Titles are important from many different aspects, here’s just a few:

Grabbing Your Loyal Readers Attention
Good article or post TITLE impact the way your readers interact with your site. A good TITLE can intrigue, yes motivate them enough to “slow down” their WADD (Website Attention Deficit Disorder) and cause them to read some of the fantastic content you labored to post.

Grabbing Search Engine Attention
Google is the search “big dog” and with Google you can find just about any kind of information you want. One of the interesting things about “search results” is there is very little information for the reader (searcher) to go on. There is a TITLE, a brief excerpt and of course the URL. Using a GOOD TITLE is one important key to getting search engines to index your content.

Grabbing RSS Readers Attention
This is very similar to search engine attention in that TITLES have the ability to capture the attention of anyone who follows your WordPress (or blog) site via an RSS subscription.

Grabbing The Power of SEO Attention
When a person gets into the area of search engine optimization (SEO) there are so many factors to consider that a large book wouldn’t cover it all – AND – SEO factors change on a regular basis. The TITLE of your page – more specifically – your TITLE TAG is the most important consideration. Your TITLE TAG gives you the ability to tell the search engines what your page is about – and the search engines index it.

You’ve probably noticed that technology is all around us. Technology is changing the way we work, communicate, entertain ourselves – it touches just about every part of our lives today.

Leverage Internet Technology
Have you made the decision to embrace and take advantage of technology? You and your business can benefit from leveraging Internet technology for marketing your products and services.

Social Media Marketing – A Personal Touch
You can benefit from the Internet by capturing targeted leads. Internet marketing, including social media marketing is moving to a more personal touch – a personal way to reach your customers and prospects. Internet marketing and social media marketing can be an effective lead generator for your business.

Creates Awareness
Think of it this way, Internet marketing gives you the ability to create awareness about your business, products and services. Social media marketing gives you the ability to work interactively – giving you a compelling, searchable presence in the online market space.

<–Side Note–>
Recent statistics show nearly 97% of all local shoppers search and validate a business ONLINE before physically visiting their store.

Google reports that approximately 76% of all “search” done is related to “Local Products and Services”.
<–End Side Note–>

Having a content rich website that is search engine optimized (SEO) is important (and has been the common rule of thumb for years).

Mobile – Cell Phone Search
The NEW question is: “Can your website be found using mobile devices?” Does your website show properly when viewed using a cell phone. You can get more information regarding how your website looks on a cell phone by going to www.howtogomo.com (Google’s initiative to help website owners answer that question)/

Using social media can be tricky and time consuming. Most businesses can benefit from a social media presence – done the right way. It is important for you to use it and build it strategically! Google+, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube – all great social media platforms – use them strategically to create a professional presence.

It is not about how “You” feel about social media; it is how social media marketing can help grow your business.

Benefits of a Professional Social Media Presence
Creating a professional presence on one of the major social media platforms will:

Increase online visibility of your company, products and services.

Allow for easy interaction with customers and prospects

Position yourself as an industry thought leader

Provide a visible place where happy customers can post testimonials – my favorite :)

Take some time and look at the number of people who use social media – Multiple Millions!

No matter how you feel about social media marketing, it is a tool you can use to boost your business profits. If you don’t leverage social media as one of your marketing avenues, your competition probably will.

Go succeed!

You can effectively dominate your market, your audience by first doing one simple thing – Keyword Research.

No, Keyword Research is not sexy, reminds me of studying for an exam in school, not cool or fun, but will yield multiple benefits for your new web page project!

You must effectively reach your audience and you can do that by doing keyword research BEFORE creating your web site’s pages.

First, what is a Keyword?A Keyword is really a phrase, but it is the words people use to search for your product or service on the Internet.

Before you start your web page creation project, invest the time to do the keyword research for your potential market – find out what words people are using to locate you and your products.

There are many keyword research tools out there, my favorite is Google’s Free Keyword Tool. (Search for Google Free Keyword Tool).

Google gives you the ability to search their database of “words and phrases” people use to find you and your product. Once you have a list of “keywords” people use to find your product, prioritize those into a short list of about 10 – 12 “keyword” phrases.

Then use your “priority” list look for appropriate web site names.

Also use your “priority” list as basis for all of your copy work. (Use those priority keywords in your copy to draw your prospects to you and your product).

