is a blog article about the
ancient Pyramid builders,
and something which has nagged
For years...

First off you need to know this about me, I prefer the Pyramid builders idea's, and even their spiritual concepts. I am not really keen on the priest period, coming in later

Egypt

, they seem to much like politicians in today's world...

But the most ancient pharaohs of Egypt, saw something very different than the priest that took over later down the line.

They believed in the soul, and traveling among the stars, whereas the priest invented a new path, where people would live again, through the Resurrection of Osiris...

This is not about the Pyramid builders themselves, but rather what today's archaeologists refer to as their sarcophagus's (coffins).

Where are the Pyramid Builder's ?

The biggest thing that has always nagged at me, was the fact that no body has ever been found inside those sarcophagus...(?)

I have never head of a Pyramid builder's body found, there are some (very few) bones that have been found, but in many cases they date from either further back (?) or later..

Are Archaeologists Sure that they are Coffins ?

B).

Another thing I noticed and again it presented more questions in my mind than any answers.. The fact that almost all of them seem to lack a top part, the part that would seal the (coffin)?

And then in another case you have a odd looking Coffin? The Mysterious Sarcophagus of Sekhemkhet completely sealed, but then its found empty..?

All of the sarcophagus' are made of one single block of material, either alabaster, granite or something else. clearly indicating the importance of it, being of the same material. There seems to be a pattern or some sort of standard to how it should have looked.

Another thing to keep in mind is the fact, that the coffins could not have been dragged in after the building was constructed, because the passage ways are too narrow.

It is therefore concluded that the sarcophagus' were placed inside before the construction was completed. most likely when the construction reached the levels of where they were going to be placed...

Should this then mean, that they dragged in the kings body after? Since pyramids where build while the king lived (or so is the thought).. hardly a royal way of burial..

nahh.. to me, to many things, does not make sense, if it is a tomb...

Makeup seems to have been around forever, where exactly it descends from, is still unknown. We see cosmetic used in ancient cultures, and the items that they used back then, looks a lot like ours today.

I will use queen Nefertari as subject for this Makeup article post as well as an antique object that I found in Morocco.

Nefertari and Ramesses the Great

Nefertari was the favorite wife of Ramesses the great (Ramesses II). His love for her went beyond the stars, his soul was bound to her in life as well as in death, she was the true love of his life.

They are said to have
been married 1279 B.C.

Some of her titles were,
"Great Royal wife"
"Sweet of love"
"Mistress of all Lands"
"Beautiful of face"

Pharaohs have always had more than one wife, yet some women in time have stood out like no other.

Nefertari was one of these women.

Nefertari the Most beautiful

Considering that one of her official titles were "Beautiful of face" it surely sounds like she had an enchanting face.

She must have had a very distinct beauty. It would be a much more logical title, if she used cosmetic, which can give the face a distinct beauty.

Nefertari's Tomb

Her tomb is not only one of the most beautiful resting places, but it also shows us how she looked and dressed, to some extent.

On the tomb walls you she Nefertari looking stunning, but you can also she that she is wearing makeup.

Ramesses II would carve her existence into the rocks, making her live forever.

As you can see above, she clearly has makeup upon her face. Eyeliner and mascara even a blush like color on her cheeks.

I would bet my hat on that they also had lip stick,
but more like lip balm with color.

Since they also had crème back then some 3000 years ago, I would not put it past them to have combined that with color too, getting a foundation like cosmetic.

Mysterious Sarcophagus of Sekhemkhet 2649 B.C. - 2643 B.C.

Mysterious Sarcophagus of Sekhemkhet

No inscriptions can be found on the so-called sarcophagus.

It is cut from one single Alabaster block.
The opening is at the end, instead of the top, being a sliding slab.

When they discovered this mysterious sarcophagus, it was tightly sealed.

When they finally got the sliding slap up, the sarcophagus was empty....?

Another puzzling thing from ancient

Egypt

, has to be the mysterious empty sarcophagus found in Egypt (coffin) of the Pyramid builder Sekhemkhet who ruled from 2649 B.C. to 2543 B.C., more than 3000 years ago.

