Bike Riding The C&O Canal

We have been riding bike a lot on the C&O canal the last few weeks, we have never really spent a lot of time there before. There is so much history and things to see, not to mention it’s a lot of fun.

The first two pictures are from the Paw Paw tunnel, and the second is from near 4 locks area west of Williamsport MD.

I have been so busy the last few months I have forgotten about this blog, I have changed jobs and took a few classes, I have just been too busy to take time to post anything. Needless to say I am going to try and get back to regular posts on here.

I have been working around the house a lot the last few weeks, I have reverted back to cabinet making as a hobby I suppose, I get a lot of fulfillment from it and I just enjoy doing it, Most of what I have been doing is for myself and had to be country in nature, I had a good bit of distressed oak laying around that i used for some things. My wife is very artistic and has mastered the art of the distressed paint look, so all in all it has become a joint hobby between me and my wife.

Sorry I have not posted in a while I have been busy with work and all. I have not had any time to do much with my blogs the last few months. Since todays a rainy day with not much else to do I decided to spend a little time working on the computer. My wife and I went hiking at local park the other day this is an overlook facing the Potomac river.

Today while outside I spotted something in one of the shrubs on the side of my house and noticed it was a praying mantis, we have always had a lot of them around here, I just thought this was neat watching him for a moment. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Sad Day Here

Today our cat Cocoa had to be put to sleep , she had cancer and it had spread to far for them to do anything with, she was a mere 8 years old but she had the best life since she was so spoiled. she will be dearly missed by us. hope everyone else had a better day.

We spent the day at Gettysburg yesterday, we have been there before but this time we took some time to walk through the town some, We had a pretty good time looking at all the things we missed the last time we had been there.

Sprinklers and Electric

Here is a shot of what I found recently on a job I am doing where someone in the past had taken and secured their wires and conduits to the sprinkler system and bottom of the HVAC equipment. What a nightmare we had repairing and re-routing all the wire and conduit.

Vacations Over

Well actually I was working out of town but I am home once again, Thats one of the perks of my job , getting to go to some unusual places or just places I have never thought about going to. I just spent a few days in Chincoteague VA. I have never been before nor have I ever thought about going. I can say I will be returning for some R&R this summer when its warmer. It was nice to see this time of year just the same.

I am tired of cold weather this year, normally winter doesn't bother me a whole lot but I guess as the years roll by my tolerance for the cold has gone away along with my youth. I was looking for a picture today and I found this from this past summer and I recall how hot it was on the day we took them.I cant wait until spring.

Since I had the day off and my boys were stills sleeping I headed up the road to a nearby nature preserve to try out my new camera. I didn't see much wildlife in the woods but I enjoyed a peaceful walk in the quiet since not another person was in sight,

Thats probably about as exciting as my day will get for the last day of 2010, other than eating later on. Be safe if you are out tonight.

I just thought this was nice this cat was saved out of kindness, something this world needs more of.

Shoddy Work

Every time I see something like this I think it can't get any worse, It never ceases to amaze me at how many times I see something that could have caught fire or electrocuted someone because the person who did the work had no clue what they were doing. This one here really surprised me that it didn't go up in flames. For those who don't know in the NEC # 10 wire is suitable for 30 amps, im not going into d rating wire size or anything just a general rule of thumb sort of thing here, anyhow this person had # 10 wire between a 100 amp meter and a 100 amp panel, now when said panel gets a load on it and this one had a lot it draws more and more current through the # 10 wire and the 100 amp main breaker sure isn't going to trip since its rated for that much current, so what happens? well that small wire acts like a match.

I would like to apologize to any fellow Entre-card droppers I missed over the last few days. We took a small getaway to Williamsburg VA and the motel we stayed at said (high speed internet) however their idea of high speed VS mine is somewhat different. I was able to do some drops but the time it took was way too long and I was there to have fun. We had a great time its a beautiful place and I think we are going back next year and spending a week then. Its so big 2 days doesn't allow you to experience half of it.

We did one of the ghost tours it was fun but just walking around the place at night is a true experience being that it really gives you the old world experience and makes you feel as though you stepped back in time.

Today was our last real day of vacation and we went down in Virginia to visit the Safari park my sister in law suggested we see. It was a very fun day I might add, my kids are a little old for the petting zoo sort of thing but this was fun and rather interesting to say the least.

We all had a good time feeding all the animals and just watching them.

Now I suppose the truck needs all the spit washed off the sides and windows from all the animals.

Back in time

Yesterday we made a trip through the back roads of West Virginia we had seen this gas station-souvenir shop a few years ago. My mom had come down from NY and wanted to see this place so we set out to go see it.

Its surprising walking in this place its almost like stepping back in time 50 years. It reminds me of a place back home when I was a child one of those hardware/grocery store your one stop for all. These days all you have is W@lm@rt my least favorite place that I avoid even if it cost me a few extra $'s.

There is a small park area near this store with a lot of old equipment from years gone by. Very Interesting place to see.

One neat thing about my job is some of the cool places we get to see like today we had to look at some work on a catwalk above a stage hope we get the job would be interesting to say the least.
