The year-on-year decline would only be the second time in the cryptocurrency's history that it has been worth less on its birthday than the previous year.

On the eve of bitcoin's 10th birthday, the world's first cryptocurrency may be about to hit an even more significant milestone. Having fallen by almost $200 over the last 24 hours, bitcoin may be about to see its first year-on-year loss of 2018, marking a point where its stuttering price falls since January can no longer come with the caveat that it is still trading higher than it had been on the same date the year before.
In late October 2017, bitcoin was trading at around $6,000, having seen its value rise by more than $5,000 over the course of the year. 12 months later, bitcoin is trading at just above $6,000, having fallen by more than $10,000 since the start of the year.
If bitcoin remains around its current price of $6,328, or falls even lower, then it will fall below 2017's year-on-year price on 31 October – the 10th anniversary of the publication of a paper describing an "electronic cash system" that would eventually give birth to bitcoin, the blockchain, and an entire cryptocurrency industry.

But while November and December 2017 saw bitcoin's price shoot up by almost $14,000, the next couple of months are unlikely to see a repeat of this run. Analysts believe this will only change if a major event within the cryptocurrency space takes place, such as if the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), which operates the New York Stock Exchange, decides to offer bitcoin futures.
"The market is showing no real strength on either the upside of the downside, as bitcoin finds itself unable to break the $7,000 barrier. The market is looking for a catalyst to make its decisive move, which may well be imminent," Matt Newton, from the online trading platform eToro, told The Independent.

Other recent price predictions have suggested bitcoin will more likely see a steady increase in value over time, as the market begins to show more resilience to positive or negative news that has previously tended to disrupt the price.

This is the belief of Nigel Green, CEO of financial consultancy firm deVere group, who said the cryptocurrency market is "unquestionably coming of age" following the final report of the UK government's Cryptoassets Taskforce.
"It’s becoming increasingly clear that cryptocurrencies are the future of money. This is evidenced by bitcoin, the world’s first cryptocurrency turning 10, and by more and more governments, regulators, financial institutions, and retail and institutional investors, amongst others, appreciating the real and growing demand for digital, global currencies in today’s ever more digitalised and globalised world," he said.

"This is also underscored by the UK government Cryptoassets Taskforce’s final report which states that ‘the market is continuing to evolve rapidly', before adding ‘there is increasing institutional investment in this space, and many banks are starting to explore how they can interact with this growing market’. The report’s proactive and pragmatic approach towards regulation of the burgeoning sector should be championed."

It's holiday season, so many of us are partying a bit more than usual.

This means more food, more booze, more late nights and, for some, it might involve smoking the odd cigarette.

But how bad is it to smoke occasionally?

The idea that low-level smoking doesn't do you any harm is a dangerous myth, Professor David Currow of the Cancer Institute NSW said.

Social smokers often don't think of themselves as smokers, he said, so they don't believe health warnings about smoking apply to them.

But the bottom line is every cigarette exposes your body to harmful chemicals.

"There's no safe level of smoking. What's more, the negative health effects add up across your life," he said.

What type of smoker are you?

Groups of low-level or occasional smokers include:

The social smoker: Tends to only smoke in social settings, like at the pub or when out with friends.

The binge smoker: Smokes a lot more at certain times than others, such as at the weekend.

The low-level smoker: Only smokes a few cigarettes a day or just smokes occasionally.

Simon Chapman, Emeritus Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney said: "Smoking a small number of cigarettes, say less than four a day or once a week does elevate your risk [of health problems].

"Not to the [same] extent as if you were smoking 30 cigarettes a day. But compared to someone who doesn't smoke, anyone smoking four cigarettes a day or even less is kidding themselves they're not running any extra risk."

Immediate effects

As soon as you take a drag from a cigarette, there are changes in your body, including:

You may feel more relaxed, but your blood pressure and heart rate start to rise.

Your heart begins to pump differently, and the blood flow to the capillaries decreases.

Levels of a poisonous gas called carbon monoxide, increase in your bloodstream. This means less oxygen reaches the brain, muscles and other organs.

