Banned Releases From Beatport: Ultra, Dim Mak, Armada, Magik Muzik, Big Beats & 36 More Labels Caught Cheating!

Beatport recently posted an article on their blog about the consequences and costs of manipulating the charts, some artists and labels still don't seem to care about those consequences, charting seems to be too important. Many releases were caught trying to cheat on beatport to make their songs get in the Top10 and Top100 charts.

At first you might think only smaller labels and less known artists would do such a thing, but you're wrong. Some of the worlds' most influential labels like Ultra, Dim Mak (Steve Aoki), Armada (Armin Van Buuren), Magik Musik (Tiesto) have been caught and got their releases taken down.

Here's a list of labels that have been caught only once cheating to get their tracks in the charts:

Dim Mak, Magik Muzik, Coldharbor Recordings, Cinq 7, Housesession Records, Shinshy Records, Zero Urban Records, Fluo, 2sonic Records, Starside Records, C4C Recordings, Marcro Records, Hysterical, FFRR, Hollister Records, Sinitation Records, Miniaturerecs, Twin Turbo Records, Marfil Records, Preston Recordings, Amazing Records, Sphera Records, The Groove Society, PRMD, Bonnies Records, Parlophone UK, Zouk Recordings, Armind, Material Records, Sound Division Records, Samui Recordings, Maracaido Records, Evolution Music, Euphonic Records, Move Rec, Enormous Tunes, Molto Recordings and Groovejet Records.

Some of them don't learn from their mistakes and have been caught more than once like:

Big Beats Recordings, Tiger Records, Oxyd Records and Armada Music.

The banned releases includes artists like:

Galantis, David Guetta, Avicii, Mark Knight, Chuckie, Robbie Rivera, Thomas Newsound, Blasterjaxx, Armin Van Buuren, Joe Ghost, Dakota, Denis Sheperd and many many more!

Something is surprising though, Spinnin' Records is either clean or didn't get caught yet, maybe they are more legit than people actually think!

To verify that this list is actually true and accurate, we verified a few banned songs and you can see that most of them removed the beatport links from their soundcloud and added only the itunes links instead. If you look for the track on beatport, you get an error message saying:

The question is:

Are the repercussions for cheating heavy enough?

What consequences do labels actually get from doing that (except get the track taken down)?

Is having their release banned from beatport enough?

It seems pretty light to me and it doesn't seem to prevent some of them from cheating again and again.

Tiësto's New Album Unveiled, 'A Town Called Paradise' (Full Stream + 2 Music Videos)

Tiësto's fifth full-length album (and first album released through a major label), A Town Called Paradise, will be available in every music stores worldwide on June 17. Kaskade Gets Taken Down by Soundcloud & Announces He Will Create His Own Music Platform

Earlier this week, Soundcloud has taken down 70% of Kaskade‘s music off his account due to copyright. He received 32 emails from the popular music streaming website notifying him that he didn't respect their terms and conditions.

Thanks to major labels, Soundcloud is now not only taking action on up and coming producers but also a few big artists, like Kaskade. Ultra (Kaskade's label) is now trying to bring back the music on his account. Lucky for Kaskade, someone with influence has his back, but smaller producers don't have this luxury.

We were also struck by soundcloud's "ban-hammer" earlier this year, our first soundcloud account got taken down for publishing remixes.

Kaskade announced that he will move forward with constructing his own portal where he can share what he likes when he likes.

I think artists and labels should do the same but which good alternative do we have?

Our friend Joel "deadmau5" Zimmerman goes on a new Coffee Run and this time he doesn't bring just one guest, he has two legendary guests: Dillon Francis and Skrillex!

This coffee run "runs" for a whole hour and a half, they have a lot to talk about, the first part is with Dillon and later on the run they pick up Mr Sonny Moore aka Skrillex.

They talk about many things like gambling, what they are working on at the moment, music (obviously) and many random funny discussions.

While the Big Room sound might be slowly fading away (and I'm sure nobody's complaining about that), I can see many EDM producers using Big Room elements in other genres and I think that's what "the big room sound" actually needed! Creating hybrids and mixing genres is what the EDM scene needs!

It is very unfortunate that not so many EDM producers still make Moombahton and Moombahcore, they seem to all go for the Twerk & Trap or Big Room vibe which is not really a bad thing but if like me, you like those 110 BPM Moombah vibe, nothing can replace a great Moombahton banger!

Graphic designer "Simon Zingerman" from Sweden is running his own business and releasing “Fun, trendy and original Children’s books” called "A Skyborn Kids Book Series".

You must be wondering, why is Electrokill Media featuring children books? Because earlier this year Mr. Zingerman released a new interesting book in his "Future Little" series called 'Future Little DJ'. That's where it gets interesting!

Steve Angello recently favorited a twitter post about the book and if you have kids, it's fun to teach them animal, vegetable and fruit names but when you're done with that, if you want to give your kids passions for music, this can be pretty cool.
