Hello everyone!

Well, I tried to make the Facebook links work the way I wanted and just didn't work (hence all the time lost). So a change of plans was needed to be able to go on with other stuff :P

First of all I added a link to the Elton John Community page, which will show you all the Elton John related posts from your friends at once, as well as post from other people. Great way to meet up other fans! :)

Since, at least for now, I can just add Facebook Pages (not groups), I have to redo my list of links that will be added. Some new pages will be added soon, but I will ask you for some help also at our Facebook Page! ;)

I know I said I would make the GoodSearch icon smaller... but I have noticed more people using it, so I will give it some time before shrinking it back. Support the EJAF for free just one click away! :)

The "Album of the Week" from the Blog is removed since it caused many loading issues (and to be fair, I didn't always had the time to update it). Not all is lost, though. A new version of it for the Toolbar is on the works! :)

And last, but not least, I recently realized that the Toolbar is on its way to celebrate 5 years! So we gotta get ready for a celebration next November! All this years the Toolbar has existed for you, the users, so I hope to see you all there celebrating with us! ^^

PS: Some technical info: Chrome users might be able to use components of the Elton Toolbar soon. I'll keep you updated about this. Firefox 4 beta users won't be able to use the Toolbar for now.

Hello everyone!

As usual , I'm gonna update you on how I'm doing with the Elton Toolbar!

Unfortunately, as you can see I haven't had much time to work on the Toolbar too much. Here and there I had enough time to change the Facebook links but, halfway, Facebook changed the way Pages and Groups work..., so I had to update it all again.

At the moment I expect the links to come out sometime this week, since I have them all set up on the test Toolbar. I just have to transfer them, but this takes time since I have to do it one by one.

I did have found the same issue than before when I created the menu; which groups/pages to add?! So, I thought on leaving this job to the community! hehe! I will add some basic groups, my favorite ones that have a proper amount of recent updates, and a topic will be open in our own Facebook page to suggest your favorite pages/groups. I am also a user of my own Toolbar, so no wonder my favorite groups will be there at first! B)

Another update that you will see shortly is about the GoodSearch button. As you will remember I "enlarged" this button some updates ago to make it more obvious since it was for such a great cause. The button now will reverse its size soon to a small button. A few users have found the Toolbar too long and, to be sincere, mostly nobody uses it. I will keep the button there, though. Each search is money donated to the Elton John Aids Foundation, so it's worth it!

I have more stuff to follow this small update, but I have learned my lesson and I won't make any promises yet, haha!

Well, the Toolbar is back in business! =) Many more ideas are being cooked and will be soon ready to serve, but this time we have something more important to talk about.

As probably you all know by now, next week is the week we make Original Sin reach n°1!! This fantastic initiative started by our friend in eltonjohnallsongslist has finally reached the time for action. Lets help him and all the rest of fans make justice and bring this song to the Top for Elton's Birthday! Final Facebook Integration!

Hello everyone!

Today, at last, I bring you the last step of the Toolbar's integration with Facebook! If you are a Facebook user you will love this update =)

First, the Facebook links are implemented under the Fan Sites menu. At first just some links will show, until I have more time to dedicate to find the best pages in there and maybe get more suggestions from you ;)

The links will be ordered, as you see, by "Elton John", "Bernie Taupin" and "Band Members" sub-menus, with some featured pages in top. Now finally we can help promote the effort "Make Original Sin N°1", created by our friend in eltonjohnallsongslist. Read more about this very soon in our Blog!

And now for the big news! I have been looking for a way to make our Toolbar more useful, even outside our need to find information about Elton John. So... say hello to the new button to access you own Facebook Profile in the Toolbar!

With this button, you can be logged on to Facebook and receive notifications of request, even with the Facebook page closed! You will be able to start playing with it soon and see all what it has to offer. I guarantee you won't be dissapointed! =)

Let me remind you that meanwhile updates, the Toolbar might flicker and you might see components moving! :D

What about those of you that do not use Facebook?! Simple, you can disable it in the Toolbar Options, like all the rest of components. :)

Free "Next Fall" Tickets Contest!

Hello everyone!

If you have been following the updates in our Facebook Page, you know already that we have 2 FREE tickets to see "Next Fall" in New York for one lucky Elton John fan!

How to win the tickets?