Tiny finger-like cilia which keep your airways clear of phlegm and debris are 'stunned' by chemicals in the smoke so don't do their job as well.

Less smoking, less cancer?

Even if you smoke only occasionally, you are still exposed to long-term risks.

As well as lung cancer, there are at least 13 other cancers linked with smoking.

Smoking damages DNA in cells, including in key genes that protect you against cancer.

It's true that the more you smoke, the more DNA damage or mutations you're going to create.

"But it's not your cumulative total of 40,000 mutations that guarantees you cancer. It's that you've got the right combination of mutations," Professor Curnow said.

"So you may smoke less than the person next door to you, but you might just happen to hit the genes that mean you're going to get lung cancer or any of a whole range of other cancers."

Just one to four cigarettes a day almost triples your risk of dying from lung cancer.

And social smoking is particularly bad for your heart, as bad as regular smoking, it seems.

Studies have shown light and intermittent smokers have nearly the same risk of heart disease as people who smoke daily, Professor Currow said.

Very fine blood vessels that are vital to keeping your heart healthy are damaged by smoking, he says. Harm to the same tiny blood vessels also contributes to erectile dysfunction in males.

"We know these blood vessels are vulnerable to damage at exposure to an incredibly low numbers of cigarettes," he said.

An occasional cigarette is connected to a host of other illnesses too: cataracts, reduced fertility, an increased risk of an ectopic pregnancy [where the pregnancy develops outside the uterus] and weak bones, a review of several studies showed.

Slippery slope

The direct health effects are only part of the problem with social smoking though.

Because smoking is highly addictive, smoking "a little" can all too easily turn into smoking more.

Non-daily smokers who smoke over three packs a month are just as likely to still be smoking after 14 years as daily smokers, Professor Currow said.

He notes that many social smokers binge smoke when they do smoke, rather than just having a cigarette or two.

"At present we have no way of knowing how readily a person will become addicted to nicotine until after the event, when they have become addicted," he said.

"Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to mankind, so experimenting in that space is not smart."

He believes the only safe strategy is not to smoke at all.

Professor Chapman agrees.

"Ninety per cent of smokers regret that they ever started. The number who say, 'Yes, I love smoking. I know the risks and I don't want to stop,' is probably less than 1 in 10," he said.

Although smoking rates have been on a downward trend, it is unclear whether the rate of social smokers in Australia is changing.

The National Drug Strategy Household Survey (2016) showed that of Australians over the age of 14, 12.2 per cent smoked daily, 1 per cent smoked weekly and another 1 per cent smoked less than weekly.

The practice, which arose in some Arabic countries, took off in Australia several years ago, Professor Currow said.

There are now shisha cafes and hookah lounges where people smoke together, sometimes sharing the same shisha, he said.

Sometimes the smoke is flavoured by being passed through a piece of fruit like a mango or pineapple.

"People think that because the smoke is cooled or flavoured, it's harmless," he said.

"But an hour smoking socially with a shisha is equivalent to 50 or 100 cigarettes. You can get very major exposure over a short space of time."

Kicking the habit

The good news is that as soon as we stop smoking, your body starts recovering.

Within 12 hours of your last cigarette, blood carbon monoxide levels are much lower and after a year, the risk of coronary heart disease will be half of what it once was as a smoker.

If you quit before the age of 35, your life expectancy will be much the same as someone who has never smoked.

If you're a social smoker wanting to quit, it can help to ask friends to discourage you from smoking in social situations.

Cutting down on alcohol can also help some social smokers who tend to smoke more when they drink.

And you might think about the people around you who have to breathe in the smoke you exhale in social situations. Some research has suggested this is a stronger motivator for social smokers to quit than education about health impacts on yourself.

"Social smokers say, 'I'm not addicted'. If that's really the case, walk away from it," Professor Currow said.