You can build a professional looking web site, page by page using KompoZer Web Page Creator.

While skimming through a publication I get from Qwest, I came across an article that was interesting and gave validation to the Internet / website marketing strategy I’ve used for the past several years.

Here it is: “SIMPLICITY” The NEW Competitive Advantage.

With all “stuff” to do and navigate through – AND – all the Internet “clutter and clamor” the one thing all website owners and webmasters really need to pay attention to is the number 1440. 1440 is the number of minutes we all have each day – no more – no less.

Life has become so complicated and time stressed that people are looking for simple – less complicated.

If we want to cut through the “stuff”, cut through the “clutter and clamor” on the Internet, a smart strategy is to simplify our presence on the Internet.

Think about it this way:
How many times have you made it to a website that was so FULL of “stuff” that you were overwhelmed with all the options and choices and simply CLICKED the BACK button? I have many times! :(

Here’s a thought for action – Take some time and ask yourself this question:

“What about my website is really necessary?”

By simplifying, how much of your customer’s or reader’s time can you give back?

Write down your observations and thoughts and start “simplifying”!

SEO, Search Engine Optimization Tips that you can use right now.

Your SEO effort should start during the creation of your website or blog, before going “live”. During the creation period you have the ability to properly tell the search engines what your site is about – FROM THE START.

If you already have a website – don’t despair. The following SEO tips will help improve your current website standings.

I like staying with the BASICS, like my football coach told me, “Master the basics and you will always perform well!” SEO basics will never lead you astray like some of the “bright shiny objects” that come along.

Here are your SEO basics:

1. Keyword Research
Knowing what words people [searchers] use to find your product or service on the Internet is the foundation to building your website. Additionally you identify the “market” by the words used by people during search. A great keyword tool use is Google’s Free Keyword Tool. https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Keyword research, identifying your market based upon the words used during search, gives you the basis for your basic SEO elements;
website name (URL),
Title tag,
META Description tag,
META Keyword tag information;
and words and phrases you will want to use in your website sales copy.

2. Website Name – URL
The best SEO strategy to gain leverage from the search engines is to use your primary keywords in the website name.

For example, Lets say you did the keyword research and found the market was using the search term: [sales copy that sells]. An “optimized” website name that leverages search for that term would be www[salescopythatsells]com.

Notice that the website name IS the KEYWORDS.

My favorite place to check for website names (URLs) is GoDaddy.com.

Keep in mind that you want a URL that is as short as possible. This is where developing a website name can be a challenge.

<–Side Note–>
For a local physical company website, I recommend also having a site that is your business name.

<–End Side Note–>

3. Title Tag
The Title tag is where YOU can tell the search engines what your website is about. You will want to use information from the keyword research you did to build the Title tag. Normally use no more than 3 keyword words or phrases that are the most important for you and your product or service.

For example (using the previous example) a good Title tag looks like this:
<Title>Sales Copy That Sells | Sales Copy | How To Create Sales Copy That Sells</title>

The Title Tag is an HTML element that you would modify using your HTML editor, or ensure your webmaster creates a proper Title Tag for your website. Additionally, each new page should have a unique Title Tag that corresponds to the content on that page.

4. META Description Tag
The META Description is a longer, plain English description of your website.

Using the previous example a good META Description tag would look like this:
<meta name=”description” content=”Tips and tactics on how to write good sales copy that sells”>

5. META Keyword Tag
The META Keyword tag should be the list of keywords and key phrases you want to target with your website. NOTE: When working with a website and the META Keyword tag, start with the top 10 – 15 keywords or key phrases.

Using the previous example a good META Keyword tag would look like this:
<meta name=”keywords” content=”sales copy, sales copy that sells, how to write sales copy, create sales copy that sells, good sales copy”>

Each keyword, key phrase separated by a comma.

<–Side Note–>
The Title Tag, META Description Tag and META Keyword Tag are all HTML “coding” elements. You will not see them when looking at your website using your web browser. The search engines DO SEE them and are important!

Each of these “Tags” are HTML elements, most HTML editors will give you options to add these to your website and web pages. If you are having a webmaster develop your site, ensure these important TAGS are properly created and added to each web page.

