Some weeks ago Azure Functions' team released (as a preview) custom handlers.
From the official doc:

Custom handlers are best suited for situations where you want to:

Implement a function app in a language that's not officially supported.

Implement a function app in a language version or runtime not supported by default.

Provide more granular control over the function app execution environment.

I think this is a really powerful feature and you can actually find a lot of articles showing how to leverage it to write functions in Go, PHP, etc
Now I'm going to add yet another programming language to the list: Jolie.
Again, from the documentation:

To implement a custom handler, you need the following aspects to your application:

A host.json file at the root of your app

A function.json file for each function (inside a folder that matches the function name)

A command, script, or executable, which runs a web server

In addition, you have to supply all is needed for your function to run because we are going to deploy to a stateless environment (obviously JDK support is required on the target platform as Jolie is Java dependent).
I added a full Jolie distribution (what you find in JOLIE_HOME path) to my function project in jolie_bin directory and modified the launch script to point to it.

So my host.json looks like that:

{
  "version":  "2.0",
  "httpWorker": {
    "description": {
      "arguments": ["jolie_services.ol"],
      "defaultExecutablePath": "jolie_func_executor.sh"
    },
    "extensionBundle": {
      "id": "Microsoft.Azure.Functions.ExtensionBundle",
      "version": "[1.*, 2.0.0)"
    }
  }
}

where jolie_services.ol actually contains the function's code.

Jolie native support for HTTP protocol makes it really easy to write a "webserver".

Unfortunately there's a problem because Azure Functions Host communicates with custom handlers on a dynamic port, on which your application has to be listening.
This port can be read by the FUNCTIONS_HTTPWORKER_PORT environment variable but when you define an InputPort in Jolie the Location parameter is static, for instance:

inputPort MyInput {
    Location: "socket://localhost:8180"
    Protocol: http
    Interfaces: MyInterface
}

Dynamic Locations aren't yet available in Jolie but there's a workaround using a constant.

In Location's definition, we refer to this constant:

Location: AzureFunctionsPort

In the launch command, we read the environment variable and pass it to our Jolie program setting the constant value:

-C AzureFunctionsPort="\"socket://localhost:$FUNCTIONS_HTTPWORKER_PORT\""

Here you can find a simple working example with detailed instructions to start from scratch.

Jolie's capabilities work well with Docker and you can find an example in the official documentation here.
So deploying a Jolie service in a Docker container is quite easy.
Now it's time to go onboard with Kubernetes ;-)

This is only a little demo on how to set up a Kubernetes environment on your PC (thanks to minikube) and build up a scalable clusterized version of Jolie's "Hello world" example.

You can find Jolie examples on this GitHub project.

What we are going to do now is to transform "01_getting_started" sample (which simply twices a number) into a powerful Kubernetes scalable app (doing exactly the same thing, but in a cool way).

If you object that this is very unreasonable, I have to remind you that it is perfectly aligned with today's software industry standards. :-P

To be honest I'm not going to explain what Kubernetes is and how it does what it does, so please go read a tutorial or the beautiful official documentation.

My favourite starting point is this (it's not a joke).

First of all, let's set up your box!
You need:

Linux (tested on Ubuntu 18.04) or Windows 10 Pro (tested on 1909) with HyperV support enabled

Jolie language

Docker

Minikube (on Win10 I suggest you to force version 1.5.0 installation to avoid some fresh annoying bugs)

Ok, ready?

Now you can clone this repository and go ahead.

STEP 1 - Create a Docker image containing your Jolie application

As previously said this is very simple following the official documentation and using images available on Docker Hub.

This is our Dockerfile to build an image exposing the "twice-a-number" server on 8000 port:

FROM jolielang/jolie

EXPOSE 8000

COPY server.ol server.ol

COPY twiceInterface.iol twiceInterface.iol

CMD jolie server.ol

Before creating the image we have to configure Docker's environment to point to minikube, otherwise images wouldn't be available to your local cluster.

Linux

$ eval $(minikube docker-env)

Win10 (on PowerShell)

PS> & minikube docker-env | Invoke-Expression

Ok, now we can build our image (if not specified commands are the same on both platforms, don't miss the final dot):

$ docker build -t jolie-k8s-sample .

and verify all went as expected:

$ docker images

REPOSITORY                TAG                 IMAGE ID

jolie-k8s-sample          latest              2df927523a30 ...

