It's been a long time since I did a What I'm Eating Wednesday. Too long! And with this blizzard upon us (seriously, we are in the middle of a blizzard as I type this), what can be better than a hot bowl of yummy home made soup? And this one is ridiculously easy to to put together. With only five main ingredients, it an easy weeknight or snow day meal that you can prepare and go play in fluffy

Over the past few months I've been fortunate enough to participate in some really great Color Challenges with the Digital Designers team on Etsy. One of their frequent promotions include a Facebook Hop, and I'm entering my very first one for the upcoming Valentine's Day season. With over THIRTY designers contributing a spectacular range of digital art, you are sure to find EXACTLY what you

There's something about my life that I haven't really brought to this blog: I had breast cancer. I am not ashamed that I had breast cancer. I am not upset that I had breast cancer. I was not trying to hide having breast cancer. But I did want to keep the topics I post here pretty relevant to the theme. Well, it's a new year and I find that I have much more to talk about than just design

We got the tallest Christmas Tree I've ever had this year. This weekend, we finally got around to decorating it. Doobie was pretty tuckered out by the time all of the ornaments were hung. Now that our home is decked out and trimmed, it's time to place some presents under that giant Douglas Fir. Earlier in the season, I came across an image for the popular "Four Gift Rule." But this one

What happens when you combine The Very Hungry Little Caterpillar with an affinity for mustaches??? We all have our fun from time to time with a fake mustache, and even those sporting their best waxed handle bar for the Movember movement definitely enjoy their time with their own whiskers. This momma wanted a colorful nursery for her little man, but she never imagined we would combine her

Now that fall is upon us in full force, it's time to get ready for the feast of Thanksgiving Day! My little owly friend is making his appearance in a different way this year. I usually display a full size banner above my desk, but decided that my door could use a little dressing up. So I made a mini banner for my door adorned with some great little dried corn, strung together with jute. Read on

It's been a busy few weeks, with two parties and a wedding to create for. You'll get to see some of what I created soon! Right now though, it's time for another Digital Designers Color Challenge :) This months color palette was a grouping of some really pretty oranges, cyan blue, and soft red. Perfect for the fall weather we're having here in the Northeast. I wanted to create something fun and

My latest custom project just exudes glamorous simplicity! When Ashley asked me to create something fun and classy for her company's weekend getaway, I had just the theme in mind. She wanted a pocketfold invitation that was not only professional but also sleek and completely custom. I immediately thought of all of the Art Deco themed advertisements for The Great Gatsby. I created lots of

I recently joined an amazing group on Etsy filled with tons of talented designers. There is no shortage of digital goodness where these fine artists are concerned. Once a month they host a color challenge, to get everyone's creative juices flowing and to display that talent for the world to see. So here's my first entry: Retro Cherries Printables! The Fall weather is making things a little too brisk for my tropical blood. That's why I'm spending it reminiscing of our beach vacation last month... and these delicious ice cream sandwiches! At least a few days a week, my taste buds crave something new. So of course I head to the internet, starting out at Pinterest or looking through some of my favorite food blogs for inspiration. On this

The last few weeks have been busy, busy! Taking some time to get away amidst the projects I've been working on was a welcome rest. More on that later... Now that it's back to the grind, dinner has to be something I don't stress over. The yumminess I'm about to share is absolutely perfect for that. I peruse Pinterest often for dinner ideas and other treats. After all, you have to keep your

Ah, sweet potatoes! Next to avocados, my favorite item to add to most meals is a yummy sweet potato. Even without seasoning or toppings, just simply baked (or sometimes I cheat and make them in the microwave) and cut up, they are a great addition to most any dish. Steak, some sautéed veggies, and a sweet potato = heaven! Once in a while though, I get to make them the main event in my mealtime

It's been a while, but I've been very busy enjoying life and my loved ones. Lots of fun has been had and I'm glad to have been a part of it all! Beginning with the Fourth of July, and going right on through the following week. Visiting some of my favorite places, enjoying music, and being entertained in so many ways - life is definitely good! My love and I rarely get to spend much time

It's hot in New Jersey, I mean sweltering. And I don't usually mind the heat. The humidity is totally doing me in at the moment, so staying cool is key. Part of that is getting some yummy coolness into my belly. One of the best things I have made with ease recently is Mango Salsa, to top my pan fried chicken and rice. Light, a little sweet, a little tangy, a whole lot of yum! Perfect to throw

When my favorite little girl was about to turn two, her mommy said to me, "We have to have a Buzz Buzz Party!" The theme would have to be girly and encompass all the cuteness of Farrah's beloved stuffed friend, Buzz Buzz. Lots of little details went into this collection: Stripes, Polka Dots, Poppy Flowers and the sweetest little blushing bee ever! The original patterns called for custom paper

A few weeks ago, I was having this massive craving for English muffins with butter and jam. Now, since I have pretty much cut out grains, the muffin was a no go. And although jam has less sugar than jelly, I still didn't want to have something artificial. Enter: compromise. So I caved on the muffin, but the compromise was topping it with butter from a grassfed cow's milk and home made jam.

Fruit and I have always had this amazing love affair. Summer is my favorite time of year for many reasons, but especially because I can get my berry fix with the freshest fruit out there. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries - the list goes on. If you were to talk to anyone who has rung up my groceries, you'd probably hear stories of the girl who buys every kind of berry

Back in November, I was contacted by sweet Glenda regarding her precious Gia's 1st birthday party. She had already begun planning the best Minnie Mouse theme for her beautiful little girl. She wanted to include elements with polka dots and a damask print. While I had previously created most of the products she requested, I had yet to create some of them. Water bottle labels, party blowers,

My days are not completely consumed with creating event details. I'm also a huge foodie! Making dinner every night is one of my favorite parts of the day. Especially when I'm trying a new recipe. I have a great list of recipes on my Pinterest Boards: Get Into My Belly and Busy Body.  When I get to try out something new, it's exciting. Especially when it tastes as yummy as I

When Gina told me she wanted to throw her husband, Joe a surprise bash for his upcoming 30th birthday I knew we were in for some fun. The words "epic" and "ultimate" were used very often when she spoke of her hubby's secret event. Cindy and Keith asked me to create a unique invitation for their upcoming co-ed baby shower.  They wanted something whimsical that included some elements of their crib bedding theme. I had never heard of a "Peek-A-Boo" shower until Cindy mentioned it, and had fun hiding that element in the main invitation.  The couple also wanted to include a "Raffle Ticket" to let the guests know