It's very simple, just follow this three steps:

1. Download and install the Toolbar (this step is optional, since I want to give the chance to win the tickets to those fans who cannot install the Toolbar for some reason. But if you can, install it and help us grow!)

2. Become a Fan from the EltonToolbar Facebook Page

3. Write a post in the Discussion called "Free "Next Fall" Tickets"

And that is all you need to do to enter the contest! Now, before you do all that, please read the following important information!

- The prize is 2 free tickets to see "Next Fall" in New York for one winner. The prize does not include the lodging or transportation in/to New York. This is very important, so just enter the contest if you can get there by yourself!

- The winner will be chosen between all the Fans at the Facebook Page that write a post under the right Discussion. Just one entry per person is allowed.

- The winner will be chosen randomly by me, and the selection will be video recorded and (if all goes right) posted in the Blog. This is the best way I have to certify that the contest is fair :)

Not everything works as planned

Hey all!

This days I have been hinting some new stuff for the Toolbar. Unfortunatetly (and as usual) not all goes as planned.

One of the new ideas I've been working on was a widget of GrooveShark for the Toolbar. This way you would be able to listen to Elton while browsing, without having to keep the website open. All was going fine until I discovered that it just works if using the Firefox browser, which makes it useless for the big majority of users that have Internet Explorer. So, I cannot fully release this until I can dedicate more time to fix it (if I can, since it seems a security issue within IE).

But don't worry, there will be some new stuff in the Toolbar soon! You voted that you want to see Facebook links and you will have them. From today you can start suggesting your favorite Elton John related groups/pages. Use the suggest link in the "Fan Sites" menu to send me an email or leave a comment.

And yet another issue of something not working! :P I am unable to update the Album of the Week at this time so we get to enjoy of Peachtree Road for another week. That's not that bad, right? ;)

And last but not least, lets say goodbye to our Facebook Group! Today it has been deleted. But hang on to the awesome EltonToolbar Facebook Page. Join us there, become a Fan from here!

Album of the Week and some more!

Hey all!

It's Monday and, as our new tradition dictates, is time for a new Album of the Week! This week I'm gonna add an album I personally have a lot of affection for, The One. Silence is not an option! Enjoy the music :-)

We also got a question for the users today. Several Facebook groups have approached us to add their links in the Toolbar. Since we would like to have your opinion about this, there is a new poll in the Blog. Don't forget to answer and leave a comment!

The idea of adding more content in the Toolbar is interesting, but at this moment we are more concerned about the quality than the quantity of links and, lets be sincere, there's not much of quality in some Facebook groups. So, if finally we add this links, we have to assume that there will be some kind of conditions to avoid the "I just want more members with no content" groups. Conditions are still to be decided.

For now, this is just an idea. We are working as well on a way to maybe simply add some kind of "Elton John Facebook News Feed" in the Toolbar for easier access, if we end deciding to add this content.

I leave today you with some good music and something to think about. The Toolbar is made for you, so your input it's more than necessary!

Hello everyone!

Before the new version of the Toolbar goes live very soon, I wanted to explain you the update.

So, what's different?

Well, since I want to keep the original look of the Toolbar, theres not much to notice visually. A lot of work has been put at checking and actualizing all the links and optimizing the installation page for new users.

There's is, though, one change and an one addition to the Toolbar worth pointing out.

First, the new GoodSearch icon, which has been enlarged.

We can see at the moment that this is not one of the most used components in the Toolbar and we want to change this. GoodSearch is a simple and easy way to help the Elton John Aids Foundation (EJAF). Every search is a donation, so keep your Toolbar open and click that button to help raise some money for the EJAF when you need to search for something! Is that easy to help.

The new addition to the Toolbar is a link to Groveshark, our favorite online music player!

Anytime you feel the need to listen some Elton John (like all the time for me xD) , click this button and you will have at your disposal most of all his albums and songs. Now with the Toolbar, Elton John music follows you everywhere ;) As for now, you still have to visit the website to access the music though, but we are working to improve this. You will have to wait a bit for that still... :P

And as you already could, you can add personalized Toolbar Components, as easy as clicking the "+" button at the end of the Toolbar:

You will be able to choose from lots of Components to add to your Toolbar. It's so easy to customize EltonToolbar to your needs!

Hello everyone!

From EltonToolbar we hope you had a great Christmas and that 2010 becomes a fantastic year, specially one filled with Elton John concerts and news!

