  <description><![CDATA[Microkernels are handy - multithreaded programming is a boon to those who know how to use it, <br />
but it comes with a penalty - the dreaded task switch!<br />
<br />
Both the greatest power and any kernel's achilles' heel is task switching.  Even in a microkernel, <br />
the amount of time it takes to do a task switch can raise havoc with realtime events such as processing<br />
interrupts, etc., and often demands hardware support (queues on UARTs, etc., ) to deal with the overhead.<br />
<br />
Of course, it all depends on your project - I think that if you have the hardware to support it, and your project<br />
is complex enough to require it, the firmware will be cleaner if you you have a microkernel around and can<br />
multitask.<br />
