This means today we get to start with Aquaman VS Green Lantern

Aquaman (Arthur Joseph Curry): The King of Atlantis, King of the Seven Seas, Dweller in the Depths. Aquaman has been an icon in DC for a long time. He is one of the founders of the Justice League and rules more than half the Earth. A real king.

Green Lantern (Lots of them, 2 per space sector and some more): In brightest day in blackest night these heroes fight all that is not right. They are the space cops and their signature weapon is the single most powerfull weapon in the universe. The Green Lantern Ring.

To be honest, Aquaman has no real fight against a Green Lantern, any green lantern. I tried looking up something that could give the Ruler of the Seven Seas the upper hand but found nothing, or close to nothing.

The most excitng battle I could imagine for these characters meant I chose Aquaman's appearance while he had a hook so that he could wield something yellow and have something of an advantage against rookies on the Corps. Even without the hook any rookie will have problems dealing with the king of the seas.

Aquaman could really use a simpson's remake for this fight, it is never to bad to be all yellow.

Not much to be said on this fight. Pick your Green Lantern (or whatever color lantern you like) and Aquaman loses. Poor guy, but sometimes the big stars don't get to shine.

No videos this time, this is an odd pair of fighters.

Back from vacation - Welcoming Heroism

Since I am back from vacations and a new school period just started I will give thoughts of the new stuff going on on Marvel.
Heroic Age - the new era for Marvel

Marvel has been messing with things since a little bit before Civil War and seems they have made the objective of messing things in a bigger way as time goes up to the point where our heroes are the ones hiding to save the world while villains are publicly destroying it peace by peace with the world on their side. As many of us saw it coming there had to be a point of relaxation and stability after this so long crisis (whatever reference to a different comic company is just coincidence)

Another great reason is because as in many series there has to be a point where you go back to the status quo, heroes being heroes, mutants being different and away, avengers having their three big icon and so on so on. This helps get new fans that can start reading form that point, it helps old fans get a sense of stability and everybody else have a sense of who is who.

Some say this has come from Disney buying Marvel, but if it is or is not the reason, I think it is the best course of action, we get to see or heroes back, Marvel gets more buyers and one of our greatest comic companies continues to live a long life. By the way, great job Marvel at pulling this up the correct way, no magic or thing no one has seen before to save us all, simple and careful planning of events.

A little about the Deadpool Corps

The last few days I have been reading Deadpool related comics and I have been updating myself on the Marvel Universe. Finally, I came to the latest Deadpool issue on my pile, Deadpool Corps (yes another corps related post on my blog, but at least this one is Marvel Universe related).

So if you read Prelude to Deadpool Corps you know the badesst merc with a mouth in the whole multiverse of comics is putting a team together of Deadpools from other dimenssions. Up until now I love what they have done with Deadpool, he now has mission given to him by the contemplator to save the multiverse with a bunch of Deadpools.

One of the new characters on the DPCorps that has had the most time dedicated to him is Zombie Deadpool, who by the way, is just a head. So one of the main characters on Deadpool Corps is not even a whole character, he is not even alive. Headpool, just as Deadpool, has a wierd way of getting out of the wors situations without being destroyed.

Next we can see Wanda Wilson, our Lady Deadpool. She has one hot body, except by the fact that it is as scarred as Deadpool´s body. On her universe Wanda is on the rebel side of the superhuman registration act and is commonly seen battling General America.

In every happy and multiversal familly there is a kid, this one is no exception. But this kid is no usual kid, he is great with all kinds of weapons and his signature weapons are two lightsabers.

Last but not least, we have what every superhero should have but does not have because it would be far to much to keep track of, a dog. Just like the Batman Family has Ace the bat.hound, the Superman Family has Krypto the superdog, the X-men has Lockheed Kitty's Dragon, the Avatar has Appa the flying six legged bison and Mystery Inc. has Scooby-Doo, the Deadpool family now has Dogpool a dog with a healing factor due to experimentation.

And I almost forgot our original Wade Wilson from the Main Marvel Universe. As mentioned before, Deadpool is one of my favorite characters.

This means today we get to start with Superman VS Thor

Superman (Kal-El/Clark Kent): Our "Last Son of Krypton", the "Man of Steel", te "Big Blue Boy Scout". He is an alien form the destroyed planet Krypton which orbited a red sun. Superman is powered by the light of our yellow sun, he is essentially a solar battery. His powers include heat vision, freezing breath, xray vision, one of the highest level of superhuman invulnerability, strength and toughness, flight, supersenses and superspeed.