STEP 2 - Create a Kubernetes deployment

So we are ready to use our brand new image in a Kubernetes deployment, setting replicas parameter to 2.

This means Kubernetes ensures to have always 2 pods (the furry blue little animals Phippy introduced to you) running our container.

And after a few seconds you can see your pods up and running:

jolie-sample-deployment-655f8b759d-bmzk7   1/1     Running   0          4s

jolie-sample-deployment-655f8b759d-mq8cn   1/1     Running   0          4s

Exciting!

STEP 3 - Expose deployment by a service

Now we have 2 running instances of our (micro)service but we lack a communication channel to reach the container's port 8000 from outside of Kubernetes virtual network.
Kubernetically speaking this is a service.
Just follow the minikube tutorial and type:

$ kubectl expose deployment jolie-sample-deployment --type=LoadBalancer --port=8000

$ kubectl get services

NAME                      TYPE           CLUSTER-IP      EXTERNAL-IP   PORT(S)          AGE
jolie-sample-deployment   LoadBalancer   10.109.47.147   <pending>     8000:30095/TCP   13s
kubernetes                ClusterIP      10.96.0.1       <none>        443/TCP

So there's a service exposing pods' port 8000 on cluster's port 30095.

To make this visible from your host you have to go through a "minikube service":

$ minikube service jolie-sample-deployment

|-----------|-------------------------|-------------|-----------------------------|
| NAMESPACE |          NAME           | TARGET PORT |             URL             |
|-----------|-------------------------|-------------|-----------------------------|
| default   | jolie-sample-deployment |             | http://192.168.99.100:30095 |
|-----------|-------------------------|-------------|-----------------------------|

* Opening service default/jolie-sample-deployment in default browser...

Close the automatically opened browser and let's go on.

Step 4 - Invoke micro services from client

As final step we want to call the Jolie service running inside Kubernetes cluster.
Open client.ol with a text editor and modify line 5, setting IP and port of exposed minikube service:

Location: "socket://192.168.99.100:30095"

Save and try:

$ jolie client.ol
jolie-sample-deployment-655f8b759d-mq8cn -> 10
$ jolie client.ol
jolie-sample-deployment-655f8b759d-bmzk7 -> 10
$ jolie client.ol
jolie-sample-deployment-655f8b759d-mq8cn -> 10
$ jolie client.ol
jolie-sample-deployment-655f8b759d-bmzk7 -> 10

As you can see we are getting the right response (client.ol has an hardcoded 5 value as input) and so we demonstrated Kuberntes can at least multiply an integer by another integer!
But server.ol running on containers was modified from the example's original to write out the hostname too:

  getenv@Runtime( "HOSTNAME" )( hostname_env )
  result = hostname_env + " -> " + number * 2

And that allow us to verify that:

our Jolie server is running on multiple pods

the infrastructure is hidden to clients

calls are automatically managed and balanced by Kubernetes engine (output shows each call gets its response from different pod)

BONUS if you need more power to multiply number 5 you can scale up your deployment:
$ kubectl scale deployment jolie-sample-deployment --replicas=<N>

You set up a Kubernetes cluster where you deployed your brand new containerized application.

You set up an NGINX based Ingress to expose it and manage TLS termination.

You need to handle a lot of routing rules (growing from some to thousands) and, more important, you need automation.

I assume steps 1 and 2 are done, so let's dive in rules management and its automation.

The first option Kubernetes gives you is this cli command:

kubectl edit ingress <your_ingress_name>

An editor comes up you can modify the ingress resource, when you save the configuration is automatically updated.

That's ok and really useful, but not suitable if you need automation, and a DevOps guy should automate everything! :-P

So I've found resources can also be patched, supplying a json string.

