Packaged media, like the CD, is dead, thanks to the ipod and mp3. Movies and Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will be the same.

Anybody remember Divx? It was a format that Circuit City championed competing with DVD where you buy a movie and throw it away after a couple of viewings. Well Divx has resurfaced as Xvid (Divx spelled backwards, get it?) – a well known codec for .avi files which is what everyone uses to format their movies for downloading.

So at these video stores, they have monitors set up and movies playing on them.

It just so happens that Joe looks on this monitor and sees Willie there.

So Joe goes up to the counter and says, “I want to rent THAT movie.”

The counter guy says, “That movie is not for rent.”

That movie was “Balls Deep.”

This is just one example but unless I decide to distribute this officially, it will be distributed virally through DVD burning like it already is.