Thor (Thor Odinson): The "God of Thunder", the protector of Asgard. Thor is a protector god of Asgard, he is son of Odin, the King of Gods, and Gaea, the Earth Godess. Thor posseses the finest build among all gods, he is said to have the most strength and toughness between them, he also has some yet unknown powers that came from her mother's heritage. He wields the magic hammer Mjolnir which grants the wearer the physical capabilities of a god, flight, energy absorbtion and other enchantments. Thor also gains control over the weather when holding Mjolnir. Mjolnir can not be wielded by those unworthy. It is important to note that Superman has wielded the hammer before, at least for a moment. (JLA vs Avengers)

But enough of the characters. 3.. 2.. 1.. FIGHT!

For the fight, I will place my 2 cents on the Big Blue. Why? Well, supes can surelly withstand the damage, Hell he can even withsand being inside a Red Sun with Kryptonite. Big S is also able to catch Mjolnir, and wield it for enough time to win.

I know the Mjolnir argument seems lame. Why would Supes be able to wield Mjolnir, he is not worth it? Many would argue it is a bad writer that made it possible. But then again Captain America, Spider-man, Wonder Woman, even Deadpool have wielded it. So why wouldn't Superman be worthy? He is a complete Boyscout, he is by D&D definition a Lawful Good, the Paladin by excellence of the DC Universe. I think it is a fair bet to think that if someone should be worth it, it should be him.

Another thing Superman has against Thor is his speed, which is unmatched except by speedsters. Superman with his superhuman strength and speed could knock out any oponent before they knew what hit them.

Wait for the next fight Green Lantern vs Aquaman.

One word. AWESOME!!!

If you wanted to see the lanterns work together, you got it. If you wanted to see Siniestro as a white lantern doing some awesome stuff, you got it. If you wanted more info and background on stuff you got it.

Since this comic was out yesterday I will not spoil you guys, I will leave that to the review of blackest nights final installment (next week)

Here is the second Cover

In this great issue you will see that a lot of stuff is going on, and as always, a good story seems to be revealing itself. As you may have guessed by the last issue of BN, the entity has to be one of the most powerful beings on the DC universe, to bad Hal did not get to be the host but there has to be a reason.

This is a must, and is probably going to be something a collector might like to get his hands on probably with a copy to archive if you like keeping comics int their graded packs.

The art is really good and you get some REALLY COOL spread pages and as in most of the BN series you get dark pages, colorful pages and now white pages.

Totally recommended, you will definitely enjoy this one.

OK, it's been a long time since this one was out, but since Blackest Night 8 is out next week I figured out I can go ahead and give out the spoilers freely.

It is almost the end of Blackest Night (prepare for Brightest Day) and thing just keep getting better and better!

First, the Coverpage, great one (as most of the BN series), you get to see all the human lanterns chosen at the end of Blackest Night 6 algonside Hal Jordan. Great art! Here is a look at the previous version of the Cover found in Sinclair´s deviantArt page

This comic has a lot going on. You get to see all the colored lanterns use their powers which gives us some really good rainbow colored pages with characters we have known for a very long time. Scarecrow actually gets his 5 minutes of glory before Luthor gets all "My preciuous" and wants all the rings for himself, courtesy of that orange ring of he is now wearing.

So apart from having all of the black lanterns, Black Hand and Nekron, now the good guys also have to fight Luthor who by now has an Orange ring, a Yellow ring and is wanting to rip Mera's Red ring off. At the same moment we see the death of a Guardian by Black Hand who uses his oddly brightly colored insides to summon The Trespasser, the Light Entitiy.

Seems that like all entities, the Trespasser is unable to attack. The trick with this one is that it is linked to all lanterns of all colors and so Nekron damages the entity and all the lanterns feel it.

So then again our heroes figure it out really fast (like the whole Parrallax can defeat the Spectre stuff) and Hal wants to be the entitiy's host. But he gets stopped:

And then for the last page we get something that made me feel akward, Siniestro as the Light Entity's host. So this will be Siniestro The Trespasser.

Brigthest Day is almost here, which reminded me of Fanboy Wife

Recently Fanboy Wife posted on her blog quick remark about how long the Blackest Night has been for being just a night. So obviously the following picture quickly reminded me of her feelings. (Mostly in an ironic way, since she will possibly have to hear the whole story of Brightest day from her Fanboy)

For those of you that have not heard of Fanboy Wife, it is a blog made by the Wife of Ash (a fake name for her husband) that functions as a compilation of all that our female counterparts have to go through. During the time I have followed her I have found interesting tips on how I sound when I talk about my stuff and a lot of humor of how silly our loved comic stories sound when told out loud.