<–End Side Note–>

There are many other elements in good SEO, but these are the basics. Getting the basic SEO elements right and in place will get you off to a great website that can be found by the search engines AND found by searchers who are looking for YOU.

To Your Success,
Mike

I want you to add a new word to your business vocabulary -

The word is “specialization”.

Specialization is the “new thing” with information marketing.

Before I explain how this will help you create information
products that sell like crazy, let me give you a very brief
history lesson.

(I promise, this won’t hurt a bit. :-)

Back in the day…

1) THE SIMPLE AGE.

Times were simple back when I first came online. And so were
the information products. Way back when, information products
weren’t readily available online like they are today. If you
could find ANY information on the topic you were interested in,
you grabbed it.

2) THE SYSTEMATIC AGE.

As more and more people learned how to create and market
information products online, a new era emerged: the
“systematic”era. This was a time when huge information products
were created with hundreds of pages. The idea was to create
comprehensive courses on a particular topic.

3) THE SEPARATION AGE.

As “internet marketing” and other business-related markets
became inundated with product offerings, the birth and rapid
growth of “niche marketing” occurred. People began separating
themselves from the crowd and focused on “tiny niche topics” of
interest.

4) THE SPECIALIZATION AGE. Again competition came – even in
these small niches. While there is still money to be made by
focusing on these tiny, untapped markets — the well is drying
up at a fast rate. Now enters a new age … the “specialization”
age of information marketing.

Which brings us to the lesson -

There is a LOT of money to be made by creating small, 7-15
page reports on PRECISE topics.

Most consumers would rather NOT sift through 100 pages of
information to find out how to do something they are interested
in, nor would they like to pay for 100 pages of information when
they only need chapter 3.

With more and more products available on the market, consumers
are getting pickier and pickier. They want what they want and
only what they want.

Perhaps the biggest untapped information gold mine lies in this
concept of creating small reports on precise topics.

* 17 Ways to Find New Affiliates Using Google.com
* How To Walk Off 7 Pounds in 7 Days
* 3 Ways To Get Your Next Vacation Free Of Charge
* The 15-Minute Guide To Stalling A Divorce
* Top 7 Ideas For Starting A Homeschool Support Group

Specialized information.

7-15 page reports that sell anywhere from $10-$100, depending upon
the information.

And the benefits of writing these small reports are staggering -

1. You can write a small report in just a few hours of one day.

2. The profit per page ratio is astounding – 10 pages for $10 is
a dollar per page per customer.

3. Small reports are MUCH easier to write than full-length courses.

4. There is a never-ending supply of topics for small reports.

5. You maximize the lifetime value of your customer. In other words,
you can sell report after report to the SAME customer.

6. A series or collection of your small reports can be bundled into
premium-priced courses over time.

7. When “hot topics” emerge (almost daily!) you can quickly crank
out a small report to strike while the iron is hot.

8. When other marketers are seeing success with their products, you
can create a complementary report to offer for sale as a supplement.

9. Many people can’t afford to buy (or refuse to buy) high-priced
courses – but virtually anyone can whip out $10-$15.

The list could go on and on.

This works.

So, what I want to convince you to do is this -

***TRY IT FOR YOURSELF****

Create a small 7-15 page report and begin selling it online and see
what kind of results you see.

A new information age has dawned - the age of specialization!

Create your own “special” reports and get your piece of the pie.

And if you’d like to learn how to do this quickly and easily, check
out The Copy System. Not only will you learn how to create these
small reports very quickly, you’ll also learn how to build a list of
eager beaver subscribers to buy them and generate traffic to your site
to buy them.

While listening to a success mentoring webinar by Jim Edwards, he made this point,”We we must stop thinking of ourselves as victims”.

That got me to thinking about the “thought” process.

Dan Kennedy’s super conference in May of 09, Dan gave a presentation, essentially about blaming others. This society works hard to convince us to perceive ourselvews as victims. When we perceive ourselves as a victim, we are looking for someone to blame.

When we blame somebody else, we give up control. We also give up responsibility.

Don’t you see this happening all over our country, in all aspects of business and personal life. It seems like we are being taught or conditioned to see ourselves as victims.

Taking the victim mentality, we transfer the blame to somebody else, transferring responsibility to somebody else.

When we don’t take responsibility for our actions, we give up the ability to control our actions.

