It seemed high time to refurbish my neglected Facebook page, and use it to tell you about my new Kindle novel. It's an Edinburgh social comedy called Ursula, and it begins with a bit of counterfactual Episcopalian history. It is full of love, music and summer excursions and is just the thing for dispelling December cynicism, although it tackles some big issues too. If you enjoy it, please tell your friends! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O2C4C5Q?%2AVersion%2A=1&%2Aentries%2A=0

I'm giving a paper this Sunday at 5pm in St John's Princes Street, on the life, ministry and theology of its founder Bishop Sandford of Edinburgh (1766-1830). It explores the interplay of evangelical and episcopal beliefs, the dissemination of Enlightenment and Romantic ideas between religion, politics and literature, and the relationship of Scotland and England - I defy you not to be interested in any of those things! It's free, there'll be a glass of wine, and it's followed by some great music for those who wish to stay for evensong.