As an example you can create a file with json patch definition:

[{
    "op": "add",
    "path": "/spec/rules/-",
    "value": {
      "host": "<your_url>",
      "http": {
        "paths": [
          {
            "backend": {
              "serviceName": "<your_dest_service>",
              "servicePort": your_service_port
            }
          }
        ]
      }
    }
}]

And apply it to your resource:

kubectl patch ingress <your_ingress> --type json -p "$(cat <your_json_file>"

This appends the new rule to rules array in ingress definition, see JSON Patch format details here.
The great advantage is that you focus on a single rule and the process can be easily automated.
I faced some more difficulties when I first tried to remove a rule.
Obviuosly you can edit the entire ingress definition, manually remove the lines regarding the rule to be removed and save.
But what about automation?
This is my solution using again Kubernetes' patching capabilities.
The main idea is to leverage the JSON Patch replace operation.
For instance this command removes the first rule from your Ingress:

kubectl patch ingress <your_ingress> --type json -p "[{\"op\": \"remove\", \"path\": \"/spec/rules/0\"}]"

Unfortunately JSON Patch supports only positional path for arrays, so my problem was to get the target rule position inside rules array.
I achieved that using jq command:

kubectl get ingress <your_ingress> -o json | jq ".spec.rules | map(.host == \"<url_to_be_removed>\") | index(true)"

So, putting all together, this Bash script does the trick:

#!/bin/bash
index=$(kubectl get ingress <your_ingress> -o json | jq ".spec.rules | map(.host == \"<url_to_be_removed>\") | index(true)");
kubectl patch ingress <your_ingress> --type json -p "[{\"op\": \"remove\", \"path\": \"/spec/rules/$index\"}]";

Now you can use this technique in your favourite automation environment.
As an example I've created a couple of Ansible roles, but the real work is done by Bash scripts (no Ansible modules available).

This guide is meant for poor Windows' users struggling to get Ansible working on their workstations, like me few days ago :-(
Scenario: you're involved in a brand new cloud project on Azure, you're trying to make things work with Ansible and your company provides you a Windows 10 ™ PC, but Ansible DO NOT RUN on Windows.
In addiction you're lazy and bored to start yet another virtual machine, just to type "git pull" and "ansible-palybook" :-D (by the way your precious SSD is getting dangerously full).
And you do want your memory greed Visual Studio Code, with autocompletion, syntax highlight, all-known languages modules and other silly stuff.

First of all, let's install WSL (if you don't know what WSL is, google it):
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install-win10
I assume you installed an Ubuntu 16.04 upon WSL.
Quite simple, isn't it?
Now you should install Ansible and all needed Azure modules.
There's a simple guide on Azure documentation portal, let's follow the Ubuntu's section.
Uhm, did something go wrong with pip's version and other Python related stuff?
Ok, you may have SSL certificates issues or pip/Python versions hell (damn it).
Try to substitute this command:

sudo pip install ansible[azure]

with:

pip install pip==9.0.3 --trusted-host=pypi.python.org --trusted-host=pypi.org --trusted-host=files.pythonhosted.org --user
pip install ansible --trusted-host=pypi.python.org --trusted-host=pypi.org --trusted-host=files.pythonhosted.org --user
pip install azure --trusted-host=pypi.python.org --trusted-host=pypi.org --trusted-host=files.pythonhosted.org --user
pip install ansible[azure] --trusted-host=pypi.python.org --trusted-host=pypi.org --trusted-host=files.pythonhosted.org --user

and cross your fingers, it worked for me.
And now the last tips to make you an happy hybrid environment developer.

Ansible complains you're reading the config from from a world-writable current working directory? Go there and follow the instructions you find here to properly mount Windows disk.

You edit files in your WSL home directory from Windows and you loose ownership, permissions, etc ?
Go there and there (a bit technical).

And finally enjoy coding with VS Code
I had to specify C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsl.exe as integrated shell path (bash.exe didn't work for me).

Come dargli torto!

Nessun container, nessun host, just works!

http://www.massimobarbieri.it/it/Tecnichese/

See you.

Only few weeks with ICS, it's time for Jelly Bean on my Folio!
I just followed the instructions on this post (only cache wipe required).
This ROM is CyanogenMod 10 based and works really fine.

By the way I did the entire procedure within the tablet, no PC need, just download, reboot and flash!

