<p style="text-align:justify;">The components on a PCB are joined to the conducting paths by following two different techniques including the traditional “Through-hole-technology” and conventional “Surface-mount technology”.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">With the former technology, each electronic part has a wire attached to it which is passed through the drilled holes in the board and linked to the interconnecting circuits on the other side of the board. With the surface-mount technology, short J-shaped or L-shaped pins or legs on each electronic piece are connected to the printed circuits directly with a solder paste.</p>