Dogecoin Is Turning 4 Years Old on Wednesday

Everyone’s favorite joke-turned-real cryptocurrency is having its birthday very soon. That’s right, Dogecoin will turn 4 on Wednesday. Readers will know I have a soft spot for this cryptocurrency, particularly because of its community. Let’s take a brief look at Dogecoin’s four-year history.

In the beginning. Wow.

Dogecoin’s genesis block was mined on December 6th, 2013, which you can see here. It was originally a joke created by Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus based on the code from LuckyCoin. The coin’s face was the goofy Doge meme that was popular at the time. Even its block rewards were incredibly outrageous. Indeed, every aspect of this coin screamed “this is a joke!” However, while it may have started out as such, this Doge has some bite.

From Joke to Thriving Community

Perhaps it was this lighthearted nature that made Dogecoin as successful as it’s become. It’s been competing with the “big boys” of cryptocurrency and has held its own. Even today it is among the top 50 cryptos. High prices attract the attention of many, but stellar communities are what keep people coming back. This is something that Dogecoin figured out a long time ago.

Enthusiasts leveraged their community to get some very impressive things done in their time, and the Dogecoin community quickly became synonymous with philanthropic deeds. Whilst the people of the world are distracted by the copious number Black Friday sales, a potentially lethal threat is looming over the Earth – a threat so deadly that could change life as we know it forever.

This may sound like the premise of the latest superhero movie, however, unlike Henry Cavill’s moustache in Justice League, this is a very real threat. So stop scrolling the net for a bargain and listen up!

The three-mile-wide space mass, which NASA have previously described as “potentially hazardous”, will pass “quite close” to Earth on December 17, according to Russian astronomers.

The enormous asteroid will pass 6.4 million miles from the Earth’s surface – which, in space terms, is alarmingly close. What’s more is that it’s half the size of the asteroid which wiped out the dinosaurs.

The asteroid – chillingly named Phaethon after the Greek God who nearly destroyed Earth – was first discovered in 1983. Since then, it has been closely monitored due to its unusual orbit which sees it pass closer to the Sun than any other named asteroid.

Its odd orbit resembles that of a comet rather than an asteroid, and this is why it has been referred to as a “rock comet”.

Phaethon is responsible for the Geminids meteor shower which occurs every December. The bright shower, which is observed in various locations across the globe – from the Iranian desert to San Francisco – has been intensifying every year.

However, this December, we could see something much more sinister than a meteor shower plunge towards the Earth.

Phaethon has passed the Earth before at a distance of 11 million miles, almost double the distance that it is expected to pass this year.

However, the distance is lessening ever year, and the asteroid is expected to pass a mere one million miles away from Earth on December 14, 2093.

“Apparently, this asteroid was once a much bigger object,” said Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in a statement. “But its many approaches to the Sun have caused it to crumble into smaller pieces which eventually formed this meteor shower.”

“The asteroid’s extremely elongated orbit, thanks to which it sometimes gets to the Sun closer than Mercury and it sometimes moves away farther than Mars, is another argument in favor of this theory,” they explained.

Whilst this may all sound rather terrifying, NASA have maintained that there is no need to be alarmed. In fact, the have even recommended that you continue with your Christmas shopping (there is no escaping it, sorry folks!).

