<p>While strings affect the ball, the grip affects your connection to the racquet. Many players overlook overgrips, but they are one of the easiest ways to instantly improve comfort and control.</p>
<p>An overgrip wraps around the original base grip and serves as a protective layer that absorbs sweat and helps prevent the handle underneath from wearing out. Without one, the base grip becomes slick and deteriorates much faster.</p>
<p>A fresh overgrip also helps your hand stay relaxed. When a grip becomes slippery, players squeeze tighter without realizing it, which can lead to tension in the wrist and forearm.</p>
<p>Benefits of changing your overgrip regularly:</p>
<ul>
<li>	Better traction and confidence on contact</li>
<li>Less squeezing and arm tension</li>
<li>More consistent feel between sessions</li>
<li>Protects the racquet’s base grip from wear</li>
</ul>
<p>A good habit is to replace your overgrip once it loses tackiness, feels smooth, or becomes dark from sweat. For many players, that is every few sessions, and for frequent players, it may be weekly.</p>
<p>Taking care of your racquet keeps your game comfortable and consistent. Fresh strings help you control the ball, and a fresh grip helps you control the racquet. <p>Our youth program is designed with every player in mind, offering a welcoming entry point for beginners while also providing a clear pathway for those ready to take their game to the next level. For kids just picking up a racquet, our beginner program focuses on building fundamentals in a fun, supportive environment. Through engaging drills, games, and encouragement from our certified coaches, young players quickly develop skills and a love for the game.</p>
<p>For athletes with bigger goals, Elysium’s developmental program offers the structure and enthusiasm needed to compete at higher levels. Whether the dream is to make a middle school or high school team—or even to play in college—our coaches provide the training, strategy, and mentorship to help players get there. And the results speak for themselves: Elysium Tennis Club has coached 18 State Champions, 10 State Finalists, and more than 40 players who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.</p>
<p>But success at Elysium Tennis Club goes beyond wins and accolades. We believe the lessons learned on the court—hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and accountability—translate directly into success in the classroom and beyond. Our athletes are encouraged to set goals, manage their time, and take pride in both their academic and athletic journeys.</p>
<p>Most importantly, Elysium Tennis Club creates an environment where kids can grow, compete, and have fun—regardless of their starting point. From first swings to championship moments, every player is supported every step of the way.</p>

You can improve technique, footwork, and fitness, but if your racquet is not properly maintained, you are working against yourself. Many players only think about their racquet when a string breaks or a grip falls apart. In reality, small maintenance habits make a noticeable difference in comfort, control, and confidence on the court. One area that has a big impact on your game is racquet strings. Here are some tips from the club Master Stringer.</div>

<p class=""><b class="">Understanding When to Restring</b></p>
<div class="">One of the most common misconceptions in tennis is that strings are fine until they break. While a snapped string obviously means it is time to restring, most strings actually stop performing well long before that moment. Over time, they lose tension and elasticity. Instead of pocketing the ball and returning energy, they begin to feel stiff and unpredictable. Players often notice this as balls flying long, less control on shots they normally trust, or a dull feeling at contact. Sometimes it even shows up as extra vibration in the arm because the strings are no longer absorbing impact the way they should.</div>

<div class="">A helpful rule of thumb:</div>
<div class=""><b class="">How many times you play per week equals how many times you should restring per year.</b><b class=""></b></div>

<div class=""><span class="">Timeline:</span><span class=""> Pick up your Bingo card from the front desk starting February 5. Earn as many squares as you can between now and March 7. </span></div>

<div class=""><span class="">Complete any of the tasks on the card, then go to the front desk to earn your stamp. You must get the stamp when you complete the task.</span></div>

<div class=""><span class="">To earn a Bingo, you must earn a stamp on five consecutive squares in any direction (across, up/down or diagonally).</span></div>

<div class=""><span class="">Turn in your completed Bingo card to the front desk on or before March 7. Be sure to include your full name and phone number on the back of the card to be entered into the prize drawing.</span></div>