Visit her blog, she updates more often than I do and you can look at how she progressively gets to know more and more about our stuff, she will eventually become one of us.

For the Hunt. New Predator Movie around the block.

The Predator/Alien franchise is a big one and is growing day by day. This year we have Predators brought to us by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimród Antal.

Most of the franchise success comes from what started it, the first predator film, the second predator film, the whole bunch of alien films and the old arcade alien versus predator, those were the big hits for this ones ( have not played the other games so I will ot talk about them), then we all remember the big no-no's, although they had a good idea was behind them, I am talking about both AVP and AVP2 which did have a really cool story behind them, specially the first one, but it was not done correctly.

But let us entirely forget about those awful films and go back to our loved alltime good films. What made the Predator franchise so good?

-It was not the charm of the Governator, although he did a really good job with what was expected, looking tough, good action scenes and lines like "If it bleeds, we can kill it".

So Arnold was one key element. Unfortunately he is governator right now, so don't count on him filming on this one.

But we can understand from this that good drama actors are not needed, we need actors that can mimmic Arnolds performance, but then again, we do not need a remake, so we need new faces on a new script.

-Soldiers, lots of them. You have a bunch of trained-to-kill-and-survive humans against one Predator. Having the soldiers made the viewer think us humans can make a stance. It is a good feeling.

-Figthing the unknown, predator was a mythical hunter-demon that came every year or something. The first time I saw the film I was waiting half the movie just to get a good look at the damn demon, which later became the famous Predator. On the second film, our main characters had no idea what they were fighting, and the same goes for the first Alien film.

-Good filming, on all the predator only and alien only series you always fell like you know ere you are, what can happen and what can go wrong. The viewer had a good sense of ubication, they new where the things were happening.

So what was wrong with AVP and AVP2?

-No tough guy, the main one was a girl that had no clue. Don't get me wrong I am not against the girl part, I am against the had no clue part.

- Bad scenes, you never get a feeling you now where you are with al those wierd shots.

- Soldiers got ripped off really quick (most of them)

SPOILER ALERT!

So let us see whats cooking on the new Predators film.

Plot: A bunch of humans (most look militaristic, probably selected that way by the predators) are kidnapped by predators and are thrown in a jungle-like planet (back to basics, good) where they are hunted by a new breed of predators (unkown, good). The guys do not make it easy on the predators and eventually find one guy that has survived (and seems he killed one already).

-we are looking at a good number of predators XD

Thats about all I know, but it seems the guys at Fox are going back to the basics on this film. I really hope for the best.

-Fishburne, as in Matrix, he is a survivor

Black Lantern Green Arrow 30 Comic Review

First look and you will see something really familiar, the coverpage. This cover is one idea that has been used over and over and over again. I like it when they use artistics this way, but when they do, since it is a "classic" cover for this title I really expect it to be breathtaking. In this case it was not.

The story is similar to superboy's in Adventure Comics this month. Ollie as well as the other resurrected characters got themselves "possessed", "controlled" or whatever it can be called by the black lantern rings. This is Ollie's story on how he is supposed to fight the black ring and how the black ring says a lot of evil stuff to the people near him. As in Superboy's (and Wonder Woman's) comic this month, the comic starts with a back story on the character, we also see things on the real world and things from Ollie's perspective from inside.

I never really liked the Green Arrow stories myself (sorry to all of you GA fans), he is always whining about incorrect decisions and takes incorrect decisions because of it. This issue is no different, Ollie is having issues with his previous actions all the way almost to the last page. I think Green Arrow has always felt inferior to the rest of the guys. I do not think he is, but the fact that he feels it kind of makes him sometimes.

One thing I have been noticing more and more is that the old JLA members are all feeling more emotional with all this death heroes resurrected and stuff. You can read the thoughts being more personal, they all have known each other for long.

One thing I did like was the expressions made bye Black Lantern Arrow. He really looks evil.

The end did not surprise me. I would rate this one really low. I would have it join my "to be read again" library only if the things that happen in this issue trascend (which probably would not)

Time for Vampires! Daybreakers Review

Some of the critcs are saying it is a Matrixed Vampire film, some did not even want to see it because of this whole apocalyptic themed movies going on and those Daylighted Vampire stories out there that are being taken to film. I personally loved it. I may be going easy on the film because I love vamps and I had also thought about this story before. But lets go a make the review.

Daybreakers is a story of a world already dominated by vamps, which is cool (if the studios think of it as a success we might even see Daybreakers The Beginning or something). In this world, here comes the resemblance to Matrix everyone talks about, humans are caught and farmed for blood in a Matrix-like manner - These vamps and machines should get together to get a 2x1 deal on harvesting blood and heat at the same time - but the problem in their society is they are running low on blood.

