My favorite band in the universe right now is doing everything they can to keep my excitement levels brewing. Aside from impressing the socks off of everyone in Cannes recently from the likes of Kylie and Zac Efron, the band has just released a few new tunes today which will be featured on their debut album "9am to 5pm, 5pm To Whenever" which are below.

You can bet too that Team EQ will be at their show in Paris this month on June 22nd. We plan on invading their dressing room and getting them to sign any and every piece of merch available - that's how much we love The Young Professionals here at EQ.

So sit back and take in the audio sensory joy that can only be made by The Young Professionals and enjoy these new tunes and their little invite to the Paris show this month at La Gaite Lyrique...

May I present some fantastic MDNA Tour clips from opening night in Tel Aviv. From the looks of it, I think we can expect some real BLONDE AMBITION on this mega production. I personally can't wait until I see the show next month in Dublin from the golden circle - mental.

Visit myMDNA on YouTube for the full throttle effect that lady Madonna is bringing us on the MDNA World Tour this year.

The name YADi has been filtering excitement online with demos and such for quite sometime, although it’s been fashioned as quite low key, the response from wherever it’s glistened has been of the wholly favourable kind which has seen to help elevate her from unsigned to recently signed.

Infact, I already brought her forward as one to watch, but seeing as now with full label backing behind her, she’s been able to refine and showcase her beautiful chugging alternative pop tunes to the maximum, I feel a maximum post of EQ Discovery is warranted.

As “Guillotine” jumps from the one of the first demos that peeked up online around two years ago, it’s now been given some polish and a suitably eclectic otherworldly themed video treatment that’s spellbindingly good.

Fans of Marina / La Roux should indeed begin to go nuts for YADi too, as I think she’s just warming up a little and is going to be quite a one to keep the eyes and ears keenly looking / listening on.

By Mandy Rogers / Photo: Ashley Haber

Last year was practically a summer of Baby Monster here at EQ, we became enamoured with the American duo’s rousing electro indie pop anthems that first glittered through-out many outlets on the internet and went on to collate as their self titled debut album.

By way of re-fresh: Amazing tracks such as “The Fear Of Charlie Sunrise”, “Mr Success” and “Russian Lights” struck particular chords with us for their overall vibrancy and general happy-go-lucky synth lustre.

Daniel Sternbaum and Marty Larson Xu are set to fire up the Baby Monster machine once again this summer with a new EP release “City Of Lovers”.

This new material is result from a separation of the Baby Monster team whose objective was to spend time apart to explore new perspectives and thus in doing so enrich their foundation of sound further, from their previous debut album.

On re-grouping the duo return full-steam, lead track off the EP “City Of Lovers” is a jewel of summery synth shimmer, a graceful fan of chillwave twinkle with a light fluffily aerated floating dream pop vocal that glides majestically over the glistening synth lines that brings on a beam of happiness.

So if you haven't noticed, EQ has gone all Poptronik!

So what's the deal with all this Poptronik stuff you ask?

Well, for the longest time, I've longed to put on a music festival that I myself would love to go to. Although Lovebox and the iTunes Festivals are great, for me personally, they are missing something. So I decided to partner up with my friends at Aztec Records and we created the Poptronik Festival, which is only a short three months away in the beautiful unspoiled Catalan beach town of Sitges, Spain.

You can get a taste for what we are doing with the Poptronik Festival by visiting www.poptronik.com and quite honestly - it's quite the massive undertaking, but if you want a bit more of an in-depth feel of what Poptronik as a new music brand is truly all about and the new music platform we are trying to build, take a listen to and download our Poptronik Hot Fuss podcasts series below.

What we are aiming to do in this podcast series is highlight some of the fun festive going-ons surrounding the Poptronik Festival and the Poptronik brand by talking to Poptronik artists, playing songs that emulate what Poptronik is all about and most of all - just lettin loose and being a bit silly in the studio.

Our first two Poptronik Hot Fuss podcasts featuring Bright Light Bright Light and our "This Beat Is Poptronik" album special we did for Cherrytree Records awhile back are available below. We're hoping to have a new podcast done every few weeks or so too and we hope you enjoy our little recorded get-togethers!

