Murata has collaborated with Cypress Semiconductor to develop the Type … More >

Murata has collaborated with Cypress Semiconductor to develop the Type 1LV (CYW43012) solution that is claimed to be the lowest power, small form factor Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module. This device improves battery life in smart home products, wearables, and portable audio applications. When comparing Type 1LV (CYW43012) to the Type 1DX (CYW4343W), power usage in the former is around 54% lower in DTIM 1, 60% in DTIM 3, up to 50% for 2.4GHz RX, and 28%t for 2.4GHz TX.

Based on the Cypress CYW43012 combo chipset, the ultra-small dual-band Wi-Fi 11a/b/g/n/ (11ac Friendly) +Bluetooth 5.0 module offers data transference rates up to 78Mbps on Wi-Fi and 3Mbps on Bluetooth. The solution supports a wide range of popular processors including PSoC6, i.MX RT, STM32, i.MX, and IP Camera platforms, as well as Linux and RTOS based applications.

The module size is 10mm (L) x 7.2mm (W) x 1.4mm (H). It will have a reference antennae design for FCC/IC certifications and CE conducted test to give a lower development cost and quicker time to market.

“Teaming up with Cypress allows us to leverage our combined expertise in delivering breakthrough solutions that are game changers for the market,” said Koichi Sorada, product manager, Connectivity Solutions for Murata Europe. “Using our proprietary packaging and miniaturization technologies, Murata leads in developing turnkey, transformational tools that ease integration and enable connectivity to help bring IoT to fruition. With this lowest Wi-Fi power module, we now enable a new class of products that were previously designated for Bluetooth.”

“The Cypress CYW43012 combo solution continues its forward momentum in the market as OEMs demand key benefits including best-in-class throughput and power efficiency,” said Brian Bedrosian, vice president of marketing for the IoT Compute and Wireless Business Unit at Cypress. “Our collaboration with Murata in integrating the CYW43012 delivers a compact, pre-tested solution that has helped position Cypress as the supplier of choice for OEMs delivering high performance, long battery-life IoT solutions in applications including cameras, music, healthcare, and security.”

New Yorker Electronics has released N2Power Solutions’ new Optimized Power … More >

New Yorker Electronics has released N2Power Solutions’ new Optimized Power Systems Manufacturing. With a focus on providing improved value to the manufacturing process for its customers, the company now delivers on any power supply for an application – includes building the subassembly.

The company’s environment-friendly designs decrease energy consumption, produce less waste heat – yielding reduced AC loads and improved reliability while lowering operating costs.

Whereas the N2Power has always offered modifications to its standard power supplies to satisfy customer need, the plan ensures improved performance of the N2 units with no need to change build requirements.

Instead of a customer having to buy an off-the-shelf unit and design the metalwork upon which to build up all the individual parts from scratch, their solution allows the company and NYE to supply a full end solution. This decreases assembly time, decreases BOM and simplifies the entire process by turning cluttered line items into just one line item.

This means their customers, such as OEMs, receive complete custom power assemblies without having to purchase mounting brackets, nuts, bolts, stand-offs, screws, cables, connectors, external fans or other accessories.

Master Bond UV22DC80-1Med is a single component, nanosilica filled compound … More >

Master Bond UV22DC80-1Med is a single component, nanosilica filled compound offering a UV and heat curing mechanism. As well as passing USP Class VI tests for biocompatibility, it also meets ISO 10993-5 for cytotoxicity, making it excellent for many applications in the medical device industry.

As a nanosilica filled system, the product provides low shrinkage upon cure, outstanding abrasion resistance and dimensional stability with a low coefficient of thermal expansion of 30-35 x 10-6″/”/C. It is a reliable electrical insulator with a volume resistivity of more than 1014Ohm-cm and dielectric constant of 3.85 at 60Hz. The compound is optically clear with a refractive index of 1.52.

The UV curing process for system takes only 10-30 seconds at a 365nm wavelength and 10-40mW/cm2 of UV output. The heat curing process can be initiated at 80C, making it extremely desirable in applications concerning heat sensitive components. Optional post curing at 125-150C for 15-30 minutes will improve the glass transition temperature to over 125C. This system is not oxygen inhibited.

The system has a low viscosity of 500-3,500cps at 75F (~23C). It bonds favourably to a mixture of substrates including glass, metals, ceramics and most plastics. This compound has extremely good resistance to various sterilisation methods including autoclaving and many chemical sterilants. It is offered for use in 30cc EFD syringes, half a pint, pint, and quart containers.

Skyworks Solutions has revealed its newest family of mini circulators for 5G infrastructure. Circulators, which perform a critical role in protecting RF elements from excessive signal reflection, help remove performance risks and protect vital equipment. Given footprint constraints in 5G, solution size is also an important factor. Leveraging proprietary materials and processes, the company’s ultra-small circulators occupy up to 50% less board space than competitive products without compromising functionality — making them perfect for 5G massive MIMO and small cell applications.

The company’s mini circulator family represents just one portion of the company’s expansive 5G infrastructure portfolio, which comprises best-in-class high-efficiency drivers and small cell power amplifiers, advanced LNAs with integrated high-power switches and a wide range of individual RF devices. By giving key base station partners comprehensive platforms, the company facilitates an essential first step in the deployment of 5G and ensures the standard’s rapid commercialisation.

“Skyworks is excited to once again be at the forefront of leading technologies enabling 5G,” said David Stasey, vice president and general manager of diversified analog solutions for Skyworks. “Our ultra-compact, high-performance circulators demonstrate how we are leveraging our unique capabilities to enhance network efficiency and deliver higher capacity with greater coverage. When combined with our mobile and Internet of Things solutions, we are truly empowering end-to-end 5G connectivity.”