We get to see a few interesting characters, Ethan Hawke (Gattaca & Training Day) playing Edward a vamp that works at the blood farming company named Bromley Marks, we also see Sam Neill who I best know from Jurassic Park's Alan Grant as Charles Bromley, the top guy at Bromley Marks,and we also get to see our lovely decepticon chick from transformers 2 playing Alison Bromley a human daughter of Charles Bromley and lets not forget Willem Daffoe, whom I am used to see as a villain, now appearing as one of the good guys.

The story is really good, and the work of the Spierig brothers is remarkable, it is not easy making a vampire film specially if it is one of the first films you make.

This movie's visuals are dark and blues on one side and daylight yellows the other side, do not expect a fully colored movie, remember it is a vamp movie and these colors fit it really cool.

As a non-movie-related plus here is an image of a toy I used to have of Alan Grant.

The movie has a good plot, good scenes, and a good cast. It is Emerald Fan approved. An emerald thumb up.

DC comes with a new animated film based on the most known superhero team and scores really high. This new animated film is a continuation of the good work DC is making in this field.

It is a good time for us fanboys, both DC an Marvel are coming up with really good animated films this past seasons.

Jistice League - Crisis on Two Earths is based Grant Morrison's story JLA: Earth 2. To tell the truth I did not read Earth 2, when I saw it on the shelf the thought of buying it crossed my mind but I got interrupted by the comic store guy, he had some issues I had ordered ready for me. I never came back for that comic.

The film is really good. It is not based on the continuity of the series nor is it based on the comicverse (but it might as well be with all that multiverse things going on).

Reading reviews of Earth 2 I found out that there was a lot less battle than in the animated adaptation, but then again, you never expect a full 100% adaptation, not if is only one movie (and even then I doubt it).

I recommend this and give it a good emerald thumb up. Enjoy!

Blackest Night Tie-in

This is the first Adventure Comics issue I have read in a while and I decided to start my review with it for two reasons; this title has a new creative team and it's alphabetical order places it before the others.

Looking at my first reason to review it. The new team. This is more of a sync-up issue for them, they get to try this title on a story that is already focused somewhere else (namely Blackest Night) and advance a little in superboy's specific story. Much like the other tie-in titles this month; Green Arrow 30, Flash 3, Wonder Woman 03 and JSA 3; superboy´s story is changing one thing only (wait for the spoiler part for this).

Another good part of this issue is the historic recap superboy does at the beginning, we essentially get to see a resumed history of superboy on the DC world since Reign of Supermen in two pages narrated by Superboy from inside the Black Lantern. This brought back memories, seeing superboy in his old outfit, when he was yelling to everyone he was Superman not Superboy.

Now for the content.

For those not following what is happening on Blackest Night and grab this issue, I suppose it is because of the new story arc that is going to come starting next issue, so here goes a quick recap of superboy's whereabouts during this particular event.

In blackest Night we see Black rings resurrecting dead people and feeding from their emotinons and we get to know the Corps for the other colors of the visual spectrum which (you might have guessed already) are the ones with the means to defeat them.

On superboy's case, and some other resurrected heroes, a black made its way to his hand. Superboy became a Black Lantern with the reasoning being that he died once and he is meant to be dead. This is where we set of.

This issue starts with the recap and we realize Conner is thinking all this from inside the Black Lantern Superboy while fighting Cassie. Throughout the issue Conner is trying to escape while the Black Lantern is insulting Cassie with all he's got.

By the end of the issue Conner is able to liberate himself from the Black Ring and with both Cassie and Krypto heads to the main conflict to make a stand.

Some points worth being highlighted. During this issue Superboy is able to use the cold breathing superman does for the first time, this added to the fact that he can still use Tactile Telekinesis (learned a month or two ago) is making our Jr.S a bad-ass on the neighborhood.

So here I leave it for this issue.

Starting today I have decided to start my new blog. This time in English.

First oder of business is to state the purpose of this blog.

I am here as a fan of comics. This means that whatever I say or as a matter of fact write here is based on my love to comics which may show as frustration of bad decisions by our favorite heroes or by the people behind them (namely the comic house responsible) or as excitement on what is happening or about to happen.

This blog is here to help me keep track on comics because I sometimes divert my attention to other real world stuff and totally forget about comics for months.

I have my own share of comics and collectibles which I will be posting reviews for any soul out there that is looking for a good story to read or a summary of a story that lead to something else.

Aside from my normal reads reviews and collectible stuff I have I will also be posting extra info I sometimes get, like new releases or interesting stuff.