By Mandy Rogers

Having been with Florrie’s music from practically the beginning when the web went crazy for “Call 911” and “Panic Attack” from a little known Xenomania house band drummer.

Florrie has steadily revealed over the past couple of years a growth in sound and stature that’s down to sheer hard work, determination and drive which has certainly been key to delivering the glowing extent of her gifted multi-talented musicianship and creativity.

From the early days, the Florrie independent brand has developed, matured and strengthened with every turn and as with such developmental milestones, picks up a new phase, Florrie is ready to ink a major record deal in the very short future.

So we come to the last spin on her independent releases, the “Late EP” which has just hit the Internet and digital outlets.

The four track offering, showcases throughout a sleek accomplished sound, opening with big song “Shot You Down”, although it’s no way what you’d term lyrically challenging, it’s selling point impacts more for a memorable chant to pick up audience engagement, and it does so brightly in Florrie’s tried and tested French disco tasty sound that has been a Florrie key signature mainstay right from the get go two years ago.

I’ve actually been quite a fan of Florrie moreover, when she’s seen to push the boundary with a bit more power behind her. The “Late EP” power track falls to “I’m Gonna Get You Back”, Florrie, Avril rock-chic is back amongst the thunderously rapturous drum beats, cymbal crashes and electric guitar licks, further forging that although an accomplished disco candy princess on the outside, a little devilish power princess lurks inside.

Back to the familiar territory of the Florrie disco wall of sound on “Every Inch”, big and bouncy, it’s the party time Florrie doll swinging into action with big hair and hot pants, dancing with fists in the air stomper to get dance sweaty too.

The EP closes on a note of pop brilliance on “To The End”, elementally gelling in all of Florrie's abundant skills and shining exuberantly with an air confidence that befits an independent artist about to turn major.

Check out some short previews below or shoot off to Florrie.com to hear the complete “Late EP” stream

By Mandy Rogers

With the abundance of Scandinavian pop forever springing up a fruitful crop, I do of course in the first instance get to listen to an amazing amount of Swedish pop, but lately I’ve found myself engaging with all things Norwegian. Most notably I have been quite hooked on Ex A-ha front man Morten Harket’s brilliant new album “Out Of My Hands”, having played this out lots since it’s UK release, I now turn to see what else is new, fresh and Norwegian good.

Formerly known as Norwegian indie synth pop trio Lorraine but now re-christened as Blackroom, have recently delivered a new album called “Lighthouse”.

The band stir up a sound that is more power charged than their Scandinavian counter-parts, it’s very Hurts vocally brooding, whilst on the sonar landscape breathes both stabbing synth lines, “What Is It That You Want” through indie electro dance “Falling Down”, “Control” and beyond into dreamy techno ambience “XTC”, “Frances” & “Witness”.

I have found, “Lighthouse” to be an enjoyably intriguing and interesting album with an indie jagged electro edge for the most part, that offers a collection of songs to absorb and grow with in a new-wave approached ear friendly way.

by Raj Rudolph

Well for one thing, I'm so glad that Scissor Sisters are back. I just can't go on in a world without them and their brand new video for "Baby Come Home" only proves that their brand of feel-good pop rock still continues to strike a chord with all of us queers, queens, freaks, fairies and everyone else in-between.

What I love about "Baby Come Home" is it brings back a sense of nostalgia from the Scissor Sisters that we enjoyed from their first album in tracks like "Take Your Mama Out" and "Laura". Sure, we love it when they get their kiki on in tracks like "Comfortably Numb" and "Shady Love", but when it comes down to some good ol fashioned rock and roll, there's nothing we love better than our Scissor Sisters going hard on a feel-good down-home rock jam - it also helps when Jake Shears puts on a sailor outfit while doing so as well.

Anywho - watch the video - it's great fun and I promise you this - you won't take your eyes off of this visual treat that only Babydaddy, Jake Shears, Ana Matronic and Del Marquis could offer up today.
