Texas Instruments LMZM33604/LMZM33606 Power Modules are power solutions that consolidate a 4A (LMZM33604) or 6A (LMZM33606) DC-DC converter with power MOSFETs, a shielded inductor, and passives in a low-profile package. This power solution needs as few as four external components and removes the loop compensation and inductor part selection from the design process.

The 16mm x 10mm x 4mm, 41-pin, QFN package is simple to solder onto a printed circuit board and provides for a compact, low-profile point-of-load design. The devices’ feature sets comprise power good, adjustable soft start, tracking, synchronisation, programmable UVLO, prebias start-up, selectable auto or FPWM modes, as well as overcurrent and overtemperature protection. The modules can be configured as negative output voltage for inverting applications.

Typical environments include industrial, Medical and Test Equipment, General Purpose Wide VIN Regulation, and Inverted Output Applications.

Texas Instruments INA592 High-Precision, Wide-Bandwidth E-Trim Difference Amplifiers comprise of a precision operational amplifier (op-amp) and a precision resistor network. The device provides superior tracking of resistors (TCR) and maintains gain accuracy and common-mode rejection over temperature, as well.

The devices offer unique features such as low offset 40µV (maximum), low offset drift (2µV/C maximum) high slew rate (18V/µs), and high capacitive load drive at up to 500pF. These characteristics make the device excellent for high-voltage industrial applications. The device allows operation in single-supply applications via the common-mode range of the internal op-amp that reaches to the negative supply. The device has the option to operate on single (4.5V to 36V) or dual supplies (±2.25V to ±18V).

The device offers a difference amplifier for the base of many common circuits, and without employing an expensive precision resistor network. The device is specified for operation over the extended industrial temperature range of –40C to +125C, and is offered in an 8-pin VSSOP surface-mount package.

Analog Devices visitors will see a series of demonstrations showing ADI technologies in cutting-edge power conversion designs at the upcoming PCIM

The company has built an ecosystem with partner companies, particularly to serve its customers in producing innovative power-management solutions in areas such as battery management systems. Visitors to the stand will see designs created by industrial partner Stercom Power Solutions, providing expertise in advanced battery management systems tailored for energy storage applications. Also shown will be innovative open platforms from the Fraunhofer IISB, which has created the foxBMS. This has been formulated as the ultimate open source development platform for battery management, applicable to industrial systems such as energy storage and guided vehicles (ESS/AGVs) and automotive applications (EV/HEVs).

A demonstration will show the company’s offering for system integrators and designers operating in the field of energy storage in high power systems, where they are challenged to deliver ever-higher levels of conversion efficiency. The demonstration will feature a reference design for a 30kW DC-DC charger for high power energy storage, developed by partner Stercom. The power converter is a high voltage, high-frequency design employing SiC technology that targets both static energy storage and electric vehicles, yielding 99% power conversion efficiency resulting in a 30% smaller charging unit.

Company specialists will be available to engage in discussions around today’s power conversion technology challenges, at all levels. The company’s partner program offers a route to efficient turnkey solutions while, for designers seeking to optimise high voltage, high-frequency power converter circuit topologies, the company’s staff will be available for in-depth discussions. Areas of special interest include isolated gate driving, and power management ICs (PMICs). They can provide a high-performance combination of parts that will optimise the output of chargers and inverters based on SiC and GaN power MOSFETs. Pairing digital iCoupler technology with innovative PMICs results in designs with lowest EMI and highest efficiency. The company’s product family offers a fully characterised route to fastest time-to-market, with lowest R&D risks.

The company will engage in the Exhibitor Forum series of technical presentations at PCIM 2019. At 13:40 on 7th May, ADI’s Stefano Gallinaro will deliver a talk entitled “Battery Management for Energy Storage Systems: innovations in the ecosystem”. The Forum is located in Hall 7/507.

Flex Power Modules has introduced the PKE-A series of DC-DC … More >

Flex Power Modules has introduced the PKE-A series of DC-DC power modules for the industrial and railways sectors, expanding its product range to satisfy a growing need in these sectors. The modules are presented in sealed and encapsulated packaging, to guarantee they will work reliably when subjected to moisture, dust, severe vibration and other harsh conditions.

For industrial applications, the PKE8000A series offers highly reliable, high-performance and rugged DC-DC solutions in the industry-standard 2″ x 1″ form factor, operating from 12V, 24V or 48V supply voltages thanks to its ultra-wide-input range of 9V to 75V. Giving up to 40W of output power at up to 91% efficiency, the series also provides MTBF of up to four million hours and input-to-output isolation of 2250VDC. The devices satisfy the latest IEC/EN/UL62368-1 safety standards.

For railways applications, the PKE7000A series is packaged in the same 2 x 1″ industry-standard form factor, but this time works from a 43V to 160V input, producing up to 30W. This makes it ideal for the bulk of onboard demands running from 72V and/or 110V nominal supplies, most often found in the railways sector. The devices comply with the EN50155 railway standard and offer MTBF figures of up to five million hours to meet the most exacting applications.

Olle Hellgren, director of Product Management and Business Development at Flex Power Modules, commented: “The PKE-A series is just one of a wide range of new products we are introducing to support Industrial and Railways applications, and is a crucial part of our previously announced push into these important market segments.”

Analog Devices LTC3315A Synchronous Step-Down Converters highlight dual 2A monolithic synchronous step-down converters working from a 2.25V to 5.5V input supply in one package. This makes the device excellent for space-constrained applications with strong performance demands. The device uses constant frequency, peak current mode control at switching frequencies up to 3MHz with a minimum on-time as low as 25ns. This enables both bucks to realise high-efficiency and fast transient response in a very tiny application footprint.

The device works in forced continuous or pulse skip mode for low noise or Burst Mode operation for high efficiency at light loads. The common buck switching frequency is 2MHz and can be synchronised to an external oscillator via the MODE/SYNC pin. The device can regulate outputs as low as 500mV. Features include precision enabled thresholds, a PGOOD signal, output overvoltage protection, and thermal shutdown. They also offer output short-circuit protection and up to 100% duty cycle operation for low dropout.