But they’ve also made a point of emphasising how rare this whole thing is…

THE MYTH ABOUT FEMALE VIRGINITY -why most women won't bleed the first time they have sex.
There's a very common myth in South and Central Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan etc.) and Africa (Nigeria and many other nations ) that you can tell if a woman is a virgin, by whether or not she bleeds the first time she has sex. There is zero truth in this. Not all women bleed the first time they have sex, as I'll explain in this post. To understand why some women bleed and some don't, it's very important to understand what the hymen is. The hymen is a membrane that tends to cover part of the vaginal opening (it does not always block or cover the entire vagina, as some people mistakenly think). NOT ALL WOMEN HAVE A HYMEN. The hymen also differs from woman to woman - like all women have different heights and weights and features, all women also have different amounts and types of hymen. Some women have thick hymens, some have very thin hymens, and some women have NO hymens at all. Some women have larger hymens, some women naturally have a very little amount of hymen that covers only a small portion of their vaginal opening (and hence does not really get in the way, during first-time sex). In addition to this, the hymen wears away on its own as you grow up. For most women, the hymen wears away on its own with exercise, bicycling, horseback riding -it can wear off with pretty much any other physical activity, even dancing! - or from using tampons when menstruating. Especially if the hymen is very small or thin, most of it tends to wear away on its own as a girl grows up. If a woman is born WITHOUT a hymen, she won't bleed the first time she has sex. If a woman has a small or thin hymen, she might not bleed the first time she has sex. If a woman's hymen has worn away on its own (which is very common as girls grow up), she won't bleed the first time she has sex. The result is that the overwhelming majority -at least 63% of women - will NOT bleed the first time they have sex, according to a study published by the British Medical Journal. Women who do bleed include: - Women with thick hymens (who constitute a small percentage of the population) - Younger girls. Because the hymen wears away on its own with time, a 16-year old has a higher chance of bleeding than a 25-year old. By the time a girl is of or above the legal age of consent - 18, 20, 24 years of age, for example - most of her hymen is likely to have worn away on its own, meaning it's unlikely that she'll bleed a lot, if at all. However, even a young girl can be physically active, have a thin or small hymen, or have no hymen at all, meaning she might not bleed during first-time sex. - Most often, women who bleed tend to be women who are dealt with roughly during sex. If the guy forces himself inside the girl, when she isn't ready, relaxed or aroused enough, he is likely to cause injury or bleeding. Because most people think it's normal for women to bleed the first time they have sex, they don't realize that this bleeding is a result of the woman having been hurt, and not of the hymen 'breaking.' Painful first-time sex is generally because the woman is not relaxed or aroused enough, and gets hurt as a result; it is rarely ever because of the hymen breaking. The bottom line is that there is no way to assess female virginity. Bleeding does not have anything to do with virginity - it has to do with the kind of hymen a girl has, and hymens differ from girl to girl from birth. The result is that only a small percentage of women bleed the first time! (Only 37% bleed during first-time sex, according to the study published in the British Medical Journal.) Why is this so important to be aware of? Women all over the world get abused, injured and even killed due to the myth of 'virgin bleeding.' Because most people (men AND women) think that bleeding is a sign of virginity, women who don't bleed the first time have been divorced, suffered from suspicion leading to domestic violence and abuse, and even killed for honour. Educating people that a girl does not necessarily have to bleed the first time she has sex - because not all girls have thick hymens, and some are born with no hymen at all - is important because it can literally save lives. .

Educative!!! Certain things Men need to do to contribute to the health of thier Wife and unborn Baby

Do you know that certain things you do when your wife is pregnant actually contributes to state of health of the mother and unborn child?

Listen, it bothers me a lot when I see men showing no concern to their pregnant wife or fail to adjust to some temporary changes!!!
It's just 9 months, not like it's forever. Pregnancy is not bought in the market, neither is it a software downloaded from the internet. It's a seed planted by us men and is germinating. There has to be a carrier of that seed while it grows, and women have been given the responsibility to carry it.
Pregnancy is preparation to welcome
a new member into the family.
Pregnancy is a
journey fun filled, amazing etc.
Women differ in body changes. Although Pregnancy makes women do certain things in common.
■Once in a while she would nag
■Once in a while she would request for things unimaginable e.g she wants to eat okro and bread
■Once in a while she would get so lazy to make you your meals
■Once in a while she would want to stretch her legs on your laps. Please pardon her... carrying the baby ain't easy.
Her needs may be unsatisfiable at times.
The first Tri_mester of the journey can be so annoying. Like I say women differ from each other during pregnancy.
●While most women are busy vomiting.
●Most of them sleep like water leaf, they sleep off anywhere with the slightest chance even in the kitchen.
●While most women have fever.
●Most women be looking cranky and dry like Dustin powder.
●While most women add up weight.
●Most women appear like burnt offerings.
●Some even go round with White handkerchief spitting in it. ALL THESE ARE STILL OUR WORK.....

