Let’s talk delivery models! No, I’m not talking about attractive people who drop off packages at your place of business. I’m talking about Technology Delivery Models.

Your vendor offers a wide range of technology services, including development, support, service, consulting, quality processes, and excellent security standards! But, what about Delivery Models?

You need to stay on schedule and on budget, with well–tested, proven delivery methods and processes. And, your needs will change over time, so you need delivery models that offer staff and services for projects with finite deadlines and accommodate ongoing maintenance and support.

Offshore Delivery is ideal if you don’t have enough IT staff for a project and require skilled, responsive resources, and cost–effective scalability to achieve deadlines, and it’s suitable for support, or maintenance, or research projects. Offshore Delivery supplies resources quickly and affordably.

Onsite Delivery is perfect for repetitive or open–ended projects that require close coordination. Vendors will provide one or more dedicated professionals with appropriate skills, and remain onsite for a particular project phase, or for the entire project, as appropriate. Onsite Delivery leverages experience, skills and quality resources.

Hybrid Delivery combines offshore and onsite delivery to provide unique development, programming, project management, support or maintenance. You might require an onsite team during a particular project phase, while other tasks like feasibility, research, development, testing or support are performed offsite.

Whether you need offsite, onsite or hybrid delivery of services, you owe it to yourself to find the best available vendor with proven delivery models: www.elegantmicroweb.com, or info@elegantmicroweb.com.

Earlier this year, I had lunch with my friend, David, the tech guru. He helps me look smart with my boss. My company wanted to develop a mobile app for our employees. It had to be GPS capable, allow us to stream audio and video, and support touch screen, web services and web applications. David said to use Symbian.

What’s a Symbian? I consulted my dictionary and found that Symbion is an aquatic animal. That wasn’t it! I also found Simian, which is a monkey. David certainly didn’t want me to hire a monkey to develop my app. I called him and admitted I had no idea what a Symbian was!

Turns out, Symbian is a Nokia operating system with frameworks and tool libraries. The platform is open source and includes features for multitasking, and security, optimum efficiency for user interface and memory resources. It is a flexible, multi–level system for file service, plug–ins, storage and libraries and device compatibility.

The design includes an application interface class, a document class and an application class and a user customization feature TechView. Third party developers can get a digital signature from Symbian and an ACS publisher ID certificate.

Once I had the whole Symbian thing straight, I looked for a mobile application developer to provide the best, cutting edge skills and get my project done on time and on budget.

If you want to create a Symbian application, or manage a mobile application implementation, don’t hire a monkey! Hire the pros! www.elegantmicroweb.com, or info@elegantmicroweb.com.

I’m a team player. I have learned the value of collaboration and I firmly believe that partners can achieve more than an individual. Whether you need to bring a fresh, experienced perspective to a problem, or create a new product or service or you want to improve and sustain employee and customer satisfaction, these days it is nearly impossible to get it all done by yourself.

When I looked for a technology partner to augment my product and service offerings and provide additional, global expertise, I set some pretty high standards. I wanted a partner with years of experience working in many industries, for all types of clients; one that could grow with my needs; and had existing alliances with IT companies, and consulting companies, business consultants and service providers. They would have to provide services to complement my domain expertise with product development and implementation skills and methodology.

I wanted a partner with a serious business focus to create and sustain a long-term relationship; one that was flexible, with the highest ethical and professional standards, and would focus on a mutually beneficial relationship.

Give me flawless service and offshore outsourcing and the highest quality, cutting edge services and products as well as dedicated, knowledgeable team members and make it cost-effective!

My staff said, “You’ll never find a partner that can do all of that.” They were wrong! I did find all of this and more and today I am a very happy camper.

If you need a great technology partner, look no further. Here’s where you’ll find them: www.elegantmicroweb.com, or email info@elegantmicroweb.com.

You know how some products have such a cool name that you can’t help but pay attention? This year, I discovered just such a product. Liferay Portal! Sounds like something from an outer space movie with lots of special effects, right? What I discovered is that Liferay Portal is a web portal framework with over sixty tools and innovative technologies to create web sites, Content Management Systems (CMS) and intranet applications. It has features like Out–of–the–Box tools, Single–Click Configuration, SOA Framework, Dynamic Drag and Drop, Secure Single Sign On (SSO), Work from Desktop Tools, Granular Role–Based Authorization, Search and Tagging, Communities and Organizations, Personal User Pages, and Multi–Language Support.

Liferay is designed to simplify the work experience and it can be customized to satisfy unique needs. Out–of–the–box Liferay Portlets (cool name, huh?) allows developers to quickly customize a CMS environment, a document management system or a web site. The user interface has layers of personalization and desktop conventions, for ease of use and quick adoption. Liferay CMS and Liferay Collaboration features include web publishing, content management, collaboration and social networking. Liferay Portal can integrate legacy system data, HR, Accounting or Sales systems data and any other data sources. This is powerful stuff!

But, if you want to “go where no man has gone before” (to use the space movie vernacular), you’ll need to join forces with the Liferay professionals. Here’s where you’ll find them: www.elegantmicroweb.com, or info@elegantmicroweb.com.

iPad! It’s all anyone talks about! Frankly, I just didn’t believe any technology could ever be THAT cool. I was wrong. I received an iPad as a gift and I am determined to use every feature the device has to offer!

If you know Trudy, you know that everything I do is focused on making business easier – improving my bottom line; making technology simpler for my team. So, I am on a mission to leverage the iPad in the business arena. iPad is smaller than a traditional laptop or tablet computer, with the flexibility and features of a Smart Phone.

