As a member of the Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia (HCP), I would like to cordially invite you to HCP’s year end fundraising gala. Please join us as we celebrate our year of accomplishments and raise much needed funds for the Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia to continue community development efforts in Haiti and the tri-state area.

Elise Joseph Foundation holds its annual Health and Job Fair this Friday.

Elise Joseph Foundation continues to serve the Philadelphia Haitian Community through cultural promotion and education through its Health and Job Fair.

Philadelphia, PA, October 19, 2011: The Elise Joseph Foundation (EJF) invites you to support its Health and Job Fair event.

The Elise Joseph Foundation would like to extend an invitation to its signature community event taking place this Friday October 21^st from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

This fair offers:

Access to Job Agencies and other needed community assistance.

As you may already be aware, a number of new Haitian immigrants have been allowed to come to the Philadelphia Area as a result of the recent Haiti earthquake and many Haitian residents are unemployed and are in need of services. As usual, the event is FREE and OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Therefore, it is our hope to serve over 500 participants this year.
The Haitian community is often an underserved minority group with limited access to health services. That is why we have partnered with the Mayor’s Commission on African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs, Haitian Medical Professionals in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Eastern University,
Eastern University Nursing Students, Drexel University Medical Students, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, New Sanctuary Movement, Sickle Cell Disease Association of America- Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter and Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians and many other organizations to provide health and wellness resources. The event has been promoted with advertising and support from the Haitian Clergy Association of Philadelphia, the Haitian Coalition of Philadelphia, the Haitian Community Center, 88.5 FM (sca) Radio Vision Celeste (Heavenly Vision) Christian Haitian Radio that reaches an estimated 150,000 Haitians in the tri-state area, L’Informateur Haitian newspaper and EJF volunteers in the Haitian community.

The Elise Joseph Foundation Corporation is a 501C (3), tax exempt, publicly funded charitable nonprofit organization. Your support helps us to continue our mission to serve Haitian and Haitian American communities through education, cross-cultural promotion, health promotion and humanitarian relief.
Monies raised throughout the year went to sponsoring this event. Once again, The Elise Joseph Foundation (EJF) invites you to support the Annual Haitian and Haitian-American Health Fair in Philadelphia. This year, we are presenting the Haitian Health and Job Fair, Friday, October 21, 2011, from 5PM to 9PM (set-up 4pm to 5pm) at the Simons Recreation Center located at 7200 Woolston Street (Corner of Walnut Street in West Oak Lane), Philadelphia, PA 19138.

The sponsorship package includes many benefits and opportunities to help promote your organization. Our sponsorship is tailored so that everyone can get involved. We encourage you to select the level that’s right for you. Please complete the form and mail your registration to the EJF mailing address listed below by October 7, 2011.

EJF Presents: Haitian-Creole Classes

Dear EJF Friends,

Are you or anyone you know interested in learning about the Haitian culture and language? Thinking about going to Haiti? Want to learn to speak Haitian-Creole? It’s already a year since the January 12th Haiti earthquake, yet the country looks as if the disaster happened yesterday. The Haitian people need your help more than ever. We know that many of you are thinking about going to Haiti but know little about the culture or language. According to the Miami Herald, there is a cultural gap between foreign aid workers and the Haitian people they are trying to help. Perhaps, you would like to help the earthquake victims and their families who are arriving daily here in Philadelphia. We can assist you to better understand and communicate with Haitians.

The Elise Joseph Foundation is offering 5-week Haitian-Creole and Culture classes starting Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 10am to 1pm at the EJF Office located in North Philadelphia at 4708 North 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120 (Down the street from Nueva Esperanza College).

Attached is a flyer and application form. There are three class start dates:

February 12 to March 12, 2011

March 19 to April 16, 2011

April 30 to May 28, 2011

Let us know which class start date is feasible for you. To register, mail your completed application and $75 registration fee to the Elise Joseph Foundation at our mailing address: P.O. Box 12595, Philadelphia, PA 19151. The $75 balance is payable by the second week of class. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
