I purchased these pads for my four year old son. The pads work as designed, protecting him from needless scrapes as he learns to roller skate; however, they are a little too large for him. They fit well enough that they are usable, especially when he has on a jacket. When it gets warmer out they might be a little more loose on him though. Of course, by then he may have grown a bit more and fit into them better anyway. Regardless, they do fit well enough to work and they work well. The pads are well worth the money spent to purchase them and will hopefully help my child to learn to roller skate without too much fear of falling.

If you have a very young child, these pads may not fit, as they seem designed more toward the 5+ range of children. Some of this also depends on the size of your child. I bought this based on previous reviews, but, when i got it i was even more pleasantly surprised at how thick this thing was. the one and only thing that i dont like and its not a major issue, just my personal preference is that you can not just take the key out and leave it unlocked, it has to get locked. but, then that is also a good feature because you never have to worry about whether you feel like it is locked properly as long as you have your keys. I do however wish it was about another foot longer to wrap around wider trees. Im not sure what im going to do with 5 keys and a key code card in case i lose 5 keys, but, like the fact that should that ever happen, i pretty much have this lock for a lifetime, probably longer than the bike itself. i have owned a pair of the "street cuff" bike lock for many years with few problems. the main concern is that the barrel key is a 8 sided key which is a more complicated key system than the traditional 6 barrel ( six cuts on the key ) style. the key shows wear and tear to the point of complete metal failure. i have had to have the keys replaced 2 times in 5 years because of the wear and tear. being that this is an 8 sided barrel key the local key shop is unable to make a copy. i had to have master lock order the keys from me from beijing(!)

maintenance on the lock includes occasional use of a metal lubricant to keep dust and other particulates out of the mechanism which can cause the lock to be difficult to operate.

the new pair of "street cuffs" i ordered from amazon had a couple of cracks in the plastic casing, this being only a cosmetic problem i was willing to live with the slight imperfection. when i notified amazon of the not so perfect condition of the purchase i was given a $10. refund. i was very happy with the win-win resolution to this small complaint.