The iPad is becoming more popular with business users because it is portable and flexible. The iPad supports Apple software and software downloads from the Apple App Store, and third party software, licensed and registered for iPad use. Third party apps are more popular than ever and users are demanding more custom, third party applications to satisfy their special interests, business needs and other use.

The future of iPad third party business software development seems limitless: Enterprise applications to increase productivity and collaboration, gaming apps, prescription and healthcare applications, educational and assessment tools, surveys and questionnaires, scheduling and organization, travel, food, social networking, movies, music, video, employment, and even augmented reality. I can see it now!

Embrace the possibilities of iPad business and commercial apps. All you need is imagination and a technology partner with the experience to help you create that reality. Contact the pros: www.elegantmicroweb.com, or email info@elegantmicroweb.com.

The internet is old news but one thing still confuses me. When we note a web site, we do the “.com” thing. When we say the name, we say “dot com”. When we talk about the Content Management System (CMS) dotCMS, we say “dot CMS”. I believe I have it straight.

No matter how you say it, dotCMS is one of the fastest growing open source CMS solutions in the world. It lets you manage open source portals, company web sites, and intranet applications and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist (or programmer) to do it! I like dotCMS because it has lots of features and CRM tools to help me communicate with customers. I can manage documents and content, produce feeds, news listings, blogs, and forums and use the built-in search engine to make my site easier to navigate.

My marketing guy, Jimmy can tag, segment and group site visitors to see what pages they visited, when they last visited, their demographic information and their indicated interests. I don’t quite understand why this makes Jimmy so happy but then, do any of us understand the marketing guys? He can target HTML email campaigns to selected site visitors, track response rates and report online and offline communication with virtual links he includes in the communication. Jimmy is still a busy guy, but now he can optimize his marketing budget!

If you want to leverage dotCMS for your business, Jimmy says you should go with the pros! Here’s where you’ll find them: www.elegantmicroweb.com, or info@elegantmicroweb.com.

My goal for this year is to create business mobile applications to help our company meet its goals and remain competitive. I’m still humming holiday tunes, so here is an old favorite, with a business mobile app twist.

On the first day of the fiscal year, my manager said to me, “We need mobile apps to break free”
On the second day of the fiscal year, my client said to me, “Your apps do not run in 3D”
In the third month of the fiscal year, my tech rep said, “I guess…we need mobile GPS”
In the sixth month of the fiscal year, my marketers did state, “With FaceBook we must integrate”
In the eighth month of the fiscal year, my team leader did say, “Our team needs a mobile app way”

In the eleventh month of the fiscal year, our company did launch:
Collaborative applications
Product simulators
Design and research apps
Mobile Content Management Portals
Social networking integration
Maintenance and dispatch systems (with GPS, of course)
Mobile career, training and benefits tools
…and CRM and ERP mobile apps

In the twelfth month of the fiscal year, my manager said, “Oh Tru, it’s time for me to promote YOU.”

OK, so I won’t win an award for rhyming! Just remember: Your customers and users expect mobile connectivity and the ability to do business with touch screen simplicity! Mobile business apps can improve your bottom line and increase productivity

When it comes to pies, I’m partial to blackberries! And, my tastes do not change when it comes to Smart Phones and hand held devices. The Blackberry® is my favorite! So, it is no surprise that I decided to go with the Blackberry® platform to design my mobile business app!

You might think that BlackBerry® is a messaging device, but the newest models incorporate other Smart Phone technology and can compete with other popular Smart Phone devices for flexibility and reach! Internet faxing, web browsing, multi–lingual messaging, auto–text with auto–correct and other text features like shortcuts, FaceBook and other social networking updates, and support for Google Messenger, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, and eBay.

I really like the fact that the BlackBerry® device has a long battery life and can transfer data in about one third of the time of other devices. You can create groups, scan bar codes, and manage your customers and contacts from anywhere! That’s pretty cool!

When you’re ready for a taste of Blackberry® custom business mobile applications…Hah! A taste of Blackberry! Get it?…contact these fine mobile app experts! They are great BlackBerry® application developers and can design and develop cross–platform, and platform independent mobile apps. www.elegantmicroweb.com, or info@elegantmicroweb.com.

Take it from Trudy! I have a lot to learn. When my colleague, Alex, told me he was using Joomla, I thought it might be a new energy drink. While you won’t find Joomla on the shelves of a grocery store, it WILL energize your company.

Joomla is an award–winning Content Management System. Let me explain why it is so special. It can be deployed on nearly any operating system or platform, which makes it pretty flexible and useful for CMS implementations. It also has a lot of tools for web designers and developers to efficiently create CMS sites and clients using Joomla sites easily manage their site after implementation is complete.

IT pros like to use Joomla because it is suitable for complex and simple sites alike and can manage data base driven content. It includes an easy–to–use graphical interface that allows end users to quickly create, edit and publish web site content, thereby ensuring that the CMS site will always contain fresh, relevant information. Joomla Content Management Systems can satisfy nearly every CMS web site need from Surveys and Polls to Shopping Carts, Payment Systems, Auctions, Galleries, Partner Networks, Training Events, Fundraising, Grant Management and yes, even grocery store portals where you will find those energy drinks I was talking about!

If you want to take advantage of this award-winning CMS software, Alex says you need to get in touch with the pros! Here’s where you’ll find them: www.elegantmicroweb.com, or info@elegantmicroweb.com. Get Joomla and get energized!