Sekhemkhet is not really mentioned that much, I do wonder why?... If anything he should be known for, how he wanted his sarcophagus (coffin) to look, there is none like it, not even in the ancient world.

Not only is it completely unique, I personally think it also reveals a knowledge which I find rather peculiar.

The pyramid known as "the buried pyramid" is said to belong to Sekhemkhet, it was abandon shortly after it was begun. It is suspected that it was because of Sekhemhet's short ruler ship of only around 6 years.

If it had been finished it would have been larger than Djosers pyramid, reaching 70 meters into the sky. But sadly his ruler ship was too short to complete this masterpiece.

In another part of the buried pyramid complex, they found a mummified child, but no one else, No pharaoh. They suspect the body of the pharaoh was moved...

A rather odd thought, considering they also suspect that the child was Sekhemkhet's son. I have never head of a pharaoh or the pharaohs family merely leaving a child behind, like it was nothing...

I personally think there is a lot that can be studied, so I am recapping a lot in this post.

The ancient Pyramid builders are the most unknown pharaohs of their time. Creating massive pyramids, which some refer to as tombs (?)... And suddenly the last Pyramid builder had left earths bondage to join the souls journey among the stars, taking a supreme knowledge with him.

Abydos Temple

As I mentioned in a previous post, last year I spent my birthday in Egypt. When we (mom and me) arrived at Abydos temple (been there many times), it was the same time, as when I was born. A more spiritual alignment :)

The very first details that attracted me, was not inside Abydos temple, but outside in the open court.

The details that Sety I had his artist create, are so beautiful that they always make me speechless.

From a long distance I could see that there were more details than normally, so I just headed straight for them...

Off course these relief's make me sad, because they portray a mixture of military and political scenes.

1 Picture.

Yes.. Your eyes are not deceiving you. The enemies hands are presented to the king (Pharaoh). I personally think they would cut the hands of the fallen (dead) enemies.

It would be illogical for them to cut living enemies hands off, merely because it would be worth more to have them as a work force, that's how people of power, think, at least back then...

Today we just call it political as well as defending ones own country outside ones country, a national security threat, and what not - same propaganda.

2 Picture.

Was something that I haven't seen before, to this level of details. Right beside relief/picture number 1, I saw the next scene. I was quickly drawn to the details of the horse carriage wheel.

It looks like a head is attached to the wheel, no it is not a real head, it is decoration for the horse carriage. Most likely carved of wood, they have the same conquering scenery portrayed on their thrones foot stools.

Below this text you can see a close up of the center of the wheel, which surprisingly showed more details.

The front part of the temple, especially the outside always portray war and political scenes.

If you look at Luxor temple, the front art is the political scene, whereas in Edfu temple you also find these scenes in the first court, like here in Abydos.

Edfu temple functioned much like a court room for the people in ancient Egypt.

His story reminds me a lot of

Mr. Cayce suddenly lost his voice due to Laryngitis, and while it was hypnotists that began to work their cure on him, he would begin to speak in a very different manner. Referring to himself as 'we' and speaking more in, should we say 'out side terms'.

Interestingly it was his hypnotist Layne that suggested Edgar Cayce should provide his trance state to the public. Layne is said to have stated that after hearing Edgar Cayce describe his own and other's health problems, as well as describing the cure.

The Sleeping Prophet

The readings that he gave to the public while he was under a trance, is what gave him the name of the sleeping Prophet. And his mysterious knowledge as well as words, drew thousands of people to him, and still today.

He truly was a remarkable man, with a universal gift.

Despite being a devoted Christian he still believed in reincarnation, or his unconscious did, because he would mention to a lot of people, that their soul lived before.

The Secretum Secretorum (arabic: Kitab Sirr al-Asrar) was a treatise known
as Secret of Secrets, or the book of the secret of secrets.

It was an important Latin translation of an Arabic document dating to the 10.th
century (but it is proven to be older around 500 AD), the document contained
sacred knowledge about many different subjects such as Astronomy, Astrology,
Alchemy, Magic, medicine as well as topics on Ethics and much more.

Does this document really belong to the Great Hermes?