On of the most powerful is websocket technology:
WebSocket is a web technology providing for bi-directional, full-duplex communications channels over a single TCP connection.
Nice, isn't it?
By the way I am learning Python and first examples are very boring, so I decided to try something really interesting: Autobahn.
From official site: Autobahn provides Open-Source client and server implementations of WebSocket and WAMP.
I thought this could be a good start point to improve knowledge of Python and websockets at the same time.
So I pointed to http://autobahn.ws/python/getstarted and followed the instructions, but on my OpenSuse 12.1 I couldn't get Autobahn installed.
In this first post you can find how to get it running.
The two suggested methods (from package and from source) have the same problem, so I'll use the package method, because there are less instructions to write and, you know, I'm lazy.
You should use the following command:

easy_install autobahn

but this produces errors about missing headers during compilation.
With a little help from Google I found how to get rid of these errors.
You have to install Python's development package (and GCC, if is not already installed):

zypper in python-devel
zypper in gcc

Now you can go on to the first example, which is perfectly working.
If you copy and paste the code into your editor you just have to modify line 29 in myclient.html removing the whitespace in </script> tag.
I'm reading the tutorials and I'll be back with something useful soon (hope so).

Chor, a brand new language

Yes, yet another programming language: Chor
As the name suggests Chor is a new programming language for communicating systems, based on choreographies ( I'm not talking about dance of course :P ).
There are many reasons to give it a chance.
First of all is a creature of my brother Fabrizio, then because it's very promising and has solid formal foundations.

PHP and WebSockets
Sembra che non sia più sviluppato attivamente.

WebSocket Server and Client library for PHP

The best (and currently only) way to install Ratchet is using composer.

$ php composer.phar install

Semplice, leggero, stilabile, tutto ok.
It doesn't work if I click an image before the page has finished loading.

This is not a bug, but a side-effect of unobtrusive scripts of this kind.

http://www.newgroove.it/articolo.php?item=1530&q=ROLAND-SPD-S

Invece ho provato una soluzione Javascript only, sfruttando jQuery.

Questo è il codice finale:

$(document).ready(function() {

    initLightbox();

    setTimeout("ShowThumb();",500);

});

While JavaScript provides the
load
event for executing code when a page is rendered, this event does not get triggered until all assets such as images have been completely received.

NodeJS e PHP, just for fun

Ho cominciato a cercare articoli e tutorial in rete e qualcosa ho combinato :)

usare mod_rewrite per mascherare le richieste a Node.js come descritto qui, oppure sfruttare mod_proxy (esempio qui );

get_option('siteurl')."/?constriv=ok";

Rootare il Folio;
di guide ce ne sono una marea;

Scaricare e flashare un firmware pre-aggiornamento
ho usato la recovery della FolioMod più o meno come dice qua  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961826 ;

opzionale: flashare ClockWorkMod per Folio;

scaricare e flashare Cyanogen per Folio per update a 2.3.5;
avevo provato a mettere direttamente la 2.3.7 ma non riuscivo a flashare;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933989&page=53

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps

aggiornare a 2.3.7;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933989

enjoy.

  $googleplus_id = '110373656360084352107';
$url = 'https://plus.google.com/_/stream/getactivities/'.$googleplus_id.'/?sp=%5B1%2C2%2C%22'.$googleplus_id.'%22%2Cnull%2Cnull%2Cnull%2Cnull%2C%22social.google.com%22%2C%5B%5D%5D';

per recuperare i dati basta usare file_get_contents (a patto che in php.ini abbiate settato allow_url_fopen):

$output = file_get_contents( $url );

La stringa JSON ottenuta va "ripulita" come indicato nell'articolo citato:

$json = substr( $output, 4 );
$json = str_replace( '[,', '["",', $json );
while( strpos( $json, ',,' ) ) $json = str_replace( ',,', ',"",', $json );

$feedArray = json_decode($json);
foreach( $feedArray[1][0] as $currPost ) {
echo 'Autore: '.$currPost[3].'<br>';
echo 'Titolo: '.$currPost[4].'<br>';
foreach( $currPost[11] as $postLinks ) {
echo ' -> Titolo link: '.$postLinks[3].'<br>';
echo ' -> Descr. link: '.$postLinks[21].'<br>';
echo ' -> Url link: '.$postLinks[24][1].'<br>';
}
echo '<br>';
}

That's all!

Nota

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url );
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1) ;
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