We need to all be responsible for what we do. In doing that, we take control of our lives and we take control of our destiny.

So if you’re perceiving yourself as a victim. Stop doing it right now!

Get control of YOUR destiny!

Go Succeed!

Being persuasive with our words on our sales website can bring more customers and more sales.

One of the things I’ve found over the past few years is websites, many website are near “cookie cutter” copies of other websites. Your website not only must be persuasive with words, your website has to have a format, a layout that is attractive AND presents your message.

The question is: How do you learn what exactly is good web sales presentation format AND how do you write words that are persuasive? – With study, practice and testing.

One of the skills an entrepreneur needs is how to put together a web page that not only uses good compelling words AND a web page layout that leads a prospect through your sales / promo message.

As an entrepreneur, you are the expert in your service or business. You are best suited to build your own web page – because of your expertise!

Take a look at this website for information on how to build your own web page for FREE!

Persuasive communication is important in every thing we do. Think about it, when we are communicating with our spouses – being persuasive can deliver positive results.

Keyword research, in my opinion, is the FOUNDATION for all marketing / web site design, layout and COPY. Keyword research is also foundational in off-line marketing.

Why you ask? I’m glad you asked!

Keywords are foundationally important when:
1. Choosing your website URL
2. Writing COPY
3. Creating Web Site design and layout (photo “alt tag” info)

Foundational because buy knowing what your market is looking for, what problem they need to solve or what desires they have, guides you in:
1. Website URL selection
2. Framing and developing site “copy”
3. Developing photo “alt tag” info so that…

Your copy speaks directly to them.
They (your market) can say, “Wow! This is speaking directly to me!”

Search Engine Basics: Why Keywords are important

The Big Secret is: “There is No Big Secret”
It’s true: the ‘big secret’ of search engine optimization is that there is no big secret. It is all about understanding what is going on, followed by the hard work and attention to detail that are common to many business activities.

Inside the Guts of a Search Engine
For simplicity’s sake, let’s say there are three pieces of software that together make up a search engine – the Spider software, the Index software and the Query software.
If you understand what these three do, then you have the foundation for getting your website to the top of the search engines.

Spiders – Crawl the web looking for new pages to collect and add to the search engine indices’. This is a metaphor. In reality, the spider doesn’t do any ‘crawling’ and doesn’t ‘visit’ any web pages. It requests pages from a website in the same way as Microsoft Explorer, or Firefox or whatever browser you use requests pages to display on your screen.

The difference is that the spider used to only index text, links and URL’s. Today they also index images using the “alt tag” for the image.

A spider loves links because a link leads it to other web pages that have the things that it loves, guess what? Text, links and URLs!

Index – The index makes sense of the mass of text, links and URLs using what is called an algorithm – a complex mathematical formula that indexes the words, the pairs of words and so on.

Searching “Google” or “Yahoo” is what we use when you go to a search engine – it is the front end that everybody thinks of as a search engine – familiar ground at last. It may look simple but it presents the results of all the quite remarkable search engine software that works away invisibly on our behalf.

The “SEARCH” query doesn’t search the web – it checks the records that have been created by its own index software. And those records have been made possible by the raw material the spider software collects.

What You Need to Understand About Search Engines
The words people use when they search therefore determine the results the search engine presents.

So search engine optimizers want to know the words people use when they search – KEYWORDS

How to do Keyword analysis:
1. Collect / Gather
2. Evaluate and Quantify
3. Educated Selection

Collect / Gather
Use FREE or paid Key Word (KW) research tools to gather all the KW that could apply to your business (pay special attention to the areas where you did not think would apply).

I like to use these FREE “keyword tools”:
Google Keyword Tool

Rank the keyword results based upon your business goals, potential target markets and “competition” based on how many pages are currently serving that keyword.

Evaluate
Take time to review all the current web sites that show prominently on the search engines. I normally only use Google, because Google carries the bulk of search engine traffic and searches.

Review the websites that already rank high for the keyword you are evaluating and make a judgment call on how well that website “serves” the search term. (This is a judgment call you have to make; there really isn’t a “formula” to figure this out).

Educated Selection
Based upon your evaluation, which Keyword would best fit your business / Internet marketing goals (or future target markets)?

Then ask yourself this question:
Can any of these areas be Niched or Targeted?