Personally I would say no. To establish this, one must know more about Hermes
as a real person, distinguish fact from fiction.
Another point I would draw attention to, would be the fact that Hermes seems to
descend from the Egyptian god Thoth. The Greeks took many of the Egyptians god
and goddess, but they changed their names and attributes, as you can read

I do question if Aristotle wrote it, merely because of its use of poetic lines as well

as codes. I think Aristotle might have been more blunt, directly to the point in some

logical manner?

Behold Abydos Temple, Where Osiris Dweels.

You have probably seen these very fascinating hieroglyphics on the internet, many people have added a theory about alien encounters in ancient day.

On my birthday this year, I choose to go to the ancient Temple known as Abydos Temple.

As I was walking around, one old Egyptian man came over to me and pointed the hieroglyphic out, I quickly hit the 'shoot' button on my camera.

This is a short post about what I saw.
Is there really proof of alien encounters in ancient days?

Seti I and Anubis (Duamutef if you ask me) Walls of Abydos.

I truly love Abydos temple, I do not understand why, but I am like many, drawn to it. I would humbly bend before the king that created this temple, whose name is Seti I.

Seti I was known for his supreme ruler ship, not only had he been a general of the older king's army, but he also kept true to the older visions of harmony between man and nature. Seti I had a son whom we today know as the greatest king of ancient Egypt,
Ramesses II

(Ramesses the great - Some are under the misguided illusion that he is the same king, who is mentioned in the holy bible - This is NOT TRUE! Due to simple fact of history it is impossible that it was Ramesses II that the holy Bible talks about. You must read the fact about Ramesses II from university papers and other scholars that truly have worked with this. Not just a person with theories and grandiose ideas, which offers no hold in reality, what so ever).

Because of the internet, and a lot of misguided information, people are under the impression that these hieroglyphics are clear evidence of ancient astronauts.

Actually the carving is NOT a proof of alien encounters or even a helicopter of any sort.

It is, a set of perfect mistakes which makes it look like a helicopter, and other sophisticated transportation vehicles from our own time.

The perfect mistake is made up by how the old kings, placed their own name to older monuments. Ramesses II would see how his father Seti I placed his own name into the much older buildings of Tuthmosis and his descendants.

I haven't seen Seti I ruining his ancestors names, like his own son would come to do. In Ramesses II time the writings on the wall become obscure, because it looks like he had the priests 'stamp' in his name as hard as they could. Whereas before Ramesses II time, they would put much more care into creating the hieroglyphics themselves as they did the big images and temples. Ramesses seem to have flunked in beauty yet mastered the grandiose side to human nature, "it's mine and it's big".

I am not the first to know, that these helicopter

hieroglyphic symbols are a mixture of ancient

kings, trying to out do each other, creating a

perfect example of a re-carving.

The Wishing Cup from Ancient Egypt

Have you ever heard of the wishing cup that was found in Tutankhamen's tomb?

The cup is really a perfect representation of what the object stands for, and it might prove to come from another place...

These are the 3 questions that this short article post will analyze.

The Cup's Description,

The artistic hands that formed this chalice was truly a great artist of their time (?).
Carter chose to call it the Wishing cup, because the chalice bears the inscription of a wish or a prayer.

The Wishing cup can be found in the Cairo museum in room 20, which is the room where you find the things found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. It is carved alabaster and has a height of 18.3 CM. It is beautifully carved with hieroglyphs that are painted with blue color.

I find the translation very interesting, and it makes me more sure, that there is probably more to this relic and where it might come from...

Translation of the Rim:

"Live, thy Ka, and mayst thou spend millions of years, thou lover or Thebes, sitting with thy face to the north wind, and thy eyes beholding felicity."

What I found here seems more complex than I can explain in a blog post, but I will give you some hints. First off as I have said before, all hieroglyphic can be translated much further than what is normally done or shared.

One version
"Amun-Ra, Lord of the world, Lord of the thrones of the two lands, the two horizons of east and west, Lord of heaven beloved king of upper and lower
Egypt Nedukheper-Ra, give life, to the son of Ra Amun-tut-ankh, everlasting"

Interpretation of the Wishing cup

Every aspect of this chalice is filled with a sense of timelessness. From the chalices elegant Lotus shape to the cups handles themselves, it is a true masterpiece.

