Sonny John Moore, better known to you and me as the leader of brostep, Skrillex, has made it into the Forbes List at the age of 24. It’s been a good year for the DJ, who won three Grammys and performed at over 150 concerts spread across 16 countries in the past 12 month. The Los Angeles native’s quoted earnings rack in at $15 million as of May 2012, placing him at number 92 in Forbes’ “Celebrity 100″ list, which is snuggly between Larry The Cable Guy (91) and Tina Fey (93).

Following last year’s report by The Wall Street Journal that Tiesto makes $20 million a year, he’s ratcheted that up to $23 million to make the #84 spot. His secret? Constant touring. “The Dutch DJ grosses $250,000 per night on average; low production costs let him keep the bulk of that sum,” reads the Forbes spiel. “With over 100 shows in the past year, he’s the top-earning electronic musician on our list; he also benefits from a strong social media presence that includes over 1 million Twitter followers and 12 million Facebook fans.” According to Forbes’ ranking, Tiesto is one peg more Powerful than Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling – deduce from that what you will.

Swedish national treasure of Call On Me fame Eric Prydz aka “Pryda” has been working on a full length album since 2005, and was originally scheduled for release in 2007, but after complications with the records label he decided to cancel the release. Now after the passing of many years the album is set to be released on May 21st on Virgin Records. You can pre-order the album here. Disc 1 of the release is comprised of new and unreleased tracks from the Pryda catalog while discs 2 & 3 are made up classic tracks, all of which have been mastered and sequenced by Pryda himself. The CD box-set is coming in at €17.99 which may seem like a lot, but don’t forget; you’ll be getting 37 top quality tracks for that price, and thanks to Virgin records and Hype Machine we are able to stream the entire first disc of the release.

Talon has shown us again that the Breach Audio crew cannot fail. This bangin’ remix more than a bit different than the post hardcore original but, despite the drastic difference in genre Talon had managed to keep all the essential elements true to their original sound. The ability to effectively remix something from such a far-flung type of music really speaks to Talon’s talent. It’s been a while since I posted anything from Rollz, so I’m glad to present you with this free download of The Projects, a funky liquid tune with great melody that features some trance-like chords in it. This track is really relaxing but you could also dance to it.

The track also features snippets from a 1989 interview of Frank Zappa, conducted by CNN’s Larry King (you can watch the full interview here. Also, if you listen closely, you may be able to recognize some samples from Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing. Clever.

The maestro of electro house, Wolfgang Gartner, has just put out a preview of his upcoming track “Flexx”, stating that he will release the track in three to four weeks. Wolfgang uploaded the preview in response to a barrage of negativity he received from fans disgruntled at his most recent productions, which were far more progressive house sounding than the style he is known for. Gartner responded to the petty criticism on his Facebook, writing, “I have 6 more [tracks] finished, and none of them are progressive house. They’re all electro house, some of them are “my old style” and some of them are me trying to create yet another new brand of electro. Stop trippin. I didn’t change genres.” I believe “bitches be trippin’” is the message Wolfgang is trying to get across.

“Flexx” is an example of a return to the signature Wolfgang Gartner electro house sound. It’s a bit minimal at times, and I can’t help comparing this track to deadmau5‘s sound, particularly, “The Reward is Cheese”. Wolfgang’s classic organ sound is present, as well as familiar synths from tracks such “Space Junk” and “Shrunken Heads”. Overall, I couldn’t be more excited by the fact that Wolfgang has six tracks finished, and I am eagerly expecting the release of “Flexx” as well as news about the other completed tracks.

This track has been floating around the EDM world ephemerally these past few months. It’s made appearances at Ultra via, Nicky Romero as well as David Guetta on the mainstage. It appeared in Romero’s Essential Mix. And now the preview has finally arrived, and the formless, previously nameless unearthly identity of this entity has been illuminated. “WTF?” is the collaboration between Dutchmen Nicky Romero and ZROQ, and it is shaping up to be quite the massive tune. Light chords bathed in reverb resonate mysteriously until the screaming, explosive drop takes off. Nicky’s new style continues to get edgier and edgier, and this track is no exception. Watch the video preview below and snatch “WTF?” on its official release date of May 28.

‘Pryda’, both the alias of Swedish DJ and producer Eric Prydz, and the name of one if his three Stockholm based lables, released this new smashing and inevitable clubhit titled ‘Allein’ just in time for summer.

As destined when Prydz’s releases under and through Pryda one can expect good paradigm progressive house, while also diving into sub genres such as electro house and tech house.

PLAYMA is at it again. This time bringing their sound across the pond to release on USA based imprint, Play Me Records. Exhibiting a distinct improvement in production quality, the new EP is definitely a step forward for the trio. The ‘Creepy EP’ adds a bit more American-style filth to their dynamic portfolio with enough gnarly Brostep bass to keep the kids moshing, while mixing in enough melody to keep the tracks from getting too obnoxious. Expect to hear this one smashing across dancefloors everywhere once it drops on May 28th.
