Johanns. I worked with Emily Brummund and Bellevue Chamber of Commerce President Megan Lucas to identify individuals to invite, and secure the time and location. Mrs. Lucas was able to work with Bellevue University to provide an ideal location in the Student Center's, Quiet room. To ensure the best results in the short time provided I turned to Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force (Ret) James McCoy, Gretna Mayor Tim Gilligan, a Vietnam veteran, and the local Military Officers Association President Pat Jones. Together we were able to build a coalition of veterans who represented the Active Duty, Guard & Reserve, retired, and those in transition from service. These 22+ individuals collectively possessed over 500 years of military experience. After a brief round of introductions and opening comments from both Sec. Johanns and Sen. Thune we shared concerns in areas of: Strategic Posture, aging weapon systems, Cyber Security, and VA issues. Both Sec Johanns and Sen. Thune were receptive to what was said and offered their thoughts and concerns on these matters.

Campaigning

What a great start to the weekend. Just tonight I was called about the race with a push type poll. This is where they ask you questions to influence your decision. From the calls I received on the questions asked during the poll it seems as if there is a bit of deception involved. I know a big surprise there. Hang in there as this will all be over in the not too distant future.

***** IF you want to know more about what the pollsters are trying to do just tell them you are undecided...... then they may ask you more questions! We have been walking and knocking on doors in Gretna, the Chalco area, Papillion, and Bellevue, and are now visiting some homes for the third time. Just this past weekend I visited for the second time with a family who was planning a graduation party in the spring when I first met them. Now the conversation was about sending this same child off to college. It is very rewarding, and more than a bit humbling, to have such experiences. I look forward to visiting with more voters in the coming weeks as we move on to the General Election.

Super Saturday

This past weekend we held a Super Saturday and it was a tremendous success! We were able to distribute over 1500 pieces of literature throughout Gretna, Papillion, and Bellevue. I had the opportunity to visit with people I had spoken to prior to the Primary and to thank them for their support. The weather was great and the Offutt Air Show provide a fantastic backdrop to the whole day. I want to also say I am very humbled by all the time and effort the volunteers put forth, for without them this could not have happened. I started with this Blog and then moved onto a traditional web site. Then I started to connect by using Facebook, and this has been a tremendous tool to keep in contact with many family members, friends, and constituents. Today I have added yet another social networking tool and am very excited by the ability to integrate multiple web presences to one another. This promises to be an exciting time, and I am looking forward to seeing just what can be done for a campaign in conjunction with the more traditional methodologies.

Millard

The past couple of days I have been out walking in the Chalco/Millard area. Just after the Spring Red& White game I was driving back on Cornhusker Highway and the gentleman pulling up beside me asked for Yard Signs. Of course my first thought was whether or not he lived in the district! Turns out he does, and his yard is now proudly displaying 2 of the newest signs, one in front and another in back (lives on a golf course).

For those of you wanting a sign they are in and ready to be delivered.

Spring Game

It was a beautiful day for football, and both the son and I had a great time in Lincoln. The stadium was sold-out and a record for a spring game. In my opinion the Huskers are going to do much better this coming year, and the players are going to have more fun along the way.

Of course it was back to the campaign trail after the game and we had a lot of fun talking with many who had just returned from the game too. I also had a person waiting at a stop light in Lincoln who asked for yard signs for his home, he of course lives in the district. So it was a great day all the way around!

Brief Break

I will be taking a brief break in campaigning on Saturday as I am taking my son to the Spring Game!

GBR

Home Schooling

I would like to take a brief moment to pass along my view on home schooling. To be brief I believe that if a parent wants to provide for their child's education via home schooling then they should be afforded that opportunity. Looks like it is going to be a wild couple of days. The NWS is calling for thunderstorms, rain and snow mix, and high winds.

It has been a while since my last update as the weather had been fairly nice. During this time the wife, volunteers, and I have been out walking the district. It has been a wonderful experience to listen to all of you and here your concerns.

Now it is getting to be crunch time with the Primary almost here. We will be out talking with as many of you as we can, and putting up our signs. If you would like a sign just let us know and we will be happy to take one out to you.

Take care to secure your deck furniture this weekend, and I look forward to meeting you.

Spring

Once again spring is here!

The weather has been nice this week and we have been taking full advantage of it. Both Jacquie and I have been out walking in Papillion, Gretna, and Bellevue. It has been a great time to meet with many and to hear their thoughts on what is, and isn't, happening in the Legislature.

I have also been out visiting with business owners and individuals at local meetings to share my platform and to hear what the citizens have to say. It has been an amazing and dynamic time. There are only 52 days until the Primary and I am out working and walking to meet as many of you as I can.

If any of you would like to have me come and visit with you just drop a line and I will schedule a time.

Thank You for all your support!

Website

I now have a "Traditional" Website up and running!
