May 20, 2010 was a memorable day for Wayanad, Kerala. Wyanad Muslim Orphanage (WMO) had organized a mass wedding function where 60 Muslim, 10 Hindu and one Christain couples tied the knot.

WMO is one of a kind in the area of social service in the state. Swami Aswathy Thirunal delivered a memorable speech on this occasion. He emphasized the importance of this wedding festival which was set as a model to the dowry ridden marriage system prevailing in Indian society.

This meeting was attended by the Central and State Ministers, renowned Muslim religious and political figures.

Swamiji stressed that the need of the hour is the dynamism in peace and tolerance. He called upon all peace-loving people to come together irrespective of their religious beliefs. Every religion has a minority of anti-social elements who indulge in extremist activities, using religion as a cover. The majority of the peace-loving should channelize their power against these anti-social elements. This way we will be able to bring an end to terrorism.

The points put up by Swamiji was well received by those who attended the function.