To celebrate the New Year we added some fireworks to the main site, have a look! ;-)

About the Toolbar updates that we have been talking about, well, they are almost done! I have heard in our Facebook group that the update could arrive... tomorrow? I wouldn't be so sure, but we are hoping that is true! ;)

In any case, if the new Toolbar comes out tomorrow or next week, be aware that you might see your Toolbar components move. So remember this before you report yourself as crazy! xD It is completely normal that, during updates, some compronents might move or change. So bare with us during this period!

Hey all!

The new EltonToolbar.com is up and running! Since the Toolbar is being updated, the Gallery part is obviously not yet finished. Of course the website will keep changing, so keep checking it for new stuff!

This website is the main door for new users, so that is why it was a priority. Done that, the Toolbar will be now the focus of changes. This is the best moment for you to tell us what you like and what you don't, send suggestions of what you would like to see in the menu's, etc.

For the shy ones, there will be new Polls to answer about this changes soon ;)

Hello there Toolbar users!

Well, it has been long time since my last update... lets blame a busy life and other interests. Now its time for a bit of an update on how I'm gonna try to do things from now on.

First of all, soon you will have a new website for EltonToolbar.com. I'm working on a website that will be easier for me to update, since I don't have much time for coding. I'm hoping you will like it! :-)

You will see that the Calendar and the Amazon Store will be gone. This is also due to not having the time to keep them updated. I'm considering brining back the Calendar when I have more time to dedicate to it (I really liked it :-P).

After the website is up (in some days/week), I will start updating the Toolbar again. Some changes on links and a reorganization is in order at this point. Do send your suggestions on how to improve it!

And last, I will review the Blog and try to improve some weak spots I noticed.

So lots of work to do! Thank you all for your persistent support. I hope I manage to improve the Toolbar and, with it, your online Elton experience!

Summer update

Hello fellow Toolbar users!

I know it has been long since my last update! Since March lots have happened in my personal life that has kept me quite busy, so I just haven't had the time. Anyway, I did keep the Toolbar updated as much as I could. Another topic is our Calendar, which unfortunately is missing some dates. Will be fixing that very soon!

Another thing that has kept me busy was, of course!, Elton. I have been "on the road" for the first week in July following Elton. I wasn't able to break my personal record of 4 shows in a row (lol) but I got close enough with 3. I'll see if I can post some pics later on.

Elton was just fantastic on this shows (Halle, Darlington and Perth, by the way). His voice seems better than ever and the setlist, even though keeps being repetitive, still rocks you off. The band seemed in the mood for fun also, specially Davey. Was lucky enough to get several guitar picks from Davey and a signature from Elton in every show. I might post a picture of them to show off a bit, lol! Gotta thank Elton for 3 fabulous nights. :-)

Also wanna say thanks to all the people I met "on the road" (I just like to say that :-P) which made the evenings much more special. I always thought Elton John fans were specially nice and, for a change, it has been confirmed that I was right. Big hug to everyone, specially the Japanese fans who I was tremendously happy to meet again. See ya all again soon! :-)

And back to the Toolbar business, a recap of the installation count. The Toolbar happily counts now 320 installations which is far from what I expected when I started this. A big welcome to all the new users! Wanna remind everyone we now have a Facebook group you can join and that the chat in the Toolbar is working properly, so don't forget to log on from time to time to see if there's any fans around looking for a nice conversation. ;-)

Well, nothing else left now that saying goodby until the next update! Thank you all for using the Toolbar and don't hesitate to report any issue or suggestion you may have.

Switching the looks

Hello everyone!

Due to some professional and personal issues, I've been unable to update the sites for a long time. I managed to keep the Toolbar updated, though, so it's just the websites and the Calendar that I had to leave behind for a while. For this reason some Elton shows and events are not in the Calendar. I'll make sure to fix that before the end of the week. Updating the sites might take some more time, unfortunately...

I want thank everyone who has been visiting the sites and voting in the polls. With almost 290 downloads (will we reach 300?!), we can say the Toolbar is going good! A big welcome to all the new Elton John Fans who have decided to try the Toolbar, and I hope you like it!

I'll do my best to pick up on lost time, but that's all for now. :)

This year that ends has been a really good year for Elton John fans, for example with Elton celebrating his 60th birthday with us in the MSG, many shows in the US and Europe and the amazing solo tour in Japan and Australia.

