- É como uma janela aberta para os mistérios de Deus



- Diz-se que um ícone é escrito porque reescreve passagens
bíblicas



- É escrito com traços simplificados e cores vivas porque
fala da fé e de um jeito novo e diferente de viver, ao jeito de Deus e do seu
Reino. Fala então de outras lógicas, diferentes das nossas.

Quando se completaram os oito dias, para a circuncisão do menino, deram-lhe o nome de Jesus indicado pelo anjo antes de ter sido concebido no seio materno.

Em qualquer ícone que encontramos, o que mais nos cativa,
são as cores vivas que dão dinamismo ao que nele está representado… como se a
personagem ou acontecimento estivessem ali vivos, bem presentes, diante dos
nossos olhos. 



Qualquer pintura reflecte mais ou menos luz dependendo do
tipo de pigmento utilizado. Mas, no caso do Ícone há sempre algum rigor na

Uma Janela para o Invisível!...



É uma das expressões mais usadas pelos nossos irmãos ortodoxos para falar dos Ícones.

A intenção principal do ícone não é apelar à nossa sensibilidade artística da beleza física. A beleza, na cultura dos ícones não é determinada pela forma natural das figuras, mas pelo sua individualidade espiritual, pelo seu ser mais profundo segundo a fé.

Depois do Pentecostes, esse momento em que os discípulos de
Jesus receberam a força do Espírito de Deus, a Ruah, certamente terão
continuado com algumas das tradições judaicas do Antigo Testamento/Antiga
Aliança. Algumas delas eram memória vivas do que haviam vivido com Jesus, de
modo muito especial a Ceia da Páscoa judaica.

A bordadura presente em grande parte dos antigos Ícones elaborados na madeira tem um significado muito importante.
É como que a armação de uma janela.
E tal como uma janela serve somente para ver através dela, sem nos determos demasiado nos pormenores do “vidro”, também o Ícone tem essa finalidade principal, que sirva para se ver através dele.