The handles are made up by different numeral symbols as well as centering on a timeless mythology from ancient Egypt.

The sitting man is central, and his name is Heh and he stands for 1,000,000. Not only should he be seen as a number, but he is also essential to the cosmos mythology, being one of the eight pillars that hold up the heaven. You should not see this as a person, or a personification of such, because it is more like an idea/ a concept which belongs to the concepts of time, which is not a factual calculation which we tend to judge it today.

You are right, this is pretty complex and cannot be fully explained in a blog or on a website, but I can allude to it ;)

Did the wishing cup belong to Tutankhamen?

It is well known that a lot of the things that were found in Tutankhamen's tomb, did not belong to him. It is also widely known that the tomb was robbed in ancient times.

With this is mind, we find some very unusually and beautifully made alabaster things, which have always made me wonder.. When I first heard that, way back, my first thought was: If the tomb had been robbed, then why is there still a lot of gold which could easily have been carried out.
The answer to this is pretty simple, they filled up the tomb with other peoples belongings. This also explains another question which bugged me back in the days.

Seti I one of the greatest kings (pharaohs) of his time, and after. His body is on display in the Cairo museum, and his alabaster sarcophagi (coffin) is found in England (I really have a dilemma with the fact that an eternal resting place have been messed up so much), the question that I have always asked; where is Seti I belongings. I suspect much of his belongings were made in alabaster if possible, because of his sarcophagi (coffin).

Tutankhamen seems to have followed his father and stepmothers use of material, which was mostly gold, the direct connection to Atum and the Sun.

I have the personal opinion that this beautiful relic the wishing cup, most probably belonged to the Pharaoh (king) Seti I.

And I see it as a ceremonial chalice that was used in the temple of Abydos. In my mind the cup looks almost perfectly made for the Blue Lotus drink, those colors would have bounced off each other.

The Great Pyramids of Giza

There are still a lot of people that have only heard of the great Pyramids of Giza, never being aware of the many dozens of pyramids that this holy land contains.

The great Pyramids are the most prominent of them all, because of their tremendous sizes and the mystery of how they did it and why? But they are hardly the only large pyramids in Egypt, merely the most spoken of.

Around 138 pyramids have now been identified in Egypt (2008), and there are probably more yet to be found, some have even been lost. The pyramids you find in Egypt are many different sizes, some are exceptionally large while others are very small.

The Great Pyramids of Egypt

As I said above, the Pyramids of Giza are not the only Pyramids in Egypt, nor are they the only big pyramids in Egypt.

One of my favourite pyramids belong to a very old pharaoh Zoser, his pyramids were constructed by a very famous genies known as Imhotep. The later Greeks loved Imhotep so much that they raised his status to a god.

The Pyramids of Nubia, Sudan

If we keep following the Nile southward, we hit the northern boarder of Sudan. Africa is a beautiful place with a lot of different beautiful people and cultures, and Sudan is one among the many.

Sudan's northern part is filled with Pyramids, they are mostly referred to as the Nubian Pyramids, and they are like big cemeteries with pyramids as tombstones.

Nubian people are classified as the most beautiful people on earth, and I surely agree. The hospitality that they posses go beyond any I have ever seen. I really like the Nubian people, and I wish that they would be respected and accepted by their fellow country men.

The Nubian Pyramids are a remarkable sight by themselves. The sheer harmony of their geometric construction is fascinating, and despite being on a much smaller scale than the Egyptians, they illustrate a true mathematical consistency in their architectural construction.

Some of the Nubian Pyramids have pylons attached to them, as you would find in the Egyptian temples. The Nubian seems to have combined the pyramid construction with the front part of a temple construction, which is the visual part of the tomb above the ground. When entering the tomb, it has much the same feel as the Egyptian tombs. They took all three parts and stuck them together as their eternal resting place, whereas the Egyptians would divide them up.

There are so fare 220 Nubian Pyramids, one must wonder what more these parts of Africa holds? I do hope the fighting among people will stop.