Please tolerate this, it's beautiful afterwards.
Her attitude becomes annoying, most times you cant stand her. But I get annoyed when I see men like me neglect their pregnant wife. She's not an abomination, neither is she a curse. I must say, it's not an easy journey for all.
The last Tri_mester is when we need to be extra patient, loving, enduring and understanding.
NOTE...
1) Always observe your wife's feet while pregnant, it swells often. Please give her a basin of water to soak her leg once in a while, it's one of the best treat women enjoy during pregnancy.
2) Ask her regularly how she feels and how the baby is. She's the carrier so she feels him/her move.
3) Tell her how beautiful she looks during pregnancy e.g " Honey see as the pregnancy make you fine, I will be impregnating you every month ooo" or even "is it my child that makes you fresh like this pass normal" Even if she has grown bigger in size cause of the pregnancy, celebrate her.
4) Don't be upset if she ever wakes you up by 2am to help massage her feet. We need to feel little of her discomfort and pain. She shouldn't carry it alone, it's our baby,we need to carry it together. (I don't mean physical carriage though).
5) No rule book stopped sex during pregnancy, in short it's the best sef.... do it. It's not like the vagina stopped working during pregnancy. o boy continue the work that brings the pregnancy.
6) Don't be ashamed to take her out. Take her out once in a while to those lovie dovie places you used to go together. #They_love_it...
Most times I wonder what crosses the heart of men when they see their pregnant wives. Carrying a child for 9 months isn't easy.
I urge all men to get closer to their spouses during pregnancy because that's one of the times she needs you most.

How Much YouTube Pays YouTubers Per View. Once the YouTuber links Google AdSense to their channel, they make 68% of the ad revenue (see Google AdSense Revenue Share). YouTube charges advertisers when a viewer watches 30 seconds or more of the ad, and typically charges around $.18 per view (see How Much Do Ads on YouTube Cost). Only about 15% of viewers will be counted as a “paid view” since many of them skip.

So if you have 1,000 views to your video and 15% actually watch the ad, then you would have 150 paid views. At $.18 per view, this would equate to $27 total charged to the advertiser. As the content creator you get 68% of that, so you would average around $18 per 1,000 views.

Here is it another way:

1,000 views –> 150 views of people completing the ad

$.18 per view x 150 views = $27 charged to advertiser

$27 advertiser charge x 68% revenue share = $18 paid to content creator per 1,000 views

Who are the Top YouTubers? In 2014, the top YouTuber made $4.9 million unboxing toys. Yes that’s right, the whole channel is just her unboxing Disney toys. Her top video, Play Doh Sparkle Princess, has garnered 217 million views. Other examples include PewDiePie, which made $4 million in 2014 and LittleBabyBum, which made $3.5 million. If this makes you question everything you’ve done in your life, you’re not alone.

Should Marketers Pay YouTubers to Make Videos? To say it depends is kind of a cop-out, so I’m going to compare the cost per thousand views to if you just ran an online video ad instead.

Making Videos. From above, you could calculate that to have a YouTuber make a video and post it to their channel you would be paying roughly $10,000 for 100,000 views, which breaks down to $100 per 1,000 views.

Running Video Ads. If you opted to just run an ad on their channel, you would pay $27 per 1,000 views (but only really get 150 completed views). To get 1,000 completed views it would cost $405.

Both are good options. Video is much more visual than any other media so if you’re debating between the two you have a good problem. Having a YouTuber produce a video is comparatively less expensive, but you give up creative control and cannot know how successful the video will be. Also you are limited to just their channel, so you may need to do multiple of these deals. Some of the pros are that you get a customized piece of content that doesn’t feel like an ad, and oftentimes these channels reach audiences that don’t consume general mass media. Paid ads are just that – paid ads, and oftentimes users feel inconvenienced when forced to watch them. However, the targeting is great and can oftentimes tie into your larger marketing strategy.