Also it has been a good year for the Toolbar! Thanks to you, we count now more than 270 installations. What more can I ask for Christmas? :)

And to thank all the the visitors and Toolbar users, a small gift. Take a break and listen Elton reading the children's poem "T'was The Night Before Christmas"!

T'was The Night Before Christmas

T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the bear on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe, he held tight in his teeth,

He had a broad face, and a little round little belly,
That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye, and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know, I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.

In Japanese Hands

Hello everyone!

Elton played in Japan the 19th and 20th of November, and I was there! Here's a "kind-of" report I wrote (at 3am in full jetlag, which I still have... lol!) about my experiences in Tokyo.

"Hello from Tokyo!
It's 3 o'clock in the morning (of the 20th) and I'm in Tokyo, Japan. The reason to be writing this so late is clear: Elton John! Even though it has been tough for me to adjust to the Japanese time (darn you jetlag!), now I'm simply too nervous and excited to close my eyes and sleep. And who would like to sleep after attending the most fantastic show Elton has done in years! I just don't want this day to finish! :D
So, with 8h left in this country, let me recall the greatest memories I have from this days.
First of all, I have to mention my now friend Noriko, who was really kind of selling me tickets for the shows. After losing the chance of buying Rocket Tickets (which actually wasn't that big of a loss, I saw later) my only option from Europe was finding a Japanese fan who would sell me one, and I did. And I didn't just find "a" fan! I found "the" fan, one of Elton's best fans in Japan!
So, tickets in hand (blocks in the back, but really happy to be there anyway) and flight ready, I headed to Tokyo by myself, without knowing what was ahead of me, one of the greatest moments of my life so far.
The Nippon Budokan is quite small, which was great for me as I had tickets on the back. Outside I met some American fans and inside I finally met Noriko. She also presented me all of her friends/fans (by now the greatest fan base I ever met!). A bit after 7pm the lights went down and Elton came on stage to deliver a FANTASTIC show. (notes: on the first night Elton dedicated the show to Yohji Yamamoto, and Elton was not drinking coke but water, as David said :P)

I can't help to be amazed with the setlist. In my opinion, one of the best setlist that he has done in years. It was my first solo show and I'm SO impressed! So much on the setlist that I never heard live before! Elton was in full energy, the voice very strong and powerful...
And with a great show, the after-show cannot be less! :D A bunch of fans from Canada, US, Europe and, of course, Japan went together to a Japanese restaurant for a typical Japanese style dinner which was great and fun! We talked about Elton, about ourselfs and ate delicious Japanese food. It was a night to remember and I'm sure I will all my life. We have to repeat it one day ;)
And the best was still to come! The second show was even better! Noriko was really kind to exchange my ticket with hers, which was in the front block, and I had the night of my life! :D
Most of all the fans I met last night were there, so it was really cool. The show went on and finally I was able to run to the stage (sorry, little Japanese security guy I had to walk all over to pass though, lol! In my defence... everyone did! haha!) and managed to get my ticket signed and a GYBR Vinyl singed also for other fans that didn't make it to the stage. I was shacking after that! :D
After the show finished we stayed for a bit outside taking pictures of the signatures we all got from Elton (he signed a lot!) and left to the hotel to rest from my flight next day (which, as you can see I'm not doing, hehe).
This 3 days I spent in Japan has been GREAT, and the shows AWESOME, but the greatest has been meeting the Japanese fans who are AMAZING! Big thanks to Noriko for just everything. She has the biggest heart a person can have and she's the best fan I've ever met. I hope I look that good at her age ;) Thanks to Keiko for making these days so special and for being so welcoming. And thanks also for the rest of fans I enjoyed the dinner and concert with, which are really special people I hope to meet soon again. I can't wait to start receiving pictures!! I have to say it, even if it sounds repetitive: Elton John fans are the best of people I ever met. Thanks all of you for a special night. :)

Hi all!

In a quest to organize the Fan Sites links (and due to some requests of non-English sites to be in the Toolbar), I decided to create an "International" sub-menu where you'll find from now on all the fan websites that are not (mainly) in English (some of them might have an English version, so you can still check them up).

So, keep sending your requests to add your favorite fan sites, also if they are not in English! :)
